Super cute spot! Very tiny! It's more of a pick up to go location. Only a few people fit inside. Drink was good. Had it with oat milk. Sweetener was okay. They use regular syrup. Plenty of parking outside although pretty full during the time I visited. Staff were nice. Short convo since they were super busy. I would return. They do make fresh in house boba!!
Super cute tea shop in a very corporate looking area. Limited seating indoors and outdoors but plenty of parking out front. It was slightly hard to find though since they didn't have a sign with the name out front (unless I just missed it). Service was friendly and helped us out since it was our first time, and our drinks came out pretty quick. I also thought the prices here were super reasonable compared to most tea shops that I've been to Assam salted cream w/ boba: 3/5 I liked this but the honey flavor was a bit too strong for me. Boba was nice and chewy though Thai tea salted cream: 4/5 Pretty good thai tea with a bit of saltiness from the cream Note: they also had a mancala board inside which I thought was super fun so we sat and played a couple games before heading out
Ordered the Salted Thai tea with boba. 20/10 probably the best boba I've ever had. I wanted to come back the next day to have the exact same drink again. I prefer coming to this location towards the end of the day when it's less crowded
Had a wonderful experience at hoji! We ordered the hojicha sesame latte and the assam black milk tea with boba. Our favorite was the hojicha sesame latte as it had a fragrant tea flavor and it didn't just taste like milk and cream. The boba texture was also one of the best I've had. Would highly recommend ordering boba with your drinks. It was chewy and tasted freshly made. The Assam milk tea on the other hand, wasn't exactly my favorite since it tasted mainly like milk and cream. I couldn't really taste the tea flavor in it but the boba texture was good. Service was excellent! The cashier was kind. We received our orders quickly. There were some games on the table to play while we waited. Not much seating inside the store. Plenty of parking out in front in a shared lot with other businesses. Would come back for their hojicha sesame latte!
A craving for boba, means a need for a boba adventure! We stumbled upon Hoji after browsing for good boba on our way home. Hoji shared the same parking lot with a coffee shop we're familiar with! On a Sunday afternoon, there was plenty of parking. When you walk up to the store, there isn't a sign on the outside. Before walking in, there's also a posted sign that says only 10 people at a time. We counted about 6 people, and proceeded to walk in. The decor is timeless and vintage. Super cool to look at and enjoy. We turned around and there was the cashier. It definitely is a small as can be. We took a bit of time looking at the menu and then deciding our drinks. We were a bit indecisive, but settled on their Rose Salted Cream and their Hojicha Black Sesame. The cashier was a bit interesting and didn't bother to help us or explain anything. He had us repeat our order a few times out of inattentiveness. It wasn't loud in there, but he definitely wasn't listening. Immediately after our order, he goes on his phone. Another worker had finished making a drink for a customer, and had to nudge the cashier to let him know the drink was ready. Even then, he wasn't on alert about it and made a face at the customer who stood up to grab the drink. Our drinks came out fairly quickly. We took our photos and left to sit in the car. It was quite small and stuffy in there. Our drinks were delightful! You can definitely taste the hojicha. The black sesame didn't overpower the drink, as for the rose salted cream, it was flowery enough. The boba itself was definitely handmade and perfectly chewy. I can understand why this store's drinks are a favorite. I deducted a star because of the service and attitude. We walked out the door saying goodbye, and even then, they didn't seem to care. The customer service here is lacking, but at least the drinks are decent. I might wait to see if any changes are made to their workers before coming back to try again.
Hoji has been my go to matcha and tea spot ever since I discovered it near UCR. It's surprisingly hard to find a great matcha spot in the IE, but Hoji is definitely a hidden gem. I've tried their matcha latte multiple times and it's honestly comparable to some of the famous matcha spots in OC and LA. The matcha is smooth with a medium bodied mouthfeel, a velvety texture, and just the right amount of sweetness. Their thai tea is also excellent but my favorite drink has to be the hojicha black sesame with boba. The hojicha has an amazing roasted aroma while the black sesame salted cream adds a rich, nutty, and savory depth that makes the drink incredibly addictive. The handmade boba is the real highlight. It's soft yet chewy at the same time, it's just the perfect texture. The staff is always friendly and welcoming, and I appreciate that they offer a stamp card for returning customers. The shop itself is on the smaller side, but the retro vibe, cute art wall, and full length mirror make it a fun place to hang out and snap a few pictures. This has become a staple in my drink rotation and I can't wait to come back and try more of their menu.
