Tuna Lunch
Betsy M.

My mom and I went here for lunch Friday. We sat in the bar area. The decor and ambiance is amazing in this place! We had a wonderful server. I cannot remember the young lady's name. I had the prohibition punch, which was tasty, my mom had Prosecco. I ordered the lunch tuna. My mom had lobster Rangoon flatbread. The tuna was delicious. The broccolini was sooo garlicky it was spicy and I couldn't eat it. Same with the mashed potatoes. Was like eating a spoonful of horseradish! My mom liked the flatbread but wasn't blown away. Overall, we'd definitely come back for the wonderful service, and try different menu items!

Date night. The restaurant was quite busy on Saturday. The patio was full so we had to sit at the bar. They were very pushy with asking about cocktails and attempting to up sale throughout the meal. The lobster flatbread was very sweet for some reason. Not in a good way. I was left wanting a dipping sauce to cut the sweetness. I ordered the salmon and my boyfriend ordered the prime rib. My boyfriend ordered the macaroni as a side and it was disappointing. The salmon was amazing and cooked perfectly. There was a lemon sauce that was very bitter on its own, but combined perfectly with the meal. Honestly, there is nothing that was exceptional that makes me want to go back.

Came here for a lunch meeting. Not from Ft. Wayne and wasn't overly familiar with the area and when I mapped to it I was wondering if I was going to the right place. Tucked away off to the side, almost "hiding" was the hideout! It is a newer modern building, totally out of place from the rest of the area. It has sleek signage and big contemporary doors. Once you enter you feel like you are in a speakeasy, very much a vibe. Good music playing, hostess dressed in black dresses, very much a Chicago type feel. We had reservation and were sat right away. If you go right, you go into the restaurant area and if you go left you walk into big doors that are the speak easy which is where we sat. Very nice modern room, book shelves, comfortable booths, very old school steakhouse feel. I LOVED IT Our sever was nice, and offered suggestions. While I didn't go with her suggestion, I opted for the steak salad and I'm glad I did. It was SOOOOOOO good! A good healthy steak portion with potatoes, asparagus, onion, blue cheese and I don't know what else but man it was amazing. I don't get to Ft Wayne often but it's pretty much worth the trip just to come here. I would really like to come during dinner to have cocktails. The drink menu looked good too.

We brought our daughter for her birthday and we had filets , salmon and other dishes. They were delicious. My filet was medium rare and it was perfect. Our server Evie was very attentive and looking after us. We had a great time. The atmosphere was very relaxed and quiet with nice background music. Certainly one of our favorite places to celebrate our events. Thank you guys for your hospitality and service!

Hideout 125 (Dupont & Coldwater Roads) - more upscale dinning in the Fort This is my first visit to the new Hideout 125. We really liked dining at the older location. The high level of service, quality food and smaller-more intimate facilities were very attractive. Fast forward to the new location...the same elements still exist along side a much larger venue. The new Hideout 125 is now a standalone building across from the old building. Lots of easy-in-essy out parking. This facility has a large bar, outdoor dining area, a 50 person banquet room, a 14 person meeting room and a large main dining area. The decor is modern with lots of dark wood work and very dim lighting. The environment is very relaxing (no hurried dining), comfortable and welcoming. The team was outstanding on this occasion - very friendly and professional. While the facility is large...you really need to make a reservation. It is difficult to get a prime time dining slot without one. Making an on line reservation is very easy. Hideout 125 is not for everyone. The menu is fairly large and diverse. Most people will find the menu choices to be fairly expensive (see attached menu). The portion sizes are moderately large but not overwhelming. Some entrees come with a small side. Additional sides can be purchased at a higher cost. Here is a review of the food items we ordered: -Lobster flatbread: very lite and flaky crust; sweet chili sauce gives it a fantastic pop; cream cheese pulls the onion and mozzarella together nicely; wonton crispy chips added a nice crunch; good appetizer to share without diliing you up! -House salad: fresh and long leafy greens; lots of side vegetables; decent sized salad - almost could split between two people; delicious homemade honey mustard dressing - sweet, thick, nice mild mustard consistency -Shrimp Torttole: LOTS of large shrimp that are perfectly cooked! Pasta was cooked to a firm but soft texture; cream sauce was thin, lightly spiced and had a very lite cheese taste; refreshing peppers/onion/spinach taste also -Pork Ribeye: cooked perfectly!! Very moist and tender; the brown sauce was smooth, rich, added a meaty beef type taste and accented the pork & mushrooms nicely; the mashed potatoes are real mashed potatoes - firm, thick along with visible peel parts Overall, we enjoyed the dining experience at Hideout 125. It is expensive...so we would opt to dine here on a more special occasion. Fort Wayne is blessed with several nice upscale dining options. You will find the Hideout 125 to be an excellent choice.

