A batch of uncovered and unattended garlic butter sitting on their counter.
Tamica J.

Pretty good food! I had jumbo shrimp with side of chicken for $2.00, vegetables and rice. It was very good and it took about 15 minutes for it to be ready. It came with garlic butter and soy sauce. Do not order the egg rolls. They are gross. It appeared it wasn't cooked long enough. The attached photo: A batch of their garlic butter sitting on the counter uncovered. I watched people stand over it asking what it was, walked past it for soda or simply stood around it, all while it was uncovered. Doesn't say hygienic to me. ‍. Also, the young girl who works the counter has the WORST attitude ever. You can tell she doesn't want to be there and probably hates it, but she doesn't realize this is a family business and how she is provided for.

Chicken, Steak, and Shrimp Hibachi

This was my first time. Because of COVID-19, you walk into a plexiglass partion and there's a younglady (behind plexiglass) that takes your order. She does have her mask on. I got the chicken, steak, and shrimp habachi. It was good (It's not Kyoto) for $17. The steak was tender and seasoned along with the chicken, nicely. The shrimp was ok. It was a little bland for my taste. The garlic butter, that comes on the side, was ok. (Again---it's not Kyoto quality.) The rice and veggies (consisting of carots, broccoli, and onions) was tasty. I'll got back again and try something else. It's not bad.

This is how much onion I pulled out just being halfway thru the container of rice.

I had the chicken fried rice and an egg roll. I start on the rice and I see there's onion. Not a fan of onion but I was hoping there wasn't a lot. Where I usually get fried rice doesn't use any or that much so I didn't think of specifying on the onions. I made it halfway thru and accumulated that many onions (see picture). The taste is overpowering. Which is a shame because everything seemed to be cooked right. Not sure if all hibachi spots do their rice like this but I will definitely specify next time. Egg roll was ok.

Crab rangoon, steamed dumplings, hot and sour, orange chicken, and almond chicken!!

We did not dine in but did get carry out. It was a 30 minute wait. Food was ready when I arrived. The food was extremely good for it being Chinese. Often times Chinese food tastes bland, too salty, or very greasy. Their food was spot on. The prices were extremely affordable, cheaper than any restaurant in the area. They even have sushi, and a couple of different cuisine options. Lovely place!! I would definitely eat here again as it is now my new favorite Chinese restaurant.

Never noticed these weird ball fans before, but they are crazy.

Love this place. The food is inexpensive, the place is clean, and the portion size and price are aligned well so you dont end up with a pile of leftovers, but also arent left hungry. The beef in the teriyaki beef is thick steak pieces, not thin chewy flaps like a lot of other Asian food places, and the fried rice is the exact kind I like: no onions, or peas/carrots, or other oddball bits, just great rice fried in soy sauce with a little bit of chicken and egg. It's so good that the nearest equivalent is ice cream; that's the only way I can describe it. I'm so happy to have a place that does fried rice like this without trying to church it up with extra unnecessary ingredients. The chicken teriyaki is good as well, all white meat pieces, with just the right amount of teriyaki on em. I eat here probably every other day or so, cause it's cheap, it's tasty, and it's satisfying. No "hungry an hour later" effect either. I'm not a sushi fan, so I cant comment on that angle but the teriyaki alone is worth it. A+++, will eat here over and over again

Food was good. The garlic butter was great. The Yum yum sauce was watery but still great food. Large enough portion.

It isn't as good as a sit down hibachi restaurant but for the price and time it takes to get your meal it is well worth it.

They do have a dining room, but my order didn't give me an option to mark it "for here," which added to the confusion. Despite the place not being busy, it took about 25 minutes to get my food. When it finally arrived, the grilled cheese was a miss. It was served on a flatbread and came out rock-hard--so tough it was barely edible--like it had been overcooked. The soup did arrive with it, but the overall meal didn't feel worth the wait. Customer service was another weak spot. There wasn't much guidance or engagement, which made the ordering process and the delay more frustrating. I had high hopes for Soup Dive, but this visit was disappointing. If you've got plenty of time for lunch, you might give it a try, but it's not a great option for a quick bite. I'd love to see improvements in the ordering flow, speed, and food quality--there's potential here, but it didn't come through on this visit.

They hand make their dumplings as well as many of their items and it shows. The noodles are really good and not your prepackaged variety. In fact the noodles are excellent! We had their dumplings, wontons, pot stickers, two types of noodles, eggplant, beef rolls, and meat buns. The eggplant dish was so delicious! And their noodles with tomato egg tasted very much like tomato beef chow mein which we have on the West Coast. It was so good!! The type of cuisine is Taiwan or Northern style with lots of chili oil, but not overly spicy. The place is very clean! You order à la carte from a big menu at the counter. You get your utensils, bowls and plates from a table in the back but they bring your food to you. The service was quick, friendly, and excellent. Their specialty sub of the month was eggplant and I love eggplant. So I got that. They have some chips and drinks you can buy as well. And I decided since it's a hot sub I will eat there. It came out a few minutes later. Unwrapped and it was kinda messy but I am OK with that. Took a bite and the sauce is abundant. It's good sauce tomato not a lot of other seasonings I can taste. And bread is hearty. Need a hearty bread to stand up to the sauce. Eggplant was good. Could have used more cheese but it was good. The guy that made my sandwich checked on me and offered me a free cannoli. Who can pass that up! So I thanked him. The shop is not big but looks like it's a trendy area. Lots of restaurants and shops that are walkable. Parked in back or you can try your luck on the street. They have some tables and chairs and a booths kinda on the wall. Good to eat in. Going tomorrow to get another sandwich for lunch.

After graduating my girlfriend [now wife] and I would make it a point to try and eat at Matsu-Chan when in the area, even after our first kiddo, and eventually our second. Last year before one of our trips to the area my wife let me know that they were under new management and when I looked at the new menu, I was saddened that all of my favorite items were no longer present, and it seemed that my beloved little slice of Japan was now "just" a ramen shop. While my wife loves and can handle ramen and the broth, I would typically get the different rice bowls, or other entrees because while I love me some good ramen it doesn't work out well for me with the hour or so trip to the area. We'd get some rolls, takoyaki, and other appetizers to share around the table before digging into our main entrees. With the increased prices, and fewer options, I will end up going to any of the multitude of places [Aji-ten is usually our #2] to get my kick. I'll miss the little shop and the times I've had, like perusing the manga while waiting for a table. I wish the old owners the best, and the new management as well, especially if it was a familial transfer, but Matsu-Chan is not for me anymore. My wife will eventually get up there and let me know how it is, but for now, I'm just happy that a little bento shop opened near my workplace run by two first gen transplants, so I can at least get my fix without the drive.

I barely glanced at the menu; I already knew I was having the ramen. The only question was which one. My friend selected the eel bowl while I had the miso pork soup. The latter was served with sliced pork, bamboo shoots, fish cake, and seaweed. The broth was full of flavor; I enjoyed every slurp. I appreciated that the meal was sizeable and inexpensive - I was able to stretch it to two meals. We did not linger given the number of people waiting.
