It was ladies night, which is every Friday, and they had $4 kokanee's and $2.75 cosmos all night. It is a pretty tiny club but the guys DJ'ing and promoting on Fridays have really great attitudes and amazing energy which is what makes this club worth checking out. They call themselves Heavy Weight Entertainment and are really good at getting everyone pumped up. The music is a mix of hip hop and pop (the usual sounds you will find anywhere you go) but it gets you going. It is located within walking distance of many other bars so that is another plus for people that wanna hit up a bunch of places in one night.

This upscale luxury mega-club venue is a definite must-see for anyone visiting Edmonton. I was surprised at how large the venue was, beautiful decor and good sized dance floor with tables connected to it. Make sure you check out the SHVR ice bar. It's a room with a bar sculpted entirely of ice, 1 of 3 in Canada the server told me! I did not purchase bottle service as there was only two of us, but I did keep an eye out for specifics, as I have been to numerous famous nightclub destinations around the world and am used to the way VIPs are handled. I must say, I was very impressed with the bottle service presentations, treatment and attention to detail at this club. Bottle service guests were showered with confetti, greeted with huge "Happy Birthday" signs waved at their table, as well a posse of beautiful girls holding sparklers and signs with the clients name. I even saw a bottle of champagne being brought out in a LED birthday cake. For a bachelorette party the cocktail waitresses brought out a sign that read "Future Mrs." and spelt the bride's last name, super cool! The MC paid great attention to each and every birthday/stagette in the club, and the club was packed. Reminded me of Vegas, nice touch. Music was an open-format mix of Hip-hop, Top 40, and Electro House. Once the headlining DJ started playing we were EXTREMELY impressed and the energy in the club was crazy. We didn't want to leave. He knew exactly what the crowd wanted and kept us all dancing all night long. Amazing DJ, great VIP treatment and very good over all customer service as well. I even lost my coat check ticket and the girls had no problem finding my jacket and it was returned to me. A+++ goes to ENVY Edmonton Nightclub!

This place is randomly placed in the middle of nowhere, but it's easily accessible off whitemud with a good amount of parking. It's on an upper level which I don't believe has wheelchair access. The furniture/decor is dated (think 1989s-1990s) with horizontal blinds, but in decent condition. The rooms are not sound proof, but does muffle out a lot of noise if you are in neighbouring rooms. You can even turn off the lights & let the disco ball create a bar type mood. They have 2 washrooms, no change table, but let's be real, I don't imagine kids coming to this type of late night venue. Rooms can be prebooked & can comfortably hold at least 10 people per room. The only thing is that the karaoke is operated in Korean & so is the remote, so listen carefully to the English instructions from the staff. I have to say the song selection is really up to date which is impressive & the song binders are sorted either by artist name or song title to make it easy to choose. There is a water dispenser, but you need to ask the front desk for cups. I think the owner was the only one running the venue that night, but he was quite responsive. Even came into wipe up our table spills on occasion. There's a decent drink selection at the front desk area & they have lots of soju (Korean alcoholic beverage). You can also order outside food delivery & not only is it allowed, but they supply paper plates & napkins too and let you know when your order has arrived. He also was quite patient too, never rushed us, in fact we stayed until just past 2AM (their closing time on Saturday night). Overall l have to say it's a pretty fun experience & really brings back memories of traveling in Asia, as that was a common thing to do there. It's something different than the bar, but still entertaining & I wouldn't mind going here again.

I booked a few weeks prior to for one room for all the ladies. We loved the privacy and comfort of the room. We got to scream at the top of our lungs and let's be honest we all did. It's definitely a bit of a pricier night. It's about 25 bucks per person for karaoke and the drinks are not cheap. We paid about 20 for a bottle of soju so by the end of the night, we had a heftier bill. We had a ton of fun though and I would likely come back again for another special occasion night!

I've tried the pizza bread, nachos and both Cajun chicken and grilled cheese sandwiches, all of which were tasty and all of which were in the $6-9 range. The beer is cheap and cold, although I'll never forget the conversation when I first sat down: Waitress: "What'll you have to drink?" Me: "What kind of beers do you have on tap?" Waitress: "Canadian." Me: "I'll have a Canadian." Service here is very good. The ladies who have served me remember my name, and are always warm. Mary in particular is a totally amazing server, and one of my favourite waitresses in the city - I look forward to seeing her every time I go! Make no mistake though, these servers know how rough around the edges their clientele can be, and they don't take crap. I can tell. Karaoke nights are hilarious and just as unpretentious as the rest of the Hawkeye's experience. Go on a Thursday-Saturday night and find out for yourself! Out waitress (I forget her name, but everyone else seemed to know her) was fantastic. She was friendly and attentive (which was very impressive given how busy the place was). I've been to The Winspear a number of times, including getting to perform on stage with my school…read morechoir back in the day. But it had been a while since I'd seen a show there. And then I had tickets for 2 shows just a few weeks from each other. So I figured let's review The Winspear. This concert hall is fantastic in terms of acoustics. I'm sure you've seen other reviews say something similar. There aren't many bad seats, and most of the shows here are concerts so have good sound will be the most important thing imo. The space is beautiful, bathrooms are clean, lots of space in the lobby, coat check is a reasonable $2, and the line for the bar or snacks wasn't to long. The one thing that's a downside is the seating chart, or maybe better to explain it trying to find your seat. The first show I saw (Foil, Arms, & Hog: Skittish) the usher pointed to where my seat was. Sat down and 10 minutes later a man came up and said I was in his seat. No problem, got up, asked another usher where to go. I was further down on the main floor. The second show (1922 film Nosferatu with a live playing of the massive Davis concert organ) my friend and I went were we thought we should sit. We entered on the left doors and there was no usher there. But something didn't feel right so I went to the main doors to ask an usher if we were in the right spot. He pointed to where we were sitting so I went back there. A few minutes later another group of people in that section we were in realized they were in the wrong spot when other people came to their seats. And that group(the ones that had to move) said they were in the section our tickets said. Obviously we were in the wrong spot, so we moved to right seats. So that was confusing with the seats and there isn't anything, other than on the doors to mark what the sections are. The fact that two different ushers at two different shows I've been to told me to go to the wrong seats is a bit frustrating. There is an online interactive map, but I find on a phone it's hard to see and navigate. Maybe have a paper map outside by the doors, especially the ones on the left and right side if no usher is going to be there. That's my one gripe about the Winspear. Other than that both the shows were great. The Winspear is right downtown and the library parkade is nearby. There's also Churchill station nearby, so pretty accessible for transit. I've already got tickets for a third show I'm seeing in a few weeks, so I hopefully I won't get sent to the wrong seats.
