When I was growing up in Brooklyn, I used to joke that in some neighborhoods you could not throw a stick without hitting a pizza joint. By the same token, the same can be said for Park Slope, which is absolutely filled with cafes and coffee places. Given that, it is remarkable when one manages to stand out against the others and Lively manages to do just that. Lively has a beautiful store front with bright colors and large windows that let sun flood the shop. There is a long counter with some seating to the side. When I visited only one door was open, the other was locked (I'm not 100% sure why). The staff is always friendly and on my most recent visit I ordered a Pumpkin Spice Latte (with oat milk and a shot of Espresso). They may be sources of memes and jokes, but I really do enjoy them. Service was quick and in no time I was sitting outside to enjoy my drink. If I were to score a "top ten" of PSL's, I would put this one in the top five. You could definitely taste a lot of spice and there was a very bright note that I liked a lot. At the same time it was nice and smooth without any unpleasant sharp flavors (which happens sometimes with spiced drinks). Lively is a wonderful addition to the area and I'm a fan. Was driving through the area and had to pick a place to get some coffee to wake me up. Lively not only looked like a nice spot but it indeed was a good spot. Got a cappuccino with oat milk. I'm not sure what beans they use but the cappuccino was a little acidic but it still did the job. I saw that they had Blue Milk so I had to try it. It was ok compared to another I've tried from a different place. Their Blue Milk wasn't sweetened and that threw me off a bit because that's what I was expecting. I also grabbed a raw peanut butter maple syrup cup and thought it was tasty. The peanuts on top of it hit the spot. Pretty sure it's considered a raw treat because it was refrigerated? I keep trying this place and I keep being disappointed or ripped off. I keep trying because I like the idea of the place and know that things sometimes go wrong (forgotten food, screwed up orders, a one really bad, salty bowl). Most recently, I ordered a delivery of lunch (vegan tacos) and a latte. Order arrived, no food, only a 1/2 spilled latte (I get it, things sometimes spill on deliveries). I called about the food and they said, "oh, you requested no mayo and we couldn't make it without mayo so we didn't send it. We can only do no mayo when we make it fresh and we already made them for the next 6 days." Ok, but you didn't refund me either... Or call me to let me know that you would not be sending my food. When I asked about a refund, the woman on the phone told me she was pretty sure "the app" would take care of it. Well, it didn't and I had to fight for a refund later. Past issues- açaí bowl is just juice in a bowl. Drip coffee is often cold. I watched a barista add a tip to an order after the customer had left the payment screen open!!!!!!! Lovely smoothie/health food option just opened on 7th Ave in South Slope. Lured in by the newly-opened storefront and free smoothie samples. We ordered two smoothies to sample/split - the Vanilla Probiotic and the Turmeric smoothie - both of which were excellent. Hints of sweetness, but not cloyingly so like some smoothies. Liberal use of cinnamon and turmeric in each. In addition to smoothies and juices, they had a number of interesting and healthful food options on the menu--noodle dishes, salads, oatmeals and toasts--but we had recently ate so just tried the smoothies. You'll have to wait a few minutes, as they like to make things fresh. Staff is friendly and enthusiastic, at least as of opening. Explained that they are 95% vegan gluten-free. Also a host of herbal teas as well as Toby's estate coffee on hand. Not incredibly spacious, but enough room to comfortably hang and enjoy a tasty, impressively healthy meal. IT'S HERE! New healthy, vegan food option in South Slope area. We've really needed a place like this in the neighborhood. I've already been twice in the past 24 hours... and will definitely keep coming back. The space itself is simple and gorgeous, basically made for Instagram. There are both "grab and go" options, as well as a menu of items to order from that take about 3-5 minutes to prepare. Added bonus: the people who work here are so genuine, friendly, and knowledgeable. So far I've tried the Healthy Chocolate smoothie and the Vanilla Probiotic smoothie (with pea protein added!). Both were *incredibly* delicious and filling. It's nearly a toss-up but I have to say the Healthy Chocolate