fairly authentic poke for sf, they actually marinate their fish and don't have a crazy amount of toppings. liked the furikake salmon, spicy ahi, spicy salmon, shoyu ahi. rice was a little gummy, half the fish options are missing on their online ordering system so i would come in store

Furikake salmon, Hawaiian ahi, naked salmon

The poke bowl was mostly decent but there were something that left me feeling not as satisfied as I get with other poke bowls. The thing I enjoyed most was the marinated fish. I got the furikake salmon, Hawaiian ahi, and the naked salmon. The furikake salmon and Hawaiian ahi were both tasty and I liked the softness of the fish. However the naked salmon did not taste as fresh and was a bit more fishy than I would preferred. The white rice was also clumpy at the bottom of the bowl. I was really hoping to like the poke here since I was craving the Hawaiian style marinated fish that I had in Hawaii and San Diego. This place just didn't hit the same and it was a bit pricey for the portion size.

Always the correct choice for lunch in FiDi. Generous scoops and only $1 more per scoop. And it comes with free crab salad. The fish they used is fresh and great, and their ginger is always good. It is a take out restaurant as they do not have tables, and the service is quick and friendly.

Hi City Poke nails that true island flavor! The owner is from Hawaii and brings all the aloha with him. Super friendly, down-to-earth, and clearly passionate about sharing good food. The poke itself? So ono. Fresh, flavorful, and totally legit. You'll find classic Hawaiian-style fish alongside "mainland" toppings -- because, as the owner said, "you gotta give the city what it wants." But no worries, the foundation is all Hawaii. It's quick, delicious, and feels like a little taste of home

I don't give 5 stars often.. but let me just say... BEST POKE IN SF HANDS DOWN!!! I've been to many many places yet HI City has never disappointed. Their poke always tastes so fresh and authentic. Very close to Foodlands poke in Hawaii. Can be pricey, my bowl was $18 but it's so worth it. I get 3 scoops. The service is also great, the staff is always super sweet. Very small seating area, mainly for take out only. Highly recommend!!! I wish they had all their poke options on doordash

I was excited to try this poke spot since I have fond memories of eating poke in Hawaii. The service was friendly and super efficient to the point I felt a little rushed even though there wasn't a lunch line yet. The fish tasted really good and they had lots of options with different flavors. The only sticking point--no pun intended--was the rice. It was gluey and in one big clump. It brought down the enjoyment of the meal.

This place was amazing. My wife and I came in the restaurant because I was craving some poke and beef teriyaki. We heard their poke tastes like the poke from Hawaii. We walked in and were greeted right away. Their whole staff was friendly and had excellent costumer service. We ordered one poke bowl, two beef teriyaki rice bowls and some sides. We got a poke bowl right away. We destroyed it before we even got to take a picture of it lol. While eating the poke we received our beef teriyaki rice bowls and it didn't disappoint. If you're looking for true Hawaiian Poke pls make your way here. It's like your at food lands in Hawaii for all that know they have the best poke. To be able to match that same taste is amazing. Then there Beef Teriyaki bowl is out of this world. The owner is from Hawaii. No wonder his food is amazing. Excellent costumer service and excellent food. Can't wait to make my way back again. Loved every bit of it. Thank you HiCity,

    Claudia S.

The best poke in the area in my opinion. I had been coming here for years and always proposing it for team lunch and quick bites - it never disappoints. A much better option than a cold, premade sandwich, no? It's kinda tucked away past the Blue Bottle, and it can get a bit crowded once the lunch line starts going. Wish they had seating inside, but I usually have no problem taking it and eating elsewhere. I have never had any problem with my order and the process is always quick and hassle-free. Hate to give away my secret lunch spots in FiDi but, give it a try if you haven't :)

If you love garlic, this is the poke place for you!! I was excited to see so many garlicky options to add into my bowl. I got a regular "build your own" bowl, which came with three scoops of protein. I tried the furikake salmon and Hawaiian tuna! Both were pretty good. The salmon was VERY buttery and fatty. The tuna was classic lean fish with sesame, green onion, ogo seaweed, shoyu, etc. I was pretty satisfied! For garlic options, I got the garlic crab salad, garlic mayo, and garlic bread crumbs. There were also seared garlic albacore and garlic shrimp options!

