Açaí Bowl -.-
Ivy M.

I decided to try their açaí bowl. It was literally like a bowl of soup. There was no consistency whatsoever. And all the fruit they put in it was completely frozen. What a waste of $9.

Well, poke it up a notch! Soft opening today private event ...and I'm supremely satisfied. Enjoyed the "Salmon & Ahi Supreme" bowl, which is: marinated salmon and ahi, edamame, carrot, beet, daikon, kale, pickled ginger, seaweed salad, sesame soy, spicy mayo, carrot ginger, sesame seeds and dried seaweed. I've had my share of poke bowls and always been disappointed with the amount of actual fish in the bowl. It's thankfully different here. There's poke in my poke bowl! Also, everything is gluten, nut, dairy free and "artificial-free." The fish is sourced "sustainably and responsibly." If you know Ronny's across the street, this is Ronny Jr.'s venture and he was busy behind the counter, making certain everything was running smoothly. Congrats on your new business and for finally satisfying a fussy poke bowl person! Grand opening is tomorrow, May 24, 2017. PS - banana blueberry smoothie is delicious and next time for sure: the house-crafted "frosty pop"....banana date with cayenne!

The Tide is High! (Cue Blondie music.) With the addition of High Tide Poke in the Loop, there are now 3 different places to get poke'd in a four-block radius of my office. And I have to say, High Tide is the best of the burgeoning bunch to get your fresh-fish fix. At HTP, you can get two different sized bowls, or a wrap. They have more choices in your base ingredient than the other 2 places; in addition to rice or mixed greens, you can also get zucchini noodles or quinoa. The fish is your typical sushi-grade tuna or salmon, which you can also get marinated. Other options include shrimp, crab, chicken, or tofu. They also seem to have a larger variety of add-ins--we're talking fresh tangerine, cilantro, basil, mango, spinach, kale, and lots more. Some additions are extra, like avocado or shiitake mushrooms. I loved the mushrooms--such a wonderful burst of umami! I agree with my pal Bonnie--they definitely don't skimp on the fish. I would have been plenty full with the smaller size bowl, but as usual, my eyes were bigger than my stomach. They also sell power bowls, fresh juices and smoothies, craft beverages (get the ginger-mint lemonade!), and fun desserts like rice pudding pots, house-dipped rice cakes, and house-crafted frosty pops. I can't wait to try one of those watermelon-lime pops! The location is so bright and cheery; it doesn't feel like the lobby of an office building at all. There's a good amount of seating, and you can also call ahead for carry-out. I'm beyond thrilled to have High Tide Poke in my work neighborhood. Definitely gonna be my number one. /end Blondie music

Beautifully constructed bowl! Produce was fresh and the service was great. The menu options seem to have changed and it is totally working in their favor.

Love this spot! If your coming here for lunch or a work lunch meeting this place is designed just for that! It is settled right on the first floor of a corporate building square, almost like a food court. The service is quick and efficient and the selections are phenomenal. I will say I can get full off of this poké with the "Big Bowl" You can choose from recommended poké options or you can make your own!. Did i mention you can make your own bowl! Yes, you can "have it your way" and thats the best part. They can even toss your bowl for you , so all of the flavors, sauces, and toppings can meld together. YUM!! But thats not all they also have other healthy options like salads, smooties, and pressed juices. The carrot, apple, ginger juice is my favorite. The service is like any other order, pay, eat facility; quick and to the point. There is general food court esque seating and there is also a self-service water station for you use especially if you get jalapenos on your poké like me. All it all I believe the food is reasonably prices for the amount of food you get and the selections are great. I will definitely be back.

High Tide can be found in a bright, clean, expansive space, with lots of seating. It joins a long list of other poke places that have opened in the loop in the past year or so. But one thing I noticed that was not offered at the others (at least at the time I went) is zucchini noodles as a base. Needless to say, I was intrigued, and decided to get the salmon+ahi supreme bowl with the zucchini noodles. They were definitely tasty, but ended up making the bowl a little watery. The rest of the ingredients went well together, but the ginger was roughly cut and tough. So overall, just an ok experience at High Tide. I probably won't visit again since Firefin, Aloha, and Poke Poke are still top of my list (in that order). That poke competition is fierce yo!

Fast, fresh poke makes a nice change of pace from the typical lunch fare in the Loop. I've never had fish taste "fishy" and the other half ingredients are bursting with flavor as well.

Ordered Broccoli Brussel Sprout Celery Edamame Sweet Onion Tomato Blue cheese, Crouton -GOT A BOWL OF ROMAINE, not even quality romaine!

I just paid $12.00 for a bowl of light leafed romaine, barely any other of the ingredients I ordered: Veg Choice: Broccoli - `NONE Veg Choice: Brussel Sprout - NONE Veg Choice: Celery- NONE Veg Choice: Edamame 8 beans Veg Choice: Sweet Onion-a few tiny cuts sprinkled Veg Choice: Tomato - 6 cherry tomato halves Cheese: Blue Cheese - none Topper: Gluten-free Crouton - barely any sprinkled crumbs THESE PEOPLE SHOULD BE ASHAMED! When I spoke with the manager he said, "well next time you don't have to order from us."

You know when there's something special in your life High Tide Poke is New & Fresh! Great staff and awesome food - I highly recommend it. The Bowls/Nori Wraps are amazing!!! I love the carrot ginger dressing and the mint ginger lemonade is the BEST! #barNone

Classic Ahi Poke Bowl - $9+ish and very good.

