Amazing service and really good vibes. The staff were all so nice! I would highly recommend.

I arrived around 6:30pm on a Friday night. I ordered the tri tip tacos, as well as a coke (which are refillable). My total came out to $20.16. The way it works is you order at the bar, and then they will take down your phone number to text when your order is ready. However, it seemed like they were more using the loud speaker because I didn't receive the text until 9:57pm that night. My order was ready at 6:53, so we were looking at about a 23 minute wait - which I think is fair given how busy it was. The food itself was just okay to me. I didn't think it was anything to write home about, but that could be because I had some really great tri tip at the SLO Farmer's Market the day before. However, I will say, I really liked this place for the environment. There was live music, and a lot of table and chairs to just look out at the water and just enjoy the views. It was super family friendly, and I found it to be really enjoyable to just sit and hang out. I did find it odd that they close early (8pm) on a Friday night. At 7:59pm, the employees will come up to you to let you know that they close at 8pm, so it seems like they are strict about that. read more

The Wife and I were in Avila for my b-day week. We had rented bikes and on the way back to our AirBnB, we stopped for a bloody mary. One of the best Bloody Mary's I have ever had. I wish we had more time to toss a couple more back! Go, Drink Well, HAVE FUN! read more

Located on the Avila Beach Gold Course, this was our post driving range spot for a quick bite and beer after hitting the driving range. Both indoor and outdoor seating is available and I highly recommend sitting outside so you can enjoy the ocean view. They have a full bar here and a pretty solid food menu. They serve burgers, chicken sandwiches, and other classic bar menu items. We opted to share a few apps instead of full meal. The tri tip bites with bleu cheese, carne asada fries, and some onion rings. The tri tip bites were by far the fave. Tender tri tip chunks in a au jus with a dollop of bleu cheese. I don't even like bleu cheese, but this combo was very good! The carne asada fries were a little on the stingy side. Not the best fry to meat ratio. Their ocean view pairs great with a cold beer and good company. This venue offers live music during the weekends and from what I can see they host events here as well. read more

When my family visits Avila Beach, we very often go to Mulligan's Bar and Grill restaurant due to our previous dining experiences. Generally speaking, golfers possess a certain social status and financial resources. So sometimes the restaurant at a golf course may be pricey. But this restaurant's food is delicious and affordable. Even though I don't play golf, I've always loved the food at golf course restaurants. It is always great. I even attended a wedding and a funeral banquet at a golf course. So far, no golf restaurants I have been to have served unappetizing food. read more

The good: great outdoor atmosphere. Beautiful views of the river and ocean in the distance. Service was friendly. The bad: food is not good. Sourdough bread special had stale and dry bread. Fish tacos were not good. Clam chowder was mediocre at best. read more

10/10!! Such a cute spot!!! I love the casual, outdoorsy, chill afternoon vibes. Outdoor space is so cozy, breezy, chic and dog-friendly! They have dog water bowls inside for the pups and a simple pup menu! The outdoor area has tons of andirondak chairs, fire pits, regular seating and lay-down lawn chairs. There's a perfect mixture of seating in the sun or shade. Service was excellent. Very friendly staff on a Monday afternoon. I'd describe the food as typical bar food that hit the spot. The fries were super crispy and surprisingly my favorite part. read more

We decided to take a break from a long walk with our pups (on Bob Jones trail). What better pit stop than to have Bloody Marys at the beach! The outdoor seating is dog friendly (and I believe they have a dog menu). There was abundant patio seating with great views of the ocean. The drinks were very zesty, just the way we like them. The dogs seemed to appreciate the rest break as well. I would most certainly repeat this stop in the future and grab a bite to eat as well. read more

Food is good and people working are nice. It's got a lot of outdoor seating with an ocean view and it's a very comfortable and relaxing atmosphere. It was not to busy while we were there. Food was done quickly. Order at the counter and they call your name when it's done. Prices are reasonable especially for the area it's in. read more

Would definitely eat there again. Fish and chips were great, crispy, not greasy, tender and flavorful. Fries were crispy and flavored well. The tartar sauce was unique with a bit of a lemony taste. I liked it! Only 'complaint' is that the portions were a little small. Only got 3 fish pieces that were shaped like fish sticks (only larger) and the order of fries was on the small side. Service was great, order at the bar. Friendly staff and quick service for a busy Saturday. read more

Really nice place, view of the beach and nice outdoor seating..but..... the staff is a bit rude and it doesn't really make you feel good. Got there at 11:39am there was 4 groups of people in front of me and my friend and it took 38 min to help the four groups, so by the time we got up to the front we were a couple min past the 12 mark breakfast and we got to the front and the women was really mean about the fact that there was no more breakfast ... we left read more

We live in the community here in San Luis Bay Estates. First I have to say we love to sit and enjoy the live music outdoors at Mulligans. You can't beat the location to enjoy the Oceanside entertainment. We rarely eat here as we haven't had the best food, though with my daughter visiting we decided to get dinner while we sat to listen to music on a Saturday night from 5-7 pm. There was not a big crowd and actually the bar was empty when we ordered. We ordered 2 of the crispy chicken sandwiches and an order of fish tacos. The sandwiches were barely edible. The buns were very burnt on both and the chicken very overcooked and dry. I did take mine in to show the main bartender woman. The food here is unfortunately the worst in all of Avila. Very disappointing. You can and should do better! read more

Ok, 1st time at this place, and they are taking some liberties calling it a restaurant. It's actually a small grill that is part of the golf pro shop. Food wasn't bad, but not we were expecting - from a "restaurant." You order your food (limited menu) from the guy behind the counter, checking in golfers and pouring drinks. You go grab a seat (outside seating is amazing) and then when they call your name, you go get your food (on paper plates) you also grab whatever plastic ware you need along with packaged condiments (salt, pepper, etc). We stopped by for "brunch" (my wife wanted a beet salad, and I wanted breakfast). The beet salad was decent (the beets weren't pickled, nor were they fresh). My Chi Chi Chile & eggs were basically a bowl of tri tip chile (not bad) with an egg on top. We also had an order of fried pickles, but they were so salty, we could barely eat them. This isn't really a restaurant, but a grill inside a golf shop, so it's hard for me to recommend other than for the nice outdoor seating. read more

Yummy food. Great service. Love the ambiance. It has a great beachy vibe. Great live music in the summer. It's right there by Avila Beach.

