Willits is a logical stopping point on the way to the Redwoods, the coast, the Skunk Train etc. However, this is a one horse town pa'tner. In the olden days,The highway used to go right through it and was dotted with motels on it. This motel was here then. You will enjoy this place if you set your expectations correctly. As of June 2025, this is a newly renovated mid century motel. The rooms are very nice and match the website. So, i took a couple of shots outside the rooms. If you have a young family or a pet, it's hard to beat in this town. Location is not walkable to too much, Taco Bell, McDonald's etc. Oh, no breakfast as there is no lobby.

It was late at night (11 pm) and we rang the doorbell. Our wonderful experience began there with the owner who greeted us with a smile and a familial warmth. We got our room which was tasteful, practical and comfortable. Every day got better. We needed flexibility as we did not know how long we would be in town and Laura, Bob and Jan made us feel comfortable and helped us every step of the way. The grounds are clean and maintained, the pool and hot tub are inviting and intimate. Everyone there was so gracious and friendly - they really made our stay special. I read other reviews (some worse than what I said ) . So we weren't the only ones who were disrespected in such a matter . This is not the way customers should be treated and you will lose a lot of business acting this way.

This is the old Pepperwood Motel, and it's just a simple old roadside motel. It's obviously been around for a long time, but they have done renovations. I liked the place. I was in room 105, just across from the office. The room was basic. It was a bit stuffy when I first came in, but the air conditioner made it comfortable almost immediately. Everything was very clean, including the bathroom and the shower. The TV was a Roku TV, that also got Dish Network. So there was plenty of things to watch. The TV had a nice picture. The Wi-Fi was fast enough to stream video most of the time, although just a couple of times, I did get a tiny bit of buffering. Overall, not bad. . (I don't know if the Wi-Fi signal changes if you get further away from the office. ) The bed was a little bit firm for my personal taste, but everybody's different. I still got a good night's sleep. Have never seen such dirty floors in a hotel room. The worst part was the blood stain on the mattress.

We were pleasantly surprised by the reasonable cost but were skeptical about what we would get. The desk person was very pleasant. The room was outdated but very clean, which was fine with us. Cons: the AC unit is located high on the wall near the ceiling and was set at 60 degrees. I had to climb on a chair to reset the temperature. The fan in the bathroom is connected to the light switch and was very noisy when turned on. We avoided turning it on as much as possible. The bed was very soft and was difficult to roll over especially for two people. All in all it was worth the price we paid and much better than the Motel6 we stayed at a week before.
