We love Black owned Cafes. Took a stroll down Flatbush not too long ago & decided to pop into a newer cafe on the block. Hibiscus brew serves items from lattes to healthy salads & smoothies. I ordered the hibiscus smoothie, banana bread and avocado chicken salad. The banana bread was very fresh and light. Salad was also great . My favorite part about the Hibiscus smoothie was the sorrel ginger inside. Always gotta keep the Caribbean roots nearby. Did I mention they're also Jamaican owned? Lovely, discreet oasis of coffee cafe charm tucked into a bustling street front next to an nondescript Italian restaurant. A few smoothie bowls, drinks and of course top flight coffee and friendly service from the owner. This coffee snob shall return! read more

Hibiscus Brew - Berry bowl with cappuccino and ginger lemonade and banana bread - Cafes Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

I was introduced to Hibiscus Brew after attending an Elite event in June for Caribbean Heritage month. I really liked the vibe of this place so I knew I would have to give this place another try. I came in when I received a text message about their soursop smoothies (I love soursop). The café is cute and cozy with a few tables if you choose to stay. As for the soursop smoothie...it was okay but I definitely didn't love it. Now, what I did love was the chocolate chip cookie sandwich. I think all of their baked goods and treats are vegan and I was definitely skeptical (I've had vegan desserts that looked pretty but tasted like pure sugar and nothing else). When I went for the Elite visit, I paid for the Earl Grey cake which was really good. The cookie sandwich was equally as good. Hibiscus Brew knows a thing or two about vegan desserts. I like their smoothies and desserts--I have yet to try their hot beverages but I will in due time. I recommend this cute shop. read more

I came in here the other day and there was an ingredient missing from the smoothie I ordered (which was completely fine, I was fully prepared to order a different thing) and the owner came up to me and asked me to wait two minutes and RAN OUT to get the ingredient and personally made me the smoothie I have never had such a kind and beautiful experience like that from any business in nyc in my life! Please make this place famoussss they deserve it read more

Really cute spot! I've come here a couple times and every time I see something else on the menu I want to try next. I've gotten coffee drinks a couple times and it's been great, today I got the clean skin smoothie. The smoothie was really nice, pricey but tasted great and the person working was extremely friendly. Overall just love the vibe here, service is always lovely and have yet to be dissatisfied with an order! read more

First time I've been satisfied with ordering Ice Matcha Latte without any issues. One of the best Ice Matcha Lattes that I've had a long time. If your ever in the need for a great drink please visit Hibiscus Brew first you won't regret it. Lastly thank you for having a wonderful Barista, kind, thoughtful and more importantly creative. read more

Fantastic coffee shop in the neighborhood. The staff is always kind and attentive, and the owner clearly cares about the neighborhood. Opened in COVID and I'm excited to see them thrive. They only have one side of coffee cups, which I wish they had a larger size, and it's a little bit pricier, but the experience/personality of the shop keeps me coming back. There are a limited number of tiny tables if you want to meet someone or work, but not a big enough space to sprawl out for the day. If they have Nutella banana bread while you're there, don't miss out. read more

What a delight! I discovered this business on seamless (didn't see a website or I would have ordered directly) and I am so glad I did! I ordered the Powerhouse Bowl with toppings of strawberries, granola and almonds and the open faced avocado toast (avocado, sun dried tomatoes, jalapeños on toasted sourdough) and it was all so fresh and tasty. I'll make it my business to stop in soon... though very filling, my tastebuds tell me we parted ways too soon. read more

Very clean and chic interior. There are some comfy chairs and a table near the front and another table just past the counter so you and a friend can sit and enjoy a refreshment without feeling crowded. There are also two tables just outside. I'm glad this spot is thriving. I went with a colleague pretty early in the morning and it was calm but a lot of folks pulled up and got smoothies or iced coffee and a quick bite. I tried the hibiscus smoothie and it was thick and tasty. It was filling and very satisfying. My only critique is that I wish they didn't use plastic straws and cups. Perhaps if customers opt to dine-in glassware can be used? I don't know, I'm no cafe proprietor. I will just walk with my reusable straw next time. read more

they tried to charge me 10.58$ for a small iced coffee. not even an espresso! its 2024. economy is shit. I can go get the same thing at Dunkin donuts for 3$! read more

I went for the first time this weekend and had such a lovely experience. From the cute decor to the warmth of the owner and her staff, I was totally sold. I ordered the hibiscus smoothie and also the avocado toast which was way more plentiful than I am used to and had a nice little kick. Both were really tasty. I look forward to making this one of my neighborhood spots! read more

Went to Hibiscus Brew this morning hoping it was going to be my new coffee spot as I live across the street... Stood outside in the cold for a few minutes, as I assumed the store was full given that there were already three people inside (it is a small store and you know, COVID). It turns out, it was just the employees congregating in the front (learned this when I walked inside, and they were discussing how to get more customers into the store, which is ironic given what happens next....). Upon realizing they are employees, I walk in, and the three employees continue to talk as I wait at the counter. They made eye contact with me, and continued to speak. I waited about four minutes before I left - went to my local bodega and got a coffee instead. read more

I just moved to the neighborhood a week or so ago, but this instantly became my new go-to spot! Not only is the decor warm and welcoming, but the staff is as well. The baristas are always so friendly and make great drinks -- whether a standard iced latte or a fun smoothie, I haven't been disappointed. The chocolate chip cookies are also delicious! And I 100% recommend the Espress Yo'self smoothie (a combo of espresso, almond milk, banana, choc chips, cinnamon) -- so good :) read more

So excited to support a new black business in our community! I had a sorrel smoothie and it was amazing and refreshing! This coffee shop does coffee RIGHT. I have pretty high standards for my coffee, but after getting their iced coffee a week ago, I've been back every morning since! Their coffee is smooth and full of body. No acidic, bitter, or burnt taste here. I was sad to see the former Chameleon Cafe go, but I am SO happy Hibiscus has moved in! Welcome to the neighborhood! read more

I love this place! The baristas are super friendly, and I love their Sorrel smoothie. Can't wait to try more!

I live just around the corner and this was my first time trying this adorable new spot...and I can't believe it took me this long!! The staff was incredibly kind and friendly and helped me choose the Black Panther smoothie which I am sipping as I write this and it's just soooo goood!! I also got a pistachio olive loaf which lasted all of 5 seconds because it was delicious. Always happy to support a new independent business, especially during these crazy times. It's absolutely worth checking out. read more

Not only is the Iced Hibiscus Rose Matcha delicious, it is also topped with beautiful rose petals for a lovely touch. Highly recommend!

I really wanted to like Hibiscus Brew but had the strangest interaction this morning there and will not be returning. The worker didn't seem to understand what was going on and I asked for a cappuccino and what type of breads they had as the signs were not displayed. After a back and forth over what they were I told her yes, banana bread sounds great, I'll take one. She rung me up and proceeded to make my drink. The total came to $14 and I thought this is strange but oh well would like to support them. And then she comes back with my drink and askes if I want both breads in the same bag. I told her that I only ordered one banana and she then argued with me about it. I was pleasant and said no, I just had one banana but now I'm curious did you charge me for more? And she blatantly tells me "no" I was feeling so flustered by the rude interaction I just went on my way, but I'm sorry $14 for a small cappuccino and a piece of banana bread....somethings off here. Will not be trying again and will bring my business directly across the street to the coffee shop where I'm not ripped off. read more
