I rarely leave reviews but 21c in Cincinnati deserved one. At check in, they upgraded my room to a suite for free once they heard it was me and my wife's anniversary. The front desk staff was very friendly as well as cleaning crew and parking attendants. The suite was clean and very nice. Another Cinci trip, another cozy stay at the 21c. The breakfast hash from their restaurant alone is worth a stay! This time I noticed all the birds in the building lol. My room had chicken and rooster art, along with a yellow penguin statue, that I noticed had replicas all throughout the hotel. The phone in my room didn't work, but that wasn't a real inconvenience. I was excited to return for another stay while in town on a work trip. My previous experience was awesome, so it was a no-brainer to book here again. Ironically, the same front desk attendants were working, which was a fun surprise. Unfortunately, this time my room had trouble cooling, likely due to the hot weather and all the sun coming in. It was hard to keep the thermostat at a comfortable temperature, event at night. So, I didn't sleep as well as I'd hoped. Despite that, I think I'll still come back the next time I'm in the area. I recently had a solid one night stay at 21c - this was my second or third visit to this particular location. Located in the heart of downtown Cincy, the location is hard to beat. The nitty gritty: -art museum in the lower level of the hotel with clever artistic touches throughout the entire space -Metropole restaurant on the lower level is great -located a stone's throw from several great restaurants -great bath and body products in the rooms My only complaint on the room this round was that there was a surprising amount of hair left behind on the sink and in the shower which was a bit of a bummer... Used to be #1 in customer service in this area. That was then...this is now. New owners, and it just isn't the same experience. But that isn't the worst part. I valeted my car when we arrived. Expensive but so worth it...or so I thought. The next afternoon we got a call that my car was damaged. They pulled it around and showed me a video of three women obviously over served at a nearby club. When the club closed, there is a video of them hitting my car, then having a real laugh fest. I was told by the hotel manager the garage owner would be able to pull their license plate from their reader on Monday, so I should go ahead and file a police report. Cincinnati Police have more on their plate than a random hit and run in a garage. The hotel manager (Brad Kramer) also said I would be hearing from their Insurance Adjustor within the week. (It's been 2 weeks now and I've already had my car repaired) I have repeatedly tried to contact Mr. Kramer and "crickets." What a surprise. Traveled at the govt rate for work, and ended up with a cheap room. The carpets are stained, the room felt dirty, the pillowcases didn't fit the pillows so woke up with a stained pillow on my face. The pillows felt like a sack of lumpy rocks. The temperature in the room was never consistent so the AC and heat would kick on and off every few minutes. The toilet ran non-stop. Refrigerator was sitting out in the middle of the room instead of tucked away in a cabinet. Shampoo/conditioner pumps didn't work. Valet pricing $45/night was absurd considering that's "major city" pricing and Cincinnati is not a major city. The Valets were very nice, front desk staff was nice. Another person was complaining about their room being dirty and the front desk woman (long brown hair w bangs and glasses) didn't offer an apology or solution, just an excuse that the hotel will be renovated soon. read more

Our server was the only good part of this experience. Everything else was a mess. Despite a reservation for a 12-person birthday brunch, we spent the first several minutes hunting down a hostess because no one was at the coat check. Food took almost an hour, the restaurant was basically empty, and no one bothered to tell us they were about to shut down for their mid-day break. My meal never came at all because they ran out of fries and the order apparently wasn't constructed when ordered. On top of that, they only allow the check to be split five ways for a 12-person party, and we weren't told until the end. Between the lack of communication, slow kitchen, and closing bar, the whole thing felt unorganized and unprofessional. The hotel is gorgeous, but brunch was a complete letdown. Obviously, the attraction with the hotel is the art that's displayed throughout. They also do a "nightcap at the museum" which is just a free tasting sample of whiskey (would be cool if they just offered a free drink with your hotel booking). We had some issues with the hotel reception, there was a few issues that we had throughout our short stay and the staff wasn't necessarily apologetic. The hotel rooms are sub-par, nothing really special although our room was clean, the gym is in the basement and is pretty basic. The location is good to walk to other places though. I would say stay at another hotel and just stop by to walk though the art displays as it's open to the public and free. It's also not much maybe about 4-5 rooms of art if that so won't take long to enjoy. read more

