Food: I had the hot pastriami. It wasn't too wet, it wasnt too dry, it was perfect. I had a of week but it was fantastic. service: it was decent. No one was really there so we pretty much had the place to ourselves. ambiance: very pub like, i can host a lot of people and a great spot to watch sports or have a great time.

Can't go wrong stopping for some tri-tip cheesesteak in San Luis Obispo! My photo is of half the sandwich (asked to split for two), and it was a perfectly hearty portion served steaming hot with tender meat and soft bread. I'd skip the brownie next time, it was quite thick and not as moist as expected, but the cheesesteak was super satisfying. Love the ease of parking and plentiful seating both indoor and outdoor. Highly recommend for a good hot sandwich!

Y'all it was gem after gem on our overnight trip to SLO. After checking into our hotel we were hungry and looking for something to eat. I wanted something on the light side since it was a little late. Of course YELP to the rescue. Hoagies is a cute little spot in the downtown area of SLO. They have indoor and outdoor seating as well as TV's and a small bar area. The service was impeccable. The menu made it hard to decide what to try. My hubby had the Pastrami and curly fries, and I had the Dirty Bird. First let's talk about the Pastrami. I'm usually not a fan of the meet because it's not cooked long enough, but this was perfect it had little burnt tips which were perfect. Now the Dirty Bird. Let's just say the portion size was amazing and the wrap was past delicious. It was crispy chicken, pepper jack cheese with curly fries, and bar-b-que sauce. We hung out and enjoyed our food. But wait let's not forget the deserts. I tried the homemade chocolate chip cookie which was superb. They also had cupcakes and Rice Krispie treats which looked just as delicious.

This place is pretty good. We ordered the breakfast burrito with bacon and sausage with light cheese. Sorry there's no photo we ate it. I would highly recommend this place. If you're visiting Cal poly San Luis Obispo great place for breakfast lunch and dinner have to come here again.

Came here for a water polo team lunch, and it really didn't disappoint compared to the other location in Pismo when it comes to service, atmosphere, and pricing. I had the Pismo wrap, and it was good. Tri-tip with fries, avocado, and BBQ sauce, but this had a bit too much. The guy at the counter was nice when he told me I couldn't have the sauce on the side and suggested to order light sauce, but it seemed like they went heavy on the sauce. This is the only reason they lost a star. Otherwise, reasonably priced, especially $2 Red Stripes! The Clam Chowder, club sandwich and Big Italian were all tasty.

Ambiance: we were digging the vibe and decorations. Everything about this place was pleasing to the eye, CLEAN, and cute! We loved the VW planter! Service: Super fast service, very friendly and helpful explanations. Food: We came specifically for the chili and the pastrami sandwich. The pastrami was hands down the best pastrami I have had! For me in my personal opinion the chili fell flat, I had super high hopes for it. The texture of the tater tots was on point they were fried to crispy perfection. The seasoned curly fries were good, but those tater tots were perfect. The portion sizes were huge! Would I return? Absolutely for pastrami and tater tots!!

All I have to say is, get ready to EAT! We had the cali cheese steak and the BIG Italian. Both sandwiches were huge with a good serving of curly fries. We also order onion rings and they were so crunchy and delicious with the accompanied ranch sauce. Make sure you get the ranch, it's not your typical bottled sauce. This place was so good we ate lunch here twice for a 3 day trip! Outdoor seating is cool if you have your furry friend with you.

Cuban sandwich

I was on the bus on my way downtown and already had decided on a place to eat with a friend, but as soon as I opened Yelp and saw the size of Hoagies' sandwiches, I knew I had to change my plans. Hoagies is solid sandwich spot right next to the bus stop and a couple of blocks away from the main part of downtown SLO. There's plenty of seating inside with a lot of TVs to keep you entertained. The menu here is very extensive; they have a plethora of wraps and sandwiches to choose from, ranging from the popular chicken Caesar salad wrap to your classic Club sandwich to the Pismo wrap stuffed with tri-tip and fries. They have something for everyone. I ordered the Cuban, which came crammed with sweet juicy pork, salty ham, and a spread of dijon mustard. Now I've had authentic cuban sandwiches before--my great aunt is Cuban and has made my family a killer cubano--and this one tasted pretty close to it. It's also worth mentioning that the portion sizes here are massive. You could easily save one half of your sandwich and curly fries (one of the best fries out there) for a second meal. They also have some sweet treats on display, so I'll have to make my way back to try those...

Ordered the veggie sandwich to go. Drove home to Margarita, opened the container and this is what I got. Are you kidding me? No pickles, no onions, no avocado, no mustard, no balsamic vinaigrette and no cheese. Unbelievable. Called as soon as I got home and call went to voice mail. They were busy so I expected that. This sandwich use to be on my weekly rotation. I teach at the college up the street so always super convenient. Not anymore. Check the box before you leave I guess. Huge disappointment.

Went to Hoagies for the first time yesterday! The interior was beautifully decorated, it was very open and had lots of seating. I ordered the Pismo Wrap with no avocado and added sour cream inside. It was so so so good! Putting fries inside the wrap made it so much better. Extra sauce was not charged and was given! The service was quick and easy. Will go back try other sandwiches as well as their drinks! Pro tip: use sloeats to get bogo sandwiches :)

Dirty Buffalo Burrito

FIVE STARS!! Dirty Buffalo Burrito is where it's at. Period! Hoagies will forever be my favorite place to grab lunch and/or dinner. Always a staple and go-to. The staff are always friendly and the service is quick.

