I've heard really great things from my friends about this place so I decided to order takeout and I'm happy I did!! The restaurant is pretty small and to my knowledge during covid you have to make a reservation. All the staff were very kind and were all wearing masks. Packaging was great and they gave me a variety of sauces which I was very thankful for. The dinner box is such a great deal, you get so much food and everything was so fresh and delicious! Great service at the door. Prompt seating and taking of order. I haven't had such nice mid-grade toro since living in Japan. The salmon came grilled, so the flavor was as expected. The meat was tender. Shumai tasted like it had been frozen. The rice was old. All in all, I'd definitely go back for the toro. I'm a sucker for good toro and it's hard to find. This was my first time coming here as it was highly recommended by a friend. He raves about this place and assured me that my one hour drive will be worth it! I'm going to have to say the place did not disappoint! It's a small sushi restaurant in Oviedo with high quality food. Not pictured was one of the best spring rolls I've had! I'm a salmon kind of gal, so I got salmon sashimi and just asked for salmon in their Naruto roll, add cream cheese. I also ordered the spicy kobachi but some how received salmon kobachi, it was still delicious! My friend got the sushi burrito, which I would've tried it, but I was too full! Hinode was a solid 4 stars all around. Food shined at 4. Service was a solid 3. Restaurant setting a solid 3. House Special Rolls and hibachi veggies with rice were the orders of the day for my wife and me. The presentation of the Rolls was fun (see the picture) and well-crafted. The seafood tasted fresh with the OMG featuring salmon and crab and a sweet and spicy combo of mango and spicy mayo, and Lovers roll went all in on the spicy with the spicy tuna and spicy mayo. For both Rolls, the combinations worked well and were satisfying. The hibachi veggies were crisp and the soy sauce-based brown sauce melded well. The seating filled up as we enjoyed the Friday night meal around 6/6:30 and at times I noticed a wait time, but it appeared to be short in wait. Good crab Rangoon, mediocre sushi. Oh let's not forget waiting 40 minutes for our food. People that arrived after us had gotten their food before us. Waitress never mentioned anything to us so I sat patient because my wife said lnot to cause a scene" so I waited. We ate, and I would say not the type of sushi that makes you say "man this is delicious!". If the waitress would have at least acknowledged that she forgot to put our order in order tell us something as to why it took 40 minutes, then I wouldn't be as irritated. The only good thing that came out of this dinner was being alone with my wife and spending quality time just talking. I will not be going back. read more

I saw a Tik Tok of the sushi roll lit cooked by a blow torch and I knew I just needed to try this place. Let me just say... This was seriously some of THE best sushi I've ever had! Seriously. Run, do not walk to try it! The fish was so fresh and the tempura was so crunchy. Honestly the prices were really good for the amount of food you get. Any specialty rolls are $12-$20, the roll lit on fire was the most expensive. But then they have your normal cali rolls and shrimp tempura rolls for $5-$7. I started with the pot stickers and the crab rangoons. For sushi I got the sunset roll and the crunchy roll but they will make any combo of roll you want! Just ask. The waitress was so helpful and gave us so many good recommendations; I'm already planning my trip back to try something else! read more

I was really surprised by this little gem. I'm always searching for unique sushi and after living in the Miami then Ft. Lauderdale areas for 9 years I certainly didn't think I'd have a great sushi experience in this area, but we did tonight. My fiancé and I started with an OMG roll and a kakashu roll (both good). Then, at our servers suggestion, a supaishī hamachi roll and a special roll they had tonight called black widow roll. Both were amazing, perfectly balanced. We enjoyed or meal so much we got a gift card for his daughter and her husband for Christmas. Im pretty sure we'll be back next time we visit. read more

Really disappointing night. I will start with the positive. The food is always good here. I complimented the chef George on "awesome" food. I then followed up with "not awesome" 1hr wait for my food. The discouraging part was that I arrived at 5:05, 5 minutes after they opened, sat, ordered and didn't get my food til 6:05. I get it, I come with a party of 5, 3 young kids so I do the right thing and sit outside so not to disturb the other patrons. Thought I was doing the right thing. Then I found it odd that a family that walked in after us, ordered to go, received their food outside, sat there and ate it and finished before we even got our food. Not great, not great... when I went in to check on our order, I saw at least 10 to go orders in a line on the bar. It doesn't seem fair to serve those customers first when they are not contributing to the drink service, the bar service, at the desert service. I wanted not to tip the server well however I knew it was not up to her. She was so unexperienced that when I went to politely check up on our food to her, she was nice however didn't realize how annoyed I was getting. All in all, the food is good. The sauces are homemade. The chef seems like a good guy. However, if you're looking for good service in a timely fashion, I would skip this place. I would almost rather go to a more pretentious sushi place than deal with poor service. read more

Definitely the worse sushi I've ever had. The quality was terrible. Ordered a chirashi bowl it was served in a small bowl (like a soup bowl). No where on the menu says their fish was covered in seasoning/sauce. I was expecting just raw fish over rice. The sashimi platter says a variety of chef's fish selection, there was only 3 different type. I was expecting more for a variety. It was the same fish from chirashi bowl (seasoned sashimi) on the platter. Couldn't have fooled me. The service was fast and great. Their sushi definitely is comparable to grocery store sushi. If you need fast causal or take out this might be ok. But if you are wanting good quality fish, I definitely wouldn't recommend this place. read more

Fantastic Sushi. As a west coaster who has eaten sushi up and down the west coast (and Hawaii), I feel confident that we "know" sushi. Since moving to Florida, we have been to several places in the area. Some good, some extremely forgettable. But this is by far, our favorite place. The sushi was fresh. The rolls were diverse, but not crazy. The staff was friendly. The sushi chefs were engaged. And the bill was reasonable (for sushi ) And the ambiance was good - with nice background music (vs in your face Japanese tekno) Can't wait to come back! read more

Food & Service wasn't bad, just unimpressive. Server had an attitude. Definitely not my first choice for a romantic /fine dining restaurant, just a better option than Tijuana Flats next door. Felt like a hole in a wall Chinese takeout place, turned sushi. Atmosphere was sub par for a date, there were loud families with kids seated right next to us. That aside, it felt like the tables were too close together to begin with. As a self-proclaimed sushi snob connoisseur, I can name 5 sushi restaurants better than this one. Sushi pop, Edoboy, Kadence, Kabooki, Mikado, all come before this place in service, food, and atmosphere. Domu & Tori Tori also really great non-sushi, Japanese restaurants/bars. These are all within a 45 min drive of this restaurant and worth the time and gas/spent. What's crazy is that I felt like my money is better spent in gas driving, than it would be compromise on what sushi should be. read more
