I was passing through town. I called ahead, and got a room for only $79 plus tax on a Thursday night. Not bad at all. This is the old Pepperwood Motel, and it's just a simple old roadside motel. It's obviously been around for a long time, but they have done renovations. I liked the place. I was in room 105, just across from the office. The room was basic. It was a bit stuffy when I first came in, but the air conditioner made it comfortable almost immediately. Everything was very clean, including the bathroom and the shower. The TV was a Roku TV, that also got Dish Network. So there was plenty of things to watch. The TV had a nice picture. The Wi-Fi was fast enough to stream video most of the time, although just a couple of times, I did get a tiny bit of buffering. Overall, not bad. . (I don't know if the Wi-Fi signal changes if you get further away from the office. ) The bed was a little bit firm for my personal taste, but everybody's different. I still got a good night's sleep. There was a desk that you could either work or eat at, there were plenty of plugs to charge my gear. And there was a both a fridge and a microwave in the room. There were some scuffs on the furniture, and a little chip in a corner of the shower, but hey, that's just cosmetic. There were a few small things. As I said, this is a basic motel room, and there is not a closet, or a place where you can hang your clothes. The shower had plenty of pressure, and plenty of hot water. It takes a few seconds for the hot water to come on. Also, the shower has neither a bathmat or a grab bar, so you do have to be careful while you are taking your shower Also When I got there, the batteries in the remote were low, and the bed only had two pillows, and they were kind of flat. I went to the office, and I got new batteries for the remote, and I also got an extra pillow. The people that run the motel were very nice. Overall, this was a good stay. I would stay here again. They have HORRIBLE customer service, the Indian lady on the phone is extremely rude and unprofessional, tries to say that everyone's name there is "Pat." Hung up on me when I tried to inquire on room rates and info on the location, and when I called back she asked why am I calling, everyone there is named Pat and then when I asked for someone else to help me she said no one else works there just her so if I try to call back no one will help me. She's an absolute bitch and explains why this rundown location has barely 2 stars. Absolute trash. read more

This was the absolute worst experience the room was filthy, bathe floor dirty walls were dirty and simple wipe down would have done wounders bathroom light was going out when we arrived and no water. That makes me wounder how they were even cleaning. We moved the little nightstand light to use in the bathroom so we could see and all the power went out the lamp wiring was frayed and lose. Delt with until morning husband went to complain and get our money back they were rude and unwilling eventually I was offered a room to brush my teeth and do my makeup so we could continue our trip a total of 15 min, in a much better room but still dirty. Formerly named Pepperwood Motel (could've been Bates Motel before that) I booked this place through Priceline.com. Coming from Fort Bragg, we arrived in this little town of Willits around 7:00p Saturday evening. Prior to checking in we drove by the units to scope the area... we saw -insert- dun dun duuun (dramatic sound effect) and we were debating if we should just drive home so we called the front desk and asked if we could cancel our stay but that would mean that we would still be charged the booking price without the 48-hour notice. Dang it... We were only here for the night. The owners were very nice and check-in was easy. She gave us a room that was separated from the rest of the units with another room that was adjacent to ours. We didn't have to drive further inside the property to get to our room. In fact, we parked right in front of the office. Yasss! The path to get to our room was through the front and side, kind of private. This made our stay nice and pleasant. The room is small but clean. It has the basic amenities - a queen size bed, a small fridge, a microwave oven and a flat screen TV. Check-out time was at 11:00a. Overall, pleasant stay. The motel is right next to Mariposa Market, a natural food grocery. It is located in the heart of Main Street and is near walking distance to restaurants, gas and a few blocks from a movie theater. We don't mind coming back and staying at this place again as long as we get the same room, away from the rest of the units. Review #1113 read more

I got bed bugs while there. Staff was friendly enough. Huge fight in the room next to me which kept me up all night.

