I've had several small repairs done this year and they have done a good job explaining options and then fixing the bike. Good service.

They are the best. They are the only place around I know that you can consign your bike for sale. Very up to date on equipment.

Ask the Community - Hodson's Bay

Does the West Lafayette Indiana store carry self balancing Segways? If so, are any available for rental? Thanks.

Hodson’s Bay does not carry Segways at this time. We have been discussing this option as a future service and product. Thanks for asking.

I went in to get my back brakes replaced and my back tire inner tube replaced (I brought the inner…read moretube). I was told this service would take a couple days, which I expected, and left my bike with them. I then received a message 2 days later saying they had replaced the inner tube and just needed to get confirmation to go ahead with some brake repairs, which I approved for the estimated price of 76.02. I then heard nothing from them for 3 weeks. As it is midterm season and I am in a challenging major, I didn't have time to be thinking about my bike, so I assumed parts were on back order or something. Eventually I caved and messaged possible times I could pick up the bike. I was then messaged after both of the times I gave, such that I couldn't pick up my bike for another week. When finally messaged back, I discovered they uncharged me to 116.02 for a service I did not approve. When I eventually made it into the shop, I inquired about the time and the price. The employee I talked to gave me attitude saying, "It sounds like you should open your own bike shop." After repeatedly telling the employee I was talking to I was not mad and simply curious as to what happened, he told me someone put the bike on a rack upstairs and forgot about it for nearly a month. In the end, they took 20$ off the total (still 20$ more than what I was sent in an itemized list). Overall extremely unprofessional experience, I will be fixing my bike on my own from now on.

Additionally, making fun of the gift (bike computer) given to me from my kids shows their real character and should not be conveyed by a business owner to anyone. Taking 2 weeks to mount tire to a new wheel was my frustration and disappointment with Virtuous. Business owner did not address this in his reply. I did not accuse staff of stealing, I asked where bike was stored during the 2 weeks and if everyone visiting business has access. When visiting the store and seeing the disorganization and randomness of which the bikes were stored about, it seemed likely that something could go missing, that's why I asked. Tire on new wheel has not been able to keep air in it since bringing home. Worst service experience I have ever had, would give zero stars if could. Left bike at shop as it needed a new wheel, gave directions on size of wheel and tire to order to the service tech. Received notice that items were ordered and it arrived in a few days, however it took 2 weeks to get it installed. When picking up noticed tire and valve was incorrect size. Positive note, they were able to switch out and get me out the door in 15min and I appreciated that, but it left me thinking.... why did it take 2 weeks to get my wheel and tire installed when it took 15min. when they had it incorrect. Entire operation felt disorganized, and that technicians were working to accommodate everyone who stops in for minor repairs vs those who had come in before them. Side note, when testing riding my bike noticed front tire was flat, gears did not shift correctly, and I was missing my bike computer. Want to support local businesses but this experience was terrible.

Top of the line place! Service can't be beat and prices are more than fair!…read more We came in to the area to do some riding at Kickapoo for the weekend but I panicked when I remembered that my sisters bike wasn't shifting and my dads bike sounded like it was having problems in the bottom bracket. Started calling around in Danville, worried we were going to be out the bikes for the weekend since it was such short notice for the repairs. Turns out I worried in vain! Keith told me he had any necessary parts in stock and he'd get us on the trail by the next day. I brought both bikes in late afternoon and had them back next morning! Keith replaced a shifter, changed out the broken bottom bracket, adjusted the derailluers, replaced a badly frayed brake cable, reset the disc brakes that were poorly installed on my dads bike and basically did everything possible to make sure we had a safe, fun weekend on the trails. And boy did we ever! Turns out these guys also help maintain and keep open the Kickapoo trails for us all to enjoy. Great job and a big pat on the back to all the KMBC people and THANK YOU!! Nirvana trail is AWESOME! Can't wait to come back next year! So go to Cycles Plus and support the great job they do and you'll leave knowing you've had your bike taken care of by people who are very good at what they do and care how they do it!

Just today, however, I went in…read morefor what I thought was going to be a quick fix on my free wheel, ended up being haggled into buying a new chain and spending twice as much money as intended. The real kicker, however, is that after riding home on my recently-repaired bike (which is only about two blocks from the shop) and then going out for a while, I come back and my back tire is completely deflated. Unless it was a one in a million chance that I happened to drive over glass (which I couldn't find on the wheel, unusual for a puncture) which happened to get through my reinforced Maxxis tire to hit the tube in those two blocks, I would say it was the incompetent repairman who managed to puncture my tube while he was working on the bike. I won't be returning.

Hudson Bay Company is a nice little bike and accessories shop located in Wabash Landing near…read morePurdue's campus. It's fairly easy to get to when there isn't construction underway. They have a large selection of bicycles of all kinds (road, mountain, kids) and lots of spaces inside and out to go for test rides. They also sell different kind of gear like sports watches, clothing, shoes, and other goodies. I've been in a few times, once to browse road bikes and another time to find Chaco's. Both times, I was greeted by employees and offered assistance. When I was looking for Chaco's, I was helped out by a very nice gentleman. They offered to order a certain pair for me, but I ended up just buying the ones they had, but they were very nice to offer. I do believe they also do bike maintenance. Great little shop. If you're a pro cyclist, or just a beginner, I recommend stopping in.
