Smog check was easy, service was fast and reliable. Leon knows a lot about the industry and is highly recommended especially for high end vehicles. read more

Great place to get a smog check. Leon the owner is very friendly. I was in and out quickly and the experience went smoothly. No long wait, no hassle. read more

I've been coming to High Tech for years for my smog checks, and the new owner, Leon, is every bit as professional as Matt was. I left a voicemail and he returned my call within a reasonable time, then fit me in the very next day. They were busy when I arrived, but another customer waiting was friendly, so chatting made the time pass quickly. Later, when I looked over my invoice, I saw that Leon had given me a discount--a completely unexpected and pleasant surprise. I'll continue bringing my car to High Tech, and I'm glad to see the business in the hands of someone just as pleasant and easy to work with as the previous owner. read more

To keep it short & sweet: DON'T buy a Suzuki SX4 (you probably don't even know what that is & I can assure you you're not missing out) DO take your car here They don't try to take advantage of you, even if they think/know you don't know jack about cars. They also don't do just what's asked or needed; they go above & beyond Shout out to Leon read more

I made an appointment for 8:00. Arrived on time to watch the owner and his staff argue about who was to move my car. I moved it myself. I sat around for 45 minutes to watch them argue. I finally drove off! I was the only woman there for service. The owner passed me up repeatedly to service men! I would NEVER recommend this company to anyone! read more

I used High Tech Auto for my smog check after a referral from friends. I was so impressed with the personable and professional service provided. The process went very quickly. Very comfortable waiting area and I was given a "first time customer discount". I will definitely be returning! read more

Customer Service: I recently took my 2015 Honda Civic for a smog service. This shop was recommended by a AAA staff. I attempted to make an appointment via the phone, but no one answered which prompted me to go in person. Staff is friendly and helpful. I was able to get my car service on a walk-in which doesn't happen often. My first smog test failed due to an air leak hose being defective. The technicians quoted the part that needed to be replaced and showed me where in my car the defective part was leaking air from. I had my Honda Civic serviced the following week because the part had to be ordered. The part was replaced and second smog test was ran and passed the smog test. The car service took less than an hour and I was in and out of the shop. Quality: Excellent quality service. It has been a week since I drove my car, and I noticed that it runs smoother after part was replaced. Prior to work being done on the Honda Civic the car would halt for a second before taking off. Price: Affordable. Cost of Smog Service Check & Labor Fee : Total $41.75 . I had a $10 discount which was applied on my first service for a total of $31.75. Second Service: Smog Test and Labor on Vehicle total : $117.09. I will definitely come back for a smog service! I forgot to mention their seating area is small but the AC is running cold so you might want to take a sweater if your are going to wait inside. read more

Fast, high quality service at a good price. Would definitely come here for smog testing again.

Took my Yukon in for a smog check and was ripped off..first charge was for $285.00 and told to wait for system to clear and I would get Certificate ..a week later my engine light came on and they charged $150 just to look at the codes and tell me something else was wrong with another sensor so I'm out over $400.00 and no smog certificate .. I got away from these people..the old owner was honest these new guys are con artists. Stay Away from High Tech read more

Something people should know about this place is that it changed ownership within the past couple of years. All of those five star reviews prior to then are for the previous owners. The current owner is extremely unprofessional and insofar as he was able to help me with my particular vehicle, incompetent. There was no procedure for signing an authorization for performing an initial inspection nor was there any follow up phone call informing me of any issues that need to be addressed. He kept my vehicle for several days and I had to call him every time to find out the status of my vehicle. If you have a newer vehicle that is likely to pass smog without any issues then you probably won't have any problems. During the times I was at the shop there seemed to be a steady amount of vehicles coming through. However, if you have anything out of the ordinary such as a pre-OBD vehicle then I would highly recommend against coming here. The guy jerked me around from the Tuesday when I dropped off the vehicle until Friday when I finally went in to take it back because after all that time he was unable to get it to pass smog. Fortunately, I was able to take it to a different place that same day, a much better place by Arby's where the guy who took it in told me that it looked like the previous mechanic had gone on a wild goose chase trying to fix the problem. This new guy was able to get my vehicle to pass smog after two hours of fixing the mess the previous mechanic caused. There's more to the story which includes more damning information but I won't include it here unless the owner responds to this post and disputes my claims. I have the receipts. read more

I get my truck here every time I need my smog test done. One more time again this year makes 8 years total. These guys couldn't get their equipment to work so I had to go to So Cal Smog to get truck smogged. Found a new place to go! read more

High Tech Auto is THE place to go for your smog inspection. If I lived far away, I would make the journey here to get smog inspection whenever it was due. The owner is super helpful and provides advice for upkeep to ensure that you will pass inspection, if your car is capable, LOL. It's easy to get in, and quick once you have the service. The prices are reasonable and there is a nice waiting area. I recently had a vehicle that I knew had a bad catalytic converter and needed to "fail" a smog before I could turn it into the State's "junk car" program. I was assisted with it, and he didn't bat an eye that I wasn't coming in for a "regular" smog with a DMV letter and all. Can't think of any "cons" of coming here, just all positives. read more

I've been getting my smog checks here for the last 3 years. They are great! Great service and great customer service. Highly recommend.

We take both our cars here whenever we need a smog check. Super courteous and efficient and easy to get an appointment.

Great experience!! First time here and was recommended by AAA insurance and now I know why. They are very friendly and helpful. I was in and out in 20min and paid a very reasonable price. I highly recommend high tech auto to anyone! read more

Always the best service in town, that's why we've been returning customers for many years! It's quick and easy best place by far‼

Fast and reasonable pricing for smog check. I needed to get a smog check in order to get my registration renewed and I needed it quick! My registration was due the next day... yes, yes, I may have waited a bit too long. Anyway, AAA recommended that I go here and gave me a $10 off for first time customers coupon. I didn't have an appt but he took me anyway and I was in and out pretty quick. Definitely recommend! Seems like all the reviews are accurate! read more

Had my car smogged by Matt this year, and will be back with my other car next year. He was super friendly and had me out of there quickly.

