Excellent vibes and atmosphere with an incredible playlist the entire night! We ordered a ton of food but the star of the show was the short rib! It just melts in your mouth and the flavors were fabulous! The customer service was on point too. Our reservation was delayed 30 mins and the manager took matters into his hands and ordered us a complimentary appetizer and round of drinks for the table. We were delighted by the service and overall the experience was top notch. Thanks Hide+ Seek! read more

Two stars for the food. The food itself was decent. The branzino could use a little salt but everything else was really good and it was priced well too. In theory, I would have been charged about 78 bucks for a soda, an appetizer and like three entrees that I shared with the other person I was with. Not bad for west loop. However the rest of it comes from the overall experience, namely that they just gave away my Amex card to some random person. I gave my card to pay for my meal. Luckily my app alerts me to when and what is charged on my card no matter how big or small. I was charged something like 360 dollars when the bill I got again was for 78. When I got my receipt back it also showed the 78. The waitress brought me the credit card and the receipt and I was confused. I noted the credit card was not mine. so I waited to ask the waitress why I was charged so much and to give her the different card. She said it would be no problem to fix, and then she came back, said it was fixed and handed me that card that was not mine. I told her again: this is not my card. Where is my credit card? And then she goes "well this is the card you gave back to me" (which obviously I gave it back. It wasn't mine?!?) She then disappeared for a long time only to come back and say that they gave my credit card to a different patron. She said the cards look similar (one was gold and another platinum but ok). And then obviously I was upset. It's not every day a restaurant overcharges you AND gives your credit card away to lord knows who. The waitress had the audacity to say "look, it was an honest mistake." Instead of saying sorry. I asked for a manager. And then waited even longer with no communication. So I walked up to ask the hostess desk why nothing was happening and what the next steps were. I was spoken to by a manager named Jeremy. He stated he would take off the erroneous charge and comp my meal. I made a comment of "I know that." And he said "whoa calm down". I had yet to be apologized to by the way for THEM giving away MY credit card. Finally he said "sorry this occurred it was an honest mistake. I'd like to invite you back to have dinner on us for a better experience" he left then, didn't ask for my Info or give his. I don't know how he thought I would have dinner on them with no contact information. I had to ask myself for his contact Information which he gave. He promises the charge would be removed in 12 hours and to call him if it was not. It was not. I waited three days and then ended up just calling Amex myself to get it credited back. Why would I call the restaurant that screwed me over anyway? All in all. I obviously won't be back. I'm not sure if they don't have a system for keeping cards separate but I'd pay cash if I were you. Ultimately it didn't blow my socks off and there's other, better, similarly priced AND styled restaurants in the area that don't give away credit cards to strangers. read more

Hide + seek really exceeded my expectations! A lot of times I feel like the new restaurants on Randolph don't live up to the hype but hide + seek was a really cute spot with great food! Everything we ordered was delicious. French onion bread was so unique, also got the hamachi crudo, lobster gnocchi, and the filet. Definitely would come back for another meal! read more

My first time visiting Hide + Seek was a fantastic, memorable experience thanks to our knowledgeable, attentive server, Rachid! I had not shared time with a former co-worker in over 20 years and Rachid made our evening meal eventful and truly special. We arrived during happy hour, yet decided to have dinner; enjoying the grilled oysters, French Onion bread (delicious!), watermelon salad, Cauliflower steak, Sticky Ribs, and the Filet; our meal was prepared to perfection! What was the highlight? Rachid. He deserves the accolades for his exemplary customer service, making an ordinary night out, a dining experience! I cannot wait to dine again soon! read more

Happier Hour that includes drinks AND food? Yasss! Hide + Seek is perfect for an outdoor happy hour given their cute patio decor on restaurant row in West Loop. They have incredible happy hour deals including $10 wines and cocktails. Their food deals are also great, and I got full off just a few apps! The only downside is that they aren't the greatest cocktails, nor the best food. I ordered the margarita, it was not the best, and I would rather get wine. For food, we ordered croquetas and empandas. Both, again, were not my favorite and I would not get it again. I got the campanelle for my main, and this was filling and decent! Next time, I would try other items like the filet skewer and cauliflower steak. I'd say try it- it's a fun environment, but don't expect the best cocktails or food. read more

This was such a good find! The vibes here are so nice. This would make a great spot for a first date. The hamachi crudo, gnudi, mushroom agnolotti were highlights for me. My friend had the short rib and said it was unreal and very tender. The service was also good, drinks took a little long but we all ordered different cocktails so that was to be expected. The location is also good because it's close to other bars if you want to bar hop. Will definitely be coming back here next time I'm in Chicago. read more

Happy hour apps are good. The skewers and oysters are delicious. The mains of pasta bolognese was good but not enough pasta to sauce ratio. The seafood , AVOID!! The branzino and the lobster pasta were horrible! We didn't eat either dish and ordered another pasta the plain cheese ravioli. It was alright. The server was very new so she gave us wrong info on sizes of dishes and then things came out wrong. She didn't remove the terrible dishes and I think avoided us since we didn't eat them. I could have been more vocal but could see she was flustered with the busy after work crowd. Not worth it unless you just want drinks and an app. read more

