Worst experience ever! It was obvious that the person who was working on me had absolutely no idea what she was doing for a Pedi. She wielded the clippers inexpertly, and ended up splitting my nail, and then had to cut it down to the quick -- my nail looks like some animal gnawed on it. To add Insult to injury, they forced my daughter (who was there as well) to pay for half of my pedicure, even though I had walked out. Inexcusable. Really bad business practice. An apology and a coupon for a free pedi would have gone a long way toward making me feel that they regretted what had happened, though I wouldn't dream of going there again. Best pedicure I've ever gotten. The standard pedicure is very thorough and even includes the sue of hot stones! Bonus the massage chairs. I love getting manicures here too, they never disappoint. They have a large selection of gel polish with some fun options as well as a good selection dip colors. It can get pretty busy but I've called day of and still been able to get an appointment but I do recommend calling ahead of going if possible, just makes it easier on everyone. Plus I think they have good rates for their services. Sad to be moving away from this place once graduation roles around. read more

I had a wonderful experience getting a powder dip manicure today as usual. I've been coming here every 4-6weeks for over a year. I'm always very happy with my 'new look'. Lisa has wonderful suggestions for colors and styles. I've had ombré, rhinestones and just plain solid. I also like to change the shape every now and again. I like the coffin shape as well as stiletto. Today I had my nails trimmed a bit. I can text/type better but love my nails long. They'll grow. Prices are right and the staff is always pleasant. Walked in here on a Friday afternoon around 1.30PM without an appointment. I wanted to get a gel manicure, which is at an alright price of $25. The place seems fairly clean and new, and they have a pretty wide range of gel nail colors to pick from. The service started with smoothing my nail bed with a machine, filing and cleaning with nail soak. In between each step, my manicurist was busy running about answering the phone and scheduling appointments for other customers. The whole service felt very rushed, and she didn't cut my nails well too. The paint job wasn't great either since I came out with numerous tiny bubbles under the color and a few smudges below my nail. No scrub or massage is included in the $25 manicure service. I was in and out in probably around 25 minutes. There is a loyalty card of $5 off after 10 visits. In overall, I was really excited to try this place and love the color selection, but really did not enjoy the rushed service that day. read more

I have been coming here for a few years now and absolutely love it! I have done regular polish, gel polish, and my new favorite powder dip. Recently, I had fake nails for my wedding, which killed the integrity of my natural nails. However, with Star Nails and powder dip, I have gotten the natural strength of my nails back! Getting gels in the past, I have gone to places where they use the Dremel (they do this with powder dip too) and go down so far it burns you nail bed; weakening your nails. However, I have not experienced this here. The ladies are amazing and can take you on a walk in or with an appointment. I even loved that I once booked an appointment with one person but she moved me to a different nail technician because she was willing to say the other person was better at powder dip ombre than she was. She cared more about me loving my nails than her ego! I really appreciate that the staff are willing to address any concerns with how the polish looks, my nail shape, etc. all you have to do is say something! Looking around while getting your nails done is definitely something I've done. In terms of cleanliness, I have seen sanitized tools come out of fresh bags and even a sanitizing machine. I appreciate the staff works to keep the tools so clean as an infection is something I don't feel like I have to worry about here. Overall, I would recommend this place! Check it out and I don't think you will be disappointed! The only bummer is they are closed on Monday's. But hey, everyone needs a day off. read more

I am sad to say I don't have many good things to say about this place. After walking in it was very nice, comfortable, and waited for a few minutes before I sat and explained i wanted an acrylic fill, keeping the coffin shape, and a fix pinky nail. However, I left with a blister, and stubby uneven thumbs, but coffin nonetheless. The woman I had didn't seem to know how to even go about filling my nails in because she kept having a conversation and mentioning "coffin nails", then asked me more than once where I had got them previously done and i repeatedly answered. She was aggressive with how my arm was situated, to where it was uncomfortable for me to sit. It took almost 2 hours for a FILL which normally only takes about 30minutes, if that. Perhaps this is a good place for simple nails and manis and pedis, but I was very uncomfortable and disappointed. Both ring fingers received a brutal shaping with a rough nail file, which I now have blisters on both and are very sensitive. Fortunately this is not my normal place, it was just a crossing-my-fingers stop because my nails were very grown out, and my normal place wasn't open. Other than a beat down on my fingers and arms, everyone else seemed to enjoy themselves, so perhaps this just wasn't a good day for my woman. read more

