Super cute spot! Very tiny! It's more of a pick up to go location. Only a few people fit inside. Drink was good. Had it with oat milk. Sweetener was okay. They use regular syrup. Plenty of parking outside although pretty full during the time I visited. Staff were nice. Short convo since they were super busy. I would return. They do make fresh in house boba!!
Super cute tea shop in a very corporate looking area. Limited seating indoors and outdoors but plenty of parking out front. It was slightly hard to find though since they didn't have a sign with the name out front (unless I just missed it). Service was friendly and helped us out since it was our first time, and our drinks came out pretty quick. I also thought the prices here were super reasonable compared to most tea shops that I've been to Assam salted cream w/ boba: 3/5 I liked this but the honey flavor was a bit too strong for me. Boba was nice and chewy though Thai tea salted cream: 4/5 Pretty good thai tea with a bit of saltiness from the cream Note: they also had a mancala board inside which I thought was super fun so we sat and played a couple games before heading out
Ordered the Salted Thai tea with boba. 20/10 probably the best boba I've ever had. I wanted to come back the next day to have the exact same drink again. I prefer coming to this location towards the end of the day when it's less crowded
Had a wonderful experience at hoji! We ordered the hojicha sesame latte and the assam black milk tea with boba. Our favorite was the hojicha sesame latte as it had a fragrant tea flavor and it didn't just taste like milk and cream. The boba texture was also one of the best I've had. Would highly recommend ordering boba with your drinks. It was chewy and tasted freshly made. The Assam milk tea on the other hand, wasn't exactly my favorite since it tasted mainly like milk and cream. I couldn't really taste the tea flavor in it but the boba texture was good. Service was excellent! The cashier was kind. We received our orders quickly. There were some games on the table to play while we waited. Not much seating inside the store. Plenty of parking out in front in a shared lot with other businesses. Would come back for their hojicha sesame latte!
A craving for boba, means a need for a boba adventure! We stumbled upon Hoji after browsing for good boba on our way home. Hoji shared the same parking lot with a coffee shop we're familiar with! On a Sunday afternoon, there was plenty of parking. When you walk up to the store, there isn't a sign on the outside. Before walking in, there's also a posted sign that says only 10 people at a time. We counted about 6 people, and proceeded to walk in. The decor is timeless and vintage. Super cool to look at and enjoy. We turned around and there was the cashier. It definitely is a small as can be. We took a bit of time looking at the menu and then deciding our drinks. We were a bit indecisive, but settled on their Rose Salted Cream and their Hojicha Black Sesame. The cashier was a bit interesting and didn't bother to help us or explain anything. He had us repeat our order a few times out of inattentiveness. It wasn't loud in there, but he definitely wasn't listening. Immediately after our order, he goes on his phone. Another worker had finished making a drink for a customer, and had to nudge the cashier to let him know the drink was ready. Even then, he wasn't on alert about it and made a face at the customer who stood up to grab the drink. Our drinks came out fairly quickly. We took our photos and left to sit in the car. It was quite small and stuffy in there. Our drinks were delightful! You can definitely taste the hojicha. The black sesame didn't overpower the drink, as for the rose salted cream, it was flowery enough. The boba itself was definitely handmade and perfectly chewy. I can understand why this store's drinks are a favorite. I deducted a star because of the service and attitude. We walked out the door saying goodbye, and even then, they didn't seem to care. The customer service here is lacking, but at least the drinks are decent. I might wait to see if any changes are made to their workers before coming back to try again.
Hoji has been my go to matcha and tea spot ever since I discovered it near UCR. It's surprisingly hard to find a great matcha spot in the IE, but Hoji is definitely a hidden gem. I've tried their matcha latte multiple times and it's honestly comparable to some of the famous matcha spots in OC and LA. The matcha is smooth with a medium bodied mouthfeel, a velvety texture, and just the right amount of sweetness. Their thai tea is also excellent but my favorite drink has to be the hojicha black sesame with boba. The hojicha has an amazing roasted aroma while the black sesame salted cream adds a rich, nutty, and savory depth that makes the drink incredibly addictive. The handmade boba is the real highlight. It's soft yet chewy at the same time, it's just the perfect texture. The staff is always friendly and welcoming, and I appreciate that they offer a stamp card for returning customers. The shop itself is on the smaller side, but the retro vibe, cute art wall, and full length mirror make it a fun place to hang out and snap a few pictures. This has become a staple in my drink rotation and I can't wait to come back and try more of their menu.
Hoji Tea Room is such a cute, tiny boba shop that really focuses more on the tea itself rather than toppings, which I personally love. The inside has a really cozy and aesthetic vibe, and one thing I thought was super cool is that you can actually sit and draw, then put your artwork up in the shop. It gives the place a really creative and community feel that makes it stand out from other tea spots. The worker was super nice and helpful, especially since I was being really indecisive about what to get. They took their time to explain things and helped me decide without making it feel rushed at all. I got the matcha latte, and I absolutely loved it. It was smooth, well balanced, and just really comforting without being too heavy or overly sweet. I also tried a few drinks off my friends' orders, like the Assam + Oat and the Barley + Sea Cream. The Assam + Oat had a really deep, bold tea flavor that paired nicely with the creamy oat milk, making it smooth but still strong. The Barley + Sea Cream was more unique, with a light roasted, nutty taste from the barley and a rich, slightly salty cream top that made it really interesting and different in a good way. It's a really cozy spot that highlights the tea experience in a simple but thoughtful way, and I'd definitely come back.
I've been coming here for a few times now and each time I am blown away. It's located in a warehouse- industrial looking center that does not have a sign above it. But look for all the people and then you know this is the one. It's super cute inside and homey. They decorate the walls with completed stamp cards that look like the old mini library checkout cards. The workers are always so chill and willing to help if you have questions. They do have a small menu with seasonal options from time to time. My favorites are definitely the Salted Cream Thai Tea and their Matchas! They're always perfectly sweetened and balanced and their boba is so soft and delicious. It has quickly become one of my top boba spots!
Genuinely the best matcha I've ever had and that's saying something because I've tried A LOT (follow my matcha page @morganxmatcha on insta hehe). I'm from Orange County so I'm so sad this spot is so far from me other wise I'd be here every day! They also do a stamp card where if you accumulate 10 stamps from different purchases you get 1 free drink which is nice of them!! Their matcha comes 75% sweet and with oat milk as the default and it's actually perfect! The flavor profile is so nutty, bright, slightly vegetal and almost a little fruity which pairs so well with the oaty flavor of the milk. The shop itself is so cute and cozy and I love all the doodles and old stamp cards on the walls. The staff was also very nice and get your drink out quick. If they expand to OC that would be a dream come true!!
I was passing through Redlands on a matcha mission and somehow stumbled into Hoji Tea Room, tucked away in what looks like an industrial strip mall that screams "this can't be it"... but oh, it was!! The place is tiny.... like, two chairs inside tiny w a few bonus seats outside if you're lucky!! Staff were nice, very proud of their craft and telling me all about the history of the shop. I ordered two matcha lattes (bc self-control is a myth): one w boba, one without. They say they use ceremonial-grade matcha, and I can easily attest that they are NOT lying!!! They're out here whisking matcha the legit way w a bamboo chasen and ceramic bowl like it's a full-on tea ceremony!! And WOW!!!!! Ceremonial-grade matcha just hits different.... smooth, rich, zero grass clippings energy. If you know, you know!!!!! The boba was solid too, softer and less aggressively chewy than typical boba, which I actually loved. Long story short: tiny shop, big matcha energy. I will absolutely be back the next time I'm anywhere near Redlands!!
Second time here and I was hoping for a better outcome. Not sure what kind of oat milk is used but I cannot taste anything but ice/water.
Hoji is a small tea shop that offers a variety of freshly brewed tea and matcha with boba. It's tucked away in a small unit in the plaza, which did make it a bit hard to find at first. Upon walking inside, the store was nicely decorated and at the time I went, it was Halloween, so they definitely make sure the shop fits the season! I opted for their Miyazaki Hojicha paired with a black sesame salted cream. I am a very big fan of Hojicha tea and the color looked fantastic! The tea itself was umami and had a very nice roasted flavor. The black sesame salted cream paired excellently with the tea, the nutty flavor bringing out more of the roasted tea flavor. Their drinks are also very affordable! I was quite surprised by how cheap their drinks were considered so many shops charge $8-9 for a drink of this quality. If you're looking for a nice, refreshing tea beverage, look no further and come here!
A quaint tea shop with a small but well-crafted selection of drinks to choose from. Hoji is somewhat of a hidden spot, being in a plaza without noticeable signs to pick it out. We ordered a matcha yabukita latte with boba and their special Kanazawa milk tea. I enjoyed both, and thought 50-75% sweetness was perfect. There was a lot of ice so I would definitely ask for less or none if I come by again. The shop itself is very small, mostly to just drop in and order a drink, and maybe check out their vibrant and cute art wall while you wait for your order. There are a few seats outside to enjoy your drinks, but this mostly seems like a pop in and go place.

