I hadn't been to Alex's since the took over the Bender's spot on Price Street. We went for lunch and were pleasantly surprised. They did a great job renovating the space. The cheese curds were delicious, we shared between the table. I had the tri tip sandwich and it was perfect, I love that they use a meat slicer to cut the tri tip super super thin so it's easy to eat it as an actual sandwich. The sautéed veggies on it were a tasty addition, but the real winner was the steak fries! It's hard to find anywhere that still serves them and Alex's were delish!!

Its a sports bar...Locals go there to watch sports, hang out and drink. The food is an option. The head bartender, Schaeffer, is an icon of Pismo Beach and pours you a good drink with lots of banter. Only bad thing is their bar stools are very uncomfortable.. sit in the booths.

Spicy Margarita! Bomb!

Get the tri-tip nachos!! I can't believe this place has been here for 2 years and this was our 1st time here!! The Tri-tip nachos were AMAZING! And so were the hot wings & drinks! Forgot to take a pic of the nachos :/ definitely one of our new favorite spots!

1/2 order biscuits and gravy

My 3rd time into Alexs had to try breakfast this time. Had a great omelette made to order with their crispy hash browns! Also upgraded to biscuit and gravy instead of toast. The omelette was light and fluffy, lots of options for fillings. Also the hash browns were amazing, they were like insane tater tot coins. Biscuits and gravy were good, lots of flavor, didn't have to add salt like I do at most places. Tried one of their signature bloody Mary's, it was so good I forgot to get a good picture of it! Definitely a great hidden gem for breakfast in Pismo.

I asked for crispy chicken and they gave me grilled. The Mac n cheese was a 3/10 the cheese was nasty. Service was quick The ambiance was clean

Gluten free fish and chips. Veggies included, but not shown.

OMG! The Gluten free fish and chips are to die for!!!! They are a rare thing to find and these are the best I've ever had!

Chorizo Potato Bites

Well it started with a couple of cold ones, then an appetizer (chorizo potato bites) out standing I will say. Follow by one beef rib, that was so tender with great flavor. Top all that off with a fantastic service makes this place on our list the next time we visit Pismo.

Do I want to have to jostle against them as I fight my way in the next time I'm in Pismo? Well, the food here is so good that I've decided, when I win the lottery, that I'm moving to Pismo so I can live closer to Beachin' Biscuits. I was raised on biscuits and gravy. My Granny was from the OK Panhandle and I was unfortunate enough to live in West Texas for almost a decade while growing up. The one good part of that experience was biscuits and gravy (and chicken fried steak). Calling Beachin' Biscuits biscuits and gravy "legit" is to undersell them. These are special occasion B&G. Also, for the first time in my life, I felt like putting gravy on a biscuit was (almost) a crime. These biscuits are f***ing good! Even under layers of sausage, cheese, and gravy I could tell they were fluffy and buttery. Pretty sure these are the biscuits served in heaven. I write this review the day after my visit, having just finished eating my wife's leftovers - and yes, they reheat well. Maybe a few people will read this review and decide to inconvenience my next visit by being there, but I take solace in all the California moss munchers who will never know the joys of sausage gravy, and therefore, not interfere with my next visit to Beachin' Biscuits.

Almost Like Someone's Home…read more.... After a nearby doctor appointment, my wife and I were on the prowl for a late lunch (1 PM). She had a few really good experiences at Holy Belly so I agreed with her suggestion (smart guy). - Overall: 5 - Location: 5 - Ambiance: 4 - Menu: 4 - Food: 5 - Service: 5 - Price and Value: 5 - Parking: 4 - Bathroom: 3 - Location: On Grand Avenue by 9th Street. It replaced Darwish...a Middle Eastern restaurant. - Ambiance: Unpretentious. A neighborhood spot serving breakfast and lunch. Tables are neatly arrayed around the room to the right of the front door. - Menu: Not huge, but many interesting items. Everyone should be able to find something. - Food: Very good...and piled high. I had the "Oriental Garden Salad" ($13) with a piece of grilled salmon ($9). The menu described it as "crisp greens and shredded cabbage, sweet bell peppers green onions, cucumber and julienned carrots topped with golden wontons". Check out the photo. Lots of good tasting food. One note: The salad was slightly soggy. I'm glad they washed all the ingredients, but the kitchen needs to drain things a bit more thoroughly. My wife had Avocado Toast ($13) with smoked salmon ($8). She's quite picky about Avocado Toast, but said this was an excellent version. We each had a glass of Ice Tea ($5 each). - Service: Very friendly and warm. Holy Belly is family run and it feels that way. It's almost as if you've been invited into someone's home. - Price and Value: Perfectly reasonable. - Parking: Some on Grand Avenue with more on the side streets. - Bathroom: There are 2 restrooms. I only saw one and it was okay. Holy Belly is a nice addition to the restaurant scene in Grover Beach which is bound to get more competitive with the completion of large residential buildings down Grand toward Highway 1.

I had the La Royale, which I'd describe as a decadent French toast sandwich loaded with thinly sliced grilled ham and gooey Swiss cheese. It was excellent. We also tried the ricotta pancakes with blueberry compote, which were equally delicious--light, flavorful, and a great complement to the savory La Royale. Prices were very reasonable, service was friendly and attentive, and the location was convenient with easy parking. Holy Belly is definitely going on our list of go-to breakfast and brunch spots the next time we're in town. Looking forward to coming back and trying more of the menu!
