Nothing fancy at all. This is an old-fashioned Motor court. I was very happy with what I got. I only paid $77 out the door for the night..... It's an older motel, but it's been kept up extremely well. There's obviously been renovations, because all of the one star reviews are from years and years ago. The room, including the bathroom was older, but spotless, the bathroom had a shower instead of a bathtub, but the shower had a built-in bath mat to help keep you from slipping . The heater kept me plenty warm..... the TV got a good picture, and a good number of channels. There were enough plugs to charge my gear. There was a fridge, a microwave, and. A small coffee pot. There wasn't a closet, but there was a place to hang my clothes. The bed was a little bit firm for my personal taste, but I still got a very good nights sleep. I was very happy. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. Thank you. read more

Wonderful budget hotel - very clean, very comfortable! It is sad to see bad reviews from years back - clearly they must have upgraded, because I've been all over the world and this is a VERY good budget motel option, clean and spacious, and an easy check in with a kind and professional receptionist. I HIGHLY recommend this for Willits, if you need a night there, or a few. Of course there are a lot of options in this small town, and if you have a lot of means there are plenty of quaint inns - but for a budget option this is pretty much as good as you can get. i would urge anyone not to pay too much head to bad reviews from five or six years ago - this is a clean motel in a great location along the main drive, and for a budget traveler like myself an absolute gem. My partner and I came into town for a concert/benefit at the museum, and we were pleasantly surprised at the cleanliness and location of this hotel. It appears to be recently renovated. Everything was clean, freshly painted, in good working order and we would definitely stay here again if we were passing through town read more

Our family car broke down on the way home from Fort Bragg. We needed a dog friendly place to wait while we figured out what to do with our broken car so we got a double room to keep our family of five cool and semi entertained with a TV. It was affordable, comfortable, the bathroom was small but functional and allowed us to take some post camping showers. It was a clean cool place to rest and wait and we were thankful it was around the corner from our mechanic. They clean the rooms daily. read more

-5 Good heavens- it was filthy. When I chose a "no frills" hotel for a quick night's sleep before getting back on the road, I expected just that -no frills. I did not expect the absolutely filthy conditions I discovered at the Lark Motel. Dried-up, chewed gum on the floor by the bed, cigarette ashes in the windowsill, mold spots on the bathroom wall and absolute grunge on the bathroom floor. I immediately removed the 1970's bedspread from our bed, because it clearly was not fresh, which uncovered the bleach-spotted sheets (THANK GOD FOR BLEACH). Nothing but broken hanger hooks to hang your coat on.... so sketchy. I felt like I needed to sleep with one eye open. I would rather sleep in my car behind a gas station than have a repeat visit to the Lark. Just say no- don't go. read more

However if you first go to home depot and buy a ton of cleaning supplies, window curtains, and then skip over to marshalls or costco and get some clean new sheets, towels, and a mattress that might work. Tried to check in late last night. I was given a tag to fill out. I put down my info and handed the night clerk my ID and my husband's credit card (he was sleeping in the car). The lady at the night window said the info on the card had to match the tag, so I filled out a new tag with my husband's info and again handed her the tag, his credit card and she asked for my ID. The lady got super irritated and said the ID had to match the tag and credit so I asked her to wait while I went and got him. She got really upset, told me how frustrating I was and then refused service and said sorry we don't have the room after all and shut the window and walked away. I have never had this issue with any other hotel. I have many friends who stay in Willits because it's very close to Fort Bragg and much cheaper than hotels on the coast. I will make sure to tell everyone to avoid this establishment like the plague. read more

This is one of the most disgusting motels I have ever attempted to stay at. I say attempted because the moment I walked into my room, I couldn't stay there longer than ten minutes. Terrible service, check in was said to be at 2 but they made us wait nearly a whole other hour to check in. The room was disgusting and smelled of cigarettes. The bed sheets had burnt cigarette holes in them and possibly signs of bedbugs?? The bathroom was hardly cleaned and the beds were made from stone. The management needs huge upgrades for this business to even continue in my opinion. I'd give this zero stars if possible. A little advice, avoid this place at all costs. read more

My sister and I rented one of their rooms for $130, it was well not worth the money there were spiders and ants, and it just looked gross, we called up the front desk asked for another room which they were very nice about the situation and the second room we got was actually pretty nice. read more