We were a party of four on Father's Day during their Father's Day Brunch. It was busy, as you would expect and we found out upon arrival it was their second day in the new location. Our daughter and son-in-law had been to their original location and made the suggestion and we agreed to meet them there. When we arrived, we were confused because the parking lot was empty. It turns out, that on that day, not all of their social media had been updated with the new address. Fortunately, it was a quick one-minute drive (the back of the new location is visible from the other parking lot) to the correct location. We were seated in the bar area. They managed to keep the prohibition flavor with wall size murals and tasteful décor, while at the same time making the space upscale modern. Service was on the slow side but that works very well for brunch and we had plenty to talk about. The food was presented beautifully (sorry no photos). Food was fan worthy across the table with one hiccup. While the Cinnamon French Toast (two orders) and Jumbo Hashbrown came out beautifully, the Chicken & Waffles had to be returned to the kitchen, as the chicken was raw in places. That hiccup was resolved and everything was good when the new dish came out. All said, the food ultimately is fan worthy. We all abstained from adult beverages this time in solidarity with our daughter, who is soon to become a mother. We look forward to trying the adult drinks during a future visit.

Eating in the front area...especially in the open area is really unpleasant. It's loud. The TV's are loud. You can't talk and enjoy the conversation. On this trip...we dinned in the "back" room. What a difference! The noise level was minimal. We asked the waitress to turn down the volume and she did. This allowed us to enjoy our conversation and dinner. Great job done by our waitress Zhoee. She was patient, professional, friendly and very helpful to the older members of our party. She was responsive to the loud speakers we were asked to turn them down. Zhoee kept the refills coming while serving us well!! We started started with the Cuban quesadillas. This is really a MUST try. The meat is very flavorful. The pickled onions and sauce inside the quesadilla are delicious!! I particularly like the house salads. They are very fresh and attractive. Plenty of side veggies and crunchy/boldly garlic flavored croutons. I tried the Thai ginger dressing this time. I loved the mild flavors. You could pick up the hints of peanut sauce and ginger coming through. It is moderate in consistency and delicious! I've never had their Mac & cheese so we gave it a try. A nice thick and creamy white cheese sauce. The cavatappi style noodles were perfectly cooked! The cheese stuck to the noodles beautifully. The cheese sauce was so tasty that you almost wanted to like the bowl. On this trip I went with the wings and dry rub seasoning. Nothing else on the menu appealed to me that visit. I got six small to medium sized wings in this order. The insides were fully white without being tough or dry. The skin was a bit crunchy so I'm sure they were fried. The dry rub has a mild traditional BBQ flavor. The wings were really coated in dry rub. I don't think there was a speck of skin showing through. At times I felt like I was eating more dry rub than chicken. The rub comes off very salty - which I liked. It didn't have an after taste burn - which I also liked. The BBQ was pleasant and flavorful to taste. The volume of rub was just a bit overwhelming - at least to me.

