This is a tough review for me to write because, as a business owner myself, I genuinely enjoy…read moresupporting other businesses and giving credit where it's deserved. Unfortunately, our experience with Sac Pool "Pros" has been extremely disappointing.
Before signing the contract, Eric, our salesperson, was awesome. He answered our questions and made us feel confident about moving forward with our $100,000+ pool project. However, once we signed that contract, communication slowed down significantly and eventually became almost nonexistent.
Let me share a few things we experienced throughout the build.
Before excavation, Eric insisted that our HVAC unit needed to be relocated because of Lincoln building codes. I found a contractor who quoted us $3,000. Thankfully, I double-checked with Eric before the contractor arrived, and it turned out we DIDN'T need to move it after all. Imagine wasting $3,000 because something wasn't properly verified. I even had to send them pictures of the area when someone could've simply come out and inspected it themselves.
During gunite, I noticed our Cabo shelf bubbler wasn't centered. I waited to see whether anyone would catch the mistake. Nobody did. I eventually emailed their office, and they corrected it. My advice? PAY ATTENTION to your build because you shouldn't assume everything is being inspected properly.
We didn't even know we were getting a saltwater pool until later. More importantly, Eric never explained that our water features couldn't operate simultaneously. Our sheer descents and bubbler work together, but when the spa and spillover are running, those features must be turned off.
We discovered this AFTER the pool was completed! When we asked, Eric told us we'd need another $2,000 pump to run everything together. For a $100,000+ pool, shouldn't that have been explained BEFORE construction?
One of our brand-new concrete slabs cracked just THREE DAYS after being poured. Getting them to replace it took approximately a month, and now the replacement slab doesn't match the surrounding concrete.
We also experienced discoloration in the deep end of our brand-new pool. Getting them to address it was like pulling teeth. They eventually performed another acid wash, which helped somewhat, but the discoloration is still noticeable.
Brandon, their pool startup specialist, has honestly been a nightmare to deal with. Poor communication, repeated cancellations, rescheduled appointments, and work that constantly needs correcting.
What really gets me is that he barely explained anything about our pool equipment. We were basically told everything was automated, and that was it.
Not only that, nobody even showed us how to use the app that controls our entire pool! The app is essentially the main control system for our pool equipment, including the spa and water features. Did anyone take the time to walk us through it or explain how everything works? NO.
Think about that. You spend over $100,000 on a pool, and the company doesn't even properly show you how to operate it. We were left figuring things out ourselves.
Then came the mastic sealant between our tile and concrete. He messed it up the first time, came back to fix it, removed portions of it, and somehow made it even worse the second time. We're STILL trying to get it corrected.
He was also supposed to drain our pool so the plaster crew could address the discoloration. He brought a pump, set it up, and left. Hours later, we noticed the water level hadn't moved. Turns out, the pump wasn't even working! We ended up draining the pool ourselves.
Dealing with Brandon has been one frustrating experience after another.
Our pool was completed in AUGUST. It's now the end of OCTOBER, and we STILL haven't had our final inspection. We're also still waiting for corrective work to be completed.
Final Thoughts
Look, I understand construction isn't perfect. Mistakes happen. As a business owner, I get it. But what separates a good company from a bad one is communication, accountability, and how they handle problems.
Sacramento Pool Pros promised us a quality pool and a great experience. Unfortunately, we got the complete opposite.
My advice? Inspect EVERYTHING throughout your build. Document everything and make sure the work is done correctly before making payments. Because in our experience, getting them to come back and fix their mistakes has taken weeks, sometimes months.
We spent over $100,000 trusting this company with our backyard, and instead of enjoying our finished pool, we're still chasing them to complete the job properly.
Would I recommend Sac Pool Pros? Absolutely NOT.
I genuinely wish we had chosen another company. Before signing the contract, we felt like a priority. After signing and making payments, we felt like an afterthought.
For the amount of money you're spending, you deserve better communication, better workmanship, and a company that stands behind its work.
Do your research before signing with them.
