I was very specific when I went in for mani-pedi, I wanted to keep the length on my fingernails, they were long and healthy and that's why I wanted a manicure. She said she was just going to trim them, she cut over a 1/4" off then, after smoothing the edges, literally started grinding my nail surface! I wasn't getting acrylic nails, just polish. I think it's important to be discerning when you read reviews. Business owners not loving having your poorly-behaved gaggle of children causing havoc in their place of business is on you. Your nail(s) coming off/chipping within 1-2 days is on you (they do the same exact thing for every customer--if you have very long naturals nails/acrylics, they will take more abuse, moisturize too often, take a shower soon after having your nails done, are generally hard on your nails, etc, your mani will not last long). That said, I have never, EVER had polish last as long as when I had them done from this place. I am very active & accept that my activities are not conducive to nail polish, so when they chip within 1-2 days, it doesn't bother me (I'm sorry, but ladies, they are JUST NAILS). I went downhill mountain biking at Thunder the day after I had these done & not one chip. They are beautiful and perfect still after 2 weeks. They do have a good selection of nail polishes, various colors and brands. The service was fast and professional. I'm hoping they clean their tools after they are done with their patrons, because I did not see that while I was there. I got a nail polish change on my toes ($10). I uploaded a photo - not the best job, I could probably have done just as well. I got a gel manicure ($26) with a small design on my ring fingers (added $4). It seemed like a fair price to pay. My first time in 3 years getting gel nails. Full set was basically 50-60$ which looked decent. The girl who did my nails was super quiet and didn't seem to want to talk at all, which I was fine with. When she was done, it didn't look the gel on my thumbs reached my cuticles but everything else was fine. Didn't say anything though. 1 week later they look grown out, and then one gel popped completely off. I then called and ask of they could fix it. It sounded like I was talking to the owner. Very sweet. I told her that my nails looks pretty grown out too, and she said to come in so that she could take a look first. I came in. Not busy. 3 clients. The person (owner) was doing someone else's nails. I told them I was the one who called about the broken gel and possible fill. (Don't think she heard the fill part) and she told me to sit at a booth where a man, (also quiet) fixed my nail. He told me I was done, where I was then confused and asked "what about the fill?". Which by the way, I never really say anything because it gets me nervous but this time I wanted to exercise that. I am the lease confrontational person. He looked up at the owner in confusion. The owner started getting loud with me saying, "I never once mentioned a fill. It's only been a week, you don't need one." Mind you, she didn't even look at my hands. I showed her my thumbs which were pretty grown out and asked her, calmly, "so you're telling me these look okay?" Her client even looked at it like, uh... She told me it was completely fine! and I said, "okay, well if the OWNER says these are fine, then what do I know." While she kept arguing with me, she kept saying if I wanted a fill they can do it, but I wasn't about to have some guy do my nails in silence let alone after being scolded and yelled at. I gave them their money and walked out. Told them to have a nice day. That same day, ANOTHER nail popped off. Yeah. So if you want to be scolded, have your nails look like you need a new fill the day you get a new set of gel nails, AND have them pop off in a week! Go right ahead. See photos read more

Upon my recent move to the Western MA area I was in desperate need of a new nail salon. Making the almost 2 hour drive back to outside Boston every 2 weeks for a fill and pedicure while very tempting, wasn't necessarily realistic. A few of my friends referred me to Hi-Shine. I must say, the acrylic full set, and the one fill I received from them was actually quite good. My full set and the following fill both lasted 3+ weeks, which is a bit astounding for me. The couple of pedicures I received were a bit lack luster, the polish coming off within a week of receiving it. They manager kept making snarky comments when I pointed out nail shape. She continues to do my nails even though I had said numerous time it's not what I wanted. As a customer for several years now ( I came here to get a previous hack job fixed by Van and have never gone anywhere else since) and I am a bit surprised by some of the more negative reviews. I only come here for a reason. My nails come out PERFECT every time, as well as my toes. I get a gel set with gel polish and these nails literally stay on so long, sometimes with not a single polish chip, for well over a month. I can be slow to fill them sometimes but they still don't budge and I have even gotten compliments on my polish 6 weeks after a visit, despite being overdue. It is not their fault if someone's nails grow faster, and many things