Food is typical for an eatery of this type, but it is plentiful with acceptable prices. Service is extraordinary considering there is no direct table service other than to bring food and constantly check to make certain everything is all right. Ambiance is okay for the class of eatery it is. One feels "at home" with this restaurant. I recommend Onions without reservation. read more

This is a fairly popular spot in downtown. I came on a recent business trip to the area and thought it was alright for a small town. The menu is pretty small and I chose the double onion burger since the cashier said that's what most guys order. It's pretty bland with little to no seasoning. The patty may be fresh beef, but its pretty small, maybe 1/4 lb each before cooking. I finished my 2 patty burger very quickly and wasnt even all that hungry. They only have American, swiss and pepper jack, so I didn't add cheese. I really couldn't taste the grilled onions either. I was thinking the onions would be cooked into the patty. The fries are fresh cut with no salt added. Wish they were a little crispier. I added a homemade coconut merengue slice, which was pretty delicious. The sweet tea was not sweet at all...maybe they forgot to add sugar? read more

On a pilgrimage to visit my Grandmother's home town of Borger, we were famished and in need of some grub in the area. Onion's filled that void for lunch after walking around the ghost down town of Borger. Honestly, the place was right up my alley. I could only hope for something so genuine that carried a presence for such a long time. You walk in and can feel the history. You can see the high schoolers from generations ago hanging out. You feel like you're a part of history. Now aside the mushy and sentimental stuff, the food here is simple, but good. They have a couple variations of burgers, but the two biggest are going to be if you'd like a traditional Onion burger, which is where onions are pressed in with the burger, or if you want a Char burger, which is without onions, but still as delicious. I ordered with everything on it, which seemed to hit the spot. You honestly can't lose here. It's just a great greasy dive of a place, that deserves some love. And, don't forget the pie. They had quite a few variations from Chocolate, peanut-butter to a cherry meringue pie. Lots of love for this little hole in the wall in the forgotten oil boom town. read more

This was a happening place at lunch time! Lots of seating and cute decor. It smelled amazing inside! The menu isn't huge but there are plenty of good choices available. The charcoal cheeseburger was delicious! The fries were ok! I prefer mine more crispy but they were fresh. We had to add salt. Our to go order was missing one order of fries but since the orders are big enough to share we were ok. The prices were good! This is a good solid place to eat at! read more

Borger has limited choices, and Onion's would be a favorable option in a town twice this size. Excellent little place. Friendly help, a surprising amount of seating inside, and very good food. Two varieties of burgers; so you're offered a choice. Onion burgers on a traditional grill, with the onions seared into the burger. Or chargrilled burgers cooked over open flame. Both were very good. Neat little downtown with this gem of a restaurant. The cheeseburger was amazing and you could tell it was a fresh hand pressed patty because it was tender and flavorful. Upon arrival this place is inviting and warm. The atmosphere is fantastic. Customer service was awesome, she even gave recommendations. We ordered the charcoal cheeseburger with chili cheese fries and the club sandwich. Everything tasted great. The burger was extremely flavorful and the club sandwich is the best we ever had. However, the chili cheese fries fell short of our expectations. The chili was bland and needed more seasoning. Other than that minor tidbit everything was awesome. A great place in Borger. If you are here on business, this is a definite lunch trip. Would I give this 4 stars in Dallas? No, but location is a big factor in reviews. They clearly make it all from scratch here. The charcoal burgers are juicy, but rather bland in flavor. It's all well and good to have the meat speak for itself, but it has to be really good meat for that to work. They do a great job toasting the bun to buttery, char-y goodness though! The french fries need work. They are fresh potatoes, but they seem to not double fry them, which is necessary. So just ask for them extra-crispy if you can, and that solves that! They have a decent soda selection (free refills!) and homemade desserts, too. Overall, it is a good experience, and it is a haven for business travelers to get a good meal! read more

Ok, the 5 stars is for the taste of the burger, fries, chocolate pie and super friendly staff, not the size of the burger. The whole meal with drink was a little over $11. Which is ok considering they are located downtown. I thought the burger could have been a little bigger but it was super delicious IMHO. Homemade cut on the spot fries were a real treat and they don't add salt to the which is plus to me. I rather salt to taste. Very well decorated with some nice antiques and memorabilia If you come through Borger and want a burger skip the fast food joints, this is well worth going out of your way for. Also they have an all you can eat spaghetti special. I'm going to come back here again the next time I'm town. read more

We visited Onions 2-4-2017 for lunch. I ordered the spaghetti special. It was a generous portion and it was very good. My son had a cheeseburger and French fries. He greatly enjoyed his food and said it was a perfect sized burger. My mother enjoyed her stew. The service was so friendly and professional. The food was served promptly. The restaurant is charming with retro décor. We really liked this place and will come back for sure when we are in Borger. read more

My family went in for an early dinner 10/2/19. Staff is very friendly and helpful with questions about their menu. We all had burgers and fries. My kids got the onion burgers and they were just the right size for them (6&2yo). My husband and I both had the Charburger mine filled me up and tasted good. I think my husband would have been better with a double. Fries are fresh cut no salt or seasoning but with added salt had good flavor. They were a bit less crispy then I prefer. I ate here because I was in town for work. I ordered the grilled hamburger with cheese and fries. I ordered the fries extra crispy and I'm glad I did, they were pretty good. The hamburger was a little disappointing because it was a little on the dry side and the patty was probably about a quarter pound when they started making it the size of a Burger King JR by the time I got it. Don't get me wrong, it was better than a BK JR, but that isn't saying much. It just wasn't something that I would stand in line for 10 minutes to order again. Absolutely not impressed with the chili cheese burger, a bun and meat patty in a paper boat covered with chili and served with a fork. I guess we just ordered the wrong thing because the place was packed on a weekday. This was our first visit, maybe give them one more chance and order something different. read more
