Between Aloha Poke, FireFin, and High Tide Poke, my favorite is still Aloha Poke in the French Market (FireFin is second out of the three choices). The tuna there tastes very fresh and mixes well with all the ingredients that come with the bowl, and you get the option to add a ton of different ingredients. I got the Ahi Tuna bowl here, which was a bit sub-par. The rice was almost rock hard and cold, the tuna didn't taste as fresh as Aloha Poké, and the ingredients didn't seem to mix that well together. The mango was probably my favorite part and tasted the freshest. The restaurant is located in the heart of an office building, so there's no store front on the street. It's a very open space though and has plenty of seats. I like the modern, trendy ambiance. Service was okay. It seems like they liked regular customers more than MealPal pick-up customers. Guess it's back to Aloha Poke! read more

I tried their ahi tuna and salmon supreme via mealpal for lunch. It was day 1 of my plan so I was curious about how it would turn out. Ease: 5/5 got to walk to to the register, give them my name, and go. I didn't need to show them the email confirmation Portion: Average but very filling. Taste: 2/5 Not sure if this is applicable to non-mealpal meals but the fish wasn't very fresh. The rest of the ingredients were though. It was unique of them to include kale, shredded beets, daikon, and carrots. Avocado, dried nori, seaweed, edamame, etc are fairly standard at other places. My base was sticky rice but they have a zucchini noodle or quinoa base for non-mealpal customers. They had an assortment of beverages and snacks that may be worthy of trying. Overall: I won't be reordering Hide Tide Poke on mealpal anytime soon. I've had better poke bowls in Chicago. If I get bored of the other food options, I may give it a chance to redeem itself. read more

They forget stuff. Consistently. They forgot my boss's order on two separate occasions! This makes me look really bad and no one wants the boss to get hangry. The topping options are nice, the fact that they offer zucchini noodles as a base is awesome, but something about their marinade or some of their toppings are REALLY salty. The fish is really fatty too, it has an un-chewable texture to many of the pieces that I end up spitting out. I'm a big eater and I usually don't end up finishing my bowls here for one reason or another. They are big portions, but it is usually due to overpowering, unpleasant flavors or textures. My coworkers and I used to go to High Tide Poke on a regular basis because it was close in proximity to our office, they had an online order feature and their poke was good! Somewhere between 2018 and 2019, I noticed the fish cubes were cut sloppier, the rice servings got much bigger, and they started giving me bowls that were missing ingredients I ordered, or totally swapped out and ingredient for another. I felt inclined to review because yesterday, I ordered a bowl. I was craving poke and I was hoping they may have turned a new leaf over COVID. I ordered a Build Your Own Bowl with white rice, marinated tuna and salmon, extra meat, avocado, dried seaweed, edamame, maui onion, fried onion, cucumber, and sweet soy sauce. I also noticed that their sauce options got narrowed down to only three options. What I got was a bowl filled 3/4" of the way with rice (I track macros and it must have been at least 3 cups of rice), marinated tuna, NO salmon, NO extra meat, SEAWEED SALAD, NO dried seaweed. While I've always kept them in the back of my mind, I don't think I'll be going back any time soon. They've burned me too many times. read more

Well, poke it up a notch! Soft opening today private event ...and I'm supremely satisfied. Enjoyed the "Salmon & Ahi Supreme" bowl, which is: marinated salmon and ahi, edamame, carrot, beet, daikon, kale, pickled ginger, seaweed salad, sesame soy, spicy mayo, carrot ginger, sesame seeds and dried seaweed. I've had my share of poke bowls and always been disappointed with the amount of actual fish in the bowl. It's thankfully different here. There's poke in my poke bowl! Also, everything is gluten, nut, dairy free and "artificial-free." The fish is sourced "sustainably and responsibly." If you know Ronny's across the street, this is Ronny Jr.'s venture and he was busy behind the counter, making certain everything was running smoothly. The Tide is High! (Cue Blondie music.) With the addition of High Tide Poke in the Loop, there are now 3 different places to get poke'd in a four-block radius of my office. And I have to say, High Tide is the best of the burgeoning bunch to get your fresh-fish fix. At HTP, you can get two different sized bowls, or a wrap. They have more choices in your base ingredient than the other 2 places; in addition to rice or mixed greens, you can also get zucchini noodles or quinoa. The fish is your typical sushi-grade tuna or salmon, which you can also get marinated. Other options include shrimp, crab, chicken, or tofu.They also seem to have a larger variety of add-ins--we're talking fresh tangerine, cilantro, basil, mango, spinach, kale, and lots more. Some additions are extra, like avocado or shiitake mushrooms. I loved the mushrooms--such a wonderful burst of umami! I agree with my pal Bonnie--they definitely don't skimp on the fish. I would have been plenty full with the smaller size bowl, but as usual, my eyes were bigger than my stomach. They also sell power bowls, fresh juices and smoothies, craft beverages (get the ginger-mint lemonade!), and fun desserts like rice pudding pots, house-dipped rice cakes, and house-crafted frosty pops. I can't wait to try one of those watermelon-lime pops! The location is so bright and cheery; it doesn't feel like the lobby of an office building at all. There's a good amount of seating, and you can also call ahead for carry-out. I'm beyond thrilled to have High Tide Poke in my work neighborhood. Love this spot! If your coming here for lunch or a work lunch meeting this place is designed just for that! It is settled right on the first floor of a corporate building square, almost like a food court. The service is quick and efficient and the selections are phenomenal. I will say I can get full off of this poké with the "Big Bowl" You can choose from recommended poké options or you can make your own!. Did i mention you can make your own bowl! Yes, you can "have it your way" and thats the best part. They can even toss your bowl for you , so all of the flavors, sauces, and toppings can meld together. YUM!! But thats not all they also have other healthy options like salads, smooties, and pressed juices. The carrot, apple, ginger juice is my favorite. The service is like any other order, pay, eat facility; quick and to the point. High Tide can be found in a bright, clean, expansive space, with lots of seating. It joins a long list of other poke places that have opened in the loop in the past year or so. But one thing I noticed that was not offered at the others (at least at the time I went) is zucchini noodles as a base. Needless to say, I was intrigued, and decided to get the salmon+ahi supreme bowl with the zucchini noodles. They were definitely tasty, but ended up making the bowl a little watery. The rest of the ingredients went well together, but the ginger was roughly cut and tough. So overall, just an ok experience at High Tide. I probably won't visit again since Firefin, Aloha, and Poke Poke are still top of my list (in that order). That poke competition is fierce yo! read more