Recommended to me by my former and current mechanic shop. It is now a drive for me to get there but worth it as they're a reputable shop and honest. It was easy to make an appointment. The shop and bathroom are clean and the waiting room is comfortable. This is a family business passed down to a younger generation which has kept up a high level of customer service. read more

Honest! Great service and friendly employees! I have been coming here for years and have never had an issue. I highly recommend High Tech Auto for your smog check read more

My car needed a smog check, and I noticed that High Tech Auto was repeatedly recommended in a group on Facebook, on Nextdoor and on Yelp. I was looking for a place a bit more affordable than where I had gone before. High Tech Auto was great. They are very friendly, have a nice, clean waiting room with plenty of chairs which was important to me due to some pain issues, and I had downloaded a $10 off coupon as a first-time customer which they happily accepted. I did try calling to make an appointment a few days ago and left a voicemail, but hadn't heard back. So I drove over today and they got me in and out in less than 30 minutes even with others already there. This was a longer drive for me than where I've gone before but definitely worth it. read more

Super easy and simple process start to finish. I needed a smog check for my registration and found them on Yelp. I called on a Tuesday afternoon to see if I needed an appointment, they said they can do that but that it wasn't necessary if I was looking to get it done that afternoon. I said I'd be there in 15 minutes and they were ready for me. I don't think I was there longer than 10 minutes total and was all set. $50 total out the door with certificate submitted for a 2015 CR-V. This is supposed to be a relatively simple process and they nailed it. Everyone seemed polite and pleasant. Next time I won't bother looking up anyone else; I'll just be heading here. read more

Nice guys, great price. No hassle smog check.

Have brought cars in here for years. As a fromer small business owner who dealt with the public, I appreciate how Mark treats his customers and how quickly he gets my cars in and out, and at a very reasonble price. read more

Came here for a smog check and the staff was fast and friendly. Decent price as well compared to others in the area! 10/10 recommend!

A no frills shop with excellent work. Great location, fast & reliable service, no hassles. I was in and out of his shop in 45 minutes.

Matt at High Tech Auto was amazing!! I called to see if they would still be open when I got off work and he was getting ready to close but found time to fit me in. He was SO HELPFUL and had me in and out in no time. This was my first time coming here and I can say without a doubt I will be coming back just for the customer service and attention to detail. Also, little side note while I was waiting I got to talking with Luz ( I hope that's how you spell her name) from the office and she is a dynamo! She was so sweet and helpful. This place feels like family and that is hard to find these days! Thank you High Tech Auto!! read more

We have been getting our vehicles smogged here for years now and have always had great service. Most days they can get you in the same day and you're in and out of there within 20 minutes. They also train/certify new technicians so they definitely know what they're doing. read more

If you are not concerned with high repair costs and extremely long waiting times to pick up your vehicle, then High Tech Auto Care is definitely the place for you. It cost me $2,500 and took 5 weeks to fix a timing belt on my car! read more

I came in for a smog and felt well taken care of. As a lady who knows very little about cars, I felt totally comfortable going in for what I knew I needed. They did not try to sell me on anything my car did not need. The gentleman was even nice enough to put air in my tires after noticing that the pressure was unequal. I would 100% recommend High Tech Auto to anyone looking for someone honest and reliable. read more

Glad to have found High Tech Auto to get my car smogged - I was in and out in 30 minutes and Matthew was pleasant and efficient. After trying 3 other smog places, each with chaotic environment and rude personnel, it was a relief to sit down and watch a little tv in the air conditioned, clean waiting area. I highly recommend starting with High Tech Auto! read more

I have done business with another smog outfit in San Marcos for years, and after trying to continue to do business with them and being treated with absolute disdain, decided to take my business elsewhere. Dennis at Allen's Wrench (where I take both of my Toyotas-absolutely the best in town) recommended I take my Rav4 to High Tech Auto. I have found my new smog go-to business. Matt is super easy going and professional, and treated me like family. Don't even think of going anywhere else to get your car smogged. I made an appointment and was in and out in 20 minutes. Thanks again Matt! read more

Called to make an appointment to get my car smog. Spoke to Matt. He had a opening same day and said come on down. Got there in 10 minutes. Only took 15 minutes for my smog test. He was so kind. Waiting area was clean and comfortable. Thank you Matt. This is now my smog place. Sue read more

Funny music for all these guys to listen to. Too much awkward office drama leaking into my ears. Creepy stares from the guy behind the computer. Felt unwelcome by everyone except the sweet middle aged lady. read more

I found these guys on Yelp. The reviews don't do them justice. When I called, Matt was extremely polite over the phone. I asked him questions about my SUV outside of why I was planning on bringing it in. When I was there, he did me a solid and checked my brakes on top of doing a Smog test, and helped me out with suggestions on how to proceed. I strongly suggest these guys....they are fair, educated and very down to earth! read more

My manager suggested this place because we get our company vehicles smogged here and I am so glad he did! They were so nice and made the process so much easier than I expected. The waiting room is small, but comfortable. I love that they have books in the lobby to read as well! I had never had my car smogged so they took the time to tell me how often I needed to have it done, etc. Even when I didn't have all the dmv paperwork (I had no idea I needed anything) they were still able to take care of me. I will absolutely send everyone I know their way! Thank you so much for all your help and I will see you guys next time I need my car smogged! read more