is my favorite so far... Imagine a healthy, vegan, upscale "Frosty" (the Wendy's dessert, haha). There's no question the ingredients are super high quality -- and of course, you pay a premium for that. In my opinion, it's more than worth it. I'm excited to try the more savory options on the menu, and foresee many breakfasts in my near future consisting of their Chia Pudding, Date Oatmeal, and Coconut Yogurt. :) Keep up the good work, Lively! Delighted to welcome some healthy food to the neighborhood. South Slope has been lacking in fresh delights for quite some time and I've always thought it was a missed opportunity. Lively has fresh and bottled juices, fresh smoothies, supplements to add to drinks, a full coffee set-up, and for the time being a limited selection of salads and whole food snacks. Yep, South Slope has gone full cool mom. I even saw a cool mom stroll by with purple-silver hair while I waited for my order... My Vanilla Probiotic smoothie (almond milk, banana, coconut yogurt, vanilla, chia seeds, cinnamon, sea salt) tasted somewhere between vanilla cake batter and a chai latte, which suited me just fine. I'm hoping they'll roll out even more green salads and snacks but it's only been 3 days, so for now, bravo. read more

A very cute addition to the Park Slope community. This place screams IG coffee haven if you know what I mean. The coffee kind of seems to be a hit or miss, the first time I went my latte was amazing with just the right proportion of foam to coffee. Second time, the cup was barely full and it tasted very watery. I also ordered this green cookie (gluten free!) which was amazing and definitely made up for the coffee. The other pastries looked great, with plenty of gluten free and vegan options! I completely agree with the review saying to avoid this place, and I'm pretty surprised that anyone who has ever tasted a smoothie before could have anything positive to say about the Vanilla Probiotic smoothie. On paper, I would absolutely love this place. As soon as I saw it, I made a note in my phone to check it out. I read the Yelp reviews before going, seeing a ton of recommendations for the Vanilla Probiotic smoothie. It also seemed like something I would enjoy, so when I finally stopped in, that's what I ordered. Yelp doesn't usually steer me wrong. First thing to note is that the guy working behind the counter was not particularly friendly. For some reason, that seems to be the norm for this type of smoothie place, so it didn't totally throw me off. He was just really disinterested, plus he sort of snapped at me when I tried to hand him my card instead of inserting it myself into the chip reader. But on its own, his poor attitude wouldn't have led me to leave a one-star Yelp review. No, that's because of the Vanilla Probiotic smoothie. With almond milk, a banana, and coconut yogurt listed as the first three ingredients, I expected a fairly thick and creamy smoothie. In reality? It seemed like the ingredients list should have read something like: "ice, more ice, water, a handful of chia seeds, and a minuscule splash of almond milk." I absolutely could not taste any banana, vanilla, cinnamon, coconut yogurt, or sea salt. It was incredibly watery, with huge chunks of ice. It took around five minutes for them to make it, so I'm not sure what exactly they were doing back there, because the ice chunks clearly demonstrated that it hadn't been blended at all. And it was pretty heavy on the chia seeds, so when I wasn't chewing ice, I was chewing mouthfuls of chia seeds without any liquid or smoothie. Overall, there was an extremely low amount of anything even slightly resembling a smoothie in my cup. Because the guy had such a negative and disinterested attitude towards me, I didn't want to complain. In hindsight, I wish I did. I'm wondering if something changed with the menu or the management since all of those positive reviews back in January or February, or if something was terribly off on June 13, because I had such a similar experience to Jessica M. And sure, the atmosphere of the place is pretty, but who wants to pay $9 (over $10 with the tip I left) to sit in a pretty place and chew on ice? I don't love that their kitchen/smoothie area is behind a wall; most other smoothie places have an open kitchen, so you can see the quality of the ingredients being used. I'm someone who will happily pay more than $10 for a high-quality smoothie, but I was pretty sketched out by this place. I also had a stomachache later in the day, and nothing else in my diet was out of the ordinary. If you want to avoid paying $9 for a cup of ice, I suggest heading to JuiceLand on 9th St or Juice Press on 7th Avenue. Both spots have delicious smoothies that won't make you sick, along with much friendlier employees! read more