This is definitely the worst poke bowl I've ever had....including grocery store poke bowls. I got the Malibu Crab bowl. There's more crab meat in a California roll than this bowl. The handful of raw onion threw me for a loop, and the crispy onion was disgusting and just a huge ball of this chewy thing. Two star rating goes to decent brown rice and the decent sauces that saved it. I would say just avoid this place all together and go get chicken nuggets at the McDonald's next door read more

I've been here twice now and it's been great both times. The food and experience with the staff. It's definitely one of the better poke places I've had thus far. It might be personal preference, but I like that they mix all the ingredients together before serving it up. Some people like the toppings layered and I enjoy that as well but some places pack the food into such small containers it's hard to eat afterwards. Here you can enjoy the full flavor of the bowl in every bite. That's huge! The staff is fantastic too. I've used Ritual to place my orders both times, but I'm ridiculous and will use the app while I'm standing right there. When they looked at my order during my first visit, they made suggestions on how to make it even better. I sampled a few sauces and realized my choice were in fact, wack, so I made the suggested changes. The marinated ahi and salmon are both good and the chipotle agave is the winner for me. I thought I wanted to Korean BBQ because it's spicy but nope, no thanks. Add some jalapenos to your bowl AND the house made chili sauce/sriracha equivalent on the side and enjoy! read more

UPDATE: I gave this a second chance when we got free delivery for work. Lowering this to one star. This is just end to end terrible poke and by far the worst in Chicago. Two stars might be generous. I'm not sure I would even call this poke. I got the Ahi Classic which was basically just un-marinated (even though it said it should be marinated, not sure what in) ahi with assorted fruit and avocado that are not a remotely cohesive dish (plus a ton of overpowering raw ginger). Add to that the sticky rice was not sticky and was just clumpy and cold. As others have said, just go to Aloha or last resort Firefin for your poke fix. I imagine that anyone giving this above 2 stars has never had decent poke before. read more

Solid poke spot with good portions! Liked their classic and liked that I got a discount via the Ritual app as it was my first go there. Poke tends to be more expensive than your standard lunch spot. Ample space for seating inside the nice 203 building on LaSalle, which is connected to the CTA and also houses a Dunkin Donuts. Will be back! read more

Too bad zero stars isn't an option. Tried their poke once and the fish just tasted "off". I've talked with others in my office and many have had the same experience. Today I decided I'd give one of their salads a try. The ingredients looked to be fresh but as I looked closer all the lettuce on the bottom was brown. I find it hard to believe it's an accident that the lettuce on top was green but the bottom was brown. Having been a frequent customer of FireFin and Aloha, and having had grocery store poke in Hawaii, High Tide ranks further than last. While I applaud their "attempt" at offering a new variety of toppings, they fall terribly short. I am quite literally in a state of shock that someone would think any of the toppings pair well with raw fish. The marinated mushrooms tasted like they were drenched and soaked in sauce for days, making it inedible. The avocado was more like chunky, watery guacamole. I've had fresh avocado right from my kitchen that had more flavor. If you're going to tout yourself as the hot new poke joint in the area, perhaps you should have tried out FireFin, Aloha, and Pokiology first, to get a true understanding of poke basics. There are certain standards and staple elements that all poke should universally have, a principle that High Tide seems to have overlooked or just flat out turned their nose to. So I got the Salmon & Ahi Supreme in the Bigger Bowl for $15 and change. The verdict - It was delish and I must admit, you get many bursts of flavors, textures, and lots of fish! You won't feel cheated or wish there was more salmon and tuna. As baby bear says, it was just right. If you don't get the rice, it's a meal that's as healthy as hell and a great value. They serve an utterly okay bowl of poké; as others have noted, the rice texture tends toward clumpy instead of fluffy, and don't be surprised if you get a cut or two of fish with an inedible vein of connective tissue. I've visited regularly since they opened, but decided that today was my last visit because my online orders almost always have errors. They've been very polite and responsive when I've emailed about these issues, but their solutions are inconvenient to the customer--making the customer unlikely to actually pursue the method of getting recompense for the store's error. For example, instead of just refunding an item that was mistakenly not included or providing a promo code discount for the next order, you're directed to call or email someone about your next order--adding a cumbersome step to a process that's supposed to make lunch pick-up easier and faster. You seem nice, Sam, but I don't want to call you, get put on hold waiting for you, then chat with you about a discount on my next order--I just want my couple bucks back for my missing avocado and mango. read more
