We rented one of their private karaoke rooms and I would definitely say it was quite fun. It was a small room with standard lighting, however, I'd say it would sit 4-5 people comfortably. The karaoke experience itself was pretty good; the rooms were noise-cancelling enough as to not annoy the guests in the lounge area and the machines were very good with a clean user interface. I love the relaxed atmosphere of this place -- definitely perfect to sing your heart out! The audio was good and provided crisp microphone vocals and the surround sound speakers were amazing. One of the let-downs overall was mostly with the food and drinks; personally, I did not enjoy any of them and found them to be quite overpriced. We ordered the Sweet Potato Fries, the Lychee Cocktail, Chicken Stew with Rice, Takoyaki, Pina Colada (and others). Overall, I felt that all of them were quite bland in terms of flavour. The beverages could have contained more acidity or some element of flavour that makes it a little bit more interesting. As for the food, I did not particularly enjoy the presentation nor was the taste any better. The chicken dish which I acquired was very plain and boring, I honestly expected better for the price-tag it had. The only dish I ordered that was decent was the Takoyaki which was surprising. Overall, I like this place and I would definitely recommend coming here for karaoke with friends. Their casual service and atmosphere is welcoming and hassle-free. The whole experience was smooth and I enjoyed the private room which we had. I am just very, very disappointed about the quality of their food and custom beverages.

We reserved 2 hours karaoke, but as we arrived, a member of our group had a family emergency and could no longer attend. Before we started the karaoke session, we tried to negotiate with the staff to sing for 1 hour instead of the originally intended 2 hours. The staff did not allow it and required us to pay for 2 hours of karaoke. It appears there was no room for negotiation, so we just walked away. However, they did not allow us to leave. The girl staff grabbed our arm. The man named P. Minho, who claimed he was the manager, used his body and hands to prevent us from leaving. It was clear he went after my friend because she was a smaller girl. He physically confined her in between two parked cars (a small space of only 1.5 feet) He used his hands to stop her from entering the car. He instructed another male employee to guard us while he drove his car behind us to prevent us from leaving. He then proceeded to sit there and guard us. Unlawful confinement without probable cause is a crime punishable in criminal court. (even without direct bodily force) I warned him twice that I would call the police if he did not stop. He verbally confirmed that he was okay with the police being called. While he was away getting his car to block us in, we quickly ran into our car to call 911. It seems the police talked sense into him because he eventually let us leave, but not before coming to our car to take pictures of us. Soju staff explained their reasoning was that their reservation policy makes customers pay the full amount even upon cancellation. If this were true, then their business operates in bad faith, as we were not made aware of this policy, nor is it written anywhere on their social media, nor do they have a website stating policies. We were completely within our legal rights to walk away Since we did not yet agree to the price/condition of sale, nor were we provided any service or products. He was scared to lose a potential sale. I was scared for our safety and physical well-being. These two are not equal.

The only true karaoke place left in Edmonton!…read more Not a bad place - went the other week (after hotpot next door at King's, totally awesome) with a group of white friends. The English song selection is a bit weird (like one song from a well known artist that somehow made the playlist but you never heard of it) and some of the codes screw up and play songs you don't want. The place could use a good cleaning (spill stains all over the walls - ick - but it is Chinatown) but the rooms are in not bad shape, there's flat screen TVs, the sound is pretty good and the rooms have air conditioning. The mics did screw up sometimes, and the attendant had to come and reset the system once. Drinks are not bad, not unreasonably priced, OK selection, and the attendant was very nice. We went on a Friday night and the place was not busy. Plenty of parking out front, well lit which is nice because the neighbourhood is a bit dodgy. $25/hour for a medium room, which was a good size for our group of 6 people. I would go again! One thing though - they have no ABBA songs! What's karaoke without ABBA? Oh well. Everyone had a good time, and were of the opinion that the English song selection was not bad all things considered.

The rooms are pretty cramped though, so you might not like it if you're claustrophobic. They have a wide music selection, including songs in English, Mandarin, Cantonese, and Korean. You can choose your songs by remote control, rather than penciling in every song you want to sing, which is really annoying. I don't remember how much the bill came to, but that's a good thing because I only tend to remember the overpriced things anyway. I'll probably come back here for some major crooning, since my friends and I love karaoke so much it's lame. And I won't be going for the small rooms, but for the up-to-date selection in songs, and the remote selection system.

I've tried the pizza bread, nachos and both Cajun chicken and grilled cheese sandwiches, all of which were tasty and all of which were in the $6-9 range. The beer is cheap and cold, although I'll never forget the conversation when I first sat down: Waitress: "What'll you have to drink?" Me: "What kind of beers do you have on tap?" Waitress: "Canadian." Me: "I'll have a Canadian." Service here is very good. The ladies who have served me remember my name, and are always warm. Mary in particular is a totally amazing server, and one of my favourite waitresses in the city - I look forward to seeing her every time I go! Make no mistake though, these servers know how rough around the edges their clientele can be, and they don't take crap. I can tell. Karaoke nights are hilarious and just as unpretentious as the rest of the Hawkeye's experience. Go on a Thursday-Saturday night and find out for yourself! I'm always enjoy my visits here; great little spot in downtown Edmonton.

It draws some of the same crowd in as those more popular bars, but it also has a real mix of people filling up the tables and booths. It's a lower-scale place that's part restaurant, part bar. The pizza was surprisingly VERY yummy here! Although they don't have very many beers on tap (I think it was a total of 1), we still had a really fun night with a big group of friends here. Out waitress (I forget her name, but everyone else seemed to know her) was fantastic. She was friendly and attentive (which was very impressive given how busy the place was). I would come by again for the pizza and a beer next time I'm in the mood for a very laid-back evening.

If you like to belt out rowdy tunes in the good company of only friends/ family, this would be a…read moregood venue if you don't have a home large enough or if you didn't want to buy karaoke equipment. This place is randomly placed in the middle of nowhere, but it's easily accessible off whitemud with a good amount of parking. It's on an upper level which I don't believe has wheelchair access. The furniture/decor is dated (think 1989s-1990s) with horizontal blinds, but in decent condition. The rooms are not sound proof, but does muffle out a lot of noise if you are in neighbouring rooms. You can even turn off the lights & let the disco ball create a bar type mood. They have 2 washrooms, no change table, but let's be real, I don't imagine kids coming to this type of late night venue. Rooms can be prebooked & can comfortably hold at least 10 people per room. The only thing is that the karaoke is operated in Korean & so is the remote, so listen carefully to the English instructions from the staff. I have to say the song selection is really up to date which is impressive & the song binders are sorted either by artist name or song title to make it easy to choose. There is a water dispenser, but you need to ask the front desk for cups. I think the owner was the only one running the venue that night, but he was quite responsive. Even came into wipe up our table spills on occasion. There's a decent drink selection at the front desk area & they have lots of soju (Korean alcoholic beverage). You can also order outside food delivery & not only is it allowed, but they supply paper plates & napkins too and let you know when your order has arrived. He also was quite patient too, never rushed us, in fact we stayed until just past 2AM (their closing time on Saturday night). Overall l have to say it's a pretty fun experience & really brings back memories of traveling in Asia, as that was a common thing to do there. It's something different than the bar, but still entertaining & I wouldn't mind going here again.