DO NOT STAY HERE. I wish I could give zero stars. I have stayed here once before and it was ok. (I stayed on the other side of the motel in a one bed room which is apparently the slightly better rooms. This time I was in a two bed room.) But on my second stay, it was a disaster. There was a violent assault that occurred in the room next to me and right outside my door. It started with a group having a drinking party on their tailgate right in front of my room. It was even extra loud because there was a half inch space where the wall a/c unit was installed, with free air that flies also came in. It was like having a window cracked. The owners did nothing about the party, so I just tried to ignore it, figuring people are having a good time and hopefully they'll quiet down soon. But instead it turned into screaming and cursing fights, I won't go into all the details here but multiple calls were made to the police and someone was arrested for assault. This all happened literally right outside my door and window. My daughter and I were just staying in the room and really had nowhere to go to. The episode was at least 2 hours, not including the tailgate party beforehand. We could not sleep most of the night. And after all that, the managers banged on my door at 11 am sharp, as we were packed and walking toward the door, to remind us to check out. No offers of any way to make it right or consideration for us as guests at all. And the room is bad. There's the open space in the wall, the shower is 22 inches by 22 inches, I kept banging my elbows into the wall and I'm not a big person at all. Also the furniture, the walls, the windows, everything is shabby and dirty. I know it's a budget motel, but it was still $100 a night and I knew it wasn't fancy. But this was all just too much to pay anything for. Also, the office was locked with no sign on how to check in. Apparently you use the night bell and they come help you through a tiny window. I understand Covid precautions, but a sign would have been nice. It's like they already are showing you how little consideration you will receive as a paying customer. Run away from this place. There are multiple motels in Willits. Drive to Ukiah or Laytonville if you have to. But don't stay here. I have pictures of the police and everything but I won't show that here. I don't like to write bad reviews but this place deserves it. It's an old fashioned motor court, and we like those because we can park the motorcycles right outside the room. But this place was the worst. Stains on the carpet, stains on the walls, self adhesive tiles peeling up in the bathroom, our friends in the next room had to ask to have their room vacuumed. Our room had a fridge so I went to the store and got some beer, what a surprise when I opened the door! It wasn't plugged in and had some previous guest's chinese take-out inside. Stinky!!! about a half hour after asking the office to have it removed I carried it out to the parking lot myself...Surprise...someones old underwear was behind the fridge. This place must not have a cleaning staff. Several "permanent residents" in the rooms farthest from the street kept us awake all night with whatever transactions were keeping them busy; so even though the bed wasn't too bad sleep was hard to come by. About three hours after asking to have the fridge removed some one did wander out of the office with a dolly and pick it up. This place is cheap but not worth the price. read more

We have stayed at the Lark Motel 3 times in the last 6 months. It is a basic, no-frills, inexpensive motel, but it was clean and functional. We were glad there was a refrigerator, coffee maker, microwave, free wifi, and a firm bed. Checking in was easy, and the person in the office was efficient and pleasant. We will continue to stay at the Lark for trips where we just need a clean, inexpensive place to spend the night, and will not be there long enough to enjoy resort-type amenities. read more

Just checked in about 45 minutes ago. Room appears to be pretty nice. Sheets are flower and leaf pattern which is rare in a motel as far as I know. Bathroom is a bit cramped for a big person like me. The toilet seat is really loose. I'm always afraid of pinching my thigh. THAT HURTS!! LOL No bathtub, which is fine by me, however there is a stall shower which may be a bit challenging for me. Carpets pretty worn out. Pet friendly just declare you have one. I was not charged a deposit. I did tell him that my dog is extremely housebroken, almost to a fault. (This is true.) Overall this is one of the nicer motels in Willits. Oh ya which reminds me, the proprietor seems to be nicer then most. Oh there's also a coffee maker and fridge here in the room. read more

Arrived 8:15pm on Dec 26th after calling ahead; when we got there, the woman running the office was behind bulletproof glass, no AARP discount, she wouldn't open the office door (as if we were bank robbers?), and when I asked to see the room before going through the POS stuff...she refused claiming "...we don't show the rooms once it's night....". We just rolled our eyes and went to the redwood inn; better rooms, friendlier, and $10 less. read more

