He gave us great recommendations from the menu and had a really good energy about him. We started with some guacamole and it was pretty tasty. But the fish tacos? They were some of the best fish tacos I've ever had. Maybe it's because they were thick pieces - not tiny cut up fish bits - and they were fresh and hot and crispy! The sauce on them was so good and packed a nice punch and the lime delivered a perfect amount of acid. These were stellar and I would come back for these any day. I thought the meal wouldn't get better, but then we all shared a Cuban sandwich and wow! It was better than some of the ones I've had in Miami. I was totally floored after this meal! We weren't expecting anything big, but this was bombastic, and I will definitely be recommending this place to everyone I know! The fact that the staff is so cool, the place is so cute, and the food is so good makes this an easy choice for a neighborhood hang out.

I was pleasantly surprised when I walked in and saw how cute the restaurant was. I had passed by many times but for some reason I thought it was a more casual take out place but I was very wrong. They renovated in 2023 and they did an amazing job, the bar, color and table settings were all so aesthetically pleasing. The waitress that was there was so nice and attentive and even offered us water while we waited for our empanadas. We opted to try the corn chicken empanadas which comes with chicken, potatoes and saffron inside. They were delicious and exactly what we needed to hold us over until our late dinner plans. I'll definitely be visiting them for a proper meal or drinks at their beautiful bar!

The pizzas remind me of the Sicilian slices, they were square. She got empanadas but I'm not a fan of baked empanadas. The service was quick, and I like the pizza. This time, they had a stand up at Strong Rope Brewery in Red Hook, and it's a lifesaving addition over there. The lovely folks behind the stand are warm, welcoming, and ready to give you what you need. And what you need is carnitas. And beef and cheese. And surprisingly, the INCREDIBLE spinach and cheese. This last one kind of stole the show, and I'm almost always a meaty Petey. Basically, pair any empanada with some of their pineapple habanero sauce and you have a serious flavor bomb on your hands. Wash it down with some beer in a giant open, airy room? Perfection. My only concern is that Empanada Papa may have broken up with Empanada Mama? But as New Yorkers, we should just mind our own business, so I'm going to just keep it moving.

They had a spicy one, green one (avocado?) and pink (ketchup/mayo). The cashier was really nice and recommended some to try. They were out of the oxtail at the time. Immediately I was going to rate them lower due to size and no labeling but the taste was truly made with lots of love. I ordered 4 via Ubereats, totaling roughly $24 with 3 sauces. I ordered the Chicken macaroni and cheese, Ropa Vieja, Americano and a Pastelon. Every single one of them were on point, warm and crispy. My only true complaint is that they're super small. Better for my calorie intake I guess lol. The meat was extremely well seasoned, cheese was melted, plantain was sweet. The edges were crispy and the flavors together were delicious. The avocado sauce is way too thick. It's more like a thick heavy cream. The pink sauce is your typical mayo ketchup. There is absolutely no way of knowing which empanadas are which. They need a better concept so that customers know especially if they're ordering as a group to share. I've never seen an empanada place not label their empanada. I read a google review from the owners saying they put it on the package on the bottom corner but that is a lie. It's not on the empanada itself or on the packaging. Overall I'm still ordering from here again : )

Having it stamped on the empanadas ( which when fried, not all stamps are legible) isn't effective when you have to remove every single one out the bag to see which one is it. Don't know about you but I don't think the average person enjoys their food touched before they get to consume it. This is okay if you purchasing just for yourself but when a family orders together it's not the best system.

My mood was to grab empanadas and sit on the hills of Sunset Park basking in the sunlight. I walked into the shop, which is very tiny and take out only. The ladies working at the counter were super friendly and accommodating, the empanadas were being made fresh and fried right in front of me. I opted for the beef and chicken empanada and asked to sample both of their sauces, they packed them really well in a bag for me and gave me napkins and I only paid $6 for two. An absolute steal If you ask me. The empanadas were fried perfectly, crispy, but not super doughy. The filling was perfect, the chicken filling was a little bit on the dry side, but nothing a little bit of sauce couldn't fix. I did like the beef filling because it wasn't super greasy and was seasoned right. Definitely check them out and I cannot wait to return and try the cheese empanada. Those are usually my favorite.
