My boyfriend and I came to Springfield for the weekend. He ordered the Meatball Sub without bell peppers, and I ordered the Italian Chef Salad and picked up some snacks while we waited. Everything was so fresh. Meatball sub was in a soft bun and wasn't too bready. It had four homemade meatballs with homemade sauce and provolone slices across the top and baked. They offer steamed, baked, or cold. Very huge, flavorful, and good! My salad was loaded with meat, two slices of tomato, green olives, and a choice of one or two sliced hard-boiled eggs. The salad was so huge, I wish I had a second salad dressing packet. The staff was very nice, and they had constant customers coming in to pick up orders. We love this place! Lots of good sandwiches and pizza. You can also pick up deserts and snacks to go with it at the store. The only sandwich I have to recommend not getting was the Mushroom Steak. I've been going to Catenzaros my entire life. When I was young, it was as far as I can recall, only fresh fruits & vegetables. My family always bought produce at their stores. I can't recall now, but I believe there were 2, maybe 3? I only recall very little of it now but still remember the same feeling when I enter this small store. My grandparents were both Sicilian and distant cousins, so I remember Russ & Joe and their sister Josephine. So, it's a little bit nostalgic to me. Although the amounts of fresh produce seem smaller , thankfully they still have a great pizza & sub menu. I can appreciate they are still able to provide great quality food. Pizzas are freshly made, and the toppings are plentiful. The staff are all friendly. The only problem I've ever encountered is when they're super busy and I've tried to call in an order, they seem to forget the phones or I've been on hold until you may as well give up! I understand why, there's only a couple of staff, so when that happens I just go in, order and wait 20 min or so. I suppose if I ordered delivery, it would be an issue. I ordered on line today. I ordered the 3 meat Italian grinder, I got to the car , opened the box and it was not what I wanted. When I went inside to and them know i was told, i couldn't have a refund, and was told I must have made a mistake when I ordered it online. The girls said, If you would like to order something else we can take your order but, you'll need to pay for it to. We don't give refunds. After my bad week, and spending the last of my money on the order. I was so mad, upset and disappointed , I tossed the sub on the counter and walked out. I have heard about how awesome Catanzaro's is. So tonight I ordered a pizza and salad for dinner. Cheese and pepperoni, and a house salad. The crust was excellent, the sauce a bit sweet and tomato-y, but the bite sized pepperonis a hit. The house salad was large, but small for $8 of just lettuce greens, and some radish and tomatoes. $24 for a 16" pie and salad I think is a but much. Not the best pizza ever, but I will be going back to try the grinders and that might change the rating a bit. They have a long history in town and must be doing something right. Maybe it was an off night for them. We will try again. read more

Tried this place for the first time and wow, little mom and pop store. The pizza is between a thin and hand tossed crust. They used old world pepperoni and is cooked just right. My wife got a sub ( steak with mushroom gravy) the bun was big and looked like they had made it in store. We will be going back. read more

No one contacted me to let me know items I wanted on pizza were not available to see if I still wanted it, they just made it anyway without requested topping. Which may seem insignificant, but for pizza, certain toppings make or brake it. I would've cancelled if known ahead of time. Then when I looked at my receipt they still charged me for missing ingredients! Had to wait in store about 15 minutes longer than when pizza was supposed to be ready, got it home, opened the box and it was burnt to a crisp. Not just cooked a bit long, full on black edges burnt.
