$20 class for an hour per person
Robert A.

Jeremy was a good instructor, had an awesome time. $20 per person for an hour class. Watch a 5min safety video in the beginning. Equipment included for class

I came here to get new strings-- top notch strings are $250 for replacement. A bit pricy but they did a good job on my Hoyt xt2000 Defiant bow and they have so many colors to choose from! Friendly staff! Also, great spot to learn archery-- $20 per lesson-- recurve bow, arrow, release rental all included in that price and you get to shoot for an hour!

The staff at Hi-Tech Archery are amazing. I'm new to Archery looking to go on my first bow hunt in the 2024 deer season. I explained to them I am brand new and they were extremely helpful educating me to all the different considerations of what bow to select for what I am looking to do. I opted for a PSE Drive NXT as it is a solid middle range bow for a beginner like myself. Jeremy was awesome he is a professional expert at its finest and expertly and quickly tuned my bow got it sighted in and spent a good amount of time with me on the range coaching me on how to shoot properly. I can't say enough about how grateful I am for the hospitality of the Hi Tech Archery staff. This will be my go to Archery shop for good! God bless!

Maybe not the worst for my very first time shooting!

I had a 3-4 hours to kill in the area and thought archery would be a great activity to fill the time. I found Hi-Tech Archery on Google Maps and took an intro class, which was $20 and lasted 1 hour. They provide all the equipment you need, which is really nice. It turns out, I actually like archery--or the instructor did such a good job that I wanted to keep shooting when class was over. After finishing and returning the intro equipment, I went downstairs to the pro shop and bought a bow, some arrows, an arm guard and a tab and went to the range to keep shooting. Overall, I had a great time. My aim and technique isn't the best, so I was off the yellow rings half the time. I even shot one arrow that completely missed the target and flew toward the back wall. Oops! But learning a new skill and being extremely focused was a great way to spend a chunk of the day. I found this place with zero knowledge or interest in archery, and now I've got some equipment to shoot with and plan to go back ASAP. If you have even a faint interest in archery, and you're within an hour drive of this place, I highly recommend going. Since I was new and it must have looked obvious while I was on the range, one of the instructors named Brock helped me further improve my technique and aim. He must have spent 30 minutes or so just hanging nearby and helping me. I felt a little bad because it was bordering on getting a free private lesson, but I greatly appreciated his generosity. So, thanks, Brock! Also, huge thanks to the lady in the shop who patiently got me set up with the correct bow size, arrow length and safety equipment. I wish I remembered her name. Because I found Hi-Tech on a whim, I wasn't too keen on spending a lot on equipment and she got me set up with everything I needed to have fun at a price less than some of the fancier bows.

Great local archery shop with gear, ranges, coaches, and introductory classes. I came here for my initial intro class and bought my first set recurve bow. The staff is very knowledgeable and the patrons are very friendly and helpful on the range. I know there are several classes for youth and weekly league. Overall, a great experience and amazing time!

When you call their phone, they announce themselves as the biggest archery store in California, so we were so excited to visit! Lots of gear here (although not that many target bows) and I ended up buying a quiver and a folding bow stand. Nice, helpful staff. Definitely worth a visit!

Mile Square Regional Park Archery Range

The MSP archery range is the best public range I've ever shot at. In fact, it's better than the…read moremajority of private ranges, too. Located along the Eastern side of Mile Square Park, along Euclid St, the range is a beautiful outdoor setting, with the entire length of the shooting lanes covered with a nice, big steel structure. There are 20+ lanes, starting with 10 yd bales on one end, going out to 70-80 yds on the other end, in 10 yd increments. There are also lanes with no bales for archers who want to bring their own targets, stands, etc. It is a popular spot for shooters, and is especially busy on the weekends, so be prepared that you may have to wait for a lane, or share a lane with your group. (And seriously, if you are going to a public range with a group of 4-5 people, do you EACH need your own lane? Be kind and share!) The bales are all foam, and do get replaced periodically as the middles get shot out. The range is generally not monitored by Park Rangers, so it is up to the shooters to self-manage the range most of the time. Also note that the Parks Service runs group lessons most Saturday mornings, and when the lessons are running the Parks staff will call out the range commands. When the range is busy, and when Parks is running group lessons, the range will be slow. If you are a fast shooter, bring enough arrows so you don't shoot your 6 then wait 5 - 10 minutes for the rest of the range to finish the round. (Conversely, don't shoot 20-30 arrows if the entire range is waiting on YOU to finish a round.) There is a paid parking lot ($5) inside the park, right next to the west end of the range. Entrance is on Euclid, almost to Warner Ave. Or, you can park along Euclid for free, and just walk in to the range (~200 yards walk through the park.) There are park restrooms behind the range if you need. The range itself is free to use. Overall a beautiful place to shoot your bow(s), well maintained, and vast majority of archers there are good, friendly types.

I didn't know we have this at all. Quite fun and very big and fun to do with friends and families…read more They do have their own parking lot with bathrooms nearby. The range is quite big with different distances for you to practice. Love it.

The front of the store has some gear for sale, and the store has a limited number of bows of varying draw weights and styles which are all suited for beginners. Coach is patient but disciplined and very straightforward. He knows what he is doing, but you will need patience as well. His English isn't 100% perfect, but he gets the point across. He is very knowledgeable about aspects of archery and will stop you on the line if he sees something that is fundamentally wrong with your shooting form. So if you are open minded and eager to learn, this is a great place to go. They also offer a club monthly membership for regular classes. Judging from Coach's knowledge, this could be a good avenue if you or your child wants to invest into archery as a sport. However, keep in mind that often times the chemistry between student and teacher has to be good.

Their "adult class" consist of persons as young as 13 years old. A man sized opponent really isn't fair to a person as young as 13, I fence epee. Also, I am not interested in fencing with children, but adults. that is not offered there. it's $230.00 a month for 3 times a week. That's rather costly to face the distraction of children. There are not many offerings in the area, so the lack of a true adult fencing program or club is problematic. Now, if this were for my children, I would absolutely recommend it, but this is for me. You' think that in San Diego County, there would be MORE available for adult fencers. The argument presented that there just isn't interest is absolutely false. It's just that adults aren't fencing because there aren't fencing clubs for us specifically. it's by it's nature not an expensive sport. but if I am going to pay in excess of $230.00 a month, it's going to have to cater to actual adult fencers. This said, I am very glad this is available to children, I was a child when I began fencing. It was a wonderful activity that kept me out of trouble and I had a lot of fun. In order to sign up for this, you have to go through the city Parks and Recreation departmental. In speaking with them, you can't possibly talk to a more unpleasant and unhelpful person. That experience detracts from the "class" altogether, which is why my ratings is only three stars compelling me to drive 2 to 3 hours away to OC or LACO so I can actually have the club experience that I want. I'm glad this program is available for kids, if you want your kid to train to fence, this is a great place. Champions will be made there. More on the coaches. Maestro Eric (Coach) is a responsive coach, and a very pleasant coach. Really upbeat and wants to address this. However, city parks makes this a real issue and are more geared toward children. Whereas I am interested in adult competitive olympic fencing. Without a doubt both coaches would be perfect to train me. But city parks and recreation make that impossible. However, should that ever change, I would very much like to see if going there to train would be a better fit for me as they are local and I am driving two hours to train now.