Hoji Tea Room is such a cute, tiny boba shop that really focuses more on the tea itself rather than toppings, which I personally love. The inside has a really cozy and aesthetic vibe, and one thing I thought was super cool is that you can actually sit and draw, then put your artwork up in the shop. It gives the place a really creative and community feel that makes it stand out from other tea spots. The worker was super nice and helpful, especially since I was being really indecisive about what to get. They took their time to explain things and helped me decide without making it feel rushed at all. I got the matcha latte, and I absolutely loved it. It was smooth, well balanced, and just really comforting without being too heavy or overly sweet. I also tried a few drinks off my friends' orders, like the Assam + Oat and the Barley + Sea Cream. The Assam + Oat had a really deep, bold tea flavor that paired nicely with the creamy oat milk, making it smooth but still strong. The Barley + Sea Cream was more unique, with a light roasted, nutty taste from the barley and a rich, slightly salty cream top that made it really interesting and different in a good way. It's a really cozy spot that highlights the tea experience in a simple but thoughtful way, and I'd definitely come back.
I've been coming here for a few times now and each time I am blown away. It's located in a warehouse- industrial looking center that does not have a sign above it. But look for all the people and then you know this is the one. It's super cute inside and homey. They decorate the walls with completed stamp cards that look like the old mini library checkout cards. The workers are always so chill and willing to help if you have questions. They do have a small menu with seasonal options from time to time. My favorites are definitely the Salted Cream Thai Tea and their Matchas! They're always perfectly sweetened and balanced and their boba is so soft and delicious. It has quickly become one of my top boba spots!
Genuinely the best matcha I've ever had and that's saying something because I've tried A LOT (follow my matcha page @morganxmatcha on insta hehe). I'm from Orange County so I'm so sad this spot is so far from me other wise I'd be here every day! They also do a stamp card where if you accumulate 10 stamps from different purchases you get 1 free drink which is nice of them!! Their matcha comes 75% sweet and with oat milk as the default and it's actually perfect! The flavor profile is so nutty, bright, slightly vegetal and almost a little fruity which pairs so well with the oaty flavor of the milk. The shop itself is so cute and cozy and I love all the doodles and old stamp cards on the walls. The staff was also very nice and get your drink out quick. If they expand to OC that would be a dream come true!!
I was passing through Redlands on a matcha mission and somehow stumbled into Hoji Tea Room, tucked away in what looks like an industrial strip mall that screams "this can't be it"... but oh, it was!! The place is tiny.... like, two chairs inside tiny w a few bonus seats outside if you're lucky!! Staff were nice, very proud of their craft and telling me all about the history of the shop. I ordered two matcha lattes (bc self-control is a myth): one w boba, one without. They say they use ceremonial-grade matcha, and I can easily attest that they are NOT lying!!! They're out here whisking matcha the legit way w a bamboo chasen and ceramic bowl like it's a full-on tea ceremony!! And WOW!!!!! Ceremonial-grade matcha just hits different.... smooth, rich, zero grass clippings energy. If you know, you know!!!!! The boba was solid too, softer and less aggressively chewy than typical boba, which I actually loved. Long story short: tiny shop, big matcha energy. I will absolutely be back the next time I'm anywhere near Redlands!!

