Called and got a quote. I ordered a 1/4 cord of wood. They delivered less than that. They also charged Pasadena sales tax when they are located in Altadena . Didn't appreciate that either. Some of the wood they delivered was rotten or non burnable . They did give have the best price but underperformed. I guess the saying is true, you get what you pay for . read more

We ordered and paid for 1/2 cord of firewood (4' x 4' x 4'). When the delivery truck arrived, the firewood was loose in the bed of the truck, not in racks, but the driver told me it had been measured before it went in the truck. It looked a little light but there's always some variance and I was willing to take his word for it. After I re-stacked and measured it, I discovered that what was delivered was half the amount it should've been (4' x 4' x 2' - see 'First delivery' photo). I immediately texted the driver but received no response. I called the business, and the owner asked me to send him pictures, which I did. Again, no response. When I called back the owner said he'd have to talk to the driver, maybe he could deliver a little more in the next day or two. I said I didn't want just a little more, I wanted the remainder of the 1/2 cord I'd paid for. There was no additional communication. The next morning I awoke to a knock at the door. The driver had returned and had already stacked some more firewood in my yard. When I pointed out that it was not the full balance of what I'd ordered and paid for, he again said it had been measured before it went in the truck and added "You want me to take it back?" I reiterated that I wanted the 1/2 cord I'd paid for; he said "This is 1/2 a cord." (See 'With second delivery' photo.) I didn't see any point in trying to argue this further, and I never received any explanation as to why I'd only received 1/4 cord on the first delivery, if it too had been measured before it went in the truck. The firewood was also poorly seasoned. My wife and I know how to build a fire, we've been doing this for years. I split plenty of kindling, and we use a lot of balled up newspaper, sometimes some cardboard, and dry pine needles as well. [We'd just been through a 1/2 cord from another vendor with no issues whatsoever.] With all of this firewood we struggled getting and keeping the fires going, and they consistently emitted a hissing moisture sound. It didn't help that it was mostly cut in 24" lengths; most places cut firewood logs to a more manageable 16". I ended up cutting several into smaller logs with a chainsaw. There were also more oddly-shaped pieces than usual [See 'Examples' photo]. I always expect there to be some, but there were more than there should've been. I gave these guys a try after calling around, hoping to get a lower price than my previous vendor. Their quote was lower but not for what we ultimately received and went through. It was a very disappointing experience and we will never use these guys again. read more

Our usual place (Alpine) had only hardwood so based on Yelp reviews we decided to try Holiday. They came quickly, their mixed wood is fine, and they stacked it nicely. They gave us a free pair of gloves and some kindling. My one caveat is that by volume, they're very expensive. Alpine's hardwood is actually cheaper because the half cord we ordered here was not really a half cord. That said, if you're not picky about the actual volume, the wood itself is okay and they do stack (which Alpine apparently no longer does). read more

Anyone looking for quality wood look elsewhere this place has very poor communication skills with its customers.
