We were greeted by a very friendly hostess, and our equally pleasant server quickly brought menus and asked what we would like to drink. When it was my turn, I happily ordered Coppin's Old Fashioned. I was the odd man out because everyone else ordered the Spring Manhattan. Judging by how quickly everyone's drinks disappeared, I'd say they were all very tasty. I was a little unsure about mine at first, so to make sure the quality and taste were consistent, I ordered a second, and it definitely was not a mistake. I ordered the B+G biscuits (which are made by hand according to server in the hotel) and gravy with an extra egg. Others at the table chose a variety of dishes, including the CVG, Cobb Salad, Bagel and Lox, and several other selections. Based on the clean plates all around the table, everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals. My wife ordered a sample of banana bread, and I was fortunate enough to snag a small bite, it was excellent. After we had all finished, everyone agreed that my niece had made an excellent choice for her graduation celebration brunch. As my wife and I made our way back to Louisville, we both commented that we would definitely return the next time we were in Covington.

I ended up being in the North Building and cracked up when I walked into my room and saw I was in one of the Lightwell Lofts (a few of us ended up in them by chance, guess they included them in our room block lol). While the room was super cool and beautiful, there was a lot to be desired. After taking a million photos of the gorgeous room, I quickly realized a major flaw - the bedroom is upstairs, the bathroom is downstairs, and the staircase between the two is a crazy narrow spiral staircase. As someone that gets up to pee in the middle of the night, having to traverse the spiral stairs was terrifying lol. One of my coworkers actually swapped with someone who had a "normal" room because he was worried about falling down the stairs. My downstairs tv wouldn't turn on. I fiddled with the remote a bit, tried rearranging the batteries, but couldn't turn it on. I used the ipad in the room to put in a maintenance request, but no one came. I figured I would just let the front desk know when I headed out to dinner that night. Hours later, the front desk calls me to see if anyone had come to fix the tv - they hadn't. The girl was very nice and apologetic, she said I sent the request in the middle of a shift change and someone had accidentally marked it as complete. So she said someone would be right up, and he did come up. Handed me a handwritten note and a $25 coupon for Coppin's which was totally unexpected and a very nice gesture. Turned out, he knew exactly what the problem was - he said the remote was broken and he was supposed to swap it out but forgot. Gave me a new remote and all was good. He also mentioned there is a second remote upstairs for that tv. After he left, I went to look for it - there was no second remote. We held our meetings in the Scheper Room, which was also beautiful. The room was absolutely freezing the first day and I'm someone that prefers it a touch colder and was uncomfortable. We had to get them to update the thermostat and then in the afternoon it was way too hot. We had food brought in from the hotel and it was all fine, nothing super memorable. There was soup at lunch but the sign didn't even say what it was - just "chef's choice." The Italian hoagies were way too big and needed to be cut in half, I couldn't even finish half of one. The salad with fruit/pecans/etc was my favorite though. They had the completely wrong password on the tables for the Wifi but thankfully we figured it out quickly that we just had to use the room password. The second day for breakfast, there was yogurt on the menu and even on the sign with all the food - but there was no yogurt. Some of my coworkers were specifically asking for yogurt so we had to request it directly because it was included and paid for. Box lunches to take to go on the second day which were fine, I had the chicken caesar salad wrap. Housekeeping didn't come to service my room until 5pm when I was in there getting ready for dinner, so I was not able to get the room serviced. Just asked them for some more coffee. My conditioner in the shower was empty but I didn't bother reporting it after the tv issue and I had my own conditioner with me, so used that. The lotion at the sink was so thick that I could not get it out of the bottle at all, I had to use q-tips to get it out (it was nice quality, just kinda useless if you can't get it out of the bottle lol). Great local offerings on the mini bar and in the fridge. My coworkers and I got a kick out of the "intimacy kits" because we were on a business trip haha. The Magic 8 ball was fun, I loved the conversation cards even though I just read a few of them to myself haha. Even with the bedroom upstairs, it was nice to have the big double closet in the bathroom hallway so I really was just in the loft to sleep and kept all my stuff downstairs. The location is great, lots of fun stuff right nearby. The courtyard is lovely. I would say this is a solid 3.5 stars but since we can't give half stars, I'll give it a 4 because the staff was overall very nice and quickly fixed any issues, just a little annoying that we had any issues at all.

It's really sad that this hotel has gone so downhill. Cons: I would say safety is my first concern here. The door to the hotel in the basement is not locked. Anyone could get in whether they had a key or not. You can also use the elevator to the restaurant, but get off on any floor. I read there was a uniformed security guard walking around, but we never saw one. Check in.. the man who checked us in.. we felt like we had interrupted him. He was looking at some paperwork and called us over when he noticed us. His female coworker seemed very nice as she was helping someone else. He barely talked to us. I had asked for a high room online, but I understand they may not see those messages. I was a little afraid to ask if we had a higher room. We were on floor 9.. which is ok, but we were hoping for higher. He just didn't have that hospitality attitude at all. I guess we should have expected less of him. The large linked chain necklace he was wearing was a clue. There's been a mix of super nice and grumpy employees. I get it. We hate work too. But it doesn't mean you can't smile and just say hello. 3 garbage bags on the roof of the building below us, that covers the pool/meeting room areas. Someone forgot them I guess. The toilet is on its last legs. The flush pattern you must use to get your deposit to go down is a little irritating, and the noise it makes when it does finally flush sounds like it's screaming out in pain.. Speaking of the toilet, there's no where to get coffee. Yes, there are single use coffee makers in the room, but we are here for 4 days. We were given 4 coffee pods, 1 sugar and 3 creamers. They only do maid services if you request it, which is fine, we usually put the do not disturb sign up, but, why not leave enough for more than 1 day for 1 person? Also, why give lids when they don't fit the cups The floors are not clean. They look clean, but they are not in fact clean. We are used to walking around in our socks at home and forget we shouldn't do that at a hotel. Our mistake. Sheets are very thin and slide off the corners because of plastic cover They refurbished the room, but there is still older elements, especially in the bathroom. There is a place on the wall where the A/C thermostat used to be, they didn't fill in the holes or paint. Hallways are dark, but not bad. There are no cameras in the hallway, at least on floor 9. The pool roof apparently does not retract anymore so they put a false ceiling over the pool. Not a big deal. You used to be able to get to the pool through the basement so you didn't have to walk through the lobby, but that is no longer there. The pool water itself was not clear so we decided not to get in. Pros THE VIEWS We met a young man who looked to maybe be head of housekeeping on the elevator, and he was so friendly! We love the underground parking option, but it's a little dark down there. Still better than parking outside.