Hoji is a small tea shop that offers a variety of freshly brewed tea and matcha with boba. It's tucked away in a small unit in the plaza, which did make it a bit hard to find at first. Upon walking inside, the store was nicely decorated and at the time I went, it was Halloween, so they definitely make sure the shop fits the season! I opted for their Miyazaki Hojicha paired with a black sesame salted cream. I am a very big fan of Hojicha tea and the color looked fantastic! The tea itself was umami and had a very nice roasted flavor. The black sesame salted cream paired excellently with the tea, the nutty flavor bringing out more of the roasted tea flavor. Their drinks are also very affordable! I was quite surprised by how cheap their drinks were considered so many shops charge $8-9 for a drink of this quality. If you're looking for a nice, refreshing tea beverage, look no further and come here!
A quaint tea shop with a small but well-crafted selection of drinks to choose from. Hoji is somewhat of a hidden spot, being in a plaza without noticeable signs to pick it out. We ordered a matcha yabukita latte with boba and their special Kanazawa milk tea. I enjoyed both, and thought 50-75% sweetness was perfect. There was a lot of ice so I would definitely ask for less or none if I come by again. The shop itself is very small, mostly to just drop in and order a drink, and maybe check out their vibrant and cute art wall while you wait for your order. There are a few seats outside to enjoy your drinks, but this mostly seems like a pop in and go place.
This is a very small cafe located in the Redlands! It's quite accessible with a large parking lot. I got a matcha latte as they had a pretty limited menu with just basic drinks. The size of the drink was quite small. The matcha was ok but the star of the show was the handmade boba which tasted like a fusion between classic boba and coffee jelly. Finally got to check this place out and it was wonderful! Best known for their Hojicha, I also tried their matcha and it was delicious. A creamy, vibrant green matcha balanced with the right amount of sweetness. The hojicha was nutty and didn't get overpowered by the savory sea salt cream. Staff was also quick and friendly! Very small cute place. You can tell there is a lot of thought put into the decor. Really focused on tea and matcha. No coffee. It was very pleasant and relaxed, friendly staff. Seating available inside and a little seating inside. We tried the Japanese custard as a dessert and it was very sweet and yummy. Think flan. The sweet cream sesame tea was delicious with their homemade boba. The nutty flavor was fantastic! I also loved the Thai tea! It was super creamy on top and refreshing! I'm gonna be honest. I stopped drinking matcha because I thought I didn't like it anymore, but really I just hadn't had a good matcha UNTIL I came here. The matcha is SO GOOD and not milky or watered down!!!! I like sweet, but not too sweet and this place was great. I will definitely be back! read more
Stopped by here after a family trip and after having a craving for matcha. At first, I thought I made a wrong turn somewhere because the area was pretty industrial. The matcha latte here is really good, not too sweet and pretty floral. The hojicha sea cream is also good. Overall, extremely glad I was able to stop by. I loveeee their Thai tea! It isn't too sweet and I love the sizing options of their drinks. I got their Thai tea with coffee jelly and salted cold foam on top, it's definitely my favorite drink here. My partner tried matcha with no sweetener and mentioned it had a decent taste of matcha with a slight bitterness to it. The ambience is very chill, the line was out the door but I felt their team breezed by it quickly! read more
I was really disappointed with the drinks after reading all the raving reviews. Maybe I caught them on a bad day. Salted Thai is sickeningly sweet and not adjustable. The matcha latte tasted like water and the boba had no flavor. Didn't end up finishing the drinks and threw them both away. The only pro is the prices are pretty reasonable. read more

Holy Hojicha! Tried both the salted cream and the black sesame salted cream Hojicha. Absolutely blown away by the flavor of the Hojicha. It is not bitter at all and it is one of the smoothest I've had. The workers were super nice! They also let you try the teas before you commit to them and they come in these cute mini red solo cups. Definitely a must try when you're in Redlands, Ca. We loved our drink and the service was amazing. The cashier was so patient with us and answered all our questions and we took his recommendation. Mind you I'm a fan of Matcha so for me this was a no brainer. It's a small cafe but has seats outside. Must add the boba especially if you like the boba. Their boba is made in house and it's has a nice whew to them without getting stuck to your teeth. Will stop here again if I am in the area~^*^ read more
