    Chicken Cheesesteak
    Coach B.

Worst cheesesteak sandwich I've ever had! Dry and no flavor. There's no way they seasoned anything ! Counter person told me they were good! Only ate one bite. Cheese wasn't melted either. Only thing worth eating was the pickle.

Next to Beals, around the corner from Plaza.

Over priced. Good food but not big enough portions for the price, especially the soup. Paid $6 for a small cup of soup.

The usual convenience store food is here, burritos, corn dogs, pizza, with made to order salads and sandwiches. Breakfast and lunch is where Alexander's really shines, biscuits and gravy, breakfast burritos, sausage egg and cheese biscuits. Lunch, starting at around 10:30am, features a daily special with a rotating menu. I live in Canadian, but work out of town. My employer understands that on 'Meatlloaf day', I am automatically off. A local family owns and runs Alexander's, the family are legendary for their generosity and kindness. The best secret at Alexander's? The fountain drinks! Best in the panhandle. Two clean restrooms, so if your passing through, check out a place popular with the locals! Don't forget that Alexander's is also a full catering outfit. If you attended a school prom or banquet around Canadian, then odds are you've already tasted Alexander's! Alexander's is my first stop every morning when I leave for work, and my first stop when I return to town. Best Coke Zero fountain drink I've ever found (you have to ask for it, it's on the fountain machine at the drive-thru.

Upon entering, we were greeted by the cashier/busboy/waiter with, "Ya'll traveling?" We were the only non-locals in this joint. Fun spot to stop just for the local color. Lolly's is also a sort of grocery store, even though a lot of the shelves were bare. They also have a daily lunch buffet--"all you can eat" we were told. (The buffet was only about three feet long but they kept getting phones calls to see what was being served that day---chicken fried steak.) We split a bacon cheese burger (because it was a half pound affair) and some onion rings. Burger was well done but tasty. Everything was clean and service was friendly. Definitely not fancy, but cute and quaint. (One patron came in to buy cinnamon but the shelves were bare. No, worries. The cashier just went to the kitchen and came out with a small to-go cup with a bit of cinnamon in it for her. Gotta love small towns! )

It's located on a street that looks completely deserted, and actually is for the most part. I mean, it looks like an old western movie set or something! It's just a stones throw from old Route 66 which is why I'm assuming most people would be in the neighborhood. It was our stop between The Route 66 Museum in Elk, OK and Cadillac Ranch in Amarillo, TX. We were of course the only people in this little joint decorated with 50's nostalgia.... The cuisine is American comfort food as is most along the infamous highway. Here it's offered at insanely low prices. The kiddos were starving and ordered a pizza, 1/2 plain, 1/2 mushroom, a single pancake and some kind of corn nuggets the staff suggested with creamy dipping sauce. Kiddos were totally satisfied, loved the extra cheesy pizza and those fried corn things and had leftover pizza for that night. The guys that worked here were all super sweet. One was even originally from near my hometown! Another reason to stop here beside cheap nosh is a freezer filled with pops, microwaveable meals to go, as well as some toiletries, necessities, and groceries. It's definitely geared to those of us on the go, traveling The Mother Road. *Oh, and there's a gas station around the corner. We were told to fill up there as there's not another one for miles and miles! **A couple of neat things we stumbled upon while in the area are an old fashion abandoned gas station great for photo ops as well as a 10 Commandments sculpture on a corner just in front of the towns church which was pretty ironic being that it was Passover when we were here.

I was given a paper to take to customer service where you give them your information, and all they care about is "putting points on your card." Forget about getting discounts or savings, they think if you know you are getting screwed out of saving money the first time, you will come back and give them a second chance. Nope. I care more about my bad back and not having to carry bags by hand through the parking lot to the bus stop. Got asked by 3 employees to take my groceries to car in one trip. I appreciate the offer, but not every person in Amarillo owns a car, so stop bothering people! If they need assistance, they will request it. I lived in a city that had an amazing HEB where you put your own groceries on the belt, bag them yourself and take them to your car yourself. Prices are much lower at HEB because of this. Not all people in Amarillo grew up here and there are plenty of visitors. This is why this grocery store's prices are so high! All the employees doing unnecessary work that able bodied adults can do themselves. Save it for the disabled, elderly or anyone who requests assistance. It's not customer service, it's annoying and bothersome. Just have employees be on the lookout for carts in the parking lot. This location bothers me more than any other. You need coupons here to pay the regular price at Walmart or other grocery stores in other cities. High prices!