Best place in Amherst/Hadley area! The owner and her sister do a great job running a fabulous business. I recommend making appointments because they will not rush with customers that they are already taken care of to help with walk-ins. They are great and if something messes up the next day. Go back! I did some quick research to see where the best pedicure was close to me in Whately and up cam e Star Nails. The store is located in a small strip mall and doesn't have much curb appeal. I did make an appointment and thankfully I did as they were quite busy (Sunday on Mother's Day) my husband and I had the Spa Pedi and it was delightful. My husband was quite pleased with the work they did and time spent massaging even though they were busy. My manicurist was very kind and made me feel comfortable. Her massage could have been deeper but was relaxing either way. Pricing was reasonable! We will be back! read more

Pretty decent experience, pretty good prices for dip powder ($35). They don't have much dip powder options to choose from, however they have much more gel and regular polish options available. Got a pedicure too, they have different options for pedicures, went for the basic which was okay. They use dish soap and very watered down lotion. They reuse a lot of tools too, no disposable barrier in the water bath though. For the dip powder, the woman doing my nails didn't really ask if they were too bulky, how I would like them filled or anything really. It has been two days and one nail chipped a little so it was a bit disappointing. My friend had a not so good experience with one of the older workers there, she was very rude. I honestly wish they had said they didn't have availability because the whole experience was extremely rushed. I wanted a regular manicure. She filed my nails and left them super rough. After buffing they left the dust on and just put the polish over leaving bubbles all over my nails. She also left too thick of a layer on my thumbnail so it ended up not drying properly and smudging. She did the whole manicure in less than 10 minutes and not at all relaxing. Wish I could get my $15 back. read more

I had a very poor experience at Star Nails. Though they took me without an appointment, my manicure was rushed, poorly done, and NOT a relaxing experience. First off, I'm extremely surprised to have read reviews before my visit here saying the salon was clean, because that was not my experience at all; when I arrived for my manicure, NONE of the towels/cloths at the station were changed from the person before me -- I could even see someone else's clipped cuticles on the towel at my station. It was truly disgusting, between that and the thick layer of acrylic dust covering every surface in sight; I should have saved myself the trouble and gotten up from the station when I saw it like that. The actual manicure was rushed, all my nails were crooked, and the polish was unevenly applied. I walked away from the station with smudges from my technician, but I didn't say anything because I wanted to leave ASAP. One of the most shocking things to me was that one of the employees' child was in the shop while they worked, and was watching YouTube videos on an iPad at full volume. My technician repeatedly yelled (in my ear) for the kid to turn down the iPad, to no avail. The child even came up to my technician multiple times during my service to whine and ask when they'd be done. The child even jostled my chair and hovered around me. How this place can call themselves a 'spa' with that kind of thing going on is beyond me... Overall, I would recommend you not come here. The service is cheap, sure, but not worth your time and effort. I ultimately went home and took off all the polish immediately because my manicure looked so bad -- don't waste your $12 like I did. read more

You can't find a cleaner place than this. The newest gel products are used if requested, so your nails last for weeks. I felt surrounded by compassionate people who speak English very well. I think it's an ideal location for a party with friends, and because the prices are competitive, I'd feel secure that my guests were sure to have a terrific time without 'breaking-the-bank'. read more

I checked this place out because it had great reviews and everyone seemed to like it. Considering I go to school in Amherst, I have a hard time finding a nail salon for a good price that does a good job. I was charged $35 for an acrylic full set (regular manicure, not gel). Which is $10 extra from what I normally pay for a regular full set. I can only imagine how much a gel full set is. I walked out and my nails did not match. Some were longer and some were shorter than others. I asked for coffin shape nails, they looked almond. Not even a week later I had 3 broken nails and 2 loose ones. I do not understand what the hype about this place is the prices are too high and the nail results were extremely disappointing. I wish I could get my money back. read more