came by on a wednesday morning and there was plenty of parking. there no exterior sign but its in the plaza on the left side right when you turn in. very cute interior decor, reminds me of the shops in LA. tea quality was super nice here & prices were so solid. $8.50 for our assam black tea with sea salted cream and a hojicha. the barista was also the cashier and she was really friendly and gave us great recommendations on the drinks too ~ 10/10 service. definitely will come back to try their matcha! a cute gem in redlands forsure read more
Welcome to the holy grail of tea/boba! Hoji exceeded my expectations. You don't see many boba spots with high reviews, so as soon as I saw Hoji's reviews I knew I had to try it out. I love that the menu is small and simple, and also non traditional. The moment you step in, you get hit the scent of tea brewing. I ordered a Salted Cream Thai and Miyazaki Hojicha both with boba. I had to say I regret not ordering a large, because WOW! Here at Hoji they know what they are doing. Customer service was top tier as well, quick and efficient! *Drinks? *Customer service? I had been waiting weeks (maybe months) to try this place - finally went (after it reopened from the car incident - iykyk). The drinks were good but the gentleman who helped me was less than friendly (maybe he was having a bad day but I take customer service very seriously and it can make or break an experience for me). As I said it was my first time and he seemed irritated to have to help and answer questions. Also, for my IBS/lactose girlies - they don't sub milk on the matcha - something to consider when ordering. This was my second time trying this place after a lackluster first experience because I heard it's one of the better boba places in the IE... but was left slightly disappointed after trying the hojicha with oat milk, miyazaki hojicha with black sesame, nilgiri, and their special of the week. My absolute favorite local tea house and matcha spot. The quality is always amazing and consistent. 10/10 matcha. Strong flavor, good ratio, a little nutty, never overly sweet. My bf and I've been here many times, and every visit was amazing :) The drinks are so flavorful and high-quality. The boba is extremely soft- in a good way! They have alternative milk substitutions Service is decent. There's only ever 2-3 employees, so sometimes there's a bit of a wait even with few customers, but I'd say the drinks are worth it! Some employees are friendlier and more helpful than others, but nobody's been downright rude so that's good Very small interior. No restrooms or seating aside from one bench to wait. There are limited tables and chairs outside, so if you plan to stay long, come when the weather is nice haha Decorations are aesthetic and retro! Light music playing in the background. A unique menu with unique inside decor. The Matcha latte with boba was pretty good. Just a small wait for my order, but understandable since the matcha is hand whisked. I can definitely see this place getting crowded during rush hour and having to wait a longer while. Ok someone went out and transplanted this tea shop from Los Angeles county and placed it here! This is one tasty gem and I'm jealous they have it here! Luckily I'm in between and the drive is not that bad. As soon as I stepped in I automatically smelled the ambrosia of tea and I just knew it was going to be legitimate. I ordered their Miyazaki Hojicha and the Black Sesame Salted Cream with one being hot and the other iced. Once I swirled my iced Black Sesame and took that first sip I was like Ohhh Yeah! Totally legit. I ordered my Hojicha hot and I usually do so I can experience that little nutty flavor and taste of it. OMG, so good! I'm already a fan and can't wait to come back and try more flavors. The shop is super small but so cute with a lot of eye pleasing knick knacks and stuff. The have a couple of tables outside and two seats inside. I was also digging the eclectic playlist while I was waiting. Parking is somewhat limited due to the number of local businesses. Stumbled upon this boba shop while on the way back from a Big Bear trip and the drinks here are sooo good!! I tried their Miyazaki Hojicha with Salted Cream at 75% sugar. Their tea is strong and flavorful, and when I mixed my drink, the cream added some milky-ness which I liked. I loved the roasted flavor from the hojicha and you could tell it was quality tea. We also tried Miyazaki Hojicha with Black Sesame Cream, which was delicious with the black sesame that paired well with the drink. We also tried the Nilgiri Organic tea which was refreshing and light. The inside decor has very retro Japanese-theme vibes. It's very small inside and they have a few tables outside if you want to hang out. I think it's more of a grab and go type of place. It was a little difficult to find since they don't have a sign on their building, but we were able to find the sign on the door. They offer handmade boba, but we didn't add it to our drinks, so I'll have to try those next time I'm in the area! read more

