Almond Croissant
Dianna S.

Stopped by this wonderful gem in the downtown area to try a pecan chai. I also picked up a special pastry- An Almond Croissant. It was to die for!! My coffee was quite tasty as well. I love the chai flavors. I ordered it half sweet. Perfect foam on top. Service was great. The guy was so nice and friendly. The deli is always clean and I enjoy seeing the bakers make the pastries. Pretty busy when we stopped by this morning. Forgot to take a picture of my pecan chai. It was that good! I know I will be back. Love the coffee and tea drinks and the variety of pastries, salads, and bagels.

Day two of my Memphis trip stopped in for a quick breakfast. Hive was in walking distance from my hotel. It's a nice small shop with a few seats outside. I looked at the menu before I came but I got a little indecisive once how I was how delicious it looked in the case. I still went with the bagel and lox but the croissant was calling me and they wouldn't let me sub the bagel. I asked for capers and the cashier went to the back to ask. We I got my order no capers, the energy was a little off from the staff so I decided not to send it back. I was still good and a big portion of salmon for the price. I'd stop in again if in the area and try something else.

Amazing bakery ... delicious sandwiches and baked goods .. center of downtown.. the cutest shop ... very friendly... the baked goods here are so yummy

We got the Cortito and iced latte. Both were good. Got the BLT on an everything bagel, this one was a home run. Got the veggie smash on an onion bagel, didn't get the chimichurri flavor in the marinated beets. Also thought that the beets could be sliced thinner. Got the dark chocolate and raspberry cube. Liked the texture, however was lacking in depth in the actual dark chocolate and cherry flavors. Though the creaminess was done very nicely. I would recommend a big girl flavor for each sandwich as I think this might've helped elevate the veggie smash. I think it was a triple but with a few tweaks could easily be a home run as well. May even recommend trying it on the rosemary bagel, that was one of my thoughts, however, I thought the veggies would compete with the rosemary flavor, even adding a dash of salt... Not sure very close to being perfect though.

So good! I got egg & cheese on a Rosemary bagel and it was exactly what I was craving. The Rosemary bagel had great flavor and the eggs were perfectly cooked. I'm looking forward to when I'm back in Memphis to stop by this place again!

Alas, I've found a gem. Hive Bagel & Deli is the one and only bakery that Memphis downtown residents, visitors and tourists in downtown alike ought to pay a visit. They are the only bakery in Memphis that offers decent collection artisan croissants, bagels, breakfast sandwiches. I've been searching for a proper coffee shop or bakery for croissant to no avail. It appears that croissants are not in vogue here as much as cakes and doughnuts. Their bagel culture runs strong though as there is even an honey butter everything croissant here. Pop in, and check out their baked goods!

Everything Breakfast Bagel w/ Onion, Tomato, avocado

I walked over from my hotel for breakfast. The staff were friendly and the store was really quaint. I ordered a breakfast bagel and a drip coffee. The cashier told me what add ons were available because there isn't a list of add ons anywhere, so just ask. I added onions, tomato and avocado and it was one of the best breakfast sandwiches I have had in a long time!! Highly recommend! They also had some half & half and sugar for those that want it.

Lox bagel

This is a nice bakery! I stopped in one morning while I was in Memphis to get a lox bagel to go. The bagel itself wasn't as chewy as I like them but there was a lot of lox and I ended up having leftovers for another meal. The other baked goods look really yummy, I would try them the next time I visited!

Got here right at closing after my daughter and I just had lunch at Gus; see other review. Quality/Quantity - Wally Salad - My wife really enjoyed this salad, good size. So healthy and fresh, see picture. Chocolate Croissant - My daughter expected more chocolate, but she still enjoyed it. Meringue Cookie - My daughter really liked this; I thought it was okay. Sugar Cookie - My preference of the two cookies. Atmosphere - Small local business. Open bakery, see picture. A few indoor seats, but a decent amount of outside seating. Since we got here at closing, they suggested we eat at the covered patio of their neighbor as they have a "relationship." Open 5 days a week from 8am to 2pm, closed Mondays and Tuesdays. Clean unisex restrooms. Service - 5 stars. The "girls" were so friendly, supportive, and welcoming. They also gave my daughter a nice and thoughtful surprise. Thank you. Price - $26. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since early last year 2023. Please take care of the people that take care of you! See pictures of your great team up front.

The perfect breakfast stop! If you're looking for a quick bite to eat in downtown memphis this is the place. It was busy when I stopped in, but the service was very quick! I loved how the plain bagel was red for valentines, such a cute touch. The bread was delicious, you definitely could tell it was homemade and the coffee was amazing. The restaurant was modern, I just wish it had more sitting space. Will be going back!

Pepperoni bagel.

The food was good; I enjoyed the lox on an onion bagel. However, the service could be improved. The ambiance is okay, though it is a small place with limited seating inside.

Barely toasted bagel. Cream cheese not spread. Plain bagel with cream cheese.

The combination of freshly baked bread, smoked turkey, pickled avocado, and crispy bacon creates an incredible flavor in every bite. The atmosphere is just as enjoyable as the food. With its laid-back vibe and cozy seating, it's the perfect spot to relax and enjoy a great meal. Today, I paired my sandwich with Jalapeño Ranch Sea Salt chips, and to top it all off, I grabbed a Jarritos Pineapple soda--the perfect drink to complement an already amazing lunch. If you're looking for a delicious sandwich and a welcoming place to unwind, Hardtimes Deli is definitely worth a visit.

The only downside is the price, as spending ~$20 on a sandwich is never fun, but it seems like that's just about everywhere these days. However, if you're not that hungry, these sandwiches can be stretched to 2 meals to keep the cost down. A few of my favorites are the Turkey Bacon Ranch and the SSS Chopped Cheese. Also ordered a side salad, personally I'd skip ordering that again it wasn't very special (no cheese, no croutons, rough chopped onions). I think thinly slicing the red onions ring style would have made the salad a lot more enjoyable. The pizza was fun to try all of the different flavors. I ordered online and was able to select the pickup time. I ended up needing to change the time so I called and it was easy to have them change that. The lady was super nice and helpful who I talked to. Inside was a bit chaotic, I'd say it's more of a grab n go type of establishment but there was some tables for sitting if you'd want to in a room off to the side. No music was playing or anything but there was some decor. There are 2 entrances/exits. I enjoyed the window painting. We thought the pizza was very good. Worth stopping by if you're in the area or pass it on the way home!

The pizza slice was pretty good - not horrible but not spectacular either. I would definitely come back one day for a freshly made whole pizza! I really enjoyed the fried mozzarella - the cheese tasted pretty fresh, the breading was good, and the marinara sauce tasted as if it was made in-house. It's a dish that probably would've been better eaten inside, because the heat and condensation from the container sorta softened the breading by the time I made it home. As some other reviews mentioned, the ambiance inside is a little dull. The soda machine was broken, so I'm not sure if drinks are available, but the young guys that were working were pretty friendly. The seating area seemed pretty spacious, though unoccupied.