Stumbled upon this place when I was looking for boba around the San Bernardino/Redlands area. I knew this place was going to be good from all the reviews! Also I had a feeling they were hojicha brewmasters since not a lot of shops specialize or even have hojicha on their menus. I got a large hojicha tea with oat milk and boba at regular sweetness. It was perfect, creamy, and refreshing. The tea flavor was strong but not overpowering or bitter. Oat milk was very subtle in oat flavor and not overshadowing the hojicha tea. Boba was soft and chewy, not like your traditional boba pearls because I think they hand make them there! Service was quick and friendly overall. We were passing through the area on our way to Palm Springs. My daughter was very excited to try this new tea shop that didn't exist while she lived in the area for 4 years. The reviews looked great however the drinks did not stand out at all. Parking: plentiful and easy and free in lot Menu: really difficult to decide since no prices are listed and no descriptions of items. Is it a latte with milk? Is there creamer added? Is it the foam only? If this just tea? They really need to add more descriptions and prices of drinks and upsize and boba. What we ordered: Hojicha + sea cream large 24oz with boba ($6): flavors were very weak and watered down. Could not taste strong hojicha flavors that we were expecting. The sea cream did not add much. Boba they don't put very much. Boba was soft and flavorless. We regretted adding the boba because it really ruined the drink to have something so bland. Hojicha + black sesame large 24oz with boba ($6.50): could not taste hojicha or the black sesame flavor. Boba they don't put very much. Boba was soft and flavorless. Nice interior that tries to replicate the aesthetics of the 90s and 00s. Most notable item is the CRT TV that is used as a music player; all the electronics seem to be random stuff they got for props. Got the hojicha with sweet cream and boba for $6. The boba was just done cooking and upon taking a closer at it, has a hand cut look to it. Highly recommend the boba. The drink itself has a strong tea taste that accompanies with the sweet cream. read more