Such quick and communicative service! Their drinks are quite sweet. I originally ordered my matcha sweeter than expected and I asked for it to be adjusted which was accommodated accordingly. Located in a pretty nondescript and unassuming looking business plaza, Hoji is by itself, a shop that has a lot of character - in addition to having GREAT drinks - despite its pretty small size. We had the Black Sesame + Hojicha with homemade Japanese boba that was absolutely wonderful. It was sweet without being too sweet and the boba was really soft to chew. The Hojicha + Oat was also great too...it had all the deliciousness of a great milk tea but with much less guilt of drinking something potentially fattening. And to see a drink priced at a little more or less than $5 depending on what it was, almost brought a tear to my eye but I am going to guess lower costs of running a business in this area is a contributing factor. Hoji's use of traditional looking library cards not just as stamp cards but also to adorn its walls with hand drawn anime art was also really creative and a welcome sight for an otaku like yours truly to see. Pair that with the music that was playing and the overall vibe of this place is just so...cool. Hoji is definitely a place we will always go back to each time we visit Redlands! read more
Been wanting to try this place for a while and finally got to make my way down to Redlands. They have very unique Hojicha options that I've never had before. I got the Hojicha + sea cream with boba and I really liked it. The boba is really good and different from the typical tapioca pearls. The matcha latte with oat milk was not bad. Not super strong but just smooth. I also tried the hojicha + black sesame and I was surprised that I actually liked it too. You can tell that they brew their hojicha tea cause there's tea dust which is legit. This is located in a random business park but there's lots of parking. There are NO restrooms here. read more
Was a little skeptical of this place but I have to say, the quality of their matcha is next level. The drinks are very well crafted. This place is proof that you shouldn't judge a book by its cover. Admittedly, I would have never found this place. It's tucked away in a small industrial complex. Also, if it hadn't come highly recommended, I probably would have turned around. The place kind of gives me gamer dorm room vibes. 90s grunge in a way that comes off a bit affected. Also, it's super small. That said. I'm glad I didn't let my apparent prejudices deter me. The drinks are really delicious. I had an matcha latte with oatmilk. I also grabbed a iced assam with sea cream for my friend. She raved that it was incredible. I'll definitely back. I've been looking forward to this trip to Redland just to visit Hoji! There was plenty of parking when we arrived, though it's easy to miss since it's tucked away in a plaza filled with other businesses. But as soon as we walked in, we were blown away by the unique decor! The interior has a retro, pop-city Japan vibe, with quirky and eye-catching decorations everywhere. We ordered the Nilgiri Sea Cream with their handmade Kobuto boba and a Matcha Americano. Both drinks were incredible! My partner, who usually isn't a fan of boba, is now a convert thanks to Hoji. Guys, go here for the hojicha drinks not the matcha! I think I have now tried a good variety of the menu, and will say that its creamy hojicha drinks really amount to their name. The matcha drinks here don't really stand out and are still quite milky to me. BUT they're honestly better than most places around (and the color is so pretty). I am also one to believe that quality boba pearls can literally make or break a coveted spot. This place feels unique due to the globular shape of the boba and its perfectly gummy texture. I absolutely love how they are handmade kokutu boba. I will keep coming back to try more because it's so yummy here! To rank my personal favorites out of the popular drinks, it would be: Black Sesame + Hojicha Hojicha + Sea Cream Salted Thai Tea Matcha Lattes *definitely add boba to any drink, you won't regret!!! ;) read more

HOJIII is down the best tea spot in the IE!! the boba is always the perfectly cooked with a good bounce to it. I'm absolutely obsessed with the hojicha with sea cream--rich, smooth, and nutty. The interior is also super cozy and artsy even though it's a quick drink spot. read more

If you're looking for fruity flavors, Hoji probably isn't the spot. They specialize in straight teas served over ice--clean, roasty, tea-forward. Milk can be added, but it's optional