Solid poke spot with good portions! Liked their classic and liked that I got a discount via the Ritual app as it was my first go there. Poke tends to be more expensive than your standard lunch spot. Ample space for seating inside the nice 203 building on LaSalle, which is connected to the CTA and also houses a Dunkin Donuts. Will be back!

The menu is expansive, but I knew that I wanted a poke bowl (versus a ramen or noodle dish). After explaining what I was looking for, and that this was my first time in this establishment, the woman behind the counter patiently guided me through my choices. I went with the Tsukiji bowl on her recommendation. It truly had a little of everything (tuna, salmon, crab salad, edamame, radish, nori, spicy mayo, and more). The ingredients were fresh and the portion was generous for the price. Will definitely be back here when I am craving something out of my normal rotation. Note: this is a cashless establishment.

It's a great option if you're trying to get a balanced meal in, with plenty of protein and veggies depending on how you build it and what sauce you choose. I also appreciated how fast everything was: no line when I went on a Saturday around lunchtime, and I got my food quickly. Highly recommend adding the fried onions. They add a really nice crunch that takes the bowl up a notch. As for the fish, the quality is decent for a poke spot. It's not mind-blowing, but definitely good enough to satisfy a craving. Overall, a convenient, healthy-ish lunch spot that I'd come back to.

Everything tastes incredibly fresh, clean, and well-seasoned -- not overly sauced, not trying too hard, just really solid poke done right. The salmon and spicy tuna were both super tender, and you can tell they don't cut corners on ingredients. I love how customizable the bowls are. So many bases, toppings, and sauces that you can go classic or build something totally different every time. The portions are generous too -- my bowl was packed and actually filling, which doesn't always happen with poke. The toppings bar is a highlight. Crunch, heat, freshness -- you can balance everything exactly how you like it. The mix of textures (crispy onions, cucumbers, creamy sauces) makes every bite different. The space is casual and easy, perfect for a quick lunch, takeout, or something lighter that still feels satisfying. Staff has always been friendly and fast, even when it's busy. If you're into fresh, flavorful food that doesn't leave you feeling heavy, Mammoth Poke absolutely delivers. Definitely a go-to poke spot.

Mammoth Poke is on Western Ave so it was easily to find. Plus the large green and white sign makes it hard to miss. The inside of the restaurant isn't too large, they're setup mainly for to-go orders but they do have some seating. The seating is focused more towards smaller groups which is perfect for solo dining or a party of two. During my visit they had a ton of to-go orders going out so they had ample seating available. This was a plus because I opted to dine-in during my visit. I knew I would like Mammoth Poke because they offer a variety of fresh ingredients that you mix and match. Not only does the ingredients look fresh they tasted delicious! The poke is priced for the area meaning it's a little pricey but I was able to get two meals out of my order (lunch and dinner).

The staff member who helped us was incredibly kind and patient, especially with my sister, and I love the build-your-own bowl concept where you can customize everything to your liking. FYI everything is freshly prepared in-house. I ordered a regular bowl with rice and greens, tuna, spicy tuna, and tofu, then added toppings like kimchi, corn, carrots, ginger, cucumber, onions, and a crunchy topping. They finished it with garlic aioli and another sauce, so good! The garlic aioli was a standout. My mom ordered a similar bowl with tuna, spicy tuna, and cooked shrimp. She was pleasantly surprised by the value and kept saying how much she loved the food. The portions were generous, we even had leftovers to enjoy later. We also tried the spicy miso soup for dinner, and she loved that just as much. My baby sister kept it simple with rice and spam. She said she liked it, but true to her picky nature, she took one bite and that was it. Overall, a fantastic experience with fresh ingredients, great service, and generous portions. Highly recommend! Granted the last time I went here was in 2019 to their old location just a few blocks up on Lincoln Avenue but it seems they got a corporate makeover after shutting down during the pandemic and rebranding. Maybe they have a new owner...? It's much more spacious and brighter with Herman Miller stool seats, a pinball machine and high ceilings. But with all of these new trendy upgrades it has lost its cozy, relaxing small business neighborhood vibe the old location had IMO. They added bubble tea and Mochi donuts to their menu. They also were playing rap & trap music and I honestly thought I had walked into the wrong place when I went in. Gone are the guys busy behind the counter. You order via an ordering kiosk (they seem to be popular with places cutting down on staff) made by one person behind the counter. My order was made quickly but I'm not really sure about the kiosk ordering system since you need to input your phone number. I ordered my favorite bowl of theirs, Jimmy's Creation. The first time I tried it in 2018 it was so good I nearly skipped out of the place and wanted to eat here everyday. It's still good but the rice is much more sticky, a little too sticky for my liking since I had to break it up into chunks with my chopsticks. The sauce was a bit too sweat also. Was it always this sweat...? A minor issue though based on preference I guess. I would probably return again but probably not go out of my way and trek through a snow storm like I did once years ago.

There's a large number of ingredients and sauces that don't always taste the best together. I did appreciate the menu with steps to orde. It helped my husband who doesn't get poke as often to decide. My 2 cents: a preset poke bowl menu and pictures might help the ordering go more smoothly. The Tuna and Salmon were good, the shrimp was miniscule. Sushi rice was delicious and overall it felt like a nice healthy and fresh meal. Poke is overall expensive so portions were on par with other locations. I think its the lack of marinating the protein or sauces that are lacking in flavor. There was a variety of texture but no saltiness or spiciness or umami flavoring to offset the blandness or the veggies and protein. Interestingly enough, the spam musubi was one of the best I've had in a while. I loved the egg addition to the 2 slices of spam and warm rice. I would return for several spam musubis and if I'm craving something lighter to eat.
