The epic awesome Mural behind the new patio.

I'm really liking the renovations of this local favorite. They've done a fabulous job, in fact it's almost like they knew the pandemic was coming because it's perfectly spaced out, kept very clean and the staff has adapted really well to the new normal. I would've given it five stars -- however, there is a very strange concept they have enacted. Recently they opened up this most fabulous and incredible patio (where the old hotdog company was) ... but what is strange is all the drink prices are double the cost from the inside to the outside - so for example a pint can be as low as $3.75 just like black dog and other cool places on the Avenue but then when you go outside to the patio the exact same pint costs $7.75. Also they only take cash which is very strange especially during a pandemic, as everyone is doing touchless etc. no debit no Mastercard nothing literally pure cash only. But besides touchless factor, people are also on tight budgets so coming up with cash is more difficult then using credit - it is much easier spending wise. How do I know that the patio concept isn't going over as well? Because it's normally half empty -- yesterday was absolutely incredible day & evening and there's like four people on it. Hopefully, they'll correct this oversight before summer ends -- it will be the only way to pay for the exorbitant amount they likely spent making the patio.

They just renovated again. New artwork throughout. And the VLT area now has a bar counter. Older crowd. Happy hour. Starting to serve some food now, so you can't bring in any. They opened up the walls. Music is still great! Blues artists from all over North America. Great for people watching Lost a star for the smaller pints. Haha! Good luck finding parking. This place is a classic.

A Blues dive bar. It's gross in here but I always have a great time. My father in law makes us all go every time he visits Edmonton and it never fails to entertain. Booze is fairly cheap so we were getting the rounds in and had decent service from the bar staff. She remembered our order which was impressive, as the place was packed after the gnr concert. It's had a bit of a reno so the bathrooms are a lot nicer. They still book awesome blues bands from all over and last night it was like a bluesy cabaret show from 'The Good The Bad And The Blues'. The lead guitarist did a solo while walking around dance floor, then up to our seats and got my mother in law to play the guitar. It was awesome!! She had some night! Her high heel strap broke so we ended up on a mission for a stapler and discovered the door that joins blues to the hotel next door. They fixed her shoe! Huzzah! We danced, we drank, we had a blast. Till next year.

Even though I love blues, Blues on Whyte is not my cup of tea. While the music is always great, whenever I was at this club, I couldn't help but wonder why the owner couldn't clean up and spruce up this place a little. There are plenty of tables to seat at, and there is a pool tables area, but everything is extremely worn down and looks millions years old. This place could use a total overhaul. The crowd at Blues on Whyte is made up of relaxed and drunk people who crave some blues. I will stress again that the music played here is fantastic! Nothing makes me feel more at ease and puts me in a good mood than blues, but only if I am enjoying it in clean surroundings while breathing air that is not "soaked" with beer.

What a hoot! I had a smile on my face from the moment we walked in til we left. There's nothing like being time warped into the 1970s and watching old cartoons and advertisements on the TVs while eating your dinner or having a drink. Everything from the color scheme to the light fixtures to the trinkets collected behind the bar screams 1970s, and made for a fun, goofy, comforting nostalgia. We started with drinks at the bar while we waited for a table. They have a good selection of local brews as well as cocktails. Even the names of the drinks made me smile. I got the "dirty shiddy martini." Then we moved to our table in the "rumpus room." The menu is no-frills and straightforward. Not a ton of options, but you're there for a burger! They have vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free options to make everyone happy. We each got a burger Alabama style, split some fries with "flat sauce," and added a giant pickle on a stick for shids and giggles. Delicious, it all hit the spot! Staff is friendly and quick. It will be busy when you go so just enjoy the experience!

Probably the best i had in the city. The Next Act is non descript with the decor. It does have a nice patio if you are able to snag a spot. Our server was prompt and attentive. Food came out quickly despite the full restaurant. This time I tried The Pyro with habanero cream cheese, bacon, crispy onions, jalapeños, and chipotle mayo. Hubby ordered The Critic - smoked cheddar, bacon, caramelized onions, and bbq sauce Our friend ordered The Scout - jack cheese, chimichurri, crispy onions, avocado, and roasted garlic mayo We all chose the fries as a side. It was delicous. And this time the fries were great and not soggy. My burger was delicious. If you like heat, this one is for you. Both other people at the table enjoyed their burger as well. We were luck to slide through the front door 15 minutes before the kitchen closed for the night and order a burger to go. We got the Critic with a side of poutine and scurried back to our hotel room with our secured goods. The burger was amazing and exactly what we needed. The patty was substantial with a great crust against the sweetness of the caramelized onions, all between two pillowy soft buns. The burger was also huge, as it was double the size of what you would get an the golden arches. We got back fast enough that the poutine fries were still crunchy with a curds melted into the thick gravy. So happy that The Next Act was open at our moment of need. Forever grateful.

Their food is 100% vegan, what you might expect to find in a diner or bar, decadent and hearty hearty hearty! If you want healthy, they do have three salad options to choose from. We went with the Buffalo Mac'n'Cheese, Poutine, Chkn Wings and ....oh my ... Deep Fried Oreos. We don't really have vegan Poutine options here in Seattle (if you know of any, please do drop a note in the comments section letting me know where) so it's always a treat going to Canada and comparing the various Poutine options as pretty much every vegan place has their own take. If you haven't been to visit yet, you owe it to yourself to try them out. If you find yourself visiting Edmonton, make a point to visit Whyte Avenue and walk up and down the strip checking out all of the store and most definitely, including The Buckingham in your visit.

I got the Veggie Burger $21.95 with side of bean and corn soup (their main soup). Soup was better than expected if you like beans. Tastes as you would expect. Burger - bottom bun was quite soggy, slaw was very nice. Patty was more mush and just squishes out of the bun. Decent flavor but would have liked it crisper and more solid. They provide Mango Habanero hot sauce which is really cool. Friend got the Bison Burger on Gluten-free bread. She was happy with her burger. I thought it looked funny on a slice of bread instead of a bun. She loved the salad too. My friend tried the grapefruit gelato and said it was fine. I got the Peach Bourbon pie advertised on the "today special" board. Good pie. Good solid crust, peaches inside were tasty, weird jelly filling but wasn't so bad. Not too sweet. Nice ice cream but very small portion. Kicker was the price. $14.50!!! To me that is ridiculous as I can but a WHOLE homemade pie from the farmers market for $25 and this was At Most a quarter of a pie. DISAPPOINTED.
