Mejia's Bakery

We stopped at Mejia's Bakery while passing through town looking for a quick lunch. At first glance,…read morethe place almost looked closed--it's very unassuming from the outside and located in an older strip-style row of storefronts that gives off a bit of an old-west small-town vibe. Don't let that fool you though; once you step inside it's clear this is a very authentic Mexican spot. The interior is long and narrow. On the right side when you walk in there are bakery cases filled with a wide variety of traditional Mexican pastries and baked goods. On the left there's some seating and an ice cream area, and further toward the back there's a larger seating section that looks like it's used for their buffet (which we were told they offer on weekends). We visited on a Wednesday, so we ordered from the counter instead. The people working there were very friendly and welcoming, and the prices were very reasonable. I ended up ordering a cheese quesadilla with fries. The fries were actually excellent--crispy, salty, and exactly what you'd hope for. The quesadilla itself was okay. In fairness, this is clearly a place that specializes in more traditional Mexican dishes, and I probably didn't order the thing they're best known for. If you're looking for authentic Mexican food and pastries, this seems like a great local spot and it's definitely worth checking out. If your taste leans more toward American-style Mexican food, you might find the menu a little different than what you're used to. Overall, a friendly local bakery and restaurant with very fair prices and a lot of traditional options.

Traveling through Pampa and decided to stop at Mejia's. OMG! A little bakery, ice cream shop and…read moreMexican grill all together. The food was amazing! Flour tortillas fresh, hot and charred...delicious! We got some things from the bakery to take with us, can't wait to try them. They have a Buffett at lunch on certain days, so sorry we missed that. I think it was Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday and maybe Sunday.

Happy Hour special is the bomb. I really loved their draft options as they have 14 beers on Tap…read more Service was spot on and loved the decor. My favorite taco was the Asada, then barbacoa, Al Pastor, Chicken and then beef (it's ground beef do you expect anything different, lol) . My first meal I had was the Mexican burger and was blown away on how juicy it was and how the ingredients complimented each other. The Asada Nachos were so good I wanted more, loved the crisp and freshness of the dish. I never had the "Chorro Beans" and when it was described to me I was like "Oh bean soup" and Julez chuckled at me. Let me tell you, that Bean soup was so good, the heat along with flavor complimented the dish well. I wanted more but glad for the portion as it allowed me to have the chicken fried steak which I was surprised on how tender and flavorful the sandwich. It tasted like the bread was thrown on a buttered griddle and when the mayo was spread on it along with the grease of the steak it was a match made in heaven. The biggest surprise to me was the "Elote Ribs", so flavorful and if it wasn't for the mayo it be a great vegan option. I ended my trip with the "Texas Old Fashioned", Julez hooked it up and it was amazing. First time ever having the Texas Whiskey. Thank you for Great food and Vibes. -JT

Don't ever work here for this business the owner Abby likes to lie on staff on doing their job so…read moreshe will have Jules (mgr) fire you and then call other businesses to say you don't need to work for them. The food sucks as it is and the management crew are rude when you try to talk to them. They give ugly looks and ignore customers. They have the worst turnaround as well.
