If you want to get your hands on a bow and shoot under the guidance of a professional instructor, Hi-tech Archery is NOT the place to go. The equipment they sell there are definitely "Hi-tech," but as for the customer service and instructors, Hi-tech is as "low" as it gets.
When you walk through their, you'd expect SOMEONE to welcome you or even just acknowledge you coming in. But, no. Not at Hi-tech. The only one that notices you is the automatic beeper at the doors that beeps every time the door is opened. Not one of the numerous employees greet you. They are too busy doing something else (what else is more important than caring for their customers? Especially after spending thousands of dollars there, is it too much to ask for a simple greeting when I walk in?
After entering and making a right turn, walk straight in and you'll see the indoor archery range. Sometimes, the shooting environment is spectacular. There's a lot of nationally ranked archers who are willing to help you out if you need help (I've seen some national team members there too!). Everyone there is trying his or her best to shoot the dead center of the target. I love getting to watch them shoot and picking up some shooting tips here and there. Often, however, the place is packed with people who don't really care about shooting. They let their mouths do all the exercise. And the worst part? Once they're done letting their mouths blabber away, they realize they need to shoot, and they get onto the shooting line around the time everyone else is done shooting. They make you wait and wait...until they are done shooting. But that's fine. Talking is fun. I'm fond of talking and laughing, and hey, there's nothing like cracking jokes at the end of a grueling day of work. I like talking while I practice archery too, except I let my mouth run while I walk to retrieve my arrows.
And there's this big man with a green compound bow (he's not that good for a compound shooter) whose incessant and obnoxious laughs will test your patience. This man's laughter...oh boy. On top of that, he is mean. Very mean. Unless you're a hot girl, he will treat you like a nobody (that seems to be the motto for most male employee at Hi-tech). His haughty attitude is inexplicable! He carries a pungent odor and wears some torn t-shirt and dirty jeans...who does he think he is! He doesn't even know me! Sadly for Hi-tech...this man helps degrade Hi-tech even more (not that they need any help!).
I'm very sad to write such a negative review for the only indoor archery range in the area (there's one called "Archery Outpost" in Los Alamitos, right off the 605 and near the Los Alamitos High School...that place isn't all that great either, but their amazing customer service makes up for everything!) However, I feel that I must give everyone a heads-up before he or she decides to go check out Hi-tech Archery. You have been warned. At Hi-tech, you are basically on your own (unless you're an amazingly attractive looking girl! If you are...lucky you! Have fun getting all the attention from the old guys there!).
You have been warned... :) read more