This bowl of rice was $8.69. Ridiculous.

Poke is pretty good. Have not tried the hot menu. My only gripe is their pricing. It's downtown SF so I get it. I have come in on two occasions to buy just a side of rice. The first time, they charged a reasonable amount $5 (or less than that). Today, I was charged nearly $9. For a side of rice. I didn't see the price, the woman at the register didn't tell me. She just entered into the POS and walked away. I couldn't see the total until AFTER paying. I would not have paid. It's ridiculous. Edit: The owner replied, suggesting I should have just left without paying if I didn't agree with the price. As I mentioned above, I wasn't informed of the price beforehand. The POS didn't display it, and the cashier walked away after entering it into the POS. I only saw the total after I'd already paid. It's frustrating that pricing seems inconsistent and that a small item, like a side of rice, could suddenly cost over 75% more in the span of one year. Clearer, consistent pricing would be a much better approach for customers. Please focus on properly pricing. If rice has to be $9 going forward then so be it, but at least be consistent. Cannot wait to see a $40 bowl on your menu.

VERY much worth it ! I added Kimchi & mac salad may not look appetizing because all the sauce and toppings but was deff a 10/10! Their not stingey at all

Bulgogi Bowl and Salmon Poke Bowl
    Ricky K.

If you want a quick and easy poke bowl, Hi City is definitely a good stop to come by. It's in the financial district, so a lot of workers come here during lunch hours. They have preset bowls on their menu, or you can just create your own. I ended up getting their preset bulgogi bowl as well as the salmon poke bowl which I ended up building. They have lots of different marinades for their salmon and tuna proteins, so it's nice to see those options. I will say the bulgogi is quite salty from the sauce, so you definitely need to eat it with more rice to dilute the flavor if you get it. Other than that, it's a pretty simple poke bowl shop. Nothing really out of the ordinary, but it's still good.

Also, nothing is served with mac salad... The prices are pretty decent for SF. Maybe that's why this place is popular. They are takeout only and have one bench outside for you to eat at if it's free. Tried the garlic shrimp, the moco loco (idk why they swap the words), and the furikake chicken. Also had a spam musubi (when I ordered online for pick up, I couldn't add egg which is usually an option according to the Toast website). The garlic shrimp was missing a flavor that Hawaii has in their garlic shrimp. The color was very red but it was not spicy. They do have an option to make it spicy though. It was bland to me compared to what I'm used to when I visit Hawaii. The moco loco gravy was good, but the beef patty tasted dry and overcooked. They did have a runny egg too but it was oddly underneath the patties, so we broke the eggs while trying to split the beef amongst 3 people. The furikake chicken is probably better if you eat it right away since it's lightly breaded. We took it home so by the time we ate it, it was soggy. The sauce it is cooked in is a little sweet and wasn't too bad. The soggy chicken ruined the texture for me though. Each dish was served with a little bit of cabbage which I liked to get a little greens in the meals. The spam musubi didn't taste like it had any sauce, and they used so much furikake underneath the spam, that it made it taste fishy. Would not recommend. I can't comment on the service much since I ordered online for pickup. The guy who handed me my food after asking my name was nice and polite though. The only reason I'd come back is to try to the shave ice. The group in front of me got 3 for their kids, and it looked tasty. I would not come back for the food, but at least the prices aren't bad for SF standards.

