Willits is a logical stopping point on the way to the Redwoods, the coast, the Skunk Train etc. However, this is a one horse town pa'tner. In the olden days,The highway used to go right through it and was dotted with motels on it. This motel was here then. You will enjoy this place if you set your expectations correctly. As of June 2025, this is a newly renovated mid century motel. The rooms are very nice and match the website. So, i took a couple of shots outside the rooms. If you have a young family or a pet, it's hard to beat in this town. Location is not walkable to too much, Taco Bell, McDonald's etc. Oh, no breakfast as there is no lobby.

We were pleasantly surprised by the reasonable cost but were skeptical about what we would get. The desk person was very pleasant. The room was outdated but very clean, which was fine with us. Cons: the AC unit is located high on the wall near the ceiling and was set at 60 degrees. I had to climb on a chair to reset the temperature. The fan in the bathroom is connected to the light switch and was very noisy when turned on. We avoided turning it on as much as possible. The bed was very soft and was difficult to roll over especially for two people. All in all it was worth the price we paid and much better than the Motel6 we stayed at a week before.

Orr hot springs is not that, but it doesn't claim to be. The good: - It really does have unique historic, rustic, nature, hippy charm. -The tubs are pretty cool and not something I've seen in a lot of other hot spring resorts. Nice to have some alone time. - It is unique, and that's why I gave it four stars rather than two. -The communal kitchen and lobby are great and I love the seeing all the great food people are cooking! -They have wagons you can put your stuff in to carry from the car to the campgrounds. This is much nicer than carrying by hand. Great addition. The bad: -The sauna's need to be significantly improved. They're super small, and if someone opens the door it can take minutes to-reheat. It was cold after two people came in. -There are rules/signs everywhere! It felt like every five feet there was another sign saying what to do. It feels like the whole system relys on each person doing things exactly right when it could just "work". For example, there's a gate that goes to the campgrounds right next to a tent site. They tell people to close it silently. If the gate was better designed or there was no gate, the guests wouldn't have to worry about closing it silently. Now multiple that sign/placard by 50x. There's a lot of signs and rules. If you go to a place like Harbin, you don't have to worry about rules everywhere, the design of the facility "just works" -It didn't feel as clean as other resorts I've been to. -To place a reservation over the phone, you have to call, and they call you back. I don't know why think guests want this experience instead of picking up the phone. This is hard especially if you're in a place like Mendocino going in and out of reception and you have no idea when they'll call you back to just to place a reservation. Overall: Not a fancy hotel, a unique experience and worth a visit if you happen to be in area.

KNOW BEFORE YOU GO: This place is on another level…read more My wife and I have stayed at plenty of RV resorts, and I can confidently say this is the best one we've ever visited... hands down! If you're traveling through Northern California, put this place on your list. In fact, we'd go out of our way just to stay here again. What makes it so impressive is that they've thought of everything. There's a dog park, mini golf, a kids' fun zone, a train pickup location, a hot tub, incredible views, and even dedicated areas that are perfect for taking photos, shooting content, or capturing some seriously cool social media shots. But the amenities are only part of it. The entire property is beautifully maintained, the grounds are incredible, and the staff couldn't have been more helpful, knowledgeable, and welcoming. You can tell there's a real attention to detail here that separates this place from your typical RV resort. We originally planned this trip around visiting the Redwoods, but after staying here, our next Northern California trip might be planned around the resort itself. It's the kind of place where you could easily park the RV, forget the itinerary, and spend a few days doing absolutely nothing except relaxing and enjoying everything the property has to offer. And did I mention the hot tub, the views, and all the ridiculously cool amenities? Seriously... what a place! If you're anywhere near this part of Northern California, stay here. And even if you're not exactly nearby, it's worth the detour. 10/10. We'll absolutely be back.

Suggestions for improvements would be to just keep things maintained. Don't put a sign on something if it is broke, fix it. Way too many signs about everything. Make a disc golf map. Post the Skunk train schedule so we know when to go to the depot. Keep the mini-golf area nice. Make improvements. Actually put up a basketball hoop. Put up a volleyball net and weed the court.

Unfortunately we heard a sound coming from the engine area as we pulled into our site, and it did not sound good. The campground and sites were immaculate. My husband enjoyed looking at all the fencing and swing sets that we found out later Travis had built from the down redwoods on the property. We enjoyed playing corn hole and visiting our neighboring campers. As we started to leave the following morning, the sound was louder. Our friend who was traveling with us is very mechanical. He thought it was the air conditioner compressor. Travis came to the site and agreed with the assessment. Travis knew people in town, but it was Sunday. They allowed us to stay another night. Travis came by in the morning after making calls for us and took our friend to town to get the part. The part had to be ordered, Travis allowed us to stay another night to wait for the part. Travis and our friend Kyle picked up the part and we thought we were set! The two of them put the part on, but they needed another part (a serpentine belt). Of course, the part store said it would be in the following day. Once again, Travis allowed us to stay another night. The following morning Travis and Kyle went to town to get the belt. The two of them worked on it and had us up and running. As we pulled into our next campground in Gold Beach, I received a text. It was Travis wanting to make sure we were ok. We can not say enough positive things about the campground, professionalism and the hospitality. We will be back, hopefully sooner than later.
