I've been wanting to try this for a while now and finally had time on one of my trips to Guthrie to make the stop. The atmosphere is incredible, staff is friendly and attentive, and the drinks were A-1. I got the chai, which was perfectly spiced and had an amazing cinnamon-y powder on top of the foam. Prices were about average for a coffee shop, i believe my 12oz chai was $3.50. They also offer almond milk and oat milk. Sadly, no soy milk but the oat milk was a great substitute! read more

My mom grew up in Guthrie and kept raving about this local coffee shop with the New Jersey name. Now I know why! It has a hipster Portlandia feel from the inside out. Rustic tables, high ceilings and a cool coffee bar where you place your order. It's not a big menu but the locally roasted coffee and Yerba Mate tea drinks are smooth and yummy. A few more nibble options would be nice but it's about the coffee. I so so appreciate that the owners went away then came back here to open this little gem. Pick up a pound to take home and share. WOOO! What a great place to have in downtown Guthrie! On a hot July day, we wanted a few cold coffee drinks for an afternoon stroll in town. The cold brews were smooth, not bitter. Good amount of grounds-to-water that made a perfectly rich brew. My mom got an iced mocha and really enjoyed that option, as well. They stay true to being a hip, yet quaint, coffee shop that focuses on quality roasts and solid techniques. The inside and outdoor space are great for quiet work or socializing with a few friends. I ventured off the interstate for a quick drive thru Guthrie and decided I needed an afternoon pick me up when I saw a sign for this coffee shop. The barista was friendly and the Curtado was perfect. The space was packed with a wide mix of customers and the record player was spinning Etta James. I would love to have HCR in my neighborhood. read more

Imagine, if you will, a local coffee shop where the people aren't pretentious and the coffee isn't bitter. Where hipsters remain out of sight, and indie rock playlists stay at reasonable to low volumes. Where you can study in a group or by yourself, and the wifi is fast and free. A place where baristas are genetically incapable of rolling their eyes, and will make you lattes 24/7. Such a place doesn't exist, unfortunately. But that's only because Hoboken isn't open 24/7. We drove 45 minutes to get here and I'd have no qualms with going back soon. I got a latte and assumed it would taste like most other lattes. I was very wrong. The foam, the shot, the lack of any sort of bitterness...everything about it was awesome! And the pricing isn't bad either! I'm assuming it's Hoboken's way of making up for being all the way out in Guthrie :] The available sweets are also great. I got the Cranberry-Pumpkinseed biscotti and tried a bite of the Blackberry Crumble. Both paired great with my drink. Hoboken Coffee Roasters (HCR) is fantastic! I just wish it wasn't 45 minutes away from where I live. I don't know if they do public roasting or if they do it during their off hours. Maybe I'll ask next time. What I do know is that they produce some top notch coffee. I ordered a latte and holy crap, it was good! I think it might have been the best latte that I've ever had! The milk was steamed perfectly (slightly sweet which complimented the shot really well) and no sourness or bitterness in the shot. I also tried their kombucha, which I can't really say that I'm that big of a fan of. Maybe it's just that this was the first time I tried kombucha and I'm not used to the taste. We'll find out the next time I try it. I really don't have much else to say about HCR. Their coffee is fantastic and the vibe of the place is really relaxed, which I love! My go-to online is the 5 lbs, whole bean, Okie Kid Blend shipped from Guthrie, OK to my home near St Louis, MO. This is a great value for any coffee but especially for this artisan coffee. I use 8 1-oz scoops of course burr grind per 34 oz French press, sometime round up to 9-sh scoops depending if there is any leftover in the coffee grinder. When feeling rich I add a little cream. The staff is always incredibly kind and helpful- more so than any coffee shop I've been to. The young couple who own the shop came across as good people serving up a solid cup of coffee. The rustic interior of this quaint coffee shop is warm and welcoming. They play songs on their record player. You can be rest assured that you won't be bored by the decor. But even with all they have inside, it all flows together. You can tell they put care, thought, and interest in their coffee. I am no coffee connoisseur, but I've been to a couple of different coffee shops! I've tried both their Ethiopian pour over and Americano and they were both fantastic. Their pour over was rich and delicious. I also had their blackberry crumble and you cannot go wrong with this desert. I don't eat a lot of sweets. But I couldn't stop eating this. In the picture, it's coming from the North side; the shop is basically hidden with the entrance on the South side. That's where you'll want to turn in - right after the auto shop. Once you get there, everything should look familiar if you're coffee shop kind of person. Though this is more of a specialty coffee shop. (I liken it to Blue Spruce in Stillwater). They specialize in roasting, beans, brewing, and the things that I usually don't give the time to think through. Visited at 9:00 a.m. on July 4th holiday. This is hands down, the best hot chocolate I've ever had - I know, I know...it's a coffee place and I got hot chocolate? Well, that's how I roll. Anyway, back to the hot chocolate. The owner said they make their own chocolate syrup and use fresh Braum's milk. As well, they take care to control the milk froth to have a great hearty texture. Who knew the best coffee in Oklahoma is in Guthrie. Driving 25 miles for a cup of coffee may seem a tad extreme, but then you have never had Hoboken's coffee. I love the cappuccino. The drink is thick, rich, bright and clean. The taste lingers and begs you to take another sip, filling you with comfort and warmth. The treats are really spectacular. I'm usually hesitant to get baked goods at a coffee shop, as many times they are afterthoughts, dry and just window dressing. Here the treats are moist and often gone before noon. The peanut butter cookies are thick and gooey. The muffins, blueberry and pumpkin, are moist and filled with flavor. The inside is wonderful and vast, filled with the fresh aroma of roasted beans. The decor is cozy with plenty of seating. Outside hosts a welcoming deck. Be sure to grab grounds to go or beans to grind at home. Is there any combo better than perfectly crunchy biscotti and a cup of hot, freshly made joe? I don't think so, no -- especially not after a long afternoon of shopping in historic, downtown Guthrie. Great atmosphere here, too -- quaint without being kitschy. (Vintage mirrors galore, exposed ceilings, vinyl collection that actually gets PLAYED, and so much more.) To quote a snippet of Mary Margaret M.'s praise in a recent review, "They have tasty brews and exude hygge." (I couldn't have said it better myself!) Be sure to take home a bag of Hoboken's well known roasted coffee, by the way. (It's not cheap, no, but it's FREAKIN' DELICIOUS.)
