Well... had to do the smog check thing with my Tacoma. I guess it's good for the environment. I'm not so sure with how good cars/trucks/gas are these days that it's still needed. But I'm old enough to remember really bad exhaust pollution and it's one thing that has actually improved over the years. I appreciate and support that. I decided to see if there was a place nearby that could smog check my car during my lunch break. I called to check how long it would take and what the price was, they guaranteed it'd be done in 20 minutes (they finished faster than that) and even reminded me about their Yelp coupon to save me $10. The best part: they had a sweet COVERED patio area to sit and wait while the car was serviced. Choosing where to get my car smogged was a challenge, as the last time, the Smog person 'jimmied' something so I wa told to go to the garage across the street, who told me they could not fix it, and to take it to my regular mechanic, which I did ~ and paid for the repair but not for the truth of how it occurred. So based on a friend's suggestion and seeing the Yelp reviews, I went to the HILL SMOG TEST ONLY site and EVERYTHING WAS DONE CORRECTLY, QUICKLY, and PLEASANTLY! I have not been able to take the time to get the car washed ~ to offer a better impression ~ but nonetheless, the fellow who handled my need for the Smog Cert was Kind, Careful, Cordial, and polite ~ very much knew WELL what needed to be done and was willing and careful to do it properly. I was prepared to wait, but didn't have to wait at all ~ barely had time to read the thoughtful book that was on the table next to the chair where I waited. Friendly and courteous service. Didn't feel disrespected or condescended to for being a woman. Mike is fast, direct and nice. I was in and out in about 30 minutes. I wish all my appointments were this efficient, down-to-business and trouble-free. The only issue is that the work they did on my car dislodged one of the wires to the car battery, so I couldn't start my car when I tried to go home from work the same day. I had to call AAA and they reconnected it. Rev.--the wire becoming dislodged from my visit to Hill Smog Test Only became a chronic problem and I used up all my AAA "free" roadside assistance offers dealing with it. This has never happened before after other car service jobs. I can only conclude that they need to be more careful. read more

I went here after reading the other 5 star reviews AND it is 2 blocks away from where I live...perfect. This was the first smog check of my life. I shipped my beloved car all the way from Hawaii where there is no such thing as a smog check. I was nervous I would fail since my car is 16 years old (but still GREAT!!!) but I did pass. The guy mentioned in the other review, Shant, was the one who helped me. I just pulled up (after missing the entrance and going around the block) parked and said "Hi, I need a smog check and I've never done this before!" He was very nice and explained the process and the pricing. I waited maybe 15 minutes, paid and left! One down side was the waiting area. It's all outdoors under a tent thing which was pretty uncomfortably hot in late August. But..if I ever need to do one of these again, I would definitely go back! They share a driveway with a mechanic shop right next door (north) on Hill so its kinda easy to miss. Easier to see their sign if you are driving south on Hill. read more

I usually go to this place and get all my vehicles smog checked. Today I went and was sorely disappointed. The owner is out I'll and the people pitching in for him are the auto repair shop next door, they are not doing right by the owner I got there a few minutes before the shop was to open. Their driveway was blocked by a car. I was told to pull around to the left of the shop. When I pulled back around another customer had pulled in. I let the person know I was first. He said don't worry. The other customer's vehicle was moved and I was assured I would be taken first. I waited and noticed a different person came and took paperwork from the other customer, essentially making me second. When I brought this to the attention of the guy he said the customers needs would be handled quicker than my needs. The guy didn't find out what my needs consisted of, he just put me off. I found out that the owner of the shop is out ill I have been coming to this shop for many years but I will not return to this shop until the owner returns. read more

I called in at around noon on a Saturday to see if they were open for smog testing and lucky for me they are open to 1pm on Saturdays. They said to come on down and that there was no wait, so I did, and I was done in 15 minutes tops. The service was very professional and friendly and not at all pushy, and the smog test, plus certificate, was $10-$15 less than most places. I'm not from the area but I did a quick DMV website check to make sure they're valid (they are) and I quickly followed that up with a Yelp check. We drove right in on a Saturday afternoon. The traffic of the car wash made me a bit hesitant but I was the only one there for a smog check. The test didn't take any time. 5 stars for that. After my car did not pass the smog check, I was told I had 30 days to get the repair and return for an $11 re-check. However, when I returned and the car passed, I was charged another $40! What a rip off!!! I have been going there for years and this is the first time my car did not pass. I will never go there again and will not recommend using their smog check service. Called them up the day before about a smog check. The gentleman asked me about the make and model of my car and proceeded to quote me a price! I brought my car in the next day and he remembered me!