I came here on a Saturday night to celebrate a friend's birthday. The downstairs portion is a restaurant, while the upstairs turns into more of a cocktail lounge area as the night goes on. Unfortunately, the service was extremely slow. It took much longer than expected to get our drinks, place our food order, and get our food. Towards the end, we had to track down the waitress again for our bill. When our bill arrived, they didn't add our deposit towards the bill as promised. Our drinks were just okay. A few friends didn't enjoy the cocktails and some did. For dinner we ordered a few plates of the lumache, campanelle, apple salads, and croquettes. There are only a few vegetarian options on the menu so I asked the waitress if I could order the lumache with the sausage on the side however they were unable to make that accommodation. For dessert to celebrate the bday girl we ordered the chocolate pear cake which was mostly just mousse and little to no cake with a piece of pair on top. My friends and I were all pretty unimpressed with this dessert. Lastly, the restaurant was so loud that we could barely hear each other at our own table! We all usually love similar "trendy" restaurants but unfortunately this spot was disappointing. I think there are so many better dinner options in West Loop! read more

Drinks were amazing. Nick was the best waiter! Wonderful service. Had such a great time

The food is always really good here, however the service on the patio today was frustrating. We received the wrong appetizer and had to track someone down to let them know. The right appetizer arrived after the food and the waitress didn't really check on us at all or refill water. They did give me a complimentary glass of wine for the trouble but then the bill came out incorrect as well. :/ The tables around us also weren't having it BUT Would still return because it's that delicious. I recommend the vegetable empanadas. read more

Such a great place. A night out with girlfriends. Service was great, fast and friendly though at times seemed almost hovering by the table waiting for us to finish a dish. Maybe they just weren't as busy. Shared the ceasar salad, burrata, pasta, steak and more and everything was amazing! Great cocktails too. They did 'upsell' us on the Belvedere 10 which was delish, but we had a bit of sticker shock when the bill came for that. We should have asked. Beautiful place in a great neighborhood. read more

We had an impromptu late-night dinner at hide+seek that was lovely in every way. Food was okay. We went for dinning and the music was too loud. We were 6 of us and couldn't have a conversation. Outside was empty yet they did not move us out. Not at all customer service driven. Lot of attitude. We spent $500. Definitely will not come back or recommend read more

Stopped in here for drinks and the rest of our party. Also had dinner. Sat upstairs and the service was a little slow, but nothing to cry about. Food looked decent, but seemed a little overpriced for what you were getting. I didn't enjoy the cocktails and they definitely had a wide selection of different liquors that you could choose from. This is a happening area in Westloop so There are probably other options you could however definitely something that I would try in the future especially if the weather is nice read more

Love the ambience, especially the patio and main bar. Staff was attentive and knowledgeable and were spot on with their recommendations of the Burrata, Campenelle & Hamachi Crudo. The restaurant week menu was a great way to sample a lot of things on the menu at a discounted rate but consistency from dish to dish was the issue. Some of the food options were knock your socks off amazing and others were ok at best. The service was attentive and polite. The vibes of the restaurant were trendy and exclusive which impacted the experience positively. The grilled octopus was the most tender and tasty octopus I've ever had!! The short rib was tender and delicious! I'd skip the cauliflower, gnocchi and desserts for next time. read more

Great atmosphere and food. Drinks were nice but food was the bomb. I'll be back most definitely

We arrived at Hide + Seek at 8:55 with a reservation at 9:00. We were told our table wasn't ready and to go stand by the bar (completely fine) we ended up getting a drink while waiting because it took longer than expected to be seated. We were only planning on getting drinks here anyway. Once we got sat at our table, we told our waitress we were only doing drinks. She instantly switched moods and was very rude to us! The rest of the night we just felt very uncomfortable and not welcomed because we were only getting drinks. We ended up getting 2 sides of fries too. Overall, the restaurant is gorgeous, the drinks were great but unfortunately service from the waitress and hostesses were very rude. While we didn't get food we still ended up spending about $150 total on two rounds of drinks (for four people) and fries. read more

Hide and seek is a great apps and drinks spot. Paul served us with true excellence and knew the menu very well.

This restaurant is so beautiful. It consists of two levels, there is a bar and dining on both levels. Upstairs has a dj and Bottle service. The host was pleasant and greeted us immediately. Our waiter did an excellent job in explaining the menu and even gave us a few recommendations. I tried a raspberry mock-tail, the Caesar salad, Brussel sprouts and pasta. The Brussel sprouts were absolutely delicious and enough to share. The Caesar salad is also big enough to share and had a unique lemon flavor and in-house made crotons. Unfortunately I wasn't a fan of the caramelle pasta dish as the pasta was undercooked, but my waiter was extremely apologetic and made sure I received a menu with the option of selecting a new entree. I appreciate how everyone went above and beyond to make sure I had an enjoyable dining experience. This is a really cute date spot with attentive service. I would dine here again. read more

