The worst pedicure I've ever gotten. The polish underneath was left, she did layers and layers trying to fix the lumps and there's so many air bubbles and the polish turned clumpy. I asked if the water could be warmer cause it was freezing, she said no and when I asked to take more of the polish off before painting cause I knew it would be too clumpy, she said she couldn't. I went with my friend who did a dip manicure and she also has crooked nails and one hand was shiny while the other turned matte because they rushed us out. We did walk in but I wish they told us they didn't have the time rather that taking us and making us wait an hour and not telling us it would be an hour before the started. Will never go back. If I could put 0 stars i would. I came in and received a gel pedicure with 4 acrylic toes. They first told me my nail was too small for an acrylic and then afterward admitted that he had basically double booked. I continuously let him know the acrylic nail was not on properly and he dismissed my concern. Every time I would speak, they made me out to be some angry black lady that was about to pop off. I left the salon with several chips across all toes, there is nail polish everywhere on my feet and the acrylic toes look so crooked, you would think my niece did them. I went here a few times last year for gel manicures- quick, OK job, good to get in and out on a lunchbreak. Being 8 months pregnant, I decided to treat myself to a pedicure before the baby arrives. What a horrible, horrible experience! First, I was sat in a massage chair that was obviously stopped mid-massage, so I had awkward balls poking into my back the entire time. I was sat immediately, before the water even filled up, and told to put my first foot up. Not a good start. While getting my toenails clipped I was actually cut on my big toe, which made the entire process very painful from that point on. Then it came time for filing. In between each toe, the nail tech dug her razor sharp nails into my nailbeds. It felt like she was sanding down my actual toes vs the nail itself... very uncomfortable. There was no exfoliant or anything on the feet or legs, just watered down lotion. The painting of the toes took over 30 mins- no lie. I could tell mistakes were being made but I didn't known how bad it was until she finished. She ushered me over to the dryer never to return. I was going to ask her to fix my jacked up pinky toe (how can one screw up a pinky toe? I've never seen such a thing) but she never came back from the back room. After 10 mins I stood up and walked up to the cashier. See images of my two big toes- this should never be the case just hours after paying $25 for a "pedicure." I shouldn't have left a tip at all but I left a few dollars (regretfully). It's a shame that I am going to have to go somewhere else to get them repainted. Definitely won't bet back here. read more

I payed $63 for a set of acrylics on bare nails, and two of them are already falling off, the thumbs are not the same shape or length, and almost all of them are chipping already and it's been 3 days. Don't go here. I went here once for a gel manicure ($25) and another time for a regular manicure ($14). Both trips were sub par and left my nails looking like I did them myself. My cuticles weren't shaped at all and during my regular manicure, and I was absolutely rushed through the process. I understand that the staff was short workers the day I came, but honestly--if you're going to charge $14 for a manicure, at least make it last more than 10 minutes. Bottom line: don't go here. I'm not cheap when it comes to my nails; if the job is well done I think it's always worth the money. It's really agitating to see them looking subpar after dishing out close to $20 to get them done. I wanted to like this place. My pedicure was good and they do a quick hot stone massage which was nice. It gets one star because my gel manicure was terrible. It started with him putting tips on 3 of my nails that weren't quite long enough (after he filed them!). He did not place or secure the tips well at all. The next day the tips were completely separated from my nails. I went back and was told they couldn't do them over because of how he did it. Her solution? Hack my nails down where it separated from the tip and put a glob of glue. Well guess what? All have separated once again and one of them popped off less than 24 hrs later. I now have a single morning to find a nail salon to redo all of my nails before my brother's wedding. Btw I'm in Virginia. Never going back here. read more

I used to go here all the time because they were better than most of the places around, but VIP has gone very down hill. Ive been getting acrylic on my nails for years and up until a week ago I had never broken a single nail, but after only five days of having my nails done here, I broke one. As of today that number is up to THREE broken nails. They put acrylic so so so thin on nails so they break easy, and to make it worse, they put the top coat on really thin too, so it peels and looks horrible. I've been here quite a few times and the majority of my visits have been really crappy. (FYI I posted this review on Google as well) All the people in this salon care about is quantity over quality. I usually will get a fill for my acrylics. I visit from out of town and my sister in law is generous enough to pay for it so I don't usually complain, however - my last 2 visits to this salon have been absolute crap. One visit I got a polish change and literally 2 hours later my gel polish was peeling off. They didn't use a base coat which for some reason they believe they don't need to. My nail tech back in boston says that you should always use a base coat with gel polish on acrylic or it will peel. Go figure. They changed the couple nails the next day and literally peeled again in hours. At that point I was like this nail salon SUCKS. The next time I went I got a fill from either an inexperienced or lazy nail tech who made them horribly chunky and didn't even file them smooth. There were lumps and bumps. Literally the worst fill I have EVER gotten. I also got a pedicure that day too. I hadn't had a pedicure in quite some time so I had a lot of callus build up. The girl buffed my feet for all of 30 seconds and that was it. I asked to please buff more of the sides of my toes to get the dead skin off. She straight up said "No, that takes a lot of time." Then what the f*ck am I paying you $25 for?!!? To paint my toes? They looked no different and I later took an hour at home buffing all the dead skin off. Absolutely horrible customer service. You constantly have to point out things they missed, and even my Sister-in-law says they're "ok". I just got a "spa" pedi and had to ask 2 times to buff my feet more. It's ridiculous. I will NEVER let them touch my nails again. When I went back to my nail tech after the last fill there, all my nails were lifting and I ended up having to get a whole new set. Just goes to show how sh*tty of a salon there is. Don't waste your money and time here!! Too many bad experiences. Again, quantity over quality. I posted a couple pictures of my nails and you can see how absolute crap they are. Extremely chunky, horribly painted and clearly they are inexperienced or don't give a sh*t. They do such a good job and are kind. They are always very busy but do their best to accommodate. Never been disappointed. There's a review from Hana here--they were doing my nails when she called to complain. As the tech was in the middle of my mani when she called, she was on speakerphone. She demanded a refund after not being satisfied with her acrylic toes, though they had told her it wasn't a good idea (she insisted). When they said they could only refund her $10 for the color, as they cleaned and groomed her feet, her tone changed. Suddenly, the narrative became that they were discriminatory towards her on the basis of race. She hadn't mentioned anything like that until she didn't get the full refund she wanted. She threatened to post about them and "ruin their business." It's not cool to threaten someone's livelihood because you didn't like your nails (that you demanded against their advice). Especially not cool to accuse discrimination only when not given a refund. Accusations like this only undermine real issues out there. I'll be coming back to VIP for my nail needs in Amherst! read more

