But we did and I asked the airport mgr/employee in the office if we could use them. "No Problem". They were very clean and well kept. As far as the airport. I wish I had had more time to explore but when I saw that the CDF had a base there I went over to ask if I could take pics. I did and they were very nice. They have 2 S-2T Trackers and and OV-10 Bronco based there. In addition I did notice a CalStar Medical Helo and a BT-17 Vultee down at the other end. I would stop by again there if I had extra time too. Very nice airport.

Security was quick, getting to the gate was simple, and the whole experience felt refreshingly relaxed compared to the usual airport chaos. It's the kind of airport where you can actually enjoy the beginning or end of your trip instead of counting the minutes until you're through security. My only disappointment--and the reason for four instead of five stars--is that I expected a lot more Charles M. Schulz. With the airport carrying his name, I was hoping for more Snoopy, Charlie Brown, Woodstock, and Peanuts-themed artwork or displays throughout the terminal. There are a few touches here and there, but I left wishing they had leaned into the theme much more. It feels like a missed opportunity to give the airport a unique personality and celebrate one of the area's most beloved icons. That said, it's still a great little airport. Clean, efficient, friendly, and about as painless as air travel gets. If you're flying in or out of Sonoma County, this is a wonderful place to start your journey--I just hope they let Snoopy take over a little more someday. 4 stars!!

Yesterday was my first time flying into Nut Tree (KVCB) Airprot but, now that I know what to expect…read moreonce on the ground I plan on making Nut Tree a routine destination. More on that in a moment. Nut Tree is an uncontrolled airport with one just over 4000 foot runway. It's well maintained and if flying in or out after hours, the PCL is above average. Fuel. Is also reasonable at $4.72 per gallon and they do maintain a pilots lounge area to take a break (hours unknown). After landing and parking at one of the many spots with chain tie downs, it's a short walk via the field behind the hangers to local eateries or the Vacaville Outlets. A few mentionable items: Runway 2 is the calm wind runway with a left traffic pattern. If your flying to or from the South and progressing through Travis's Airspace, be sure you establish two way radio comms with Travis Approach. Remember, Travis still is an active AFB. The gate leaving the airport to the shopping area has a code but, that gate combo lock is a bit tricky. Be sure you play code and lock before leaving the gate so you don't lock yourself out.

We flew in for the day for food and drink (no wine for the pilot...hmph!). The runway and taxiways are in top shape. Parking is secure, and Avgas is cheap! 4 temporary spots for transient parking and the admin building has clean bathrooms and lots of wine country brouchures. Call Healdsburg Taxi Co. (707) 433-7088 for a $20 ride into town ..... or pack some folding bicycles in the luggage compartment and pedal to town through some beautiful wine country. There are numerous wineries right around the airport, though I highly recommend going into town for the experience..... not to mention the fab food ! Tips* -Write down the security door code before exiting.... you'll need it. -Small runway, final gets a bit squirrely in a crosswind, so be ready.

There's maybe 3 dozen airplanes based here that don't fly much, an ineffective local pilot group without much cohesion, and an average maintenance facility that runs the airport like their personal fiefdom. The city of Healdsburg would rather sell the real estate than manage an airport so that piss poor attitude is reflected in a minimalist facility.

The Red Bluff Municipal Airport is owned by the City of Red Bluff and operated by the Fixed Base Operator, Cardan Aircraft Services. The call sign, is RBL and there's just one runway, or I guess two if you count the different approach directions. The have basic services here like fuel and food at a nice cafe on site. I met one of my bosses who flew in from LA here and he said it was no prob landing and the restaurant was super tasty. Parking isn't a prob like at some bigger airports. I don't think there's a rental car place here, so you might have to arrange that ahead of time. Easy fly in and fly out, that's the way to go. Easy access off the 5 freeway too.

The trip is always on the longer side with all the stops, so just plan for that going in...it's not the fastest ride, but it is simple and stress free. Everything is pretty organized and boarding is smooth, which makes the whole process easy. Only real downside on my recent trip is that there was no AC, which definitely made the longer ride feel way warmer and stuffy than ideal. The busses are showing some slight wear and tear but they aren't completely run down. I've never really had major complaints. Overall solid 7/10. A good no frills option to get to and from the airport to wine country.

But traveling…read morefrom Sonoma County to STS requires some extra attention because the buses from SFO and OAK traveling to STS are running all the time, but can't get on one of them to travel to STS because drivers don't take payment unless it is cash and making a reservation is difficult from Sonoma County to STS. Buses will not stop at scheduled time if there is not a scheduled pick up or drop off.