Stayed here for a night and the service was on point. The valet, the front desk and any other staff I met along the way were super approachable and helpful. I really appreciated free and easy access to some beautiful art and loved that the art continued throughout the hotel's staircase, halls, lobbies, and even bathrooms. The room itself was well maintained and nice. I liked how easy it was to use the window blinds and adjust light levels-always a perk in a hotel. And the A/C heat worked great! My only critique-the walls and floors could use a little refresh/upgrade. I do recommend staying here, for sure. It's a good location and the restaurant/bar attached, Metropole, is lovely. read more

I had high expectations for 21C given its reputation, price point, and modern branding--but my stay was a major letdown. I was here for my sister's wedding, which took place next-door . Her bridal suite looked really nice! But my personal room... The room wasn't fully clean--there was hair in the sink and on the floor, and some trash left behind. The space felt dusty and musty, and the hallways looked outdated and worn. Definitely not what I expected from a boutique hotel that prides itself on being contemporary. The art in the lobby? Stunning. That was the one highlight. But even brunch at Metropole was a bust--I stood there for 10 minutes without anyone greeting or seating me, so I ended up walking across the street to Brew for better service. To top it off, the rooftop bar--which could've made up for some of the disappointment--was closed to the public for a private event. Overall, extremely disappointed. Not worth the hype or the price, and I won't be returning. read more

This is a great location while staying downtown. You are able to walk to bars/ restaurants as well as the riverfront and stadium. I was captivated by the artwork at the museum and in the rooms. The breakfast at the restaurant is good however dinner could make improvements in order to compete with the neighboring options. The hotel bed was comfortable and the sheets were pleasantly soft. The shower water pressure by far was the best thing about my stay. The heavy drops of water felt like a cleansing weighted blanket. The ultimate downside was the lack of tlc of a larger hotel chain. The cleaning needs improvement and the shower grouts could use attention. Beautiful stay just needs more attention to detail for maintenance. read more

I've stayed here before (and reviewed it then too). There are less expensive hotels, but none as cool as this one when it comes to art. When I stayed here in 2022, there was a large Bisa Butler exhibit, with several supporting pieces from artists of color. This time was no different--several pieces from Black, African, and Indigenous artists. All bright, creative, stimulating. This time I was slated for a king, but got upgraded to a corner suite for 45 dollars a night (great deal when you take into account the original price). The suite has a large sitting area, a table with four chairs, a bar/credenza, a separate bedroom with plenty of drawer and closet space, and bathroom. The bathroom has a separate toilet space, then a wet room with a shower and soaking tub. The soaking tub is not the most amazing one I've ever had (Oklahoma City had the best I've ever experienced in a 21C), and I wish the lights in there were softer, but I'll take any tub I can on any day! The bed is comfy, in general well equipped. My only real gripe was that the bathroom, tub, robes, and towels were full of hair that didn't belong to me, and if I'm paying almost 1500 dollars for two nights, I'm not sure I can let that pass. I know housekeeping is often overwhelmed and understaffed, but really? Front desk was attentive. Restaurant (reviewed separately) is great. Love the art. Love being able to wander around with a cocktail and ponder what it all means. Valet is also responsive and helpful. And the hotel is walking distance from a lot of great spots. Glad I stayed here, can't beat the food, drinks, and art. Hair be damned. read more

