My friends and I booked a room at the hipark on very short notice when we found our previously booked spot was unsuitable for the four of us. We literally checked in about 20 minutes after we booked, and for a reasonable price too!
The clerk at check in was very nice and when we asked him if we could keep our bags in the luggage room until our flight, which was scheduled for about 4 P.M., he told us it would not be a problem. The room was clean, comfortable and up to par with our standards. One issue we had was with the washer/dryer, which for about 4 euros per dry cycle, did not come close to drying our clothes.
It wasn't until check-out, though, that our experience turned very sour... About an hour before we had to leave, I phoned the front desk and told them we were running a little late and requested an additional hour to get our things together and clean up. A young blonde staff member (I think her name was Atrina or something similar) picked up and told us it would be "impossible." "What about just 30 minutes?" I asked. Her response, "impossible." Ok, not the biggest deal at all.
When we got to the front desk only 5 minutes late to check out time, with our wet clothes on some hangers we had brought from home and we were greeted by Atrina again. "We have some bags we need to store here for a few hours until our flight so we don't have to lug them around town." There were 4 of us in total staying there so we had 5 bags in all. When we told her we had 5, she blatantly rolled her eyes and told us to wait. We also had 2 clothes hangers over-loaded with our wet clothes from the dryer. We told her about our clothes and that we desperately needed to put them in with our bags and hang them. Her response, "impossible."
We plead with her for about 15 minutes straight and told her about the dryer situation. We asked if she (the hotel) could pay for another dryer cycle because for 4 euros, our clothes should be dry. She responded, "You want me to pay for your dryer cycle? Impossible," she said again rolling her eyes. Not you Atrina, the beautiful hotel you work for was what we were hoping. It was out of the question and she nearly laughed at us. She then began to berate us for being so late to check out, as if it had anything to do with our wet clothing. We were 5 minutes late, kill us!
She then refused to hang our clothes in the back room for security purposes, something I can understand, but her only solution was to put our wet clothes in our suitcases with the rest of our dry clothes were. She could tell we were getting upset and offered to get the manager, something we accepted right away. She walked into the back for a couple minutes and came back saying he was not available. Ok Atrina, what about our clothes?? After much arguing, another staff member came to the rescue with a compromise. She offered us big plastic bags for our wet clothes and we gladly accepted because now our other clothes would not be ruined.
Overall, we had a fantastic night in the hotel but our interaction with Atrina completely ruined our experience and I vowed to write a lengthy review so she might be talked to. It seems she had a serious attitude problem that morning and our day suffered because of it. This review is mainly for the management to read because I doubt others had the same experience we had because like I said, the facilities were amazing.
I sincerely hope she is talked to and made to understand that hospitality is everything, and in your industry, reviews are worth more than gold. This is the only reason I had to give it two stars out of five. Thanks for reading. read more