I stay in Willits for business from time to time, and have tried several motels, including Baechtel Creek. Redwood Inn has become my go-to. It's a simple place, has all the basic amenities, is clean, and the staff are nice. Wi-fi is a little slow; OK for email and social, but don't plan on streaming video here. Most rooms are away from the road so they're pretty quiet. I don't understand the bad reviews it's gotten here, nor do I agree with them. I'll be staying with them later this week. read more

The warning signs were there: drunk guy at the counter, ancient dried up pool, but lured by the cool neon sign and gourmet-sounding name, we checked in, fingers crossed. Could be worse was the first impression: dorm fridge, microwave, the standard deep dish Zenith TV. Looks like everything else was updated around the turn of the 80s. The stain-hider sheets and no touch blankets at best provide relief that a shower is available in the am. Calgon, take me away! read more

Service is horrible! They were extremely rude and worse- dishonest. This is a low-grade motel. The accommodations are minimal. Do not leave your belongings in the room! They will steal them. I left my belongings in my room and left for the day. I told the person at the front desk ( one of the owners) that I will return after check-out time and give them money for the following night. They agreed, and said that it was O.K. to leave my things in the room that I had checked into. When I returned later that afternoon with money for another night, they had removed my things and checked me out of the room. They deny taking my belongings. I was so angry that I left and went to the motel down the street which is 100 X better! Do not stay here! They are thieves and dishonest. read more

This hotel is broke down infested with drugs.the owners are assholes who charged me for 2 rooms then tried to tell me i only get 1 room and he rented out 1 ..didn't i pay for 2? After i showed him my booking # and price i was suppose to pay, he cancelled both rooms forcing me to seek other accommodations after driving 4 hrs. Very disappointed. I do not recommend. read more

I gave this hotel one star because I could not give it zero. As far as I could tell there where no bed bugs, however that was just about the only bug they didn't have. The carpet was stiff and had an assortment of stains. I only took my shoes off when I was in the bed. The bed is like the rest of the hotel, so use your imagination. Now for the crown jewel; the bathroom. The bathroom was full of black mold, and there were bugs stuck in the mold and in the plastic insert in the shower curtain. The icing on the cake was the mold on the towels. All that aside, the family the operates the hotel was very nice. read more

I have never ever dealt with such bad service ! We booked a room on Air B&B and thought this place looked perfect to stay for the night. I couldn't be more wrong! My boyfriend and I drove 11 hours ( from southern CA ) to Willits, CA for his training (he's a firefighter). We called numerous times before arriving in an attempt to make sure that the booking was all in order , but no one answered !! We finally arrived at 3am in the morning and honestly thought there was no one in the front office because we knocked for a while and no one appeared. As we were about to leave my boyfriend saw someone and walked back to check in. My boyfriend noted that the man working seemed as though he was either drunk or really out of it. We finally got our key, parked in our designated spot and unloaded our luggage. We walked up to the door, unlocked it, and to our surprise a mans voice yelled out "Wrong room!" . We were absolutely embarrassed to find out we had walked / tried to barge into a room that was already occupied by an older couple at 3AM in the morning !!! We instantly put our luggage back in the car and decided to leave. My boyfriend went to the office , requested a full refund, and we left! We won't be booking a room here ever again! Read reviews on TripAdvisor about this being clean and quiet. We just needed a place to sleep and had a pet. When we get to our room I almost walked out of the room. The list is too long ...disgusting and will be sleeping in my sleeping bag! Not worth the 97 we paid for room, pet fee and taxes. read more

I didn't actually stay here, although we checked in, and were given a key to the room. When I opened the door there was a big naked man sprawled out on the bed! We got our money refunded and checked in down the street at the Old West Inn. Much cleaner, safer feeling and also cheap. read more

This place is a joke. We booked online a couple weeks before our visit . We arrived to the hotel around 9:30 on a Saturday night. When we went to check in the lady handed us a receipt and said she rented out our room to someone else! What the hell? You charge me for a room and have the nerve to rent it to someone else! She had said that she had a room for us down the street at the lark motel. When we got there the lady gave us a weird ass rude look. She gave us our key. We got in the room and it was the ugliest room I had been to in the state of California. There was garbage in the room on the floor. The walls were stained and had chips and holes in them, the carpet was stained and I wouldn't even imagine putting my barefeet on it, the bathroom had a slimey slippery water puddle right at the entrance, the night stand tables had a sticky substance on them , the air conditioning didn't work, the bedding was absolutely disgusting and scratchy as well.!!!! To top it all off we had paid for a king size bed at the Redwood inn but we were given a queen bed at an absolute dump. We need some type of compensation @redwoodinn. The ladies at both hotels were of Indian decent. I'm not sure if they do this all the time to help bring business to the lark motel but that's the vibe I got. They tried to rent our room out twice to maximize there profits and send a us to lesser value room that no one wanted to stay in and that was almost unrentable. We got small town hustled.