We stayed here for a week for my big birthday. We were both born and raised in Cincinnati, but spent the last seven years in California. Moving back, we noticed a lot had changed while we were gone. I wanted to take the opportunity to stay downtown and get reacquainted with our city. Staff was great during the valet to check in. The room was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was extraordinary, with Rookwood tiles of noses, eyes and other body parts! LOL It was pretty cool. The hotel must have a water softener, which made showering an absolute delight! We visited the bar each night; fyi we don't drink alcohol. They had great NA options, including a wine I fell in love with. The staff in the bar were fantastic. They even made an extra effort to provide me with birthday macarons, which was super sweet and very much appreciated. Metropole is a fantastic restaurant, which I've reviewed separately. The art in the hotel is fantastic. They were doing some updating in some of the areas, so our art exploration was a bit limited, but still wonderfully interesting. Of note, the floor lighting on the floor outside the restrooms is fun!!! If you are there for the hotel or for dinner, you gotta check it out! read more

I've heard such good things about this hotel, so when it came time for me to book a work trip to Cincy, I was pleased to see 21C as an option. I arrived out front and a valet was there to direct me to check in and take my car off my hands ($40 a night). Check in was fairly easy but I was bummed that the art displays in the lobby were under construction and all blocked off.. That was one of the selling points for me. All good, there were other artistic elements throughout the hotel. My room was on one of the top floors and had a nice view of Downtown Cincinnati. The bathroom was large, there was a fridge in my room (don't find that too often anymore), and I liked that I could Chromecast my Netflix on the television. My bed was large, the giant white robes were comfy, and everything was really clean. I stayed for two nights and slept pretty well. The main reason why I docked a star was because check out and the days following check out were not the best. They charged me $177 twice for having a late check out... which was inaccurate as I checked out around 9am on the day I was heading home. I found myself on the phone with them 3-4 times before they could get everything worked out and I finally got my refunds. I also wasn't provided with a receipt when I left. I assumed they emailed it to me but when I got home, nope, nothing. You'd think it would be common practice to email a final invoice for my stay. I had to discover the two $177 charges myself after reviewing my credit card statements. Look, I understand that people book rooms here using all different kinds of websites but this wasn't acceptable and could have been prevented with a little attention to detail. While my stay was pleasant until it was over, I'm not totally sold on staying again. There's plenty of other hotels in the area. read more

This place is kind of amazing. It's not a hotel it's an actual museum with a hotel built around it. There is art everywhere you look even on the floors in places. As I was checking out I realized that even the front desk was a piece of art. All of the art is owned by the owner of the hotel, and all of the artists are living and frequently come and give seminars there. Even the showers have been converted to pieces of art, with ceramic body parts cleverly sticking out of the walls. The front desk staff and management is absolutely fantastic. The bed is very comfortable and they have blackout shades that pull down behind the curtains so the room is completely black. Highly recommend. I actually had a brief interaction with the Director of Operations, David Kennedy, and he is a true hospitalitarian. You can tell he cares deeply about his property and guest satisfaction. 10 out of 10. read more

Meh. $700.00 for a two day stay. I'd heard very good things and the 21c did not live up to the hype. The good: cool art, I guess and a hip vibe help but there isn't much more to say. The waitress at the hotel restaurant was hard working. Food was ok. The shower was excellent, with some of the strongest water pressure I'd ever experienced outside of a pressure washer. We were in a suite and the shower was massive. Bathroom was definitely the highlight of the room. The bad: crumbs all over our nightstand. Gross. Bed sheets had a weird texture to them that made them feel perpetually "wet" and the "blanket" was basically a sheet. We had to call down to housekeeping for another blanket-which took about an hour. The front desk staff and cleaning staff dress however they want-there is no uniformity. The guy who dropped off our blanket was wearing a hoodie and baggy jeans and I wasn't sure why a dude would be knocking on our door at 10 at night. Turns out he was hotel staff. The gentleman who cleaned our room looked like a straight up homeless guy, as he was also dressed in civilian attire. He was nice, however. But let me say again, he looked like a straight up homeless man. Several of the USB ports in the room didn't work. Location was a bit iffy. It's the type of location where the hotel staff has to shoo the homeless away from the front doors on the regular. Valet staff was fine. Cars took about 15 minutes to grab. So, no. We won't be dropping another 700.00 for a two day stay at the old 21c. read more

