Drove up 4 hours just to visit this cafe. Visited a few years ago but they were closed as it was too early when we visited. A very cool restaurant with an old school style ambiance. Just a short walk from the Pismo Beach Pier. The staff was great, had Misa as our waitress. I think she could tell we weren't locals so she made some recommendations which were great, offered up some directions to other near by destinations and just had all around great customer service. The food tasted great, bbq sauce for our fries and onion rings was recommended and I believe she said it was made in house, a spot on recommendation. If we're ever in the area we'll for sure be swinging by for lunch again. read more

Went here yesterday for my sister's birthday trip down to Pismo. Keep in mind, I'm gluten free, and my sister and my cousin are both dairy free, so we had some limited options. Ambience was nice, I enjoyed the rodeo events on the tv, I'm a barrel racer and rodeo attendee as well so that was fun to see. Waitress was very nice, I don't remember her name but she had cool tattoos and orange hair, she was bringing us refills without us having to ask, and the service was extremely quick. We were a party of 6 and our food came out in less than 10 minutes, even though the restaurant was pretty busy. I enjoyed the open windows so fresh air could flow in and out as well. As for food, I ordered the hula chicken sticks and a side of white rice. Omg. Sooooo yummy!!!! both my entree and side were piping hot and perfectly fresh. Chicken was cooked thoroughly and was very tasty alongside the pineapple. White rice was perfectly cooked as well. We will definitely come back here next time we drive up to Pismo! I also very much enjoyed seeing what was gluten free on the menu, and the gluten free substitution was amazing. I'm so glad to see representation and inclusivity like this. My family and I stopped at Cool Cat Cafe while visiting Pismo Beach, and we had a great experience. I ordered the Hawaiian chicken appetizer for lunch because I'm on a high-protein diet, and it was excellent. I honestly wasn't sure I'd like the sauce, but I ended up really loving it. They offer white rice for an extra $3, but I skipped it and didn't feel like I needed it. Both of my kids ordered the kids' cheeseburgers and really enjoyed them. I'd seen some negative reviews about the service, but that wasn't our experience at all. Our waiter was attentive, the food came out promptly, and the service was excellent. The atmosphere is really fun, with an old-school '50s diner feel, surfboards and beach decor throughout, plus big-screen TVs if you want to watch sports. It was also entertaining watching other guests attempt the huge stacked-burger challenge. One guy finished it surprisingly fast! They also have milkshakes with different flavors you can mix together. Definitely not for anyone dieting, but they sounded delicious. If you're in the Pismo Beach area, I highly recommend Cool Cat Cafe. About a block from the beach, we decided to eat here for dinner (5pm) on the 4th of July. Initially, we got turned away since my wife and niece didn't have shoes or sandals having come from the beach. They went back to get some sandals on and we were gonna go to Wooleys instead but there were no seats and didn't like the order first, find a table and sit yourself. We went back to Cool Cafe and we got lucky they had a table for us. Fact that it was the 4th, the place was large to accommodate. I got the Chubby checker - chicken breast cheese Mayo bacon on a sour dough. It was okay. Kinda bland for my taste and needed something to kick it up. My wife ate a portion and she had to put tobasco salt and pepper to season. 3 stars My wife got a tri tip with sweet potato fries. Their bbq sauce was good. 5 stars Niece had the fish and chips and she seemed to like it. Our server was Sam, nice guy. Attentive and friendly. 5 stars Food was okay but prices were fair. We had the BEST dinner tonight at Cool Cat Cafe and I just have to rave about it! I ordered the mushroom burger and it was honestly one of the best burgers I've had in a long time -- so flavorful and cooked perfectly. We also tried the Pony Boy (a pastrami sandwich) -- technically my husband's choice, but it ended up being my favorite! It was that good. The calamari was sooo fresh and perfectly prepared -- everything we had was insanely good. We even ordered a cup of chili and poured it over the fries... and WOW, it was definitely hitting the spot! And it didn't stop there... the real cane root beer, strawberry shake, and the POG mocktail were all SO good too! Fun upbeat diner right on the Pismo Beach Pier and next to the Hotel we are staying at. We were seated immediately came around 3pm on a Friday afternoon. We ordered a couple drinks while waiting for our appetizers. Quick service and even better Michelada and Peach Keen. Both drinks were great tasting and hit the spot. Amazing vegan option in Pismo! While visiting Pismo for a friend's wedding, it was a little challenging to find food I could have. However, Cool Cat Cafe had a small section of the menu featuring vegetarian selections, including the Elaine La Lanne which is a veggie burger (or beyond patty) on a ciabatta with mixed greens, tomatoes, avocado, and a tropical fruit salsa. The card offered multiple discounts. I chose the half price hard root beer float. I ordered there ALI'I ( patty melt) for $13.50. Burger/sandwiches come a la carte. To add fries is another $3.50. Food and drink came out timely. Sandwich was very good but I felt it was kind of small. I never had a hard root beer float before so I didn't know what to expect I didn't care for it. The young lady at the desk is so worried about seating people that the to go food is getting cold right behind her. I ask her to check and she ignores me and seats a family. We were seated right away, our waitress was friendly and helpful. 3 of us got the fish and chips, 2 of us a cup of clam chowder(I added bacon), 2 of the kids got chicken strips, and I got these Baja tacos. They were hot, fresh, and delicious! They come with a strip of cod, cabbage, cheese, and a garlic/chili aioli sauce. The amount of spice in the sauce is PERFECT. I would definitely order again, but to share, I could only eat one taco. Also, the amount of bacon they piled on my cup of clam chowder was great! It was busy, but not too loud. I first visited the Cool Cat Cafe 2019 and I remembered it as a true gem. Coming back to Pismo, I was hoping it would live up to that memory--and it absolutely did. I ordered the Boogie Woogie, a grilled chicken sandwich, with a side salad. The salad came out first, and I loved that it wasn't the typical throwaway iceberg mix. Instead, it was a bed of leafy greens with cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, and croutons, plus a wide range of dressings to choose from. Before I could even finish, my sandwich arrived--proof how quickly this place moves. The chicken on the sandwich was huge, grilled perfectly, and full of flavor. The Cool Cat Cafe once again delivered exactly what I hoped for and more. It's rare to find a place that stays consistent over the years, but this one nails it.
