Very fresh great sushi! AYCE
Binio L.

Oh wow! I didn't know what to expect but I was so pleasantly surprised. I did AYCE, and it didn't disappoint, quite the contrary. Everything was so fresh and tasty. I am glad I discovered this place as a new destination for me. Ond of the best egg rolls I've ever had, perfectly balanced, you can see the filling and taste it. There are two sides, I guess you must make it clear if you will do AYCE all you can eat sushi and more. Otherwise, the other side (really nicer one if you ask me is for a la carte restaurant). But my experience was amazing; food and service were superb, albeit very quiet, but I didn't mind. they actually preferred to enjoy each sushi bite. There is plenty off street parking and an easy Downingtown location.

*Indoor dining review* We came here as a BIG group for birthday party on Saturday evening, made reservation weeks in advance. While the food and show was good, service seemed to be disorganized and unprepared. Restaurant: 3/5 Service: 2/5 Food: 3/5 Parking: Free parking lot ~Restaurant~ The restaurant at first glance is very big. There are large number of hibachi tables and sections of non-hibachi tables. Restaurant has some very unique decors. ~Service~ As soon as we walked in, we saw a couple yelling at the hostess about how unacceptably slow it was, because another couple apparently arrived later but got seated before them. We thought "Uh oh..." Everyone was crowded between hostess stand and the bar, waiting to be seated. There definitely seemed to be miscommunication issue, and Management was nowhere to be found. Our reservation was for 7PM, but we did not get seated until after 8:30PM. Even after we sat down, and food ordered. There was no questions on what drinks we wanted or if we needed any water. Most of us ended up having to ask for water midway through our meals. ~Food~ We all ordered Hibachi combos (Chicken, Steak, Seafood..etc) All Hibachi items comes with Rice (White rice or fried rice) and Mixed Vegetables. Cooking presentation was great, our Chef was personable and playful. Proteins and Vegetables were cooked nicely, however the fried rice was very under seasoned. In conclusion, much like any Hibachi dinner I've been to. Food is mostly average, the main attraction is always the Cooking show happening right in front of you. It is great to bring anyone who has not been to a Hibachi and watch their reaction for the first time and wow them. But this experience as a whole however was less than ideal.

This place is huge and so cute. I took so many pics of the koi fish. We got hibachi and our chef was amazing. Nick was so cool and the food was great. The chicken, steak and shrimp was very flavorful. The rice was good too. Kind of annoying how the miso soup and noddles didn't come with the hibachi package, but they were good as well. The sushi wasn't the best, but it was alright. The spring rolls weren't great, but we still ate them. Definitely will be going back for the hibachi and hopefully we'll get Nick again!

We came here for my nieces' birthday, and the staff was so kind to them! The girls were given free ice creams and sang to for their birthday. They were also very accommodating of my seafood allergy. The filet mignon was cooked perfectly to medium rare, and the chicken was tender and juicy. The vegetables were crisp, and the fried rice was delicious as well. The front lobby is gorgeous, with koi fish swimming around (my nephew's favorite part!) I would definitely come back here again and recommend it for a family dinner.

Pretty typical hibachi restaurant. The show was good. The food was decent. The atmosphere especially the foyer gives the feel of Japan, with a waterfall and flowing koi pond. The downfalls are that it was not clearly marked and kind of hard to find. It took a while for us to get seated and have our chef/server come to our table. I was also missing the traditional yum yum sauce. The sauces provided were just ok.

Trio (steak shirmp and chicken). Delicious!

Getting two pieces of nigiri is not common, so that was a pleasant surprise. Crispy Sushi: 4/5 Chu toro: 4/5 Otoro: 4.4/5 Sake toro: 5/5 Service: 5/5 The service was great. The hostess wasn't at the front when I arrived, but an employee quickly greeted me and informed me the hostess would be there soon. The food came out in a reasonable time, plates were cleared quickly, and the servers were courteous. I asked for my nigiri to be torched and was it wasn't explicitly on the menu, they were able to honor that request. I appreciated the same sweet treat at the end as well. Atmosphere: This is a nice semi-intimate setting. There's a sushi bar and a standard dining room. I sat at the sushi bar and appreciated the personal service from the chefs. The decor was nice, light/bright colors with a minimalistic vibe. This would be good for date night, solo dining, a casual meal. Value: 4.5/5 Great value. Some items are a little pricey, but the service, and food quality and taste definitely make this a worth while option. Opportunities for Learning: 4/5 While the menu is a standard menu for a sushi restaurant, there are a variety of types of fish that would challenge your sushi knowledge. There are also other standard pan Asian items as well. Great opportunity to strengthen your knowledge of sushi and Asian cuisine.

Finally an AYCE sushi menu for Western Chester County!…read more I've eaten here before with both hibachi and sushi but they added an AYCE option for their delicious sushi. And for only $27 dollars adult dinner, that price cannot be beat. If you love AYCE sushi, Raku is the place to go.

I have visited this restaurant since it opened several years ago. We have survived multiple…read moremanagement shifts and, through loyalty, earned a VIP card offering 10% off each meal. We typically came once a month over the past few years, but that ends today. It was just my son and me on a quiet Monday evening, so we chose hibachi. Upon entering, we saw a new sign stating gratuity applies to parties of four or more--odd since the usual threshold is eight, but fine. We are only two and always tip. The wait staff was pleasant; she seemed new but handled her duties well. My son ordered steak and chicken, medium with noodles, while I chose steak, shrimp, and scallops, medium rare with noodles and rice. I brought wine, and he had flat water--simple and easy. The chef barely spoke or engaged with us, so apparently the hibachi "show" is gone. There was no seasoning on the food; I had to request lemon for my seafood and, for the first time, used soy sauce for flavor. Here is the disappointing part: my steak was meant to be medium rare and my son's medium, yet the chef served his first and then handed mine over immediately, so cooking temperatures are irrelevant now. My son received a mix of noodles and rice, as did I--not what we ordered. I also received chicken in my rice, which is fine but not requested. With no show, no interaction, and an incorrect meal, I accepted it. The chef had the nerve to shake his tip box at us twice. Right--not happening. The bill arrived at $75 or more, and I wondered what we had ordered. Then I noticed a 20 percent gratuity on the check. I asked the waitress, who explained it was new management's rule for hibachi. The more insulting detail came after I paid this mandatory tip: the receipt still included lines for suggested gratuity amounts. I requested the manager, who said hibachi carries a required tip. I pointed out the sign for four people but asked where the sign for two was; he admitted there was none. I told him they had lost our business. He tried to offer some odd explanation, but we simply took our leftovers and left. I told my son this $11 charge would hurt them through lost business from us and others reading this review. The decline in food quality over the years is unfortunate. A lazy chef who cannot follow orders is also unfortunate. Charging customers for a tip on a party of two without a sign is poor practice; when the business closes--or worse, becomes a buffet--I hope the $11 tip they forced on us was worth it. Our time with Raku is finished. It is sad. They used to be good. Now it is a pale comparison of what a good hibachi place used to be. I will spend my money elsewhere.