Love the entire chain of 21c hotels - we've stayed in Louisville, Lexington and Chicago, and while we've visited the bar in Cincinnati before, this was our first overnight stay! First off, 21c never disappoints with interesting art installations! They were in the process of changing exhibits while we were there, but for the first time I encountered one of the wandering penguins and that more than made up for that! (We may or may not have borrowed the penguin overnight.... Penguin-napping is so much fun!). The staff was very friendly and helpful, and kept us well-stocked with ice! The room was perfect (we had a standard king room) and the bathroom was immaculate. I have to say - I had way too much fun with the funky tiles in the shower! Can't wait to come back - this is such an amazing location and couldn't be more convenient! Pro tip - valet was reasonably priced and worth the cost. It's $20+ to park overnight anywhere downtown, and the convenience of having our car right there great! The valets at this location also have absolutely phenomenal hair btw! read more

This is a generous review given that my experience at 21c was awful. That being said, Natalie at the front desk was lovely and tried her absolute best to better my experience. So, thank you, Natalie! You rock. The check in process was fine. Quick and easy, nothing special but that works for me! When going up to my room, I found the hallways to be a little run down and dated looking which I did not expect for a 4 star, arts hotel downtown. This is also something I can get past because the room is where I am sleeping! The room however, was gross. The carpet was clearly dirty or just not vacuumed enough in between stays. The bathroom was even worse. I will attach the photo of the drain in the shower. EW! I saw the person before me post about the bloody robe and now this?! Maybe the hotel is going downhill. I emailed the client services team to let them know about this and requested a response via email. Got nothing in return. I then called the front desk to let them know. The man at the front made it seem like he had already seen my message and chose to ignore it. I said I didn't want to move rooms because I had already ironed and unpacked a bit. Valet parking is really not a thing, it's just a bunch of kids driving your car to a far away garage and any chance of scratches etc is on you not them. 2. It's overly price for what it is. $900 total for two nights and it was dirty sheets ( our cover sheet had what looked like blood snot? Maybe something else but still gross) 3. The entire hotel / room / gym smelled like sewer water. We're still laughing about this sadly lol 4. The gym is small and cute but you can't really workout when you're huffing and puffing in sewage stench We stay at a lot of "luxury" hotels since that's the one thing we know we want to splurge on and this was absolutely not it. I stayed at the 21C hotel in Cincinnati for a conference and overall the hotel was pretty great. I love the museum thene and artwork in the lobby and the front desk staff was pretty great as well and the location was perfect. However, my room smelled like smokes and had a damp feeling in the room and overall, I just did not like the space of the room, but the front desk and the location definitely made up for that and I would definitely stay there again and just think that there should be some minor upgrades to some of the rooms read more

Update: The management had me email with them back and forth for a week and a half, until they finally refunded me a bar bill WHICH WAS STOLEN from me in the first place by their bartender. The only reason they refunded my STOLEN money, was because I brought a lawyer into it. That's all you need to know about this place. read more

Been here a few times now and have had a mixed set of experiences. Feel like it's went a little downhill since the pandemic. Our last stay had a few issues but we looked over them (missing robe, not all towels, broken curtain rod, power cords tangled, some random things in the floor that were garbage like a champagne bottle top and rose petals, and dead light bulbs) but it was just not what I'm sure would be expected... We looked forward to trying the 21c but were disappointed. Luxury room upgrade pointless, window looked at a wall not Walnut St as described. No double sink as described. Sink and shower had continuous leak. Mini fridge door wouldn't stay shut. The shower at the base of the glass lots of soap scum that had not been cleaned. The table sitting area had splashes of mystery liquid on it. I've been to attend events and the galleries so I was very disappointed with the room. read more

