I was looking to replace my entire AC system which is why it's important to find the best in the business and rated the best. It's also important to find more than one 5* business so you can get a better picture and quotes for such an expensive endeavor which I found helpful. If you're going to go all the way with such an expense, it's best to educate yourself as much as possible, and there's lots of YouTube videos on AC repair and replacement which you should watch prior to making that decision. You really need to be an informed and educated customer or you might find yourself with an inferior or wrong system. I found that certain AC companies want the steer you to certain brands they represent, so you may wish to decide on a brand first. I found that the Carrier Infiniti system with its very high seer rating and variable speed was the perfect choice. More details on this system in the photos below. If you live in a two-story house like mine, you can expect the price to be much greater due to the fact that you have dampeners which will need to be fixed or replaced which greatly adds to the bill. As for my AC, it was over 20 years old, but still chugging along. However, I knew there was going to be new mandates in 2025 which would greatly add to the expense of AC replacement such as a new refrigerant which is slightly flammable called Puranovance. I replaced my old R22 compressor with the new R-410a which is still readily available, but will eventually be phased out many years from now. I also mistakenly thought you'd get a good deal by replacing it during the cool months, but apparently a lot of people were doing what I was doing so no break in the price. As a matter fact, the date of manufacture of my new Infiniti compressor was only just a couple weeks old before it was installed. After some back-and-forth on pricing, we finally decided on a date of installation. Carl and his crew showed up and had everything installed within six hours and hauled off the old units. We still needed some troubleshooting in order to dial-in the thermostats functioning properly, but everything works perfectly now and the temperature remains exactly as you set it throughout the house. Both the compressor and the blower motor are incredibly quiet. Since I knew I needed this replacement at some point, I had enough money in the bank to cut a check for the job. When you sign up for Carl's service, you get Carl in the equation. Check out the photos below which show you the equipment, specs and the pricing. Update: After 2 weeks the plenum did separate, but I was able to use foil tape to close up the 8" gap. Personally, I think a 30 day check up would be a good idea not just for Carl, but anyone who gets this kind of installation from whatever company you choose.

I told him to not intentionally annoy my dogs because I was working, which caused him to pack up his gear and leave without saying anything. He stated in his report that he didn't want to bother the homeowner for being busy working, so I was not informed of any recommended maintenance. At this point I had my gate unlocked and garage door open still for access to the attic. If I hadn't noticed that he had left, anyone could have walked in and stolen tools that I keep in the garage. I reached out to the office and the feel I got for them was that they didn't care at all. I got an "I'm sorry this was your experience" from a manager after chasing them down with emails and phone calls. The response was extremely lackluster other than "sorry you had a negative experience." I will not reward incompetence with my money.

Greentek advised us the cost to repair the washer was higher than what we wanted to pay. (The amount of the repair and the amount we put into repairing it in the past was going to exceed the cost of a new washer.) So, we declined to have Greentek repair the washer and decided to buy a new washer. (Not a Samsung!) Both experiences were positive and we have no complaints with Greentek. The guy who came out was super nice. He diagnosed a bad compressor (in our 2 year old system) within minutes. Obviously parts are covered under manuf warranty, but we were on the hook for labor and somehow also the cost of freon (not unique to this company, but what a sham). Where it gets interesting: We were initially told it was $1600. Somehow after I had said yes, the estimate jumped to $2600. Supposedly this was due to the size of the unit and the amount of freon - our system requires 8lbs 2oz. Sticker shock on sticker shock...but whatever. We were just hoping to get out closer to the first estimate and moved forward with the appointment while the weather was nice. On the day they were scheduled to come, we were given a window of 8-12AM but told it would likely be around 10AM. We obviously made arrangements to be home. By 1PM, we had still not heard from them. My partner called to check in, and he was told by the office that they were running late on a job but would be there shortly. By 3:30PM, we had still not heard from their office. We ended up just canceling the appointment... These days, there's just no excuse for poor communication. It's super freaking rude to leave people waiting - people who have taken time off work to make sure they're there for the appointment window you provided to us. It's not that hard to keep people posted if things change. I fully respect the fact that other jobs can run late, etc. But to miss a 4 hour window by 3.5 hours without even a call to us is beyond ridiculous.