As college staff taking students on a Central Coast campus tour during spring break, we needed a place for lunch on short notice. When I called, the staff was incredibly helpful and connected me with Caitlin via email. Not only did she respond quickly, but she was also kind, flexible, and truly accommodating throughout the process. From the moment we arrived, everything was handled seamlessly. Organizing a group of our size is no small task, but the team managed it with professionalism, patience, and genuine care. The seating was thoughtfully arranged, service was efficient, and every member of our group felt welcomed and taken care of. The food came out in a timely manner, was well-prepared, and absolutely amazing! It was so nice to see everyone enjoying their meals, and it really added to the overall positive experience. Even when we decided to order dessert at the last minute, the staff remained gracious and accommodating. We are incredibly grateful for the effort and flexibility shown to us. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone--especially those planning group events. Thank you for making our visit such a success!

We ordered the famous tri-tip sandwich, the Firebird, and a half-and-half basket of fries and onion rings. To be honest, we were both a little disappointed by the tri-tip sandwich. They give you a generous amount of meat, but the flavor was milder than expected, and the meat itself was slightly tough, which made the sandwich less enjoyable overall. The Firebird, on the other hand, was unexpectedly delicious. It is basically two chicken tenders in sandwich form, but the fresh toppings and Thousand Island dressing brought everything together perfectly. The true star, though, was the fries and onion rings. Seriously, just get them. We had not planned to order them, but the cashier convinced us and guaranteed we would not regret it--and he was absolutely right. The fries were definitely on the salty side, but in the best possible way. The onion rings were my personal favorite and easily the winner of the meal. What's not to like?--great value, quick service, and comfort food done right.

Love the thin crust and flavor which was distinctly meaty with tomato sauce to cut through. It could have used more toppings for the price and it was also slightly burnt on the edges of some of the crust so we couldn't enjoy it fully. Helpful staff guided us with their patron favs. Started with: 1) meatballs: flavorful & tender (probably added panade). Marinara nicely balanced. Pistachio pesto added a nice nutty accent. Tasted similar to a 1,000 isle type dressing. 3) three pea pizza: buddy doesn't like goat cheese so ordered it on the side. Crust was great, veggies fresh & colorful. It really needs the goat cheese though. Otherwise it lacks dimension. I was able to sprinkle on my pieces. Made a world of difference. 4) bee stang: crust had crisp edges. Middle got a bit soggy from toppings. My NYC buddy loved the ability to fold it in half though. Great overall flavor. The hot honey added just the right amount of tang/tart. It's one of those things where you don't know what you want but every menu all looks the same. We finally tried it out for dinner after a weekend in the wine country. The restaurant is right in the heart of downtown SLO next to the park and riverwalk. We had an early reservation at 6 on a Saturday and let me say the place was packed. The outside patio was completely full which was nice to see. Checking in was easy with the hostess. All was sweet and made it fast and simply and we were seated right away without having to wait for the whole party to arrive. Menu wise, a bit of everything but they specialized in paella's. And that was had. Our waitress Kaitlin was the sweetest. Right from the start, she was a major doll. Made sure we were taken care of throughout the whole dining experience. Started off with a bottle of red for the table. A good selections from their menu. Then a few small shared plates for the table. An order of the bacon wrapped dates, Brussels sprouts, Peruvian shrimp ceviche and the gambas al ajillo. First off the dates, very tasty with salty and sweet. A good bite size with about 6 piece. Then the ceviche, nice chunks of shrimp with all the trimming. Cucumber, red onions, tomatoes , avocado, cilantro and chips. Then you have the sprouts which is pretty self explanatory. Roasted to a nice crisp with golden raisins and almonds. Pretty decent and delicious. Lastly the gambas, sautéed shrimp in paprika garlic and white wine sauce with a Parmesan slice of sourdough bread. Everything was delicious and a good start to an amazing meal. I do recommend the starters. For our entree, even though we started off with loads of the shared plates. The mains all looked amazing. Clearly we had to have the paella which they're known for. There were couple options in them but we opted for the mix which was a combination of the seafood and meat paella. Let me say it was massive and clearly more than enough for four of us. The nice big chunks of seafood and meat which they did not skimp on. The flavors and the whole combination of everything together, chefs kiss. It was pretty massive as well. Of course we couldn't just stop there, we also had the lamb chops with frites. Cooked perfectly and very tasty. The hanger steak with chimichurri sauce accompanied by roasted potatoes and sautéed broccolini. That dish was excellent and steak was cooked perfectly. Lastly, I believe it was one of their specials the sea bass. A nice thick and flaky piece of fish on top of a red sauce of tomatoes, olives. The flavor was excellent and worth it. The food was excellent and it was a surprise when there were leftovers. We may have over done it with the extra entrees after seeing the massive platter of paella. But every dish was excellent and worth it. The service was great with everyone involved. Friendly staff and excellent customer service. The food and wine were great. The whole dining experience was top notch and greatly enjoyed. We will definitely be back. At least we know about the paella now...lol... A must and highly recommend. The outdoors was really beautiful, they had plenty of greenery and it was like a tropical paradise. We got a lot of appetizers to share, they have options to order 4, 6 or 10 tacos. We got 10 start off with. I personally got a paella as it has been forever since I had it. *brussel sprouts- 4.5/5- one of the better versions of brussel sprouts I have had in a while, they were beautifully roasted, they retained their character but at the same time were delicious instead of tasting too healthy. *fingerling potatoes-4.5/5- potatoes tend to be tasty any which way they are cooked. The standout in this version was the finger licking sauce it was doused in. *paella- 4.5/5- I got the chicken paella. It came with a soft jammy egg. The dish had 75% protein and about 25% rice. The rice at the bottom was nicely crisped up. The chicken was in large chunks but surprisingly non funky and wonderfully flavored. I stole some of the sauce from the tacos to amp up this dish further. 4.5 for the food, rounding up for the good vibes and great ambiance!