This is a fun hotel. I recently stayed at the 21c Museum Hotel in Chicago, so I knew what to expect with the art gallery, even though unfortunately we didn't have time to check it out this trip. I won a free 2-night stay here last year, through Yelp Cincinnati - they hosted a virtual drag queen bingo that I attended, and I was one of the first winners, so I chose this stay! Which was a great prize, because normally it's about $150-200+ per night here. I can't help but compare our room here to the one in Chicago, so here goes: Pros: -Very nicely appointed room. Smaller than the one in Chicago, as it's mostly just a bathroom and a bed (Chicago had a small little sitting area, even though it was also a standard King room). -Bathroom was huge as compared to Chicago. Shower only, no bathtub. Shower had some interesting quirks - this is going to sound weird but they put some body part pictures in it (see my pics). Definitely a talking point! I posted some pics on Instagram and friends were curious about that. -King bed was nice and comfortable. -Nespresso machine with four pods, as well as tea selections. -Great location in the middle of downtown. We walked to dinner our first night and it was only about a 15-minute walk. -Luxurious bathroom toiletries, same brand as Chicago's -Very friendly hotel staff, especially the front desk workers. Cons: -We did get housekeeping on Sunday but they didn't replace the Nespresso pods (used ones) or the shampoo/conditioner/body wash. -They wanted $39 a night for valet - shoutout to the Yelper one here that recommended 600 Vine instead, it cost us about $28 per night that way so we saved some money. 600 Vine does a weekend special where it's $7 for every 8 hours, which is a pretty good deal, esp. if you aren't parking there for more than 8 hours (but we parked overnight both nights). It's only about a 1-block walk from the hotel, too. -This is a pro and a con: there was a minifridge that normally would be stocked with items, but it was empty, so we used it for our own beverages (this is a pro). Con: when we went to check out, there was a $20 charge for liquor on my bill, and when I asked if the fridges are normally stocked, the front desk person said no ... so obviously it wasn't a legit charge. They did remove it for me right away, but this is why I always ask to see the hotel folio and do a proper checkout vs. just leaving the keys in the room. Overall this was a very nice hotel, though, and I would stay here again if visiting Cincinnati. read more

This was our first stay here... First, valet was great. Very welcoming and we were confident they would take care of our vehicle which they did. Next was the front desk, they were great. Very welcoming as well. Now for our room. Very clean, but this is we're the the decrease in stars come in. The thermostat was wayyyyyyyyy off. It was warm when we walked in, so we set it to 65 before we left for a show and dinner. (I know, 65 is kinda chilly). Well, about 6 hours later we come back, the thermostat says 65, but it's still kinda warm. The hall way was actually cooler. I had to strip down because it was so warm in there. Now as for the bed, it wasn't very comfy. I was expecting something like when we stay at Lytle Park. Nope, it was kinda uncomfortable and the protective sheet underneath made it even hotter than it already was in the room. It was was hard to sleep. Overall, I don't think we'll be back since the room was subpar. read more

The beds are so comfortable. The decor is so cute! I want the dog pillow that was in my room. So adorable. The staff was five star. My mom wanted to watch the warriors win and we couldn't find the right channel. They sent a tech up to help her get the game on. The room service was lovely. The adjoining restaurant Metrople was outstanding. Highly recommend staying here as it doubles as an actual museum. This is our third stay here. They were so accommodating and kind. They seemed genuinely interested in making our experience outstanding, and they succeeded. We will definitely be back next year! read more

Starting to look a bit tired/ worn out which surprised me. Hadn't been in about 5 years, and it was a bit worse for the wear. But at least they allow dogs and had Bisa Butler and Nick Cave in the front lobby. Other big downer: their restaurant is not doing breakfast anymore (as of August 2022). No instructions in room for the fancy coffeemaker thing, which was a downer. Love the concept and style, but needs a deep clean and spruce up. If you face the street, it's pretty noisy. read more