We stopped in, looked at the menu and ambiance . We weren't feeling it and walked out. It's an older restaurant. Needs some TLC but I'm sure they need support to find any remodels. I should've supported but I was looking for a vibe since here on vacation. Next time .. I'm in the area I will at least grab a drink! Staff were nice . They greeted us right when we walked in. read more

When I first went here, I thought oh no I don't think I'm gonna like this. Mulligans has been here for a long time and it's totally changed. You place your order and I had an Asian chicken wrap with onion rings and it was fantastic. My husband had tri-tip sandwich and it was pretty good. I ended up with two buffalo trace old fashions Yum Yum. They had live music which was great, but a lot of people didn't appreciate it, but I did. I think I'll go back here again as we live nearby. Service was good and weather perfect c Our server was Sina and she made good drinks. read more

Five star breakfast! I wish I took pictures, but I was too hungry and the food was so good that I forgot. I had the avocado toast. I love all the flavors mixed together. My husband had the chi-chi chili and eggs. He loved it. The view is great, and the customer service was wonderful. I'll definitely go back. I love that they have a dog friendly patio. The only thing I would change is that they have stronger forks because the plastic forks could not easily work with my toast. read more

We didn't have a meal here today, so I can't comment on their food. They have live music here on the weekends. We were here On a Sunday afternoon. There is a large grassy area that is partially shaded. They have seating with tables and fire pits in this lovely tranquil setting. The weather was perfect. You have a view of the tributary and ocean as well. We enjoyed a bottle of red wine while listening to the music of the Soul Kool Band. They played a lot of 60's & 70's soul and dance music. They have a dance floor for your pleasure. There was a variety of age ranges attending from parents with children, multi generational groups and seniors. It's a fun way to spend a Sunday afternoon in a beautiful place. read more

So disappointed in my meal - last time I was here, the sandwich was outstanding, so I was happy to eat here again. On their weekly menu - toasted cheese with bacon and apple. It sounded delicious! The ingredients were a great combo. Unfortunately, the chef threw a miniscule piece of some kind of melted cheese on untoasted, ungrilled, dry bread with no condiments. The bread - some sort of wheat sandwich bread (including the thick end piece) tasted stale and dry. Even the bacon and apple couldn't fix that. I added some mayo which helped a bit. (some may ask, why didn't you send it back? - many of my friends who worked in food services have told me over the years that you don't know what will happen behind the kitchen door - so don't ever send food back unless the kitchen is open or you know the staff.) The location is great - but they need a chef who knows who to make a gooey toasted cheese! read more

My wife chose this place for her birthday dinner spot. What a Huge Mistake. Their were six people in our group. Three had the Tri-Tip sandwich. Just looking at the meat you could tell it would almost not be edible due to being over cooked, almost burnt and dry. Another person had a hamburger which was also over cooked and dry, pretty hard to screw up a hamburger patty. My wife had the Fish Tacos which was also over cooked. I had a Chlil Dog and Onion Rings. The Hot Dog was OK but the Chili did not even look like chili. It was a few pieces of ground beef and tri-tip with a few beans. It had no sauce to it. The onion rings were good. My wife did say something to a waitress who asked how things were. About five minutes later they brought two more orders of the Tri-Tip sandwiches. They did look not over cooked but still appeared to be dry. Just look at the photo to see for your self. This was absolutely the Worst meal I have seen in a very long time. Perfect location at the Avila Beach Golf Course. Views of the beach and nearby lagoon are beautiful. Mulligans is a very casual, layback, no frills or thrills locals spot; however, don't be fooled by the relaxed atmosphere. Drinks are well if you get what I mean. The grill puts out quick, good pub fare. Live bands are seasonal. There is dancing and lots of fun to be had. You don't have to be a local to enjoy Mulligan's. This is one of those "hidden gem" spots! We've even stayed at the San Luis Inn that is right next door and hadn't noticed it. It is down the hill and next door to the pro shop for the golf course. There are large menu boards up next to the entrance and above the bar. You place your order at the bar and then go find a seat. We found a great spot in the shade outside and didn't have any problems with insects. Our lunches (salads and sandwiches) were good and tasty. The view of the ocean was great! A nice, relaxing spot for lunch, especially during the week (apparently it is a lot busier on weekends). read more

The last time I ordered take out from here, my fried food was completely burned (2 orders). It was apparent that the items had been re-fried because the breading had a brownish tint as opposed to the golden breading. To no surprise, the food was dry and tasted burnt. I did enjoy a salad from here but it set me back $18 for a normal portion. After my latest experience, I will probably steer clear if I can avoid getting hungry on this part of the bob Jones trail. read more

Great vista & tasty food. Ordered a Beet Salad & Burger & Fries. The salad was fresh & beautiful. The sauce was on the side, because we like it light. It was a good tasting dressing. The burger was presented on a BIG fluffy bun with a blue cheese smear. I added a bit of ketchup because I love it & it added a little moisture. The fries were crispy & seasoned but not too salty. The light breeze, sunny day, and easy-listening music (Regae) made for an enjoyable afternoon. Oh and who could forget the sweet sailing sailboats in the Bay! Efficient ordering & quick service.