Love everything about this place. Service was great, the whole place looks like I jumped into an old 2017 tumblr post but in the best way possible. The drinks are amazing, currently taking medicine and can't have dairy so the oat milk was refreshing and honestly just as good as regular milk ;) The drink was perfectly sweetened at 50% . Cute lil spot called Hoji. No sign outside but you can't miss the long line of people out the door. The prices are unmatched. $5 for a hojicha with sea cream and the best homemade boba?! I seriously loved their boba, it is unique and squishy with brown sugar hints. Kind customer service. Super helpful upfront and the interior was v trendy and full of personality. I got the hojicha with sea cream (50% sweet) and boba, which was my FAV. Only con was I didn't get a large smh. Please open a location in OC, it would THRIVE in boba central for sure :) read more

Every time I'm in the area, I gotta come get Hoji. Hands down one of the best places for a hojicha drink. Hojicha with sea cream and black sesame with hojicha are always on point. When I think about these drinks, I immediately start drooling. They're so so goood!! 10/10 It's such a hidden find but it's quite popular and there's always been a wait when I've gone - usually before they open! Like moves fast tho so it's not too long of a wait. There isn't much seating inside, just a bench while waiting for drinks. There are some chairs and small tables outside to sit and chill. Stopped in redding for a lunch break on a road trip and came across this spot on yelp. And as a matcha and tea lover I had to stop by. The location is kind of hidden in an industrial area but there is tons of parking which is great! The cafe itself is very small with only a couple stools inside, and a few tables outside so its not a place to hang out in the summer but the drinks are worth it. This matcha was by far one of the best matcha lattes i've ever had. It is hand whisked to order and comes with oat milk by default, and not too sweet which allows the matcha flavors to shine. The handmade boba was a nice texture but had irregular shapes which made it a little hard for it to go through the straw. The salted thai was good but too sweet for my personal liking. I wish we had tried the hojicha since it's one of their specialties! I 1000% would recommend stopping by if you're in the area. I wish this was closer to home for me! read more
This is an amazing boba place. They make everything in house including the boba. Yes, the boba! It's handmade boba! That blew my mind! When I heard handmade boba. Did someone say handmade? Now this is my #1 boba spot in the Redlands and Loma Linda area. My family loved this place. I think since we've found this place and it's only been a month, I think we spent over $1000 already. The services are great, the quality of the products much as boba and teas are hand-pick standards. If it's not hand-picked it seems like it is. what a little hidden gem in Redlands, it's in the same parking lot as Fireproof coffee and I was very surprised at the quality of this drink. I can't quite remember which matcha powder they used but they have various options to choose from and the employee explained them clearly to us when we were not sure on what to get. A great matcha flavor while not being overly sweet. read more
This place is tiny, has a menu on glass window by the main door and another menu by the counter. The two tea dudes were fast and efficient. The place was well illuminated and had a cozy warm feel compared to the outside weather. My gf got the Thai tea, with oat milk and she loved it. She rated it a 9.5/10. I got the Suzu...i don't member the next work buts it's a strawberry milk drink. Not too sweet but, the strawberry and soft warm delicious boba kick it up a notch. This was the perfect pick-me up to help me finish my work shift. I would rate this strawberry drink a 8.7/10. I am definitely going to go back and try their other menu items :) read more

