It's a casual counter-service setup, you order first, grab a table, and they bring the food out when they call your name. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. Since the weather was gorgeous and we had our dog with us, we chose to sit outside. Street parking can be a bit tight due to beachgoers and nearby shops. Their menu covers breakfast, burgers, tacos, fish & chips, salads, soups, and hot or cold sandwiches, plus beer and cocktails. We ordered the 'Cuban Sandwich' (hot pulled pork, ham, provolone, mustard, mayo, and pickles on a perfectly toasted, soft French roll) and the 'Turkey Sandwich' (cold). Both came with curly fries and were fresh and yummy. Personally, I prefer chips over fries with a cold sandwich, but the food was still excellent. Customer service was top-notch. I ordered a California breakfast burrito with no modifications-- just how it comes. It came out with the wrong meat, no cheese and no avocado. I sent it back. It came out the second time-- still no avocado. Sent it back again. Come on guys... Fully loaded Bloody Mary's with a choice between 16 and 20 ounces. You get three shrimps, two strips of smokey bacon, three olives, and a pepper. Recommend 16 ounces as there wasn't much of an obvious difference. Wasn't stiff enough but fulfilling with a great kick of spice to the throat. Freddy Sandwich is a must have. We went there because of the amazing mouth watering smell of smoked bbq. The food was very generously portioned. I had to sadly say it smelled better than tasted, but still worth the price due to the quantity. The beef/brisket was kind of bland. Bbq chicken was good but nothing special. I heard that Hoagie's is a must-try when in Pismo and I understand why. While their front counter seems placed weirdly by the door, the food definitely is something worth coming back for. Menu was extensive but husband and I opted for the Cubano (I think) and some onion rings and shrimp as sides. Shared the whole thing and glad we did! I decided to come today after the whole low grade from the restaurant issue that had came up with pest control. The quality and taste was disgusting. I ordered the popular Pismo wrap. I haven't been to Hoagies in forever!! When I was visiting over the weekend I made sure to stop by here to get their famous Pismo wrap like I used to back in the day. The wrap was great but I could tell right away the meat was different than how it was years ago. It was still really good just different. They have out door and inside seating. The register is right in front of the entrance so if it's busy then there will be a line outside. Inside it can get a little crammed. Drink station is in the food area so you can serve yourself refills. We got the Cali cheese steak, it was pretty good. We also got the fish tacos which i thought were BOMB! I did have to put a good amount of lemon and salt but I scarfed thoes tacos down. We also threw lemon juice and salt on the chips which made them taste better. In Pismo Beach, there is a shop that sells hoagies and sandwiches and if you are on this area, you have to check this establishment out. We saw this place on instagram and had to come here since we were in the area. We ordered the sandwich called "The Stanley". It has tri-tip, pastrami, mayo, mustard, red onions, jalapeño, pepper jack cheese on garlic sourdough bread. It is so good and comes with curly fries and a drink. My wife also orders a Bloody Mary that was really good. The sandwich was so good, that on our way home we stopped specifically here to get 2 more. I was pleasantly surprised by this place. I saw the great reviews on yelp and it came heavily recommended, so when I stopped in I asked for the most popular thing on the menu, The Pismo. The Pismo is a tri-tip bbq wrap, with curly fries, avocado, and cheese. It sounded odd but I went with it. First bite reminded me of a California burrito with a twist. I swapped half of the wrap for half of my buddy's hot pastrami sandwich. I was left trying to figure out which I liked better as both were delicious but with way different flavors. The mustard and pickles on the hot pastrami gave it the zing it needed but I removed the Peperoncinos which still left a little mild heat behind so I'm not mad they were on there. Overall nothing disappointed and I don't have a single complaint about the place. That's this critic's review, until next time, I'll be eating. read more

Aside form their great looking wraps in the menu, lots of reviews online have their clam chowder at one of the best in Pismo. So we just had to try it out. We had it to go, but our soup came quickly and just sat in their outdoor seating. The chowder was pretty runny without a hint of creamy thickness. It lacked that briny, savory taste of clams, and the potatoes were cut to thick for my liking. At best, it could be any a chowder you can order and any diner. I was just trying to finish the soup but my eyes are fixated to another seafood restaurant across the street: 'maybe theirs is better...' After paddling all morning, we were seriously craving Hoogies. Visually, it looked super cool from the outside--definitely had that beachside vibe. I decided to give Hoagie's a try -- I usually go elsewhere for my cod wrap when in the area. I requested the cabbage and tomato instead of curly French fries inside the wrap -- and fries came on the side, anyway. The counterperson taking my order kept saying lettuce, and I repeated a few times, you mean cabbage, since that's what is written on the menu, and they seemed a bit confused.. But it did come with lettuce, not cabbage (?). Hmm. The fish was okay, but not fried to enough of a crisp, so it was not crunchy. It was also a relatively small amount of cod in the the burrito wrap. I say burrito wrap as the tortilla was pretty thick and barely toasted. I did see other patrons sitting at the tables with much toastier-looking wraps, and it looked like the steak wrap came in a wheat tortilla. So is there more than one kind of tortilla? The tartar sauce was middle of the road and there was not enough of it in the wrap for my tastes - I like sauce. But I could not get more for the side, as the line was out the door by the time I discovered I could use more tartar sauce! So while it was fine, and the fish seemed fresh, I was somewhat disappointed, and did not munch this wrap with the zeal that I do the one from the other locale in town where I typically buy the killer cod wrap. The curly fries were good and well salted. Lots of people sitting outside; tables could've been cleaned better. Maybe staff should come out and wipe them down periodically. read more

Came here around 7pm on a Friday and loved the chill ambience in here! It's right by the beach so it was super refreshing to eat here after spending a few hours in the sun. Got a blood orange cali squeeze beer and it was so good! As someone who likes sour beer because I don't drink too much bitter beer it was perfect for me. The clam chowder bowl was so fresh and loved!!! I thought the onions added a nice touch of veggies to balance out the creamy chowder flavor. I loved how crispy the buttered sourdough top was to pair with the chowder! The service was super fast and our server was super nice. Moments later a server brought out the food, everything smelled and looked delicious. He ordered fish N' chips w/upgraded garlic fries, (we love garlic fries!) some of the best garlic fries we've had, every bite was garlicky & dipped in ranch...mmmmm perfect combo. The fish was tender but crispy bites from the batter. I ordered the Pismo wrap (could be shared), I was not expecting it to be so packed with all the fillings. It was stuffed with sliced tri-tip, curly fries, avocado, pepper jack cheese, and bbq sauce. Every bite was so satisfying, flavorful and had a little bit of everything. Some saltiness from the fries to sweetness from the bbq sauce, well balanced (I did add some cholula sauce because I enjoy some spiciness). Definitely added as a stop when doing a day trip to Pismo. I'll be recommending friends/family to make a stop at Hoagies if they're ever in the area and they're looking for a chomp because a bite isn't enough. So after all the shopping/walking, pick up some Hoagies and head to the beach (which is walking distance), because great food deserves a great view! read more

I have visited the other Hoagie locations, and I'd say this location is probably my least favorite. The clam chowder itself was good but after taking a few bites I noticed an absurd amount of completely raw onion in my clam chowder. I went to the restroom, which was all the way in the back near where they keep the food supplies. You'll see there are two restrooms which were clean. Once I came out, I noticed it was a worker, and she gave me a dirty look. Unprofessional!! The food, well I'm particular about my food. I ordered a plain burger and its cheese with the MEAT extremely well done. When my order came, it wasn't to my liking, so I kindly asked for the meat to be cooked longer.