My daughter and I made an apt and when we got there we were told to sit down - and then given colors to choose from-only my daughter was given choices by the way. After 10 mins someone came up and said to me "Oh, are you getting something done?" Well, this would be why I made an apt for 2! Then we were told it would be a few mins. I had called 3 days before to make an appointment and the woman on the phone confirmed everything with me, and when I arrived on the day, the staff couldn't find my appointment in the book. I had to wait for maybe 20-25 minutes to be seen, so at this point I'm already annoyed since I had called ahead to avoid waiting. The lady that was doing my nails was rushing, and was really aggressive while filing and buffing. She didn't glue down the tips for my full set completely, so they were barely touching my real nail. The acrylic was applied way too thick and the bumps were not filed down. The polish was fine. At the end, she didn't apply any oil or lotion to my hands even though she had filed and buffed my nails like crazy. I left with drier cuticles/hands than when I had come in. I have been getting acrylic nails for years now, and they have never come out that lifted and thick before. Not the worst nail salon I've been to, but definitely never coming back. read more

Worst manicure and pedicure I've ever had. Paid for deluxe pedicure and gelish french manicure. My cuticles are a mess, scraggly and worse than before I went. She didn't take all my polish off. Now it's under my gelish. She wasn't looking when applying oil, so she missed my fingers several times, there is paint all around my fingers because she wouldn't clean up where she painted on my fingers and cuticles. Horrible pedicure. She scrubbed my foot for 30 sec each. Has the appearance of clean but they don't use a sanitizer, just windex. So displeased. read more

I have only been here once-- It was a random walk-in experience for a gel mani. The Good: They worked me in to their schedule and I only waited 15 mins, and it was a Saturday. The lady who did my nails was very friendly and they had a wide variety of gel colors. Also-- the prices are good! The Bad: My gel mani barely made it one week. I had lifting in the cuticle area on my middle finger after 2 days. My mani peeled right off. I had used OPI Gel which I also had that experience with before in the past-- who knows. The Ugly: This still kinda bothers me. I was on the fence about reporting VIP nails. They seem to be very clean about the instruments, and towels. HOWEVER, the lady who did my nails accidentally nipped me pretty good with the cuticle clippers. She blamed it on my cuticles being dry, but in reality-- she went over way too far, it was my skin that she clipped. My finger wouldn't stop bleeding all over my my fingertip and on to my nail. I think she was getting annoyed that it wouldn't stop bleeding because she eventually gave up on trying to stop the bleeding. While she went to paint my nails she knowingly ran the polish brush through the blood. I could see the blood on the nail brush and she just kinda dabbed the glob of blood on to the towel and then continued painting. That just-- doesn't seem right to me. I mean she ran it through my blood, dabbed it and then put it back in the bottle. I know there is a lot of chemicals in polish to probably kill all the cells-- but still. Lastly--- When she was finished, she only massaged one hand and not the other. She massaged the hand that was bleeding and I was kind upset when she started running her bare fingers over my fresh "boo-boo". I hope she washed her hands after rubbing her hands in my blood. Side-note: I have no diseases-- But that's not the point! Gross. Also, the lady's name was "G". I think she is really sweet but might need to be educated on blood-borne pathogens. read more

(Really more a 3.75 star review) Went for a simple nude manicure today. The lady was very nice and did a good job. She left one crooked edge on one of my nails, but nothing I can't fix later. The place is super clean and there are lots of colors to choose from for both regular polish and gel polish. The prices are very high. I paid $13 for just a simple manicure. Nothing special. To be clear - here is what their basic manicure consists of: removal of nail polish on your nails, file to desired shape, push back and clean cuticles (the lady did a REALLY good job on this part!), buff, massage with lotion, massage with hot towel, and final polish application. They offer a "luxury" manicure also. Not sure what that includes. Overall, it was a good manicure experience taking about 20-25 minutes. read more

This is my go-to nail place in Amherst. Not only is it convenient and reasonably priced, but the staff are super friendly and do a great job. I regularly get pedicures here and the facility is clean, there is rarely a long wait, and I never feel rushed or gipped like I have at some other busy nail salons. I also typically come here to get my eyebrows waxed which can be a harrowing experience, but the woman who does it is so nice and goes out of her way to make sure that the pain is a limited as possible. They really put in the extra attention to make it as pleasant of an experience as having hair ripped out of your forehead can be. My artist, a young male who's worked there for many years, always does a perfect job with finding the perfect shade(needed perfect color for prom) or finding something new! The whole establishment is so cozy and comfortable.
