I made an appointment for 8:00. Arrived on time to watch the owner and his staff argue about who was to move my car. I moved it myself. I sat around for 45 minutes to watch them argue. Customer Service: I recently took my 2015 Honda Civic for a smog service. This shop was recommended by a AAA staff. I attempted to make an appointment via the phone, but no one answered which prompted me to go in person. Staff is friendly and helpful. I was able to get my car service on a walk-in which doesn't happen often. My first smog test failed due to an air leak hose being defective. The technicians quoted the part that needed to be replaced and showed me where in my car the defective part was leaking air from. I had my Honda Civic serviced the following week because the part had to be ordered. The part was replaced and second smog test was ran and passed the smog test. The car service took less than an hour and I was in and out of the shop. Quality: Excellent quality service. It has been a week since I drove my car, and I noticed that it runs smoother after part was replaced. Prior to work being done on the Honda Civic the car would halt for a second before taking off. Price: Affordable. Cost of Smog Service Check & Labor Fee : Total $41.75 . I had a $10 discount which was applied on my first service for a total of $31.75. Second Service: Smog Test and Labor on Vehicle total : $117.09. I will definitely come back for a smog service! I forgot to mention their seating area is small but the AC is running cold so you might want to take a sweater if your are going to wait inside. read more

Something people should know about this place is that it changed ownership within the past couple of years. All of those five star reviews prior to then are for the previous owners. The current owner is extremely unprofessional and insofar as he was able to help me with my particular vehicle, incompetent. There was no procedure for signing an authorization for performing an initial inspection nor was there any follow up phone call informing me of any issues that need to be addressed. He kept my vehicle for several days and I had to call him every time to find out the status of my vehicle. If you have a newer vehicle that is likely to pass smog without any issues then you probably won't have any problems. During the times I was at the shop there seemed to be a steady amount of vehicles coming through. However, if you have anything out of the ordinary such as a pre-OBD vehicle then I would highly recommend against coming here. The guy jerked me around from the Tuesday when I dropped off the vehicle until Friday when I finally went in to take it back because after all that time he was unable to get it to pass smog. Fortunately, I was able to take it to a different place that same day, a much better place by Arby's where the guy who took it in told me that it looked like the previous mechanic had gone on a wild goose chase trying to fix the problem. This new guy was able to get my vehicle to pass smog after two hours of fixing the mess the previous mechanic caused. Took my Yukon in for a smog check and was ripped off..first charge was for $285.00 and told to wait for system to clear and I would get Certificate ..a week later my engine light came on and they charged $150 just to look at the codes and tell me something else was wrong with another sensor so I'm out over $400.00 and no smog certificate .. High Tech Auto is THE place to go for your smog inspection. If I lived far away, I would make the journey here to get smog inspection whenever it was due. The owner is super helpful and provides advice for upkeep to ensure that you will pass inspection, if your car is capable, LOL. It's easy to get in, and quick once you have the service. The prices are reasonable and there is a nice waiting area. I recently had a vehicle that I knew had a bad catalytic converter and needed to "fail" a smog before I could turn it into the State's "junk car" program. I was assisted with it, and he didn't bat an eye that I wasn't coming in for a "regular" smog with a DMV letter and all. Can't think of any "cons" of coming here, just all positives. read more

My car needed a smog check, and I noticed that High Tech Auto was repeatedly recommended in a group on Facebook, on Nextdoor and on Yelp. I was looking for a place a bit more affordable than where I had gone before. High Tech Auto was great. They are very friendly, have a nice, clean waiting room with plenty of chairs which was important to me due to some pain issues, and I had downloaded a $10 off coupon as a first-time customer which they happily accepted. I did try calling to make an appointment a few days ago and left a voicemail, but hadn't heard back. Super easy and simple process start to finish. I needed a smog check for my registration and found them on Yelp. I called on a Tuesday afternoon to see if I needed an appointment, they said they can do that but that it wasn't necessary if I was looking to get it done that afternoon. I said I'd be there in 15 minutes and they were ready for me. I don't think I was there longer than 10 minutes total and was all set. $50 total out the door with certificate submitted for a 2015 CR-V. I asked him questions about my SUV outside of why I was planning on bringing it in. When I was there, he did me a solid and checked my brakes on top of doing a Smog test, and helped me out with suggestions on how to proceed.