can effect the nails/polish like cleaning products for one. Unfortunately you cannot please everyone but as you will see from many other reviews as well that tons of people stated they won't go anywhere else ever and are very pleased. I went to a spa in town which was a gift one time to get a pedicure and the moment I walked in there I was not welcome because taking gel off was too much work for my technician apparently, and after that, i was glad that I never had to go back since it was gift, and I will continue to go to Hi Shine. And by the way, it's typically not a GREAT idea to bring a group of kids with you while your hands are being worked on and you can't do anything to control them, nevermind the pandemic environment. Ask for Van to do your polish and you won't be disappointed. Went in for an acrylic set which is $25 while a shellac manicure is $26(Umm what..? Makes no sense to me but ok) I've only had gel sets prior(at other places). Not a very smooth look. Few nails have an uneven, crevices texture by the cuticle. And I feel like they purposefully left more space than necessary between cuticle and the fake nail. It's been a little over one week (my nails don't grow fast) but it looks like it's been significantly longer judging by the spacing. I went to hi shine Friday with a huge bridal party we where so rushed in and out after having a appointment for over a month. It  was not even that enjoyable I have never had such a fast pedicure in my life. It was 10 mins tops. Then on to nails I had a full gel set which was not really what I wanted they cut them so short. We where basically yelled at for bringing our children there because of a mask mandate, mind you they all had mask on. We paid a outrageous amount for a very low quality of work and service. As they where doing my nails the lady even said we don't rush we are not in it for the money that's a complete lie they are only in it for the money because they had 4 people right after us booked running around like crazy. I had my nails for 2 days and the day of the wedding one broke which should have never happened. My sister nail broke off today 4 days old where they should last 2 to 3 weeks. I went to Hi-Shine with my bridal party to get our nails done. There were 9 of us, so I was worried that they might not have enough staff even though we made an appointment. I was pleasantly surprised! They had everything set up and ready for us when we got there. Everyone was excellent, my nails turned out beautifully, and the staff was so nice. I'd recommend! I read the reviews and decided to give this place a try. I have to state that i've never felt the need to write a review ever in my life no matter how bad the service is. But this place is a new level. I called and made an appointment for a regular mani-pedi. After my toes they decided that they would no longer have time to do my nails today. I ended up paying $25 for my pedicure when a mani-pedi is $35... and they told me to come back a different day to get my nails done? Also, my pedicure lasted about 10 minutes and the woman didn't even put a top coat on my toenails... just polish. My nails were filed crooked and look terrible. i've literally never had this happen at a nail salon ever and have to say this was the worst experience. do not recommend despite other positive reviews. read more

I really wanted to like this place because I live close by. I went three times and will never go back. The first two times were okay. The things I didn't love then were the atmosphere. It was cold, and the lighting is terrible. There are TVs on. The second time, the tech repeatedly asked me if I was Asian (I am half) and asked if I spoke any Asian languages. Then she relayed this information to another tech, after which they proceeded to speak in their language at length. She also stopped my manicure to make calls on her cellphone. The last time was the final straw. I arrived 15 minutes early for my appointment, and they rushed me through picking my polish. Then she criticized my color choice. Why do you care? Lastly, the tech kept burning my fingers when using the dremel to remove my gel polish. I told her it hurt and kept pulling my hands back, but she just gripped harder! Ive heard good things about Hi Shine Nails so I figured I'd give it a try. I was told Van is the owner and she does a great job so ask for her. I did. When I sat down she barely spoke to me. She told me 2 different higher prices for acrylic and gel full set than were on the price board. I asked for the gel set and hoped the experience would get better. It didn't. She went so fast that it seemed like she didn't care at all how they were coming out. Barely spoke to me through the whole experience. And when she asked how they were coming out I told her a few things I didn't like and she just laughed! Then I picked out a color and she painted them a lighter one saying when they dried it would darken. It didn't. The nails were thick and unnatural looking. I was hugely disappointed. This time, I made an appointment (they are always so busy- so I would highly recommend that!) and my mom and I got pedicures. We had to wait- but we were early for our appointments so that was expected.
