About a block from the beach, we decided to eat here for dinner (5pm) on the 4th of July. Initially, we got turned away since my wife and niece didn't have shoes or sandals having come from the beach. They went back to get some sandals on and we were gonna go to Wooleys instead but there were no seats and didn't like the order first, find a table and sit yourself. We went back to Cool Cafe and we got lucky they had a table for us. Fact that it was the 4th, the place was large to accommodate. I got the Chubby checker - chicken breast cheese Mayo bacon on a sour dough. It was okay. Kinda bland for my taste and needed something to kick it up. My wife ate a portion and she had to put tobasco salt and pepper to season. 3 stars My wife got a tri tip with sweet potato fries. Their bbq sauce was good. 5 stars Niece had the fish and chips and she seemed to like it. Our server was Sam, nice guy. Attentive and friendly. 5 stars Food was okay but prices were fair. Clam chowder was very thick and had so much in it. Good and bad at the same time 3/5. Got the open faced dog with chili. This was so good! We had the BEST dinner tonight at Cool Cat Cafe and I just have to rave about it! I ordered the mushroom burger and it was honestly one of the best burgers I've had in a long time -- so flavorful and cooked perfectly. We also tried the Pony Boy (a pastrami sandwich) -- technically my husband's choice, but it ended up being my favorite! It was that good. The calamari was sooo fresh and perfectly prepared -- everything we had was insanely good. We even ordered a cup of chili and poured it over the fries... and WOW, it was definitely hitting the spot! And it didn't stop there... the real cane root beer, strawberry shake, and the POG mocktail were all SO good too! My wife and I ate here on our trip to Pismo Beach. We saw this as we were in town shopping and decided to stop. We got seated very quickly and everybody was very nice and attentive. Love the decorations inside. They also have a little gift shop that is through a connecting hallway that also has an outside door. Cool Cat Cafe is definitely 5 stars. The location is perfect, right in the mix, surrounded by cool shops and a short walk to the beach. The service is spectacular, the host took us right to our table and we were ordering drinks within a minute. The drinks and appetizers were quick to appear, and then boom, our food was on the table. Quick like that. Everything tasted so good. My California Dreamin' sandwich was killer. Everything was so fresh and tasty. Everyone loved their meals. Fun upbeat diner right on the Pismo Beach Pier and next to the Hotel we are staying at. We were seated immediately came around 3pm on a Friday afternoon. We ordered a couple drinks while waiting for our appetizers. Quick service and even better Michelada and Peach Keen. Both drinks were great tasting and hit the spot. They do not serve breakfast only lunch and dinner. If you're in the area and can find a parking spot this place is good vibes. All staff were friendly and joking around while eating. Amazing vegan option in Pismo! While visiting Pismo for a friend's wedding, it was a little challenging to find food I could have. However, Cool Cat Cafe had a small section of the menu featuring vegetarian selections, including the Elaine La Lanne which is a veggie burger (or beyond patty) on a ciabatta with mixed greens, tomatoes, avocado, and a tropical fruit salsa. I wasn't really sure what to expect, but the salsa was out of this world and pulled all the flavors together. Food came fast and was such a fun atmopshere. Cool cat was a very cool location with a huge menu of items to choose from. Got their Leader of the pack burger (no sauce) with added side of fries and the Marylin Burger with a side of sweet pineapple. burger and fries cravings satisfied. It's pretty lively and loud for dinner time, we got lucky and only had to wait about 15-20 minutes. This place seems good for large groups though with plenty of seating and TV monitors to enjoy games with good company. read more

Cool Cat Cafe says it all in the name. The atmosphere is laid back. Reminds me of an old school diner with a great vibe. They specialize in burgers, including the famous "808" for competition eaters. I had a Pismo summer day cocktail and my wife had the "Dulce De Jack" adult milkshake which she enjoyed a lot. For our meals we had the fresh fish tacos (hint: ask for the green salsa for a nice kick). The garlic aioli tasted great. We also tried the Jailhouse Rock burger with mushrooms. The card offered multiple discounts. I chose the half price hard root beer float. I ordered there ALI'I ( patty melt) for $13.50. Burger/sandwiches come a la carte. To add fries is another $3.50. Food and drink came out timely. Sandwich was very good but I felt it was kind of small. I never had a hard root beer float before so I didn't know what to expect I didn't care for it. We were second timers this past trip and oh em gee I see why we went back. The food was delicious! I will definitely be coming back the next time I'm in Pismo. Our server was very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. The food took maybe 15 minutes to arrive to our table from ordering but the time went by fast. We were seated right away, our waitress was friendly and helpful. 3 of us got the fish and chips, 2 of us a cup of clam chowder(I added bacon), 2 of the kids got chicken strips, and I got these Baja tacos. They were hot, fresh, and delicious! They come with a strip of cod, cabbage, cheese, and a garlic/chili aioli sauce. The amount of spice in the sauce is PERFECT. I first visited the Cool Cat Cafe 2019 and I remembered it as a true gem. Coming back to Pismo, I was hoping it would live up to that memory--and it absolutely did. This spot hasn't lost its charm one bit. The retro diner vibe is still alive, the staff is just as upbeat and welcoming, and even with a packed house, service was impressively fast. I ordered the Boogie Woogie, a grilled chicken sandwich, with a side salad. The salad came out first, and I loved that it wasn't the typical throwaway iceberg mix. Instead, it was a bed of leafy greens with cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, and croutons, plus a wide range of dressings to choose from. Before I could even finish, my sandwich arrived--proof how quickly this place moves. The chicken on the sandwich was huge, grilled perfectly, and full of flavor. The Cool Cat Cafe once again delivered exactly what I hoped for and more. It's rare to find a place that stays consistent over the years, but this one nails it. We LOVE this place!! Everything about it screams for us to visit when we're anywhere near. The cool cat is a total diner, epic in its decoration, the food is always great. The servers we've had have just been exceptional every single time we've been. For us this place has become a destination, always will have a milkshake there. The milkshakes come with a sidecar basically a whole whole new milkshake to refill your glass or share. The cool cat is a perfect stop after a day at the beach, or midday walking around. My Hubby had the Duke burger, and he even said it was "excellent!" He rarely says anything beyond "it's ok." So this is a big deal! They had actual good food-not touristy, gimmicky stuff. We sat in an outside area with roll up doors that opened right to the outside. The interior style was rock n roll 50s. There's a main restaurant and outside seating-sorta.
