This beach is located very close to Ventura Harbor Village and Shopping Center, as well as the Robert J. Lagomarsino Visitor Center, Channel Islands Nat'l Park, so if you visit the area it's a quick walk over to enjoy the beach! I visited on a morning weekday, and there were only an handful of people there. The beach is very clean; I didn't see any litter anywhere. The water smelled fresh. There are shorebirds to watch and a few surfers in the ocean, and the waves near the shore were calm. There is ample free parking on the paved lots as well as street parking, and flush toilets. There's even a little mesh path to the water to help people in wheelchairs or strollers navigate the sand. read more

This is the perfect beach to walk and shop for! It is beautiful and they offer lots of parking space! I will say it is not favorite to take a swim on the ocean as it can be very rocky at the bottom but other than that it is great! They have so many great restaurants right across the street and lots of cute shops to visit! read more

Such a beautiful stretch of beach opposite side of the Ventura Harbor. Sand is nice and soft, beautiful sand dunes and the sunset, beautiful. Perfect place for a beach day, family outing and so on. There's plenty of parking along the street as well as the lot across the street. There's also the side of the beach where's it's a bit calmer for the little ones. Great beach! parking can be tricky when it's busy. I was looking enough to find a spot on the curb. Not sure how they're paid parking works since I've only been here once. It looks like there's lots of shops and other things to do too. The beach itself was nice and easy to get to. I would come back here again. read more

I've been coming here for a very long time overall very nice spot but very limited restaurant to go eat at and not a great selection of food around. I would recommend to bring your own hamburgers or any desirable food. Otherwise you will spend doubled the amount of cash and you will be disappointed at some of the quality. It gets super crowded on the weekends, so make sure you give yourself plenty of time to make sure you would find parking especially if you're bringing the little ones! read more

It's a decent setup and should be a great beach for kids. The waves are minimal and the cove probably makes the water a little warmer. The problem is this is also a dog beach, and even though dogs are great it means that the beach smells of dog pee! Also, the water feels a little dirty and the boat traffic doesn't fill me with confidence about how clean it is. Such a pity as this could be a really great beach. read more

Great times! My friends and I love having evening picnics here. We enjoy the sunset and seeing the cool surfers surf. We typically go during the week after work so not busy. We park on the street and there's plenty of parking. Beautiful views!!! So relaxing too. read more

Nice dog friendly beach. Long stretch of sand. Not too many people on the weekdays. I imagine it would be different on the weekend. Just chillin', watching the waves crash, and the occasional surfer and sea birds nearby. Hoping the water wouldn't be as cold in April but it is nice to relax, listen to the ocean, and watch a few pups play in the water. Large parking lot and no entry fee. read more

Safe little cove with gentle waves in the harbor entrance area. Plenty of parking, flush toilets, and usually more wind protected than the beach just south of the jetty. Dog friendly, lots of bathrooms, free parking? This is as good as it gets! What more can you ask for from a beach? There's FREE parking, safety is enforced, not too crowded (even on the weekends), and several restrooms at the Ventura Harbor Village across the street! There's tons of different restaurants to try there too. Andria's, Coastal Cone, and The Greek seem to be the most popular. Overall... Very accessible beach with everything you need. The walk from the parking lot is just about 5 minutes and very close by. They also have lots of street parking too. I had a very stress-free experience here. KEEP IN MIND: Dogs are allowed to be off leash here! If you have allergies and a fear of dogs, you may want to re-consider. read more

I'm generally not a fan of coves anyway because of how dirty the water can get, so we've avoided this beach for years. Recently attended a group event there and one of the kids got a gnarly gash from a stingray, which apparently are also more common in coves than at an open beach. So if you do decide to visit here, definitely educate your kids and yourselves on the stingray shuffle! read more