Coyote Creek Bar & Grill (Hillegas Road) - pizza and a patio with a view!…read more We love to dine at the Coyote Creek's patio on a summer's evening. It's a covered patio and over looks the 18th hole (see picture). The cover blocks the sun and allows a cool relaxing breeze to flow in. Very nice! This was actually the first time I have ever tried their pizza. I've been here with others who have ordered pizza and liked it. I was always reluctant to try it because they appear to over cook the crust often. Definitely not this time though! I have included the regular pizza menu. They only have about five specialty pizzas to pick from. Their 16 inch selections will generally run you about $20. On this occasion...the special of the month was a cheeseburger pizza. It sounded good so I gave it a try! The cheeseburger pizza crust was very light and soft with a slightly baked crisp. It has a bit of a floury taste. The inside tended to mimic a biscuit flavor and texture. I liked it. No buttery coating or seasoning. Just some stray cheese pieces. I can't describe their normal tomato based pizza sauce. This pizza came with "special sauce" to accent a cheeseburger flavor. The sauce was light, thin and didn't dominate the taste. I found out they use their homemade 1000 Island dressing for the sauce. It did mimic a McDonald's Big Mac special sauce - just not as zingy. I was concerned that the sauce would grow old fast as I worked on 16 inches of pizza. It did not as it wasn't very strong tasting. There wasn't a lot of ground beef to dominate the taste. There was plenty of mozzarella cheese and some cheddar cheese accents. This gave it a nice gooey pull apart string. The dill pickles were very thin and mild in dill taste. Cold Pizza Test - the crust got only a little tougher while the biscuit flavor stepped forward. It was still moist to taste and easy to pick up and eat/chew. The special sauce and onions also started to come out more as it seemed to marinate a bit more. The rest of the toppings and cheese kind of fell flat in taste when cold. I liked the cold cheeseburger pizza option too! Overall...I loved the view and was glad I tried the cheeseburger pizza.

If love thin crust, then you need to make the trip out to Arena B&G at DuPont & Lima Roads. Arena does have a very good thin crust pizza. The crust is saltine cracker thick. The bottom is cooked so that it is flour white and soft...but stiff enough to pick up an individual square. The edges are cooked with a slight golden brown and crisp. The crust doesn't have any accents like butter, garlic or seasoning. Just plain pizza dough. The sauce the is slightly sweet and has a thicker consistency. Arena apllies a decent amount of sauce covers the pizza well and moistens it up a bit. I like the little bit stronger tomato flavor without a dominating spicy taste. There were enough toppings to create that single layer across the pizza. They aren't piled up such that you toppings on top of toppings on top of toppings. Just the right amount. The veggies were crisp and fresh. I would have liked to had more meat and more of an Italian favoring. Still good stuff! As for the cold pizza test...it was still moist enough to bite into the next day...the crispy crusts were still pleasantly crispy. The toppings tend to lose much of their zippy flavor. Though the veggies are still crisp. We ordered a side of cheese bread. The bread is a slice of Texas toast..so it is thick. They grill it so it has some nice buttery grill marks on the bottom. The edges are still soft. The inside breading has a nice buttery-garlic taste. The mozzarella is piled on nicely. Good cheesy taste overall! Overall, Arena Bar & Grill should be on your destination list if you are a thin crust lover. It's a busy place if you plan to dine in. Service is usually pretty friendly and spot on. Wow, very nice and also delicious. Their menu is amazing. Wide array of Mexican seafood dishes. They also have some non seafood options if needed. But when you see a seafood heavy menu at a restaurant, you *really* should get it. I focused on their new menu of shrimp dishes. They included head-on shrimp, in the shells. I wasn't sure I wanted to work for my meal and get messy. But damn, that Camarones al Cilantro (shrimp with cilantro) looked fantastic. I hemmed and hawed and decided I would order it along with some guacamole to get some vegetable material in me. When it came it was piping hot. Couldn't eat it, so focused on the guac for a bit. As the shrimp cooled I went to town on what may have been the messiest meal of my life. (Do NOT order unpeeled shrimp if you are on a first date or a job interview) Let me tell you - these shrimp were unbelievable. They were swimming in sauce and as I peeled them, i then dipped and chowed. The cilantro/chili/garlic? sauce was off the charts good. The onions and cucumber buried within it were also a nice discovery as I made my way through this mountain of a full pound of shrimp. It took a while and the sauce dripped down to my elbows at times. It was a caveman eating experience and it was probably the best Mexican dish I have ever eaten. It was probably a good thing I was eating alone. I don't see any other way to eat this unless you're a psychopath crunching through shrimp shells. But leaving those shells on keeps the shrimp moist as they cook and more importantly it keeps the shrimp flavor from cooking off into the sauce. Shrimp with the shell on do taste better - they are not just being lazy here. This meal was great and I would love to go back if I'm driving through again. Thank you for this!
