We wandered into Oxnard to explore the beaches and this spot absolutely did not disappoint. Parking was easy, and getting to the beach was quick and convenient. The sand was clean, and there were clearly marked walking and bike paths, which made it perfect for a relaxing stroll or ride. The sand dunes were especially cool--I don't think I've ever been around dunes like these before, and they really added something special to the experience. We took a ride down to Oxnard to check out the Real Estate! oh and the Beach and the Ocean it was more of a discovery tour! Great day the sun shining and a slight ocean breeze. Beautiful, clean, and serene. We visited on a cloudy Thursday morning. The air was pleasantly cool, but not cold. At around 11 in the morning, there were a couple of locals biking or walking and plenty of seabirds strolling on the beach, fishing or showing off their avian skills in the air. There were also benches all around to sit and take in as much beauty as you possibly could before returning to your noisy neighborhood in San Fernando Valley. We parked in the 15- minute parking spots at the side of the road, but further down the street, there is paid parking, I think. read more

My wife's Christmas party was on Saturday December 10th here at the hotel. The owner of the company took care of the rooms for any of the employee's who were planning spending the night so they would be safe. From check in to check out and during the party, the employee's were very nice and friendly. We were impressed with our room. Very nice, roomy, clean and comfortable. The food at the party was delicious, starting with appetizers. Deviled eggs, crab cakes, coconut shrimp and filet mignon skewers. Entree's included salads, mashed potatoes, stuffing, green beans, salmon, prime rib with au jus and roasted turkey breast with gravy. There were also various desserts. Open bar the entire night! I know they recently renovated and remodeled the hotel. The pool and garden areas were beautiful. The only downside was 2 of the elevators. We reported the issues to the Front Desk. read more

This is a really beautiful lowkey clean beach in the area open from 7am to sunset. It is surrounded by a huge community of homes and almost seems as if it would be a private type beach but it is not. The sand spreads along the coast and leads to the several other beaches in the Oxnard/Ventura locale. There is no real parking area here and there are no facilities such as public restrooms, so plan accordingly. For parking you can park along Mandalay Beach Road which is free. read more

Love that this beach is not crowded and around 1230pm -1pm the sun comes out from under the overcast ... For the most part the beach is pretty clean and is close to the hotel so if you're staying there it's nice to be able to walk out to the beach. The people are all nice and chill was able to come with my daughters and spent some time on the beach for lunch . Like I said earlier we got there about 12/1230 and it was still some overcast but by 1pm it burned off and the sun was nice and bright and it warmed up real fast. Since it gives the illusion that it's going to rain I think people stay away for a bit then when it gets hot and the sun is really out people start to make their way over ... all and all a very chill spot to hang out read more

Beautiful, clean and almost always empty, Mandalay Beach is a hidden gem on the a Southern California coastline! Dogs are allowed on leash from sun up to sun down and most of the dog owners here abide by the leash law. Parking is limited but free, with additional parking spaces available in the local park. read more

What a beautiful find of a beach! It sits right in front of the Embassy Suites Mandalay bay Oceanfront rooms. Even though you have the hotel, boardwalk & bike rentals, it was if we had our own beach. It was a bit windy with a slight chill on an October day around 5pm & we were waiting for the sunset. They have plenty of parking for the state beach along the side of the hotel ( which gets chained up at dusk), the long sandy dunes had a handful of dog walkers , single people walking and I found no tar to step in. It was low tide and my girlfriend said she found some seaglass here the other night. I had no luck, but there were lots of smooth colorful stones & interesting driftwood. We sat on the beach with our collection of stones, a glass of wine in hand singing "It's a beautiful day at Mandaly bay" and watched the sky turn hues of pink and orange with palm trees scattered around us, and the most breathtaking California sunset (that rivaled my Hawaiian ones) I remember as a child. I couldn't glimpse a green flash, but knew it was going to be a great night and better tomorrow with memories of a Mandalay sunset... It was a great evening! read more

You should never ever ever ever come to this beach. Go somewhere else. Santa Barbara is nice this time of year. Go away--I mean, go there.