If you value your health and well being than I advise you to not stay here. Our room wasn't even cleaned before we arrived. Decades of filth and stench that permeate the entire and your sole as you sleep. You'll want to keep the window open for sure. The Lark motel; not the best place I've stayed, but not the worst. I was a bit concerned about this motel when I was reading their reviews, both on Yelp and online booking sites. The Lark is neither the most expensive nor the cheapest in Willits, but it served our needs for a rest stop before travelling on. We stop in Willits every couple of years on our way to one of the many music festivals in Northern California, and because the hotel we used to stay at has raised their prices too high for us now, we tried The Lark. The room we received was average sized for California motels, but as mentioned in other reviews; the shower is pretty small, and the bathroom has kind-of a poor layout. After driving for hours we decided to push through to Willits which was the only place we could find a hotel that said they had a room available. We told them that we wouldn't be there until midnight. I arrived at 2357, three minutes earlier than predicted. The lady behind the desk had gone to bed. She was too tired to bother checking me in and denied us a room. Judging from the cars in the parking lot, they could have used the business. Do not let you dog stay here. You would be better sleeping in your car along the highway. Came to town to visit for a bit. First night the people next door to us got in a fight and the owner kicked us out at 11:30pm. We tried to explain it was not us...but to no avail. He called the cops and made a scene funny thing the fighting people got to stay? He threw us out and kept the cash we paid (we did not use a credit card our bad!) to stay 3 nights. The staff were pleasant enough (minimal interaction), the place was clean, and it was quiet, esp for being right on the main drag of Hwy 101. Would I stay there again? No more of this motel for me and I've stayed there a few times since 1990 back when it had a big beautiful shade tree in the parking lot - long gone. My problem began when my eyeglasses disappeared in the room and I thought they had fallen on the floor. I got a good look at the carpet up close and personal and all I can say is it was very dirty. Please clean your carpets more frequently or either rip them up and go to wood floors. read more

At the beginning of May, my boyfriend and I were facing homelessness, and were put in a position where we needed immediate shelter. After calling a few other motels in Willits, the Lark was the only one with pet friendly rooms available. We booked the room for three nights, and instantly regretted it. The floors were filthy, the sheets and pillowcases had stains, and the remote for the tv didn't work. We had to wait a couple hours to get clean sheets and a replacement remote. Which was whatever. When we finally checked out, the woman woman wanted to keep my $100 deposit, because there was only one tv remote in the room. I told her that her husband took the broken one when he gave us the replacement. I had to wait an additional hour after checking out to receive my deposit back, because she wanted to wait for her husband to return to make sure we weren't stealing the original tv remote (which was completely broken and not worth a dime). Once he returned, he confirmed that he had taken the old one and threw it out. After settling into our new place, and getting everything unpacked, I realized that I forgot my very expensive robe hanging behind the bathroom door in the motel. My boyfriend called them to see if someone had found it and expressed how much it was worth not only financially, but sentimentally. The lady on the phone said they put it in a bag, and had it stored in their laundry room. My boyfriend then explained that we wouldn't be able to get it right away, but would definitely be back to pick it up. The woman assured him that it would stay in the laundry room. About two and a half to three weeks later, I drove up to the hotel and explained who I was and what I was looking for. The woman, the same one we spoke to on the phone, walked into the laundry room, and returned to tell me that they had disposed of it. I asked her why, after the phone conversation we had, would she throw it away. She said "we're not a storage facility". I totally understand that, but then why tell me over the phone that they would hold onto it for me? These people seem super shady, and look for any reason to keep your deposit. I wouldn't be surprised if they kept the robe for themselves. I would think twice before staying here. read more

The beds were fine. About the best you can say. Several hairs around on the bathroom floor and in the shower. The shower head couldn't be adjusted to do anything but spray you in the face. One stay was more than enough for me. Rather pricey for substandard facilities. read more

We had 2 rooms and carpet was terrible in both rooms. They were both stained and filthy! Neither rooms had ANY hot water for showering. The shower was cold beginning to end. The room rate plus tax was $66, but not worth the room. Next time will pay more and stay somewhere else. read more

Stayed 1 night out of 3 booked it was the dirtiest place i have ever seen , the smell was terrible and the staff were rude , when i went to desk made my complaint they looked at me like i was crazy ,i evn took pictures and showed them they became ruder , and wouldnt let us cancel so i took key and left went to give key back they wouldnt even talk to us , the manager sent over a 5 yr old child to gey keys ...i called booking .com rhey werent much help either i would ny recommend this motel or booking.com for your travel needs. read more

