Many, many years ago, my husband obtained employment in Ohio. Specifically, Springfield, Ohio. We lived there for 10 years, truly living in the Mid-West of America. Great, humble people. Made great friends but eventually my husband was promoted, and we left Ohio, very sad to go. But we have fond memories of our time and friends there, and recently we returned, after 20 years, to attend a friend's funeral. While living there, one of our favorite restaurants was Hickory Inn. While there we returned and it was like stepping into a time warp. It hasn't changed much. Made me very nostalgic. Food was pretty much the same. They have a varied menu, but are best known for their pizza. This is not fine dining, but solid, good food in a semi-dive bar setting. I enjoyed returning.

Hickory Inn has been a classic for so many years. I remember always choosing this restaurant for my birthdays growing up. I am a sucker for the White Italian pizza!! Great little hidden gem in Springfield.

Prime rib night and Wow was it good... One of my favorite places to go when I am in town. If you have not tried the Mahi with Cancun spice you are missing out

Quite frankly, The Hickory Inn pizza was one of the best hole in the wall bar pies you can find in Clark County, Ohio. I had lived in Springfield for nearly 20 years and had never heard of the place until this past holiday. Not only was the pizza great, but if you enjoy dipping your pizza in ranch, the ranch is absolutely fantastic. I would consider myself an amateur pizza reviewer, but this pizza was very good.

Best steak in town. Hard to get in on weekends. But worth the wait! Their pizza is really good, too. Great old fashioned service, great!

Said the kitchen staff baked it a bit too long and asked if the pizza was too charred for my taste. Unfortunately it was too charred. He took it back to the kitchen and they remade my pizza. Second pizza was perfect. That is great customer service! I will definitely return to Lievita. It is a great addition to food choices in Chillicothe. I was totally impressed.

Despite living 30 minutes away we had yet to give this place a try. Located on Paint Street near Yoktangee Park, parking can be an issue. During the day it's metered - after 5 no charge but still rather limited spots for the number of stores in the area. We found one across the street. We got there about 30 minutes before closing but service was courteous and we were seated and had our food within 20 minutes. We weren't the only late arrivals. Another couple came in behind us. We felt bad about being there after closing but many tables still had people eating when we left. We asked for the pizza they are known for and got a 16" NY style cheese pizza brought to us in minutes. Super hot! Overall, we were underwhelmed with the pizza. Sauce was good and not acidic. Pizza could have used more cheese. It seemed like the sauce to cheese ratio favored sauce. The star was the crust. Nice and crunchy. Edge was cooked nicely but I would have liked it to have give a little longer so the middle had more structure. Next time we'd definitely order it topped. They use cupped pepperoni so my husband was happy. I generally eat cheese pizza but even I said it could benefit from a topping or at least more cheese. I'd give the place 7/10 but we're willing to try other things on the menu to see if the cheese pizza just wasn't for us.

They even have a cute four-seat bar at the rear. Decor is charming Italian bistro style. Food and drink menus are displayed underneath plexiglass right on your tabletop. Brilliant! Prompt, welcoming, knowledgeable and perfectly attentive. Drink AND bread refills were offered at the right time, and when I was getting full, the waitress offered to wrap the leftovers without me having to ask her. I wish I'd noted her name for a shout out! The soup of the day was Roasted Garlic, and on her recommendation we started with a blended cup of this plus their house soup, Roasted Tomato. It was full of flavor without being overwhelming. The included croutons were a perfect texture to go with soup. I had the tricolor cheese tortellini with fresh tomato sauce and upgraded to add spicy Italian sausage. The dish was a dream in every way. Sausage was so authentically Italian and nice and spicy. I was also offered shakers of Parmesan and red pepper flakes. My husband really enjoyed his braised beef panini and the horseradish based dipping sauce that accompanied it. This restaurant is aptly named as I found it to be an Italian foodie paradise. Parking is somewhat challenging and that is the sole negative. Highly recommended!

My son and his wife took us to a an amazing place they stumbled into what may very well be the culinary pride of Columbus: La Tavola, a family-owned, family-run Italian restaurant that feels like someone teleported you straight into Nonna's kitchen... but with better lighting and no guilt about not calling enough. If you love yourself a great, unapologetically stinky pizza and I'm talking Parmigiano-Reggiano and ricotta levels of heavenly funk then this is your place. This pizza didn't just have cheese; it was knee-deep in cheese. Handmade, hand-rolled, and clearly crafted by people who know their way around a dairy situation. The appetizers? Fantastic. The waitstaff? Friendly, attentive, and exactly the kind of people you'd hope are handing you carbs by the plateful. But then, the main dishes arrived. I ordered seared scallops over a bed of handmade buttery fettuccine with capers, and I swear I heard an angel sing. The scallops were perfectly cooked, the pasta was the kind that ruins you for boxed pasta forever, and the whole thing tasted like someone's Italian grandmother blessed the plate personally. If I could say "WAY TO GO!" in Italian, I absolutely would but instead I'll say this: If you're ever in Columbus, go to La Tavola. Go hungry. Go ready to eat like you're visiting family. And go prepared to fall a little bit in love with this place. Family-owned, warm, cozy, and outrageously delicious. Highly recommend.

We were lucky to get a reservation at Morettis for Valentine's Day and it did not disappoint. Starting off with the complimentary homemade bread and herb butter. My husband had the old fashioned which he thought was okay. I had the creamy limoncello martini which was tart and delicious. For dinner my husband had the chicken Parmesan and was really happy with his choice. Even though he went in with a big appetite, he ended up taking some home. The portions are really generous. I had the veal Francaise, a tender veal cutlet cooked in a lemony butter sauce with green beans and mushrooms and homemade spaghetti. It was incredible also. I ate about half and had a delicious lunch for the next day. The house salad that comes with every meal has a tasty homemade vinaigrette with pasta and crispy green beans. The meats and cheese for my "Roamin' Italian" sandwich were carved right in front of me. The pillowy ciabatta bread crisped up beautifully in the wood-fired oven leftover from Bada-Bing's. Even the chips and fountain drinks were made with care: the chips came from local purveyor Rue Farms, while the typical Coke or Pepsi fountain was replaced with that of an independent soda company (with a very tasty black cherry soda, for what it's worth). I'm honestly struggling to come up with any real criticism for Salato Deli; the service was prompt and courteous, the food is among the best I've had in months, and the price is well within what you'd pay at any other sandwich spot.