This place is a serious hole in the wall with how it isn't in easy to find but tucked away in a little business plaza. I've been coming here for about a year and they have failed to disappoint me. I usually get the hojicha with sea cream and that blends really well with boba. They also hand make their boba fresh so you can tell the consistency and chewiness is guaranteed every visit. They also have other flavors like Thai Tea, Matcha, and a couple other tea that's allow you to customize based on the cream you get. Highly recommended checking this place out! read more

I wanted to try a different milktea store aside from my usual one, and this one just so happens to be located near my husband's workplace. So, we tried going here, and to be honest, we got confused where it was at first because the store is quite small. However, I must say, their teas are quite amazing! My brother-in-law and I both ordered Hojicha + Sea Cream and it was so delicious with their handmade boba! I will definitely come back to try the other teas they have on their menu read more
Wow, a very good hojicha / tea shop all the way in Redlands! I went here on the way back to LA from Palm Desert, as otherwise, their short opening hours make it quite challenging for visitors to check this place out. I got the hojicha with black sesame sea cream 16oz and added their handmade kokuto boba for 75 cents extra. Tax included, the drink was $5.50 which is a good price for the quality and comparable to other coffee shops. The hojicha is very fragrant and the black sesame did not overpower any elements of the drink. I opted half sweet which is the right level of sweetness to enjoy. The boba is on the softer side but still chewy, but it is not the usual tapioca texture that you would expect in a standard boba place. One of my regrets here is I did not get the large size (24oz) which supposedly is $1 upcharge. I got a stamp card just in case, even though it will be a very sporadic series of visits if I manage to make their opening hours going east in the I-10. read more

I love Hoji for their quality, intentionality and unique experience. Every drink I've had is a 10/10 (no exaggeration as I make many cafe reviews). It's a hidden gem in the IE, for it's dedication to making authentic teas. They are all perfectly sweetened and they have the perfect variety: Hojicha, Matcha, Assam and even Thai. My husband and I recently came back from Japan where hojicha is widely available. Of course, I've been on a hojicha fix every since and sadly I couldn't find it anywhere except when Hoji popped up on my yelp suggestions. Thank you yelp algorithms! Hoji is located in an industrial plaza and can be easily missed. The decor is old school vintage and the shop is very small. Its more of a grab your drink and go, but there are tables outside. The menu offers hojicha, Assam, Thai and various other teas with whipped flavored cream on top. Don't skip out on the cream because it adds a nice flavor to the tea. I ordered the black sesame hojicha and it was the best drink I've ever had here in the states! I came back and ordered the Thai tea with boba and that was also top notch. I heard a lot of great things about this local spot. Very small and unassuming hidden gem. Their menu is very simple and consists of hojicha (of course), matcha, and black teas. Their sea cream seems to be a fan favorite! My order this visit was the Hojicha with Sea Cream! I was hesitant since I'm not crazy about roasted green tea... but I was impressed. Full sweet was perfect for me. The roasted flavor wasn't too powerful and complimented the sea cream very well. Overall - a balanced drink! I'd order it again :) Try the handmade kokuta boba!!! Definitely a really unique kind of boba I've never had elsewhere. Very chewy and satisfying. Not your typical brown sugar pearls. read more

Been here twice, tried coming thrice, but it was closed. Hoji is a gem that I've found in Redlands. I live more towards LA bound, so I have had my experience with plenty of tea spots that are of good quality and overall a 5/5. Hoji is right up there with my palette for tea and boba. I've tried their hojicha with their handmade boba which is better fresh, so try going early when they open. They also have a matcha latte, but man I need to come back for the hojichaw because their tea quality is brewed so well and it's definitely going on my list as one of my go-to tea spots. I'm willing to travel for this tea 5/5 read more

Second time here. They ran out of matcha, but it's all good. Our family ordered the Hojicha with sea cream sweetened. Serve was friendly and fast with our order. Weather got warm again so this cool drink was refreshing. read more

Are there any fruitier teas for someone who isn't a fan of milk tea?
If you're looking for fruity flavors, Hoji probably isn't the spot. They specialize in straight teas served over ice--clean, roasty, tea-forward. Milk can be added, but it's optional
