    New handle!
    Susan J.

The hot water in my shower started leaking overnight and my regular plumber was too busy to come in on an emergency basis, so he recommended Jacob Peterson of HI Grade Plumbing, who was able to come later the same day. Jacob was fitting me in his busy schedule, and he was good at keeping me updated on when he was going to be able to come over. After checking out the valve, he determined that the problem was corrosion in one of the pipes inside the shower (my house is over 100 years old, so sudden repairs are not unexpected) and that he was going to need to drill into the tile and fix the problem at the source. He recommended a single handle model and was very professional in installing it, including cleaning up the mess from cutting through the tile. Because he needed to go out and buy the hardware, he was not able to complete the repair in one day, so he showed me how to turn the hot water off at the heater so the leak would stop until he could come back. He pointed out to me that the pipe leading off of the water heater was corroded and leaking slightly. I asked him to give me an estimate on fixing that too. I thought the prices that I was quoted were reasonable, especially considering that it was on an emergency basis and so I greenlighted the hot water pipe repair too. My shower looks great and the leak is history. Here are the before and after photos. I am very happy with the completed work, and would not hesitate to hire Jacob again!

Ugly white spout, poor job at caulking by 1st plumbing company
    Lisa H.

I highly recommend Jacob of HI Grade Plumbing. There are many plumbers we used throughout the years, and so far, he is the BEST. We had a well known plumbing company do some work on our shower, and gave us a hideous white spout which didn't match our shower and did even a more hideous caulk job. Jacob fixed our leak and replaced our shower fixtures and they all look like we just bought our 27 year old home! He also fixed a leak under our kitchen sink. Pros: 1. PROMPT: tells you in advance when he is on his way, and gives ETA. If he is tied up at an earlier job, he will contact you to notify you as to when he'll be able to make it to your home. 2. THOROUGH: checks EVERYTHING that could be wrong, and informs you of good and bad news. 3. HONEST: I trust him in my home!! He tells you exactly what is needed, and gives a good estimate. 4. NEAT: He had to make an access hole on the other side of our shower. No debris, clean and tidy! He removed shower head, spout and valve, and our bathroom was clean after all the work he did! 5. COURTEOUS and HELPFUL and OTHER THINGS: Graciously gives tips on how to prolong life of valves. He is born and raised on Oahu, and youthful, so I imagine he will be around for many years to come. 6. REASONABLE PRICES: Yes. Need I say more? CONS: None.

I met the sales rep on site and will be having them install a water meter later this year when tenants have moved out. Quick response!

I couldn't even figure out how to stop the water from coming out and within minutes water was pouring down the stairs and leaking into the floors below the kitchen. After calling everyone I could think of, including the board of water supply, with no one providing any help, I typed in "plumbers" into Yelp and started cold calling down the list. First Class Plumbing was the third company listed but the first one that seemed to care. I was warned that I was calling after hours so I'd have an emergency fee if I wanted service now... I joked "fine - this is an emergency" and was told I'd get a call back as soon as they could get ahold of one of their plumbers. I went back to trying to heave buckets of water into a nearby sink and received a call back 15 minutes later. The plumber was so calm, and after hearing that I was still dealing with gushing water, explained to me how to stop the water flow. He asked me to send him pictures of the burst pipe and the faucet and got off the phone to price everything out including replacing the pipes and faucet. After doing all that work he told me what the cost would be and then said it was no worries if given the price I didn't want to continue on - or at least wait until it wasn't an emergency (an extra $150 charge). I said I definitely wanted the service and he came right out and fixed the burst pipe. I would already have been raving about this place for their competent service if it had been a normal scheduled appointment. But the fact that this company and the plumber were there for me when no one else was, and went above and beyond walk me through how to stop the problems and extremely quickly look into part costs for me before I ever even agreed to the service has made me a loyal customer forever!