The decor in here is so pretty, it's definitely a vibe, and the food was good. We came for brunch and a celebration. However, our waitress on the other hand kind of seemed all over the place. She was nice but the service left a lot to be desired. We ordered sides and for some reason got different food. One friend waited forever for their side. We told the waitress multiple times but for some reason she kept forgetting. When we were ordering food, I specifically mentioned I didn't want a topping that was on the pancakes. I can't emphasize this enough, said it loud and clear a few times. The pancakes came back with the topping. So I had to wait for another set of pancakes. We also noticed that other tables had a champagne bottle for their mimosas but for some reason we didn't. It wasn't a terrible experience but it definitely could have been much better. read more

With high energy music venues like PRYSM (all caps because why not?) and Radius part of its pedigree, Chicago's own NPK Hospitality presents an iteration of the classic neighborhood restaurant ala West Loop. Ahhh West Loop, where corporate climbers come to rub shoulders with out-of-towners looking to feel safe while still near downtown. Be like me and let the thrum of sunset party club jams lure from off the sidewalk for the Happy Hour you didn't know you wanted. Sexy staff and a fleet of bussers outshine generic upscale music venue decor of typical doomed-to-succeed hospitality group styling. Nothing is wrong at Hide+Seek. Based solely on the excellent sazerac, savory baked oysters, and a glance across the dinner menu, you will not bawk at the check after gorging on comfort food classics from around the western world. read more

Came here on a Wednesday night to celebrate a friends birthday. There are two stories, the downstairs being more of a restaurant, and the top floor being more of a bar lounge area with a few tables along the perimeter. Ordered a few drinks to start, and we they were quick to come out and very tasty. We ordered dinner and appetizers, and a few of our favorites were the octopus, Hamachi Crudo, and the short rib entree. Overall, the food came out quick and service was really good. Drinks and food weren't terrible. Service was extremely slow despite it being Thursday and not overly busy. My friend's drink sat on the bar for at least twenty minutes before being brought to us. We probably should have just gone to grab it, but the server kept saying it was on its way. Food was fine, but forgettable. read more

Live in the area, wife wanted to try this place since she saw the cool looking vibe on instagram. The vibe is cool no doubt, probably a good spot for cocktails and people watching. My problem is quality of food compared to the price they charge. Menu was misguided overall with no real theme or staple menu item. Eggplant was cooked well but had pickled vegetable on top which didnt flow. Grilled oyster was sloppy to eat getting orange grease all over your hands. Brussel sprouts were borderline bland. Escargot was beautiful visually but portions of the bread were so undercooked the dough was raw. Croquettes were delicious but way overpriced. Overall I was disappointed in how this place charges top dollar for food that is above average at best. Will not be returning for food orders. read more

Save yourself a ruined night, and no not dine here. Booked a reservation 2 weeks out for 3 people on a Friday night, showed up for our reservation and was told table wasn't ready and we could grab drink at bar.. totally fine, we did. I went up to host/manager to check on table after 30 minutes... then 45 minutes... then an hour.. each time they said they did not have an ETA on when we would be seated and assured we would be sat... we were straight up lied to by the hosts and manager.. after an hour and 15 minutes from our original reservation time.. we had no choice but to abandon our reservation and leave without being seated. Manager apologize and said he hopes we come back (we will not). Every table was doubled booked or only booked in one hour time slots?, there were at least a dozen people waiting for tables as long as we were. I understand this is a new restaurant but the way customers were treated was completely unprofessional and could've been dealt with so much better. After an hour of waiting the manager sent out a Burrata app and covered a round of drinks while we waited.. but that didn't even make up for the time we wasted. I can't imagine if we were celebrating a birthday or anniversary and had to deal with that. We were able to walk in and be sat at Aba down the street and had a great night. I hope Hide+Seek can figure out the mess that happened at Friday and improve. read more

The ambiance was really cool! I had a few friends visit from out of town so we went here and they enjoyed it. It is very expensive for small servings. We definitely did not leave full so we got some more food later in the night. Although it was not much, it was pretty good. Our waiter was so kind and attentive and even gave us free shots at the end! Overall, you pay for the vibe so I would only recommend going if you got some money to spend. read more

Overall: Great food, better ambiance, solid service- am definitely planning to return. Tastiness: For a group of 4 we tried a bunch of different dishes - the most memorable were the heirloom tomato salad, the escargot en croute, and the Rohan duck. We were not thrilled with the oysters on the half shell as they seemed dry and a little creamy (certainly not the freshest), the croquettes were just ok, and the cauliflower the same. The cocktails on the other hand were delicious - we each had 2, so 8 in total (all different) and everyone enjoyed theirs. The City of Lights and Raspberry Beret were outstanding. Presentation: Really pretty and practical too. Service: Exceptional. We got there at 6:30 when it wasn't so packed, but as the night progressed and more people arrived, the staff couldn't keep up quite so well. They definitely seemed overwhelmed in the bar, as it took round #2 of drinks a while to get to our table. Ambiance: Great music from a DJ who was spinning live. The restaurant is simply beautiful and would highly recommend taking a look around (before it gets too busy). Cleanliness: Pretty clean and neat place. Price: Adequate for the appetizers - the manis were more expensive than expected ($98 for a steak in a non-steak house seems a little much) read more