The spot is nicely decorated and setup, and could have been a nice addition to the neighborhood. But the oddness of the ingredients / quality of the items tasted so far make me wonder how long this place can really last... The mint smoothie was made with some sort of mint elixr or mint oil/ essense- not fresh - and it tasted like a mint flavored Robitussin. It's great to have a healthy vegan spot in the neighborhood. Second time getting the veggie sandwich and it's been underwhelming. A small amount of raw veggies on cold, hard, dry, crumbly bread. I love the atmosphere, Yuri( sorry if I spelled your name incorrectly) is very friendly and knowledgeable...The avocado toast is yummy, and the coffee except.Lively has different sweeteners if your not into regular sugar, monk fruit and coconut sugar, my fav!! I ordered a smoothie( can't remember the name), and it was delicious and filling, it had chia in it...Lively also has a great selection of fresh juices and milks.. I also got the rainforest juice, made with pear, spinach, cucumber, etc..you get the idea, Irs very healthy and good for you.. I won't lie. I was pretty skeptical of this place when I first saw the signs up that they would be selling fresh juices and healthy food. I thought to myself ' Groan not another overpriced juice bar selling bland stuff' But after walking in on a whim I was pleasantly surprised . The Matcha milk was sooooooo phenomenal !My two pizza and burger loving kids who usually hate almond milk ( or any healthy drinks for that matter) slurped down the matcha milk in a record 5 seconds and then begged me to get more the next day. Plus super extra bonus points for the most awesome, knowledgeable friendly , accommodating, sweetest and most sincere person serving up the drinks ! Randomly stopped into this lovely cafe. The guy behind the counter was super nice and knowledgeable about the products and ingredients. I got a cold brew and a juice. Both were delicious. I was also given samples of two other juices which were very different from each other and very tasty. The cafe itself is so cute and clean. They sell a few random products(balm, body oil, bowls)- most of which seemed to be locally sourced. I didn't get a chance to try and food but it looks good and healthy. Reviewing this place in the hopes that it's still here next time I'm in nyc. Whoever came up with the coconut toast is a WIZARD! It's like eating a fruity cloud. Their gluten free bread is amazing and made of cauliflower, rice, quinoa etc and has a nice crunch as toast. My roomie got the avocado toast and was soooo happy with it. Very filling. The blue milk tastes like liquid Jordan almonds! I got the fat burning smoothie (I hate smoothies with names like this) just because I love mango and it was good but wayyyyyyy too thin/watery, I'm guessing from the coconut water in it. More mango would thicken it up, but not a big deal. It's just more like a juice. I have moved to the neighborhood few months ago. This soon became my to go place for coffee. It's a cute little cafe with variety of cold pressed juices and healthy snacks. I was happy with it until last week's incident. As running in for my morning coffee , I encountered the rudest most outrageous customer service experience I by far came across. That morning with my coffee I got yelled by a barista, who spoke to me in the most condescending way, followed by slamming a coffee cup in front of me. In absolute shock I asked "Are you ok? and did i say or do something to offend you ?" In return she yelled that she will be calling the police shortly because i am abusing her" !!! This incident was reported to a manger , who apologized for their employer's behavior profusely. However I was surprised that nothing else was done about the incident. As i am walking pass the cafe on daily basis , I was shocked to see the same employee working the counter just 3 days after this took place. I find myself in a position to cross this place off my list. Anyone condoning this type of behavior towards their regular customers is simply not ok. read more

While a bit pricey, the quality of food is much better than most places at the same price point. I love getting the Buddha bowl for lunch. It is a significant amount of food and the ingredients are always fresh. My complaint about the Buddha bowl is the sauce container is always at the bottom of the bowl!