So my Bookings app brought up this place, which is close to the ballpark. So I booked it for 6/3. When I got there I was told there would also be a parking fee. It is what it is. I was given a room up high, maybe floor 13. Lucky me! I will note the view is the best part of this hotel. My view was of I75, meh, but it's still nice to look from above at cars and trees. I would have loved a view of the Cincinnati skyline, though. Well the vibe of the place is dark and there are warning signs about car break ins so I brought everything inside. The elevator was interesting but pretty small and the ride was shaky. When I got to the room it looked ok but definitely not that bright and welcoming. I thought a perk would be to go out on the balcony and check out the view. Unfortunately, the door was locked and the door wouldn't budge. I was able to see out the windows, but they could use a good scrubbing on the outside. I reminded myself that I wasn't there for the room I was there for ribs and baseball so didn't spend much time in that room. I was able to make it to ballpark and park then walk to the rib house and back to ballpark by the 2nd inning. I returned back to the hotel after stopping at the Plum Street Cafe which is near the 4th and Plum where I once lived. Driving back, however, my app sent me around downtown Covington until I realized I needed to turn in an unmarked alley by the gas station to enter the lot. To quote Run DMC It's tricky, tricky, tricky! I headed back to the room and then a darkish walk to the ice machine. I really think this place could use some updates or cut the price point from $152 to $75. The halls also echo in the night. On my billing statement that just came from Amex it indicated that I stayed there on 6/2 instead of 6/3. I didn't take many pictures since there are plenty online already. I did get an exterior shot at 10:34 the next day as I prepared to make the drive to Pigeon Forge, TN.

I slept in a room with two queens and I had a roommate. My bed felt like maybe one side of the mattress had worn down and I felt like I might roll off. Didn't sleep well. Reservation issues: The art retreat was a Friday-Sunday (check out Monday). When making a reservation by phone I was told by one person I could get our rate on Thursday, but another said I could not. So nearly $400 for Thursday? I cancelled my entire original reservation and found a friend who shared her room with me. SHE got a Thursday rate even better than the group rate assigned to us. By the way, one reservation person told me that it was Jennifer Chamberlin's fault (Jennifer owns the art membership) which was infuriating. One person told us parking was free and another said it was not free. Please train reservation staff for consistent and correct information. We also used to get a free bottle of water just for asking. Positives/Mixed: Happy Hour (though I wish there were more cocktail choices). It's great to get two free drinks though. Our meals were great (except don't serve a dessert like carrot or cheesecake unless there is enough for everyone; the carrot cake slices were HUGE..would have been enough if sliced smaller..it was delicious and rich so slices were way too big). The Lobster Bisque soup also was not even close to hot..more like room temperature. Food was otherwise good! That said, the food/meal staff (including the omelet makers) were SUPER friendly and helpful/polite. Great breakfast..better than most hotels! Also the bartenders! We really appreciate this staff. Some have been around for all or most of our art retreats and seem to love having us. It has greatly improved since we started using it as our venue. I'd give 3.5 and close to 4 stars, but that is because the retreat itself and being with our friends in a nice spacious area was wonderful. Really..for what it costs, some more improvements of items mentioned would be beneficial to influence my decision in coming again.

The shower was normal and had the refillable bottles of shampoo, conditioner, and body wash in there. The next morning, we had breakfast in the lobby. There were hard boiled eggs, cereal, toast, bagels, western omelettes, scrambled eggs, sausage, waffles, with juices and coffee. We had plenty to eat. We checked out and explored Cincinnati. Overall it was a great stay, we look forward to coming back!

They were SUPER attentive to our needs and when we needed to go to the emergency room at midnight, the man at the front desk (David) ran a few blocks to get our vehicle from the parking garage so that we could hurry and get her taken care of. When we came back at around 4am he made sure that we had everything we needed in our room to enjoy the rest of our stay. This was a great experience and we will definitely be back again (hopefully for a full night of rest next time because the beds are extremely comfy)!

On the plus sign, valet, front desk, and all personnel are customer focused. Building was renovated in the past 10 years, and all details are lovely. Extremely clean. Rooms are large and very luxe. Room service was perfect in every way. So why not 5 stars? We love the rooftop bar and that played a huge roll in getting us here. But all three nights we were here it was closed for private events. I hope the events are making them a lot of money, because it can cut into their basic customer base. I will be checking to see if the rooftop is open before booking here in the future. One other small complaint...our room was never serviced until late afternoon when we needed to get ready for dinner. Turn down service (including chocolates) on first day only. That made me sad.