I do not like to give bad reviews but this place is filthy. When the Valley Fire broke out this was the closest place that had a room so we booked two. Black mold all over the ceiling and walls in the bathrooms, carpet was gross, and the beds had black all around the outside of the mattress (pretty sure that's an indication of bugs). I asked if I could pay to stay a couple hours after checkout so I could see if I could get back down to Lake County (there were still multiple rooms open in this place) and was told "No, my cleaning lady needs to get in." Funny, because the cleaning lady did absolutely nothing in any of the rooms. In three days I did not see her once take out bedsheets of any room to launder. Disgusting. They also do not check ID so there was plenty of sketchy characters to keep us up all night going in and out of their rooms, while one car had a guy sitting in it all night keeping watch. My boyfriend and I do a lot of last minuet traveling out of necessity with out a lot of money, so we are always looking for the cheapest hotels. We usually get very lucky; I do my research online , read the reviews, and we have even asked to see the room before hand. Well tonight is the first time we got a bad deal, and the first time I am writing a review. It first starts with me walking in to the lobby, saying I saw on Priceline $45 a night for a queen smoking room. The lady, was rude and nasty and said all we have is smoking, I said that's what we want. AS I was standing there waiting for my boyfriend to get the licence plate another guest walked in to check in, she had a reservation the lady working was nice to her. So all they have is smoking... I see two cars in the parking lot, one is ours, and I see two other rooms occupied. Discrimination.... Maybe not, but I think so. The first room they put us in smelled, and none of the lights worked, so the moved us. The second room smelled, and only 2 of the 3 lights in the main room worked. The third light can't be plugged in. We are very easy going, lets just make it work, where we stayed last night since the heater didn't work we just asked for a space heater, we don't have to move rooms just be comfortable. When we brought this to managements attention, and we said do you have an extension cord, he said it was stolen, as he walked away I replied, that's not my problem Nothing was done. I paid a $10 deposit, and you cant give me a $5 extension ccord. The second room also smells.... I couldn't figure out what the smell was... IT IS CAT PISS.... The management is such a paing to deal with I went and bought my own febreeze and a candle. But now I notice the room does not have a smoke detector. How do you not have a smoke detector in a smoking room... So lets hope the people in the next room don't fall asleep with a cigarette. Also, under door there is a gap that is large enough you could easily fit a hand under it. If I was single or a single mom I would never stay here. Thank goodness is cold, because the AC doesn't work. The curtains have DUST on them and if that's not bad enough, the blanket on the bed is disgusting a the Sheets, luckily we brought a sleeping bag and a blanket. But why am I paying for a room when I have to have my own linens, and stuff so I don't smell cat piss. I would be more comfortable in my car. The walls are disgustingluy dirty, same with the night stands, not to mention writing all over the place. Both mirrors are dirty the one in the bathroom has Toy Story stickers on it. There is one plug in the whole room and its in the bathroom I will sleep in my car rather then stay here agan!! read more

After suddenly being displaced from our home my boyfriend and I stayed there frequently as they are cheap and one of the few hotels in Willits who will accept people under 21. They rarely ID and dont require a deposit if you pay in cash, which is convenient. The owners can be nice enough, although they don't seem to mind if residents blast music and fight in the parking lot late at night. Supposedly non smoking rooms often reek of weed upon entry, and will even have ashtrays in them. The floors will be poorly vacuumed and the towels and sheets have holes in them. The boxsprings to the beds are grimy, and after checking out and coming back to the same room many times it became apparent that the maid only changes the sheets and pillow cases, and not the fuzzy brown blanket. I know it's common practice for hotels to reuse the comforter in a room without washing it for a while, but when there are clearly visible stains of dubious origin on something people will be in close contact with, it isn't unreasonable to expect the employee to take the time to deal with it. Once, while my boyfriend was sick with food posioning and clearly did not want to be disturbed, they sternly insisted that the maid needed to service the room, so after waiting for her to finally bring her cart around, she peeked in, saw that the room was perfectly clean, shrugged, and left. On top of this, after checking out for a few nights and then returning, one of the owners accused us of leaving the room smelling like urine...? My boyfriend and I always try to leave rooms as clean as possible, and are both fairly well toliet trained so I don't understand where that accusation came from. When we finally got into our room that day we discovered the toilet hadn't been cleaned since the prior guest, and evidence of them was left splattered on the seat and in the bowl. We were mortified and disgusted, but also so exhausted from being awake all the night before that rather than go through the frustrating and lengthy process of explaining a problem to the maid or owners, we dealt with it ourselves. If you need something relatively cheap and low fuss, this place is okay, but don't expect anything of quality... or clean toilet seats. read more