As for the Wings, we got the Pa'ina, Sriracha Honey,Salt and Pepper, Garlic Cilantro, and Spicy Mango. The Pa'ina has Sweet Chili Glaze, but too us was just spicy and didn't really have much flavor beyond that. In comparison, the Sriracha Honey we thought had more flavor besides its heat. The Salt and Pepper was a disappointment. It didn't have much flavor and was actually the least tasty of all of them. It was moist like the rest of them, but wish that the Skin was crispy like you expect Dry Rub Wings to be instead of being soggy. The Garlic Cilantro was a good combination with the Fish Sauce, Cilantro, Garlic, Serrano, and Lime Juice if you like Cilantro. The Spicy Mango was actually no really spicy and had a good Mango flavor to it, not that artificial Mango flavor you get with some things Plus, the Ube Colada was thankfully not too sweet, and was well balanced in Alcohol to drink ratio instead of barely tasting the Alcohol or the Ube. The Lychee-tini was also well balanced in both the Lychee and Alcohol flavor. Overall, great drinks, service, and food. Definitely would come here again and try more yummy food.

I noticed a PASS inspection sticker in the window (isn't it usually an A? I'll Google that later). It's strictly a food shop. No tables, no décor, nothing fancy. Just a big menu on the wall type of place. The menu is simple about 4-5 meat options and a few sides, and you build your combo. I ordered a small plate since I tend to overeat and appreciated that option. I got the chicken katsu with rice and mac salad and it was perfectly portioned. The chicken was great. No notes. The steamed rice was just a little overcooked but still tasty. The mac salad was decent, though I expected a bit more from what seemed like an authentic spot. Oh and of course, the sauce, so good. My only complaint is they need to pack two sauces in the to go bag, not one. Total came to $10.85, which feels like a steal. It completely satisfied me and definitely beats driving all the way to Chipotle (my usual lunch stop) and spending $15-$18. No photo because I was too hungry and ate it in the car. I'm excited to bring my husband back and see what he thinks.

I stopped coming here because they discontinued their croquette musubi. Well today, I checked…read moretheir online order platform and the croquette musubi were back! I placed a togo order and went in to pick it up. The order was ready before the appointed time. I did not get the croquette musubi. It was a gross fried spam musubi smothered in shitty spicy sauce that I did not want. WTF happened to you Kitchen Aloha? No one smothers their musubi with shitty Korean spicy sauce. The whole thing was inedible. This sucks

Underwhelming poke in the Tenderloin…read more Based on the appearance of the bowl, I was expecting bright and fresh flavors, but looks are deceiving. I was disappointed to find the bowl very bland and flavorless. It felt dry. The only sauce was mixed with the salmon pieces and didn't really taste like anything. This left the rest of the bowl lacking flavor and having dry rice. It seems like they just threw in a bunch of random ingredients to take up space in the bowl. I mean, carrots and tortilla strips are definitely interesting choices for a poke bowl. The portion was relatively small for what you pay. The amount of avocado given was just sad. You also aren't able to make adjustments to add other things to the bowl - you're stuck with what is set in the description. For this spot being a very small hole in the wall, I thought I would be noticed and assisted quickly. I was the only person in there but had to wait an unreasonably long time to get my order. I placed the order online long before I walked to the restaurant during my lunch break. When I got there, I sat waiting for probably 10 or so minutes before someone even came out from the back to hand me my food. Maybe their other menu items are better, but I wouldn't recommend Kitchen Aloha for their poke bowls.

A big part of this is to the credit of a business named Pastel which evolved to become Neon. Having a good history with most noodles that I've bought, I decided to order the House pork ramen (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=72iXyoJaxGrhkty7DF9oTw). original packaging (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=LgVq8b8DhqHa9wHx6pVztA). It was packed efficiently and nicely (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=KdmB7Hvc6obGwX9AeFJ4cg) and the reheating instructions (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=e7wguIZaCBANjQ91DN61Dg) were simple and clear. I chose the stove top reheating and worked as explained. I liked the depth of the broth and the noodles had a nice chew likely due to the use of a lower heat. It was a decent portion, perfect for my dinner. You can add a nori leaf or poach or steam an egg to supplement this. Sadly, I steamed my egg too long so the yolk was on the harder side when I combined it with this. Thank you, Ramenwell, for making a quality product and I will study your menu the next time my friend decides to order from Neon. My friend lives a couple blocks away so perhaps I'll dine there instead.
