Easy access from street. Restroom and shower available near public park. Great beach for dogs. Great beach for building sandcastles. Plenty of room for volleyball. Occasional dolphin sightings.

My wife's Christmas party was on Saturday December 10th here at the hotel. The owner of the company took care of the rooms for any of the employee's who were planning spending the night so they would be safe. From check in to check out and during the party, the employee's were very nice and friendly. We were impressed with our room. Very nice, roomy, clean and comfortable. The food at the party was delicious, starting with appetizers. Deviled eggs, crab cakes, coconut shrimp and filet mignon skewers. Entree's included salads, mashed potatoes, stuffing, green beans, salmon, prime rib with au jus and roasted turkey breast with gravy. There were also various desserts. Open bar the entire night! I know they recently renovated and remodeled the hotel. The pool and garden areas were beautiful. The only downside was 2 of the elevators. We reported the issues to the Front Desk.

Great beach, families everywhere, kids enjoying the surf. It was nice and clean, free toys to use for dogs balls and tugging, and chew toys. Small dunes to climb, beautiful lookout points, and privacy

A hidden treasure of a beach. Narrow and easy to park at. Had a blast building sand castles and watching surfers.

Beautiful, clean and almost always empty, Mandalay Beach is a hidden gem on the a Southern California coastline! Dogs are allowed on leash from sun up to sun down and most of the dog owners here abide by the leash law. Parking is limited but free, with additional parking spaces available in the local park.

A day at the beach.

A nice place to enjoy the sun, sand and surf. The area is clean and is not crowded ( Sept visit ). A great place to enjoy a west coast sunset. FYI - no life guards or restrooms along the beach area.

What a beautiful find of a beach! It sits right in front of the Embassy Suites Mandalay bay Oceanfront rooms. Even though you have the hotel, boardwalk & bike rentals, it was if we had our own beach. It was a bit windy with a slight chill on an October day around 5pm & we were waiting for the sunset. They have plenty of parking for the state beach along the side of the hotel ( which gets chained up at dusk), the long sandy dunes had a handful of dog walkers , single people walking and I found no tar to step in. It was low tide and my girlfriend said she found some seaglass here the other night. I had no luck, but there were lots of smooth colorful stones & interesting driftwood. We sat on the beach with our collection of stones, a glass of wine in hand singing "It's a beautiful day at Mandaly bay" and watched the sky turn hues of pink and orange with palm trees scattered around us, and the most breathtaking California sunset (that rivaled my Hawaiian ones) I remember as a child. I couldn't glimpse a green flash, but knew it was going to be a great night and better tomorrow with memories of a Mandalay sunset... It was a great evening!

It was a bit chilly the day I went but the beach is awesome! Can't wait for summer to come

Nice quiet beach away from it all! Bike rental, beach chairs and boogie boards near by. Plenty of unoccupied space ( on weekdays). Fairly clean BUT watch out for the tar...its a bugga to get off of you feet.

It was a cloudy day at the beach, grab a blanket and some wine!

You should never ever ever ever come to this beach. Go somewhere else. Santa Barbara is nice this time of year. Go away--I mean, go there.

This beach is clean and not as crowded as other more popular beaches. We stayed from 4:00pm - sundown and it was beautiful.

Beautiful, clean beach. Regardless of the parking situation it was nice to sit there for a couple hours after being pent up from quarantine.

Silver Strand State Beach

I decided to come here by myself on July 3rd. It was not nearly as crowded as Carpinteria City…read moreBeach that I just visited yesterday. The parking lot was full when I arrived at noon but I parked along San Nicholas Ave. It was not too far to walk to the beach entrance. Some things I liked about this beach was that it definitely was not crowded considering a lot of people are vacationing in the Ventura/Santa Barbara area in July and school is out. The farther away you move away from the restrooms and parking lot, the less and less people you will see on the beach. Parking in the parking lot is free but it's not very big so it's easy to see why it fills up quickly. The bathrooms are metal toilets and although there was seat covers there is no soap to wash your hands so you should bring hand sanitizer. There are 2 lifeguard towers but I only saw one active in the tower. The #2 lifeguard tower looked closed up. So you are better off sticking closer to the bathrooms for lifeguard safety. There were a lot of people surfing and boogie boarding here. At one point the lifeguard had to tells some boogie boarders to move down further and it looked like the section they were in was starting to look pretty rough. Dogs are not allowed between 9am-5pm but you will still see people walking their dogs on the beach. Overall it was a nice beach. I feel like there was definitely more driftwood here and more wood pieces in the sand that poke your feet but I did not encounter any tar on my feet at this beach which is a plus.

This is my FAVE park in Ventura because - IMO - it has everything you need for a great day at the…read morebeach. Let's start with FREE PARKING! Some local beaches are starting to charge, but this one still offers PLENTY of free parking. In addition, there are multiple playgrounds - including a pirate galleon from when the park was established during my childhood, a THOUSAND years ago! It doesn't have the zip line that caused me to smash my leg into the concrete side, leaving a still visible scar 1,000 years later, which is probably for the best, but a kinder/gentler playground with more modern amenities for today's active child. There is also an expansive grass area, where you will find many local pups bounding about with joy. On the grassy areas, BBQs! Also a protected, man made beach cove with an easy enter, small to no wave water entry. Lots of families prefer to set up their space on the green grass and then make their way to the beach, which is an ideal way to have your picnic sand free! A foot shower is also available to rinse the beach off before you settle back onto your blanket. Plenty of benches, tables and a bathroom that is, if I'm being completely honest, acceptable, but could use an upgrade. If you're more active, make your way to the public dock to launch your kayak, paddle board, etc. I've also seen people fishing from this dock and launching remote control boats - so cute! If you haven't brought your own board or boat, there is a rental kiosk handily available. This is also a great park to stroll through. A clear path goes from the parking lot to the tip of the Ventura Harbor entrance, known as Soter Point, where a beautiful sculpture stands. When I think of the perfect beach park, I think of Marina Park in Ventura. Cheers! "CC"