I spoke with Ana and explained my plumbing issue, then emailed her a photo of the problem area. She quickly identified that it involved replacing my PRV, isolation valve, and irrigation valve. They provided a clear quote over the phone, scheduled the appointment within a few days, and completed the job seamlessly. Whitley arrived on time, was professional, courteous, and a pleasure to talk to. It was fun chatting football with him -- he comes from an impressive football family! His dad, Vili, was the University of Hawai'i football team's official Warrior mascot during the Colt Brennan era. Highly recommend this company for their fair pricing, excellent communication, and top-notch workmanship.

But after Jaren took a careful look and walked me through what he was seeing, I decided to move forward with it--and I'm genuinely glad I did. What stood out right away was how professional, thorough, and patient Jaren was from start to finish. Like many of the Yelp reviews say, he doesn't rush, he doesn't cut corners, and he doesn't talk down to you. He took the time to answer my questions in a way I could fully understand--even as someone who knows almost nothing about plumbing. That kind of clear communication matters, because it turns a stressful situation into something manageable. And here's the part that really earned my respect: he didn't oversell. When it came to the water heater, he didn't just point to the age and say, "Replace it." He explained why it mattered, what could happen if I waited, and how upgrading certain older plastic/PVC materials to brass could save me money and headaches down the line. It wasn't pressure--it was education. It felt honest, practical, and grounded in what was best for my home. He was also incredibly flexible. On the same day he worked in my unit, the building complex was dealing with additional plumbing repairs by another company, and it created delays and coordination challenges. Still, he stayed calm and professional. He was at my place from about 8:00 AM to 6:30 PM, and while I felt bad that it was such a long day, it reassured me even more--because it was clear he wasn't rushing. He was making sure it was done right. The results speak for themselves. His work is clean, organized, and flawless, and the difference is obvious when I compare my updated plumbing setup to other units I looked at before he worked on mine. His attention to detail is on another level. I also want to give a big shout-out to Arley for her help when I first reached out to JGR Plumbing. She kept me updated, provided clear estimates, and communicated Jaren's arrival time for the initial unit check. That kind of responsiveness makes a big difference when you're trying to coordinate repairs. Finally, I have to mention the pricing: for the amount of work completed and the level of quality and professionalism Jaren delivered, the cost was very reasonable and fairly priced for this type of work. If you want a plumber who shows up with skill, integrity, and pride in their work--someone who treats your home the way they'd want theirs treated--I strongly recommend JGR Plumbing.

The work was done cleanly and correctly, which gave me immediate peace of mind. I'll admit I was a little nervous about the cost at first, but it was absolutely worth it for the quality of work and the reassurance that everything was handled properly. He was prompt, professional, and very organized throughout the entire process. I also appreciated that he took the time to spot-check my water heater and share helpful maintenance insight without any pressure. I've added JGR Plumbing to my go-to list and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for reliable, honest plumbing work.

This is a family owned and operated business in Mililani that specialize in water heaters. They are fast, friendly and efficient and even haul away your old heater at no extra cost, what more can you ask for!? I called Friday morning around 8:30am and they were at my place around 12:30pm. Come to find out my water heater was less than 6 years old. They offered to stop working at no charge if I wanted to reach out to the previous installer since I should be under warranty. I declined because my experience with the previous company wasn't the best and they were already there. Martin offered a $100 discount because he felt bad that we were having to get a new water heater so soon. I was very grateful for his kindness and it made me even happier that I was able to support this small family run local business. The job was done in about an hour and Martin even helped me register my water heater online. He told me I had a 6 year warranty on the heater and 2 year warranty on labor. I will definitely reach out to Air-O-Smith again with any future water heater needs and have already referred one of my neighbors. If you have a need for a new water heater or your current heater needs repair please use this company, they are wonderful people and great at what they do!

Fast forward several months, I called Louise on 5/8 to schedule an appointment because our water heater was leaking on the roof. She said they wouldn't be able to schedule anything til the following week, but she'd call me back Monday. Never got a call all day, so I called Tuesday 5/12 to follow up. As I refreshed her memory about my inquiry, she found her notes & said she hadn't talked to Martin about it yet. She said she'd talk to him later that day & call me back. Well, it's now 5/18, and I still have not received a call back from them. I guess they're too busy to deal with my leak. If that's the case, I would've called other companies to come out. I will NOT be using them again, nor will I refer anyone to them. Louise should have a better system for her note taking / follow ups.

