Wow. Let me start by saying I am not a vegetarian but I love locally sourced fresh food. I heard about hive cafe through their hot sauce business and decided to give them a try. Being not familiar with Kutztown I wasn't sure where to park but I parked on the Main Street and cut through to the alley. The building is well marked and is adorable inside. I decided to go with a burger since I really enjoy veggie burgers. I ordered the one with mushrooms and blue cheese (local of course!) and had it served over greens. The burger itself was wonderful - great flavor, texture and with a nice char on it. Probably the best veggie burger I have had. You can tell that it was made from scratch and a lot of thought went into the recipe. The blue cheese and mushrooms were the perfect pairing - adding richness and tang. And finally the greens were so fresh. I realized I ate them all before I had finished the burger because they were so good! The oat milk soft serve was a nice end to the meal. I love ice cream so wasn't sure what to expect from this non-dairy version but o was pleasantly surprised by how creamy and flavorful it was. I'm glad I tried it and would definitely have it again. The two people working were both extremely nice and helpful. I will definitely be back!

My husband and I absolutely loved their buffalo "wings"! It's a must try for sure. This restaurant serves organic food and roots their practice in sustainability. It was great to see the wooden utensils and compost system they have going on there. So happy to support local restaurants who care about the environment and the health of the people they serve!

This place has the best vibe and nicest staff. The menu could have used a few more vegan options but what I had was good and came out quickly. The salad that came with my lunch was good, but the must store the dressing in the fridge because the evoo was solid. No need to refrigerate balsamic and evoo friends! The salad was colorful and fresh. Delicious beets! The grilled cheese was tasty and the bread was very fresh tasting. Overall, I need to go back and try their vegan cheesesteak next time! Also they had vegan treats from Bethlehem and I got the PB brownie and wow. That was amazing. I also bought a loaf of the fresh bread and a few other items and everyone on the staff was helpful and told me when I almost got something not vegan so that was super.

We stopped here on our way to Bethlehem. We ordered salmon tacos, the mushroom panini, and scrambled tofu for our children. My fiance also ordered the green hemp smoothie. The portions are medium size, if you are ordering the tacos, you'll definitely want a side. The atmosphere was great. They had eco friendly utensils and straws. My only complaint is that the ordering system could be more organzied. We were asked three times while eating whether an entree or salad was ours. Perhaps give order numbers a try? Would definitely recommend and return.

I am not a city person at all... had to be in the area for a few days. I was staying in Wyomissing, I had gone to a couple of places for meals and they were absolutely terrible!! My husband and I are also fairly new to being vegan. I have been a vegetarian since I was young but we made the change a couple of months back, so we are still learning. I was very frustrated with the lack of vegan options and also the lack of any healthy food options altogether! I saw this place and it seemed worth the 30ish min drive, especially since I was starving! Oh my gosh, was it ever worth it!! The two ladies working there were so great too! After a short time it was just one girl by herself, she said they didn't schedule anyone to help her- but she kept her cool and still gave great service and she was very helpful in making suggestions. You can see the entire kitchen and see all the fresh ingredients they use. I ended up ordering the Hive burger, vegan, some kombucha, a smoothie, and I got a smoothie and lentil soup to go so I could have a healthy dinner back at the hotel!

Great little spot I found thanks to you Yelpers! I had a phenomenal vegan cheesesteak, and a delicious green smoothie. Kids had pb&j and sunbutter & j sandwiches on artisan bread. The bread was so good I bought a loaf to take home, along with some of the amazing soap they sell (and use in the restrooms). The inside is nothing fancy, but it's clean and everything seems made from scratch. I love the vibe and wish there was a similar spot near home. I was only in town for the apple festival, but will definitely seek this spot out when I'm back again!

If this is what they serve when they have limited facilities, I can't imagine what they can do at the taphouse and with a fully functioning truck! I ordered over the phone, using a student special, which said $13 for a large pizza. I chose this over the Wednesday special, which was a large cheese pizza for the same price. I figured because one specified cheese, I could get pepperoni on the other one. When I arrived, I got a Coke as well, but the price was coming out to $20. I was then informed by who I assume was a manager or owner that it was $3.50 for pepperoni. It wasn't even specified on the phone, on the website, I only noticed right as I was about to swipe. I wouldn't have even been that upset about the hidden price if the pepperoni wasn't $3.50. Really?

Entering Mamma's, the place has the exact same layout; wasn't sure what I was expecting but I walked straight back to the counter where some kids were working. Since I had to take everything in, I took a menu and a seat, trying to narrow down what I wanted. Stuff I lived off, cheeseburger sub and chicken sub were still listed, as well as the chicken tender platter. I knew I had to order pierogies since it's been years so that was the first thing I did, and the platter won this round. When he asked what sauce I wanted for the bread, I actually had to think since it obviously wasn't the default tomato sauce anymore (I chose bbq which I also used with the chicken). All of this for under $20 which is a steal compared to where I am now. Took a while as expected, but by the time I got back to the car, I was one pierogi down. Food was just as good as I recall. Only thing is the bbq sauce was on the watery side which was odd, but that was it. Why four instead of five stars? I noticed on the receipt way after the fact they have a 'CC Surcharge Credit Fee'. This was a whopping .54 cents, however I PAID IN CASH. I think the teen guys were too much in a rush to talk to their boys hanging out than paying better attention ringing me up, but besides them, I can't believe a little town like Kutztown implemented a ridiculous surcharge, especially with all the students. I expect such a thing in 'big liberal cities' like where I now reside, but here?? It's also not listed on the menu, and I also didn't notice any signage hanging up around the counter area, so just be aware of this unnecessary fee. I guess they are with the times after all. This won't prevent me from returning, but I'll definitely mention it next time when being rung up. Otherwise, the food took me back to when the only thing I to worry about was what final to study for/current crush/etc.

The coffee selection was decent for a cat cafe with a big selection of flavor syrups to add to your drink. The little gift shop was fairly priced and had a lot of unique things. I loved the little black cat mascot, as we have a few furry voids at home. There was about 16 cats in the room when we went on a Saturday afternoon. You can tell they are well taken care of and that the staff cleans very frequently in there. With the 3 of us and the other family we had enough room that we didn't feel jammed in. There was one orange cutie that kept trying to knock my Niece's drink off the windowsill, and a precious long haired grey cat that claimed my husband's lap for the last half of the hour. We were given wet treat tubes to feed them which all the cats went nuts for and there were plenty of feather wands and toys for us to interact with the ones who wanted to play. The coal theme plays in perfectly to the area and the wagon appears to be the hang out area for the cats. It was a fun experience we plan to do again soon. It's a great cause (socializing and getting cats adopted) and the owner is obviously passionate about the mission.

Their goal is to find homes for these adorable felines and so far have placed 24 cats into forever homes in just three months. As Ron mentioned, you don't do this kind of business to get rich. I think it's more of a vocation. There is coffee and packaged treats available for sale. Not only that but a selection of T shirts, and fun toys for your favorite feline. The real stars here are the wonderful cats. I personally love how the owners tied in the Coal Region history into this modern forward thinking (in all the right ways) business. You will sign a waiver to enter (customary) the cat area. It is themed with all things Coal, like a mine decoration, pick axe and even a "coal wagon" delivery wagon (the cats seem to love it). We stopped by in passing but you may reserve time online. The number of people permitted is six maximum. The only other such cafe I knew of was in Philadelphia. I believe thanks to Covid and lockdowns that went under. The owners are enthusiastic about helping animals and customers visiting. Please support this incredible business and bring your little ones and friends to enjoy these sweet creatures. I did not get pictures of the entrance room but it is organized and colorful.