This beach is clean and not as crowded as other more popular beaches. We stayed from 4:00pm - sundown and it was beautiful.

Mixed reviews, but really strong in significant areas. First, this seems to attract families, both at the resort and on the boardwalk. We so enjoyed watching families having fun. Second, although I was terribly stressed about accommodations that included my dad, age 99, the staff was genuine. Katrina comes to mind, but also the managers...sorry I blur on your names. I think the problem for me was on the booking. I booked something online for the first floor that does not even exist! I ended up shouting about the fact that I did not want to share a king size bed with my 99 year old dad. Home safely. read more

Beautiful, clean beach. Regardless of the parking situation it was nice to sit there for a couple hours after being pent up from quarantine.

My new favorite beach! 1. The distance to reach the ocean from the parking lot is fairly short. 2. There's a free parking lot. 3. Clean bathroom isn't too far either. 4. used to sneak into this hotel when I was a kid and now I am a paying guest! Rooms are nice and clean . Place is quiet and big .

Wow.....this is the worst spot for your money as I have never experienced this kind of service before. I feel sorry for the employees that get abused by guests that are frustrated and angry for every step of the way...... 1. 40 min line to check in to front desk. 2. Called hotel in advance to reserve spa and staff transferred to wrong number 3 times until giving us the right number. Spa booking was done and had to wait outside spa until a outside party came to give us massage.....late 3. Phone did not work in room 4. We booked ocean front and they had sold our room to another party so we faced parking lot on our 10 yr anniversary 5. No safe in a room 6. We had to step outside by valet to get to our room I have arrived for two hrs now and this place is a joke...... Unfortunately, I had to leave a star for Yelp to allow me to continue I haven't even been here 2hrs yet so who read more

What a bad experience! Had my sons memorial there recently. I rented the presidential swt because it was on the ground floor and opened up to the lawn where the event was planned. THE ROOM- $900 ,, Brocken refrigerator, missing light fixture, second room had no power, windows so dirty I couldn't see through them, two broken door knobs, cracked and broken tiles in the bathroom, MOLD in both showers. THE EVENT- I paid $4500 for food. It was served 25 minutes late and five minutes before the memorial speech is started. Because of the late start 40% of the food was left over. I was told it would be packed and brought to my room so the immediate family who did not eat yet could eat, they lied to us and threw it out. $2000 worth of food thrown in the trash. Then they argued with me about it. They are giving me a partial refund on the room. But they screwed me on the food. This is not over by any means. My brother-in-law I rented a two room suite, when he got to his room it was 12 x 15 in size. When he called the front desk and asked him where the second room was he was informed that the couch pulls out. Don't get screwed by this place don't waste your money. The food department will be seeing me in court!! read more

Horrible bartender! She yelled across the dinning hall to leave so they can can clean an hour before closing. Shocking how she treats guests at a resort. The bathtubs did not drain in our 300$ suite. Also the jacuzzi was cold at night. This was for my sister in laws birthday and was very upset how they treated her on her special day. Also no one bothered to do anything to make our stay more accommodating. I give the 2 stars to the nice gentlemen taking care of the buffet. read more

Beautiful California Beach! We went up here the other day on a whim, driving up the coast with our dogs, looking for a nice spot to swim in the ocean and relax on beach. Madalay was the perfect spot. The beach wasn't crowed, there was free street parking right on the beach, the beach was well kept and clean, beautiful view of the ocean and beach houses on the other side of the road. There are Sand dunes with some trails at the back of the beach. Our dogs loved it and there weren't signs anyway that said we couldn't have them there. The dogs ran along the beach and played in the waves, it's a very nice beach! it doesnt stretch very far along the coast and parking is limited but overall definitly a great beach and a huge plus with the dogs! read more