No water or mold damage to my unit or the connecting unit.. whew...!! I messaged a few companies via yelp and some were very slow to respond (days later), but Allen's Plumbing were surprisingly instantaneous. I'm sure it was a bot at first, messaging me for heater info, but once info was submitted, Kane (Allen's rep) contacted me and started appointment process. By Sunday I was locked in for a job assessment appointment. Though there was some unplanned, uncontrollable challenges the day of assessment appointment, Kaohu (Allen's scheduler), was able to request necessary information / photo's to keep the work process moving forward. Thankfully this made things so much easier and faster. By the end of the phone call I was booked for heater replacement. Following day I received another call from financing as I chose to finance the repair instead of out of pocket.. (yes they have financing options).. they let me know that I was approved for financing and that they would furnish me with a quote. Later that day I received the quote for 3 repair options: 1) replace in kind, 2) replace entire system: heater, solar panel, circ pump, piping and valves, or 3) downsize and upgrade to hybrid system. The quote was very transparent! Cost to replace, discovery work, tax credits and even cost of equipment and valve replacements that was not included in option 1 package. I took a gamble and chose option 1 - 'replace in kind' hoping my existing equipment and valves were still good and functional. Thursday came and the technician's showed up.. I call em the 3-J's: Jonah, Jesse, and Jaren (haha). They got their tools and equipment situated and got right to work. Pulled out the old heater and installed new heater. Relocated existing pipes and circ pump to now sit on top of heater, freeing up some space in my already small/ storage less townhouse.. The team was very polite and kind, worked well with each other and very respectful with noise.. I almost forgot they were out there working lol. Anyhow, the boys got it done, left the place cleaner then I gave it to them and walked me through the install and changes before they left. Really appreciated the work they did and how professional they were. Side note: option 1) replace in kind. This option did not include circ pump, mixing valve and or controller. If my equipment didn't function correctly it would have been additional cost to me. So big gamble on my part. I'm highlighting this because the guys made every effort to inspect existing equipment and since found in good condition, did not replace it 'just to make the sale'. So I felt effort and honesty should be highlighted in this review. I really REALLY appreciate that about this company and work crew. They weren't out to take my make money. Overall.. great job to the 3-J's and admin team! I highly recommend Allen's for your next job. Mahalo for making this experience a less painful and enjoyable one. A hui hou -Happy Customer

We have used Allen's Plumbing multiple times to repair both residential and commercial leaks. They…read morehave consistently been responsive and professional over the years, albeit a little pricey, which is warranted because of their responsiveness. Today, however, was a different story. Today, Saturday at 1:00 pm, a second floor office tenant called and said a water supply pipe in the shared Women's bathroom was leaking and there was a lot of standing water on the bathroom floor. She said she shut off the supply valve but water continued to leak. I immediately called Allen's Plumbing because of their past responsiveness and repair excellence. However, their answering service took several minutes to record the service request. When giving her the address, I must have had to say and spell "Waialae" five times before she got it correct. She told me Allen's would call back in 20 minutes. They actually took 39 minutes to call back. The kicker was that after I had explained in detail to the answering service that a pipe was leaking and we needed service immediately to repair since the shutoff valve was not turning off the water, and water was all over the floor in the second floor restroom and leaking into the first floor bakery, the Allen's Plumbing nitwit who returned my call asked if I needed immediate service or could wait until a future time for their service. When I reiterated to the nitwit that the pipe was leaking and this couldn't wait for future service, he said we don't have anyone to do the repair today. I am thinking, then why the F ask if I need service immediately? So bottom line, don't call Allen's Plumbing for repair service on the weekend, or if you do, find out first if they can do a repair immediately.
