The pastrami was so good and I highly recommend it. The place is very very clean. Staff is super friendly and approach able. Some if the best tasting food there is. Is your traditional platters with SLO uniqueness and flavor. Love it.. The portion sizes are on point for the cost. The restaurant has spacious indoor seating and quite a bit of outdoor seating also. We didn't order beer but they appear to have a wide selection of beers. We all ordered different things and you can see they did a nice job prepping the fog food with decent portions, toppings. The coconut shrimp was so good, the fish and chips were thick, flaky pieces, the burger was huge and the wrap was packed. Easily one of my favorites in SLO. read more

Very friendly staff when we walked in. Came in during Tuesday lunch, and the traffic was not bad. Food came out quickly. We ordered the Pismo wrap that came with BBQ sauce. Can't go wrong stopping for some tri-tip cheesesteak in San Luis Obispo! My photo is of half the sandwich (asked to split for two), and it was a perfectly hearty portion served steaming hot with tender meat and soft bread. I'd skip the brownie next time, it was quite thick and not as moist as expected, but the cheesesteak was super satisfying. Love the ease of parking and plentiful seating both indoor and outdoor. I had the Pismo wrap, and it was good. Tri-tip with fries, avocado, and BBQ sauce, but this had a bit too much. The guy at the counter was nice when he told me I couldn't have the sauce on the side and suggested to order light sauce, but it seemed like they went heavy on the sauce. Y'all it was gem after gem on our overnight trip to SLO. After checking into our hotel we were hungry and looking for something to eat. I wanted something on the light side since it was a little late. Of course YELP to the rescue. Hoagies is a cute little spot in the downtown area of SLO. They have indoor and outdoor seating as well as TV's and a small bar area. The service was impeccable. The menu made it hard to decide what to try. My hubby had the Pastrami and curly fries, and I had the Dirty Bird. First let's talk about the Pastrami. I'm usually not a fan of the meet because it's not cooked long enough, but this was perfect it had little burnt tips which were perfect. Now the Dirty Bird. Let's just say the portion size was amazing and the wrap was past delicious. It was crispy chicken, pepper jack cheese with curly fries, and bar-b-que sauce. We hung out and enjoyed our food. But wait let's not forget the deserts. I tried the homemade chocolate chip cookie which was superb. They also had cupcakes and Rice Krispie treats which looked just as delicious. read more

Ordered the dirty buffalo wrap or so I thought I did but then received the dirty bird (pictured) which is essentially just chicken strips and bbq sauce. I was so disappointed and thought they completely messed up my order but then when I left I rechecked the menu and there is a god awful wrap that has these ingredients. I should have probably spoken up to an employee immediately upon reveling my order. Either way the taste was very mid, big portion size I guess but really it's just all the curly fries taking up all the space. Had a rice krispy as well and it was just all right, tasted a bit old and not so fresh. I was on the bus on my way downtown and already had decided on a place to eat with a friend, but as soon as I opened Yelp and saw the size of Hoagies' sandwiches, I knew I had to change my plans. Hoagies is solid sandwich spot right next to the bus stop and a couple of blocks away from the main part of downtown SLO. There's plenty of seating inside with a lot of TVs to keep you entertained. The menu here is very extensive; they have a plethora of wraps and sandwiches to choose from, ranging from the popular chicken Caesar salad wrap to your classic Club sandwich to the Pismo wrap stuffed with tri-tip and fries. They have something for everyone. I ordered the Cuban, which came crammed with sweet juicy pork, salty ham, and a spread of dijon mustard. Now I've had authentic cuban sandwiches before--my great aunt is Cuban and has made my family a killer cubano--and this one tasted pretty close to it. It's also worth mentioning that the portion sizes here are massive. You could easily save one half of your sandwich and curly fries (one of the best fries out there) for a second meal. Cheesesteak Heaven with a Side of "Best $3 I've Ever Spent" Ordered from Hoagies for delivery and wow -- they do not mess around with portions. The cheesesteak? To die for. Juicy, cheesy, perfectly messy -- everything a cheesesteak should be. I upgraded to chili cheese fries for just $3 more instead of regular fries, and I swear that's the best $3 I've ever spent. They were enormous -- piled high with chili and plenty of onions in perfect proportion. Normally fries like that cost at least twice as much, and this upgrade alone was enough food for two people. And because I clearly wasn't ordering light, I added clam strips. They don't come with fries, but the portion was so generous it felt like a bonus prize. Everything arrived warm, fresh, and just as ordered. Between the cheesesteak, the chili cheese fries, and the clam strips, this was easily two full meals -- maybe three if I had any self-control. I was in SLO with a school trip. The menu had a nice variety of sandwiches burgers and tacos and looking at the images encouraged me to order a sandwich called the "Freddy". Ot came with a choice of chicken or tri-tip (I chose chicken). Chicken was cooked well and tender, bbq was sweet and tangy cheese melted through and the avocado was fresh. The sandwich was split in two and I folded it incorrectly so yeah check the bread to make sure it is folded right. Most of us sat outside on a nice day that evening and there was plenty of room for us. I didn't go inside but it seemed to a little bot of an old west interior to it, so I was a bit indifferent to the fact. So far this restaurant is pricey but if you are willing to look for a quick lunch, burger, sandwich or tacos. I can recommend it not as a prime option, rather a satisfying one. read more

This last time was just gross. I've been here a couple of times. Never had anything notably good, but it was inedible this time. The pismo wrap was cut through the center to show off how generous the meat was, but when you bite into it its just a clump of dry meat in the center only. Non of the sauce was mixed in so as you get past the meat you get a bite of sickly sweet bbq sauce. Almost no avocado. This is a nice roomy place with beer and cider specials. We went in and ordered lunch, I ordered the fish tacos (grilled) and my husband ordered the the Big Italian sandwich. When our trays arrived it was a massive amount of food, mine loaded with 3 tacos and chips and salsa, his loaded with the sandwich and fries. The problem was the taste, there wasn't any.... My grilled fish tacos had no seasoning, none and so it was like eating cabbage salad with no dressing. I tried putting the salsa on the tacos, but this did nothing for the taste, it was what I call "white people tacos and salsa". lots of food that has no taste.... The meat on the sandwich had good flavor, but the roll that they use for their sandwiches is too soft and bland. It's like Bimbo bread, there is no tooth to it, no flavor, no nothing.....