Evidently other Yelpers have been reviewing this beach at the similarly named café across, because I guess the word "café" is synonymous with beach here in SoCal. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Anywho, this is a really great beach that seems to be very popular w/ surfers, kayakers and boaters alike. Nicknamed "Mother's Beach" by locals, this place has some standard and not-so standard amenities: -Free parking! -Multiple restrooms w/ showers -About a half-dozen or so volleyball courts setup for a first-come-first-served basis. -Dog-friendly -Located across the street from the Channel Islands Visitor's Center -One of the better beaches for swimming in the Ventura area, as the man-made jetties protect against the strong rip-currents in the area. -Good place to watch boats, as the harbor is right next door. Overall it was a cool beach that I'm sure fills-up when the weather is toasty, but a nice calm place in the winter. read more

It may not be the most popular beach in SoCal but Harbor Cove Beach has the finest near white sand and has one of the most beautiful ocean view perfectly located at the end of the peninsula in front of Ventura's Harbor. Harbor Cove is protected by jetties and a breakwater so it is the best swimming beach in the Ventura area. Most of the other beaches near here have strong rip currents making them dangerous places to swim. Moreover, it has ample of amenities such as lifeguard towers, public bathrooms, benches, outdoor showers with strong water pressure and beach volleyball courts. Parking lots are huge and ample of street parking available. Overall HCB is really beautiful and a great place to spend the day. read more

Labor Day 2022: stinky! At least 1-2 boats pumped out (sewage) while exiting the harbor. If you've ever been on an ocean boat, you know what the pump out smell is. Smelled that way from 9-930 on Labor Day. Not cool to do that in front of the kids beach, not going back. Previously took my kids there on weekdays and it's nice, great spot for little ones and to not have to worry about them getting swallowed by a giant wave. However, not going to swim in sewage. Harbor patrol needs to keep an eye out for that. Hope nobody gets a stomach bug from swimming in that (it's mostly kids) read more

We went at noon and it was incredibly full, though we did go in the middle of a heat wave and apparently a lot of people had the same idea as us to cool down. We did not find parking after circling the street for 20 minutes so we parked 2 miles away (we where not expecting to workout that day). Besides that, the beach was quite clean, the sand was soft and there was not too much sun, the water in the other hand was freezing cold, it wasn't that bad though after our legs had gone numb . I think this is the 5th time I've changed/removed/updated/edited my review of this place. It seems to change every time Im here. So, there are 2 sides and its not so much hidden anymore, especially the calmer cove enclosed side on the right. This water is pretty much the ONLY water you can swim in southern cali without getting abused and pounded wave after wave nonstop like manhattan, zuma, etc. Thats the main appeal, and the free abundant parking and short distance to the beach from parking. The water was very clean and smooth like a blanket this past July 3rd sunday. Problem is, like I said secret is out, you will deal with blaring (mostly) Latino music from multiple groups, tents setting up immediately in front of you right when you get there, and then all around you, propane tanks and bbq grills, wagons and boatloads of people and tons of toddlers and kids. If you stay in the back and dont mind not being close to the water its much more peaceful. Highly recommend taking headphones, a phone battery charger, and a long playlist. These things are standard in any beach in SoCal but if your claustrophobic like me it gets very trying, but great to swim in calm waters so good and bad here. About 85% come and sit and dont swim, so water, although a small area, barely has any people in it. The left side of the cove is very limited space from the changing waterfront; the sandy area has split to a high low sand making it very tight and thin area to spread out, and its very wavy too. Free restrooms and foot washing area. The harbor and fish and chips just across the way and slightly up. Great outdoor patio cafe right across for terrific breakfast and lunch. Parking used to NEVER fill up all the way, but since last year its hard to find a spot after 12pm; such a big lot but that and even the streets absolutely littered with vehicles. read more

I loved the sandy beach and free parking. I walked into the water & within minutes I got bitten by stingray (told by doctor) in the sand. It resulted in a deep cut wound on my left feet and got swollen. I had to go to urgent care to get treatment and shot. It's really unlucky and bad timing. Went to a family reunion here and found the beach to be really lovely and great for kids! Since it's a cove, there are hardly any waves and so it's great for lap swimming too. They have volleyball courts set up, so we played a game. Bathrooms and showers nearby and ample parking. It was a beautiful day! read more
